Newby 'duplicates' question

Hello all.
Just started to use Ap.
Imported my library without a hitch. Hurrah!
Looking back at some files/projects,sorry now I find many of my images marked as duplicates even though they have original frame numbers/and have not been edited previous to import or since import. There is no master for them either and no separately filed master on other drive or backup-so far.
I can find no method of reinstating the master or finding it or just making the duplicate a master??
Probably me I know - but - wot to do?
Not disastrous but annoying to say the least.
Any ideas?

In what way are they marked as duplicate?

Do you mean Aperture displays the little "badge" telling you the master is missing?
So, this means you imported as "referenced" photos -- you chose to "keep pictures in their original locations". Is that correct?
If so, where is that original location? Aperture should not have lost the masters unless you moved them or disconnected the drive on which they were stored.

Audio files and duplicates question.

Hello Group,
After almost seven years my Macbook pro is getting full., I have been using Omnidisksweeper to help locate files that are no longer needed. I have always been confused as to where My music files are kept. If I import audio files using Itunes, it seems I am creating duplicates, even if I name them, I seem to have an untitled artist or untitled album remaining, is this true? The same question applies to Iphoto where are these Jpegs or digital photos kept? are files duplictaed when using these applications?

If you are adding tracks by dragging to iTunes or by using the Add To Library menu item then iTunes will put a copy into your media folder and leave the original where it is. iTunes uses the copy. If you add by dragging to the Automatically Add To iTunes folder then iTunes moves the file to the media folder.

I need instructions for retrieving page HTML to report a redirecting page [DUPLICATE: /questions/776920]

Google wants the html for a search results page that is redirecting- I don't know how to get it in firefox, & their directions for firefox did not work. Sorry if this is a dumb question!

You can select that part of the page with the mouse and right-click the selection to open the context menu. Use View > Selection Source to see the HTML code and copy what you need to the clipboard (Ctrl+C). You may have to adjust your selection.

Importing duplicates question

When I connect my iPhone and Import photos, somethimes I am asked if I want to import duplicates as it seems some photos are already on my Mac probably via iCloud.
But if I say Do not import duplicates, does that mean that when I reach 1,000 photos in my photo stream that the photo will be deleted eventually?
Surely I should import the duplicate and make an album which will be on my HDD and not in iCloud photo stream.
In any case, it is not always clear which photos have already been synced from iPhoto - or not - til I connect my iPhone. I am often surprised some photos are duplicates while others are not.
Basically, what is the best practice for saving photos from iPhone to iPhoto on Mac forever?

If you have your iPhoto's iCloud preference pane setup as shown in this screenshot it will automatically import all new photos added to the My Photo Stream by your iPhone:
So if you decline the option to import duplicates when connecting the iPhone to your Mac you won't lose any of the photos.
To see which photos have been imported into your library just check the current month's Photo Stream event.
Remember, the iPhone must be connected via WiFi in order to sync to iPhoto.

Duplicates question: how to find and eliminate both/all

I've looked through this forum for an answer to this...sorry if it's already been answered, but I didn't see it.
I need to be able to 1) find duplicates or multiples in a column and 2) delete both/all, not just one of those duplicates. So, for example, if I start with a column that has:
A
A
B
C
C
C
D
E
E
I want to be left with:
B
D
I do NOT want to be left with:
A
B
C
D
E
Is there a way to do that? Again, sorry if it's been answered, but I couldn't find it, if so.

Really easy.
Assuming that the row 1 is an header one,
in B1, enter:
=IF(COUNTIF(A,A)=1,A,"")
you will get what is shown by "Before"
Select every cell
activate Sort > using Column B > ascending
you will get what is shown by "After"
delete rows 2 thru 9.

I am converting html files to pdf using Acrobat 9 pro. All of the check boxes and radio buttons come out checked.
This is exactly the same as the following thread:

Which OS and browser are you using?

In BI, one of my field was off of the data type in flat file, so got error while loading flat file to PSA, so whole file failed to load.
Do you have some idea how to cleansing the data for data type before loading to PSA or what do we do generally?

Downloads page wont allow me to exacute a download [DUPLICATE: /questions/777745]

When I download, the program shows up on the 'downloads' box, but from there, I can't get it installed. The downloads box will not let me open,(open option not the active blue color) clicking does not help.
I have restarted a few times, have tried trouble shoot pages on Firefox, have turned off my firewall... I am stumped. Anyone have an answer for me? Thanks in advance.

How to safely download and install programs
Many of the posts that I have written have been deleted by moderators because they said they were off-topic. I was unhappy about something to do with iTunes and they didnt want me discussing it so....posts were deleted over & over again. So there were a lot of posts because I kept attempting to re-word my issue in more acceptable ways so that I could get help explaining just how terrible the newest version of iTunes is and how I cant access anything on it. ks!
State your problem and displeasure, ask for solutions, don't rant.
But anyway here's what it is: As I am here on this forum typing, I often find my cursor up in a different place, usually higher up on the page, than where i left it. So like for instance i will be typing right here in this sentence and suddently fiind the cursor up there in that sentence that ends with "hindered so many times". What on earth?!?! Isnt that the weirdest thing you've ever heard?? It hasnt ever happened to me anywhere else. Just wondering if anyone knows

Newby Language Question

I am still just beggining to learn flex so Im sure this is an
easy one, but I havnet "gotten it" yet. Hopefully you guys can

I have an XML that I am using as a datamodel. It looks

For right now im using an Mx:Model to bring this data into
the program. I have an array collection declared as:
baseArrCol = new ArrayCollection(modelname.item);
At some point I need to do some calculations for an item
based on its sub-array. I figured I could just create another array
collection something like this
subArrCol = new ArrayCollection(
(baseArrCol.getItemAt(IndexImWorkingWith)).itemArray1.ArrayItem);
This works when the sub-array has more than 1 item, but if
there is only 1 item I get the following error:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert
mx.utils::ObjectProxy@439c821 to Array.
So when I have a sub-array of exactly 1 item the
ArrayCollection did not treat the field as an array, so I fail to
get the data in this situation.
Im probably doing this the wrong way, is there a better way
to do this?

