Newbie with Mac iWeb, but have used Dreamweaver in Windose ......

Hi all, i used Dreamweaver with good effect on my Windose Lap top, i now have the free App "iWeb" on my new Mac.
I have had a quick look at what is can be done with iWeb, it seems to have a few Templates built in, but i don't see any facilities to use Templates from anywhere else or any possibility of Editing any Web Sites i have previously created.
Have i missed something significant, i guess to have the same facilities given me by Dreamweaver i have to spend some more money !, or Dual Boot with Boot Camp.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

There are 3 themes in iWeb that can be customized extensively by the user: Black, White and Modern Frame. The Formal theme can also be customized in all page layouts except for its blog page. Each theme will have a different navbar font and color scheme. So choose the one that would work best with your design.
There are numerous 3rd party themes that can be purchase and added to iWeb. Just do a Google search for "iWeb 3 themes".
Does Dreamweaver have a "crossover" deal where you can get the Mac version for a greatly reduced price if you already have the Window version like Adobe does for Photoshop?

Welcome to the Apple community.
Assuming you are logged into your iCloud account and have enabled photo stream on your device, then any photos you take on your iPad will be added to photo stream and can be shared to any device that is logged into the same iCloud account.
If while away, you lose your iPad, then upon your return you would need to log into your iCloud account on your girlfriend's computer and enable photostream, by doing this you would then be able to download all the photos you added to photo stream whilst you were away.

If you really have a new MacBook, iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand come with the Mac for free.
As you see their price at the Mac App Store, it's clear that there's a problem with your MacBook. Simply return it if you purchased it less than 14 days ago and you will receive a new MacBook

The menu selection only shows the other options if you already have a selection active; a selection made with one of the available tools like lasso or quick selection. First select with the tools, then use the menu 'Select'.

Does anyone know if there is any difference at all in the display between the 4 and the 4s. I use my 4 with no problems but have issues with the 5 - makes me feel ill. Any help appreciated before I make an expensive mistake

In a technical sense, the differences between the displays on the iPhone 4 vs 4s are vast. I'm mean, they are both attached to 70 - 90% of the internal components and far from interchangeable. There are no differences however, that are noticeable by the user.

Since installing Mac Mavericks all my friends with Macs and I have problems with the cursor disappearing, only in Firefox, Safari is fine...

I have stopped using Firefox as nothing I have done has fixed this problem. I have tried shutting down Firefox and rebooting it, I cleared all my add-ons and then added adblock back (that's the only one) but it still doesn't work. I've deleted large files so that I have more space - I can't think of anything else that will work. I have spoken to four of my friends with Macs and they are all having the same problem with Firefox since Mavericks.

Hi thanks very much for your reply. I did a few things like delete my add-ons and I don't have the problem of the disappearing cursor (sounds like a Sherlock Holmes story) any more but it seems to have been a mac issue as there were many complaints on the Apple forums of the cursor disappearing since the Mavericks OS and not just in Firefox but in multiple programs. Looks like they've fixed it somehow!

Problems with my Iweb site after using Iweb Seo Tool!!

I just used the Iweb Seo Tool with my Iweb 09. I followed the Seo webpage instructions to use it. I published it and everything seemed to work well.
I added Google analytics and used every option available that the tool offers
As of today. When trying to use my bookmarked link in my bookmarks toolbar, it didnt work.I entered my site into the address bar and my site loaded fine.
But...I have some problems.
My comments in my blog have disapeared
I cant log into my MobileMe account through my system preferences
My password and use name are rejected
I can log into my site through MobileMe.com and I have even changed my password.
I have tried to publish my Iweb site and I get the error "Couldnt reach the MobileMe configuration server"
I publish using my idisk and mobileme account
I have looked on other forums and found out that if i move my "cache" from my "home" folder, to the desktop that it should work... no luck!!

iWeb SEO Tool can modify your site after you've published to MobileMe. It will do it on the MMe server. Takes longer but you can avoid having to publish to a folder and then uploading from there. AOL Desktop for Macs. Anyone have used it?

I use AOL as an internet service provider for dial up. Don't knock it, but you can if u want I'm cool with people here. I use the dial up because I use two ISP and attend a university. Because now of the blended and distance use of the computer, the importance of having two Internet Service Providers on dial up is important. You see i can always grab another phone line, but not just another DSL.
America Online offers an AOL desktop for Macs. Advertised as designed by mac users for mac users. Has anybody tried this software that must be downloaded?
Since it says AOL for desktop and to me this means i have to look at junk on my computer screen. Plus my now Mac desktop or the screen display appears very fast, and i like the pretty blue. Does anyone have experience with this AOL Desktop for macs?

I haven't installed AOL Desktop For Mac yet but I know you can run both that & AOL For Mac OS X Version 10.3.7 simultaneously.
So you could install it to test drive without losing AOL For Mac OS X.

Publish on .mac address, but have different domain show up

We have a .mac account. Plus we have another domain. Can I log into my cpanel on our other domain and have it point to our .mac account http address?
That way I can publish our site on our .mac web address, but tell people to go to our other domain address because it it more professional of a looking domain.
I am not talking a redirect. I am not sure how to ask my question. Does this my question may sense?

To give you an example. I have my website adresses registered with buydomains.com. One is seasidemusic.com. While I was first fooling around with the site before it went live I had it on my aol member space. By using the frameforwarding service from buydomains, I was able to send my beta testers a link to seasidemusic.com, and that's what they saw when they went to the site, too. They never had to know it was really at members.aol.com.
EDIT I should say that I don't know if apple forbids this on .mac. They didn't use to--I know Sky Kogachi had his design work with his url, but they might have changed their policy. I'd check with the folks in the .mac homepage forum before you spend any great amount of time or any money on this.

AirPort Works Fine with Mac OS, but cannot detect Networks on XP

I've used Boot Camp to install XP on my MBP and installed the necessary drivers etc. The Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter does not detect any wireless networks when it's booted up with Windows XP, but works fine when booted up with OS X. I thought it was a problem with the driver so I reinstalled it but it still cannot detect any wireless networks. The message says "no available wireless networks found in range".
If networks can be detected using the Mac OS, why is it that when i switch to windows it fails? I'm new at this so can someone enlighten me please?

I am trying to use a remote control with mac air but no IR, how do I do it

Bought my Mac Air earlier this year, it has no IR, I have two types of remotes here plastic n metal but cant connect. There is no IR on the macair so I know this is part of the problem, so is there a workaround or a way to pair on bluetooth...If not is there a remote for this macair that will work??

I use a Kensingtom USB controller that I have had for years. It has forward and back, laser pointer and screen blackout function keys. It doesn't act as a media controlller with volume, play, forward and back.

Using Google Analytics with .Mac/iWeb

Does anybody know how to embed the Google snippet into iWeb pages?

Not so simple.
Doing this will give confusing results as the widget markup is recorded as well.
To avoid this you have to add the code post publishing and this is not very convenient for .Mac users - especially those who need blog comments etc.
If you are using Leopard you can make life a lot easier by using this application...
