Newbie wanna know how to use dowloaded pkgs.
I'm totally a newbie... this is the first time i installed archlinux, and i'm very interested in it... but i got some problems. I hope anyone can help me out ...
Due to some unstable conditions and reasons, the speed of pacman -Sy kde /gnome is very very slow so that i cant stand it. Therefore, before the desktop environment installation i have to download all the pkgs from FTP . And next, I cp all the pkgs to /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ , and then i use pacman -Sy kde again, hoping it would work to install the desktop environment, but it still downloaded pkgs online. So how can i use the downloaded pkg sources to make it install desktop environment ??
I really dont know how to figure it out... I wish i can get help from you guys..

Google Maps dowloaded, but don't know how to use it or find what I just downloaded?
just bought a blackberry curve and know nothing about it. I went to google maps and clicked download, and it finished downloading and now I do not know how to use google maps or find where it is on my phone. How do I find where it is on my phone? (When I finished downloading it asked if I wanted to "run" or something else, I checked the other box - Also, if I go back to google and try to download google maps again it says it was already downloaded on my phone!)
I do know how to use google maps on a computer, just not on my phone.Assuming that it downloaded and installed ok on your Curve, the first step is to find the application icon. Depending on your theme you're using, you may need to press the menu button to display the full list of applications. Do that by pressing the button to the right of the trackball (with the dots).
The google maps icon is kind of orange and looks like a little folded map. After you click on that, it's pretty straight forward. Click on the menu button to search for a location and get directions.
Hope that's not too basic of instructions. Besides from email, google maps is the thing I use the most. Verizon cripples the GPS, but the approximate location based on cell towers is still super useful. Enjoy! -
I managed to transfer the music from 1 pc to 1 other pc (it is played perfectly on the other PC (Windows 7- pc) by the newly downloaded and installed iTunes, version 10.6.1.7). But I didn’t fix the transfer of the meta data (for example the rating). Does anyone know how to use (or import) your old playlists, etc..(= meta data) on the other PC? So, short: how to migrate the meta data from one pc to an other pc?
It's a pity that it seems not to be possible to import on the new pc e.g. the ratings!!!
I don't want to start again with rating my (beautiful classical) music!

What I'm finding out in the millions of Skype users is that there isn't anyone (so far) that knows how to use the Skype (which is installed on my SMART TV) to make a phone call or video phone call. Use of Skype on a smart TV may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. However the interface should be rather basic and easy to use. I don't see how a class would be really necessary. The process may even be covered in a startup guide provided with your TV.

Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper). For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.

Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
How will the script recognize the year of publication?
For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.

Out of the box, to use the function keys as function keys, hold down the fn key when you press the key. Otherwise, you get the picture function on the key. You can reverse this behavior in the Keyboard system prefs.

Gantt chart: Don't know how to use the tooltipkeys and toolkeylabel
I have a problem. Don't know how to use the tooltipkeys and toolkeylabel. I used jquery to select the gantt bars and on mouse over i was getting the task id "tid" then passing it to adf bean with serverlistener and showing a popup that is adf component with javascript. For positioning of the popup I used a button that has width and height 0 and has position absolute and gets the coordinates of the mouse.
"div[et]" is a jquery selector that selects all the elements that have attribute et. I noticed that all the bars have that attribute as a few other attributes as well "part"...

To use tooltipkeys and tooltiplabel in gantt, you can add following code in managed bean

Predictive text on N95- Do u know how to use it?
Hi, All the phones I have used up to now & the Predictive text, once you type the 1st 2 or 3 letters the phone would predict & give you a choice of possiable words and then u confirm which one.
I just got a N95 and have turned on the predictive text, when I start to type a word and the 1st letter, it comes up with a word starting with a compleatly different 1st letter !!! Maybe I dont know how to use this system, can anybody please shine some light on this matter

Select the "pencil" button, scroll down to Predictive Text > "Matches" and then the list becomes available.
Star key(*)bottom left on pad will change words. Keep pressing until your happy with the word or you will be asked to spell it.

iCloud storage doesn't affect the available storage on your device. It's for backing up your device and syncing your data, so you can recover the data if needed.
You probably need to import photos/videos to your computer or another destination (like a photo kiosk & burn CDs), and then delete them from your device. Or, delete some unused apps from your device.