One thing to bear in mind is that although your data starts
as XML, when you bring it in to your program using <mx:Model>
it is being turned into a tree of untyped ActionScript objects.
Even if you're using an external source with Model, it is being
pulled in at compile time rather than runtime. This is being done
in a way that is ignorant of any XML schema in use; it uses a very
straightforward method of constructing the object tree. The way it
constructs the tree, multiple children with the same name become an
array but a single child just becomes an object (or rather an
ObjectProxy, so you can listen for changes & use binding).
You can do more or less what you're already doing, but you
have to be sensitive to this...check types. You might also skip
creating an ArrayCollection if you're just using it to access the
data. So, something like this:
var itemArray:Object = items.item[index].itemArray1;
if (itemArray is Array)
else
Note that you'll have the same problem if you have only one
item (the array index will fail).
A bit of a nuisance, but it will work.
Alternatively, you could include the data as XML, using the
<mx:XML> tag. Then you'd work with the data using XML
methods. (Even there you have a choice between E4X format and
legacy format).
In the absence of more details, my personal preference would
probably be to use <mx:XML> with E4X, which is fairly
powerful, but the E4X documentation isn't as strong as it could be.
But different scenarios might make one approach better than the
other.

Address Book creating multiple duplicates!!

My address book keeps creating multiple duplicates for the names in my address book. I have the wireless sync off and I also have no duplicates allowed setting off, but it still creates them.
What is going on with my blackberry?

Listener.ora question

Sorry if this is a duplicate question, as I'm in a big hurry.
DBCA added my public ip to my listener.ora on all my rac nodes about two years ago. It's been running fine for the most part, but now I'm wondering if it's been causing some hanging issues during both planned and un-planned shutdowns.
The VIP is the correct way to go. I just hadn't noticed that the public ip was also in it. Should I remove it? Should I change it to the VIP ip?

Option to change a Subject Line in a Forum question

Hello,
In Forums, many times I see that people create duplicate questions because after posting a question and getting some responses, they realize that the Subject Line is not descriptive enough .
e.g
/thread/1520926 [original link is broken]
/thread/1519271 [original link is broken]
I personally feel that if we provide an option to a question's owner to change the subject line at any point of time( even after many replies) if needed, it could avoid some duplications in questions.
(Let me know if its already there and I dint know about this feature

Hi Pooja,
You can change the title and the post itself, but you need to realize the mistake.
If I remember correctly, you have 15 minutes time for this.
There were some strategists in the past who posted "place holders" or went back and edited their posts once someone had provided a better solution. This is not main the intention of the forums and sharing you knowledge at the time of posting.
My recommendation is to do a quick check on the OP before answering by checking their recent posts via the user profile, and if you find the question interesting but are not sure about aspects of it, then don't rush in but take your time to work it out.
A respectfull OP should appreciate this, and the quality of the discussion around the solution.
Personally, I have also learnt very valuable skills from SDN when someone stepped in to say "Sorry Julius, but that is a legacy approach and you can now use XYZ..." or "That is bad advise, because you have not considered ABC.." etc.
Such discussions are worth gold to everyone, and there is nothing wrong with making "innocent" mistakes.
My 2 cents of thinking before posting,

I don't think the date I became a member has anything to do with it. Yes, I signed up a year ago to ask a question or two when I didn't know anything. It wasn't until recently have I started to use this forum again, only to try and help people as well as ask my questions. It took me a year to get to this point to where I can actually answer questions instead of just asking. So don't be silly and judge a person based on their profile.
Secondly, I agree with you, the search utility is great. I use it all the time and usually I'll find my answers, but if I don't is it such a pain in the butt for you to see the same problem posted again?? I know how much you want people to use the resources available before wasting forum space with duplicate questions, but it's not going to happen. Some people are not as patient and you being a butt about it won't stop it.
My point in general is that there are nice ways to help people and even rude ways, and your comments at times come across rude to me, even condescending. You have a lot of knowledge, therefore certain things seem trivial to you... but try to understand where some of the new people are coming from. The Swing tutorial is extremely helpful but if you don't understand the concept of programming or java that well... then it can be overwhelming and you don't know where to start. It's a huge tutorial and when people are stuck they just want an answer to their one question. Most figure it's easier to ask someone who already knows instead of reading an entire tutorial to get their answer.
I've learned by both methods, by taking the time to research it myself and by asking a lot of questions. I have the time. Some don't. Please realize that not everyone is like you and they will continue to ask whether you like it or not. You have a choice, either help them or not.

4. With iTunes you either need to burn the tracks to a CDRW, then convert to MP3/WMA, or use a program like JHymn to convert (Google JHymn).
