I would like to know what it's all about newer releases of software, which though have older versions.

Well, if you loose functionality und good user experience due to apples and googles quarrels its simply not a matter of bugfixing. If you want to get rid of googles services (Maps, Youtube) you should at least make shure, the user experience stays the same. Without the youtube app custom made for easy iPad use, you need to buy an app to at least get fullscreen view but with a much more complicated navigation (iCabMobile for example). And GoogleMaps is right now still the far better service.
If google lets me use programs for free (to make advertisements) I'm ok with a beta. If I buy a very expensive apple device I'm definitely NOT ok with this, especially when I'm forbidden to revert to what I had before. PLease let me downgrade to 5.1.1 again at least.

IBOOKS,SKYVIEW........because these softwares want only IOS7 or more........so they are not installing in my phone.......

Apple should also provide older versions of softwares for all people because people dont have too much time to update everyday hi or her ifone....

But sooner of later, you will likely need to upgrade to iOS 7, or risk the device being left behind when it comes to fucntionality.

If you have no photos:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library' and start.

Is there anyway to run older versions of software on the new mac chip set?

I've got an older version of photoshop that ran fine on my 5 year old mac mini...which won't run on my brand new mac mini....anyone have the same problem and a work around....

The error message reads, "You can't open the "Adobe Photoshop CS.app" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." Would running an earlier version of OSX correct this?

Deleting older versions of software

I'm trying to clean house. Is it safe for me to delete the older versions of iPod and iTunes software that are on my C drive, just so long as I keep the current ones? I always thought the newer software was installed over the old, but apparently not. I certainly don't want to risk losing any of my settings, playlists or music! Thanks.

Deleting old iTunes installers, iPod Updaters, etc. will not affect your iTunes library contents (your music, playlists, etc.), since that is stored in a separate folder than the iPod/iTunes installer files.
So, if the concern is if your iTunes library is at risk or not, you can safely delete those older versions of iTunes. Anyways, if you aren't running that specific version of iTunes, your current one has overridden it already, so you're right about the newer versions installing over the old.
It's just that it doesn't automatically delete the older versions off of your computer, iTunes just runs on the latest installed version.
What you might want to take into consideration, though, is the fact that you might want to keep around a couple of older version iTunes installers, just in case a newer version of iTunes just totally doesn't work for you.
I really don't think that's much of a concern, however, since you can always find many different versions of iTunes on download websites that archive many different versions of iTunes. For example, FileHippo.com has quite a few iTunes versions, 4.8 to the current version, to be exact, up for download here.
In addition, you can find old iPod Updaters on a few websites out there, too.
It won't affect your iTunes libraries, though, to delete older versions of iTunes software (or even your currently installed program, actually) off of your computer. As long as you don't delete a folder called "iTunes Music" (which is inside a folder called "iTunes", which is set in "My Music" by default), you're fine.

Do ACE exams only focus on new features in that version of software?

A bit confused about adobe ACE certifications.
right, i was looking at using some of the many prep kits from ucertify.com, and was a little baffled you see, in the notes theres is only 200 and something questions on the photoshop cs5 exam and when i looked on the photoshop cs4 exam prep there was like 600 and something?? most of these companies say that there prep kits feature 95% of the material required to pass the exam so looking at this it would be easier to pass the cs5 exam than the cs4 exam?
as i've never taken one of these exams before so this makes me think that the exams are only based on new features with the version of the software not a complete overview of the software.
is this right? or do they just not put it in the prep material as they expect you to have learnt it all from the previous exams?

but... have you taken any of the them? would love to hear from someone thats taken a few, i wasn't even sure if i'd put this post in the right forum to be honest.
just seems odd why they say 95% of the material is in the prep stuff seems too easy.
i'd have thought that since the cs4 exam had that many more questions that the cs5 exam would have even more prep material but obviously not so.

Retrieve older versions of software

My nano has been useless for several months. There are two things that happen. Sometimes when I try to sync it, I get error message -48 telling me it cannot sync. Other times (usally after I've restored it) it goes through the sync process, tells me it's synched and shows that about 4 of the 8G are filled with audio; however, there is nothing actually on the ipod.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that it may be a problem with the software, (version 1.1.3). Is there a way to get an earlier version of the software? From what I can tell, Apple stopped supporting 2nd gen when 3rd gen came out, so there aren't any software updates.
BTW, I sent it to Apple for repair, and they said nothing is wrong with it. And I've done the R's more times than I can count.
Can anyone offer any insight?

I tried moving my iPod to a different drive on my laptop. I've tried this before and it didn't work, but it did this time. It appeared to sync, all my songs and playlists appear to be there, but they won't play. The song time stays on 0, and then it goes to the black Apple screen.
I wish Apple would make older versions of the software available. This version of the software appears to be what's causing problems for me and a lot of other people.

Merging libraries, but older version won't import

Hi all,
I am using iPhotoLibraryManager to merge the library from my old hard drive (from my old computer), onto my new macbook. The problem is that iPhotoLibraryManager will not import the old stuff due to the old hard drive having an older version of iPhoto on it. It wants me to upgrade my version of iPhoto. How can I upgrade the iPhoto on the old hard drive?
FYI, I have the old hard drive in an external enclosure, and it is USB 2.0 only. I tried to restart holding down the "C" key, but it just booted from the internal HD.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
1. Under no cicumstances import from one Library to another. All you’ll get that way is a mess of duplicates and even triplicates as well as losing all your albums, keywords etc.
2. To migrate a Library from one Machine to another, copy it to the Pictures Folder of the ne machine and launch iPhoto. That’s all. There’s no importing involved.
How do I copy the library to my new machine desktop?
Link the to machines together - Firewire Target Disk Mode, wirelessly, Ethernet, sneakernet - and copy the Library over.

Any way to restore older version of software?

The lastest upgrade killed my ATV2. I tried restoring the device via a USB connection to iTunes, and got a message saying it cannot be restored. I followed suggestions and updateded iTunes, turned off all security software, removed extra USB devices; all to no avail. The unit was working fine before the upgrade. Is there any way to restore the older version which was working fine?

The update went badly and AppleTV needs to be restored to current software via iTunes on a computer.
You need a USB to microUSB cable.
Try to restore the AppleTV software to current version software using instructions here:

Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.

How to find older versions of software (Stuffit Expander)

Hello all-
I have a Power G4 with a Power PC G4 processor. I would like to download Stuffit Expander, but I only seem able to find the current versions (on the SmithMicro and cnet websites). And the G4 doesn't have the necessary specifications (no Intel processor and the OS is too old - 10.4.11)
Is there anywhere I can find an older version of Stuffit to download? One that my computer can "handle"?

Do you have the original OS X discs that came with the computer? Some versions came bundled with free version of Stuffit Expander. Use Pacifist to select individual components from the disc for installation so you don't have to reinstall the entire system.

Latest version downloaded and installed but older version opens

I'm using Firefox on a Mac OS10. I upgraded to 6.1 and installed it but when I log on each day an older version 3.6 opens. So I have to go into downloads and open 6.1 and then close the old version to get 6.1 to open.
Why is 6.1 not opening on startup?

By running in safe mode the plug-ins are not running. The issue may be caused by a plug-in.

Older version of software cannot be renewed

I'm trying to install i-tunes on my acer laptop and halfway through the installation a message pops up that says "the older version of Apple software update cannot be removed. contact your technical support."
I'm stuck. Can anyone help me?

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?
