Newest drivers break mic in Vista 64 (X-

I had some older drivers on before (cant remember and apart from having to mute my mic from cycling through the speakers every time I changed to game mode my mic at least worked. Now however it does not work at all. Sometimes I get a little voice through that sounds like it is behind a powerful fan, but usually I get nothing. I have messed around with all the settings possible to no avail. I use my mic when I play any of my multiplayer games and feel it is crucial to my game sessions. What do you have to say about this ctreati've? Also I have read other people are experiencing this, did you guys figure out a fix?

well i dont think i was discussing other "products", i was simply naming items that were?installed?to my computer, i was specifying? the problem i was having with a CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI XTREME Music(your product). i was explaining when the static happend, and i was?wondering if anyone else had the problem, or knew a solution?or what could be causing this problem. why not instead of correcting me, read my post to help a customer. dumb **bleep**.be like your company,?be CREATIVE?and "Family-friendly" by helping a customer fix the problem instead of correcting his grammer. well i now know creative customers(EX. me for many years), has no customer support. creative just gives "family-friendly" safe fourms.
P.S. Since you guys BLOW at customer support, i will be investing into a new sound card.

  • Newest drivers cause low volume out

I first installed my Audigy 2 ZS several months ago. There has been lots of hissing in my music through Media Player so yesterday I updated to the newest drivers. I immediately noticed that I had to crank my speakers all the way open just to hear any sound. This was not the case before, in fact before sound could be very very loud. This problem was not isolated to Windows Media Player but everything on the computer.
I am a professional computer programmer and know much more than average about Windows and computers. I checked my Volume Control setting in the control panel for any muted or turned down sliders, and ran through all of the SoundBlaster software and configuration programs looking for problems. I found nothing wrong.
After searching this website I followed the suggestions to disable onboard sound in the BIOS as well as all the other suggestions. I searched through Device Manager and found no problem devices in there or conflicting IRQs.
This message is not a solicitation for help, but to inform you that this occured to me. If other people report the problem you can contact me again for anything you need to know, like my system configuration, card part numbers, so forth.
I was able to fix the problem by using System Restore to use the old drivers again. Unfortunately I will have to continue living with this hissing sound, which can be significantly abated -- but not fully -- by setting the Volume Control sliders for Wave and Play Control to no more than 75%.

    mosimu,
I know your post wasn't a solicitation for help, but in case you wanted to check a few things, this knowledgebase case covers hissing/crackling and generally how to improve sound:

  • Are Drivers Available for Windows Vista Beta

I have a Audigy 2ZS platinum sound card and can not get it to work with Windows Vista Beta . Does anyone know where I can obtain drivers for this OS, or is there ant work around for this problem?
    Thanks for any help, Li'vermaggot

Thanks for your answer John. I reworded my search last night and found the same post. I emailed Creative Developer Network as was suggested at the bottom of the post and received the info from Creative today. Basically, XP drivers will work with Vista, however 3D and a few other items will not work with Vista until Creative comes out with beta drivers for Vista.
I would imagine that Creative will wait a bit before developing or releasing drivers as the Enterprise version of Vista is the only one near general release for next summer. At this time Microsoft still does not know what retail versions will be released, ie: Home, Pro, Media Edition...
    Thanks again, LM

  • Audigy 2 Value - Trouble with Newest Drivers and Equali

Just got my Audigy 2 Value yesterday. I know its an old model, but I found a new one for a bargain price. Anyway, I initially installed everything from the CD. The driver installed along with the mixer, equalizer, Creative console, etc... When I realized how old the driver was on the CD (2004) I uninstall it, wiped everything clean with DriverCleaner and installed the newest drivers for Audigy (July 08). I discovered the ones on the website don't include all the various applications such as the mixer and equalizer. Just an basic version of the creative console.
I browsed the CD and installed just the apps I wanted -Mixer, Equalizer,Speaker Settings and Calibrator and Diagnostics. They all work fine save for the Equalizer. It just closes with an error message. Its not the most critical piece - the mixer is where I can at least adjust the bass and treble - but I would like to have it if possible.
Any ideas on getting the Equalizer to run with Windows XP and the newest Audigy drivers Are there any up-to-date downloads available on the Creative website with all the CD applications? The fact they are four years old vs. a new driver is most likely the problem. I did not install any of the Creative MediaSource applications. Just wanted the driver only. Would the lastest downloads for them possible have all those apps in current form (or are the install CD ones all I can get)? Thanks for you help!

  • Creative drivers break windows vista, beware (link insi

    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...thread.id=3494
im scared now. i have a x-fi elite pro in the mail and now im scared to install the drivers.
Creative is it safe to install these drivers?

Welcome to the scared owners of Sound Blaster cards. I read the link you put through, and hope i did not have that problem. However, installing this sound card on Vista is the most painful thing you'll ever experience. Wish you good luck.
PS: Once again, Vista is not the problem, Creative drivers that doesn't work properly on Vista are.

  • Line in not working with a Mic on Vista but working wth10.5

    Hi,
I use everyday my headphone with a microphone everyday with Skype without any problems on 10.5. I just pluged the mic in the Line in input and headhone in the Line out.
But under Vista 32 bits, the mic isn't working at all, I don't have a sound when I speak in the mic, and in the Audio panel of Vista, the line in Setup button is unavailable (but it is for the built-in mic).
If I invert the mic and headphone in the entries (I mean physicaly), and speak loudly in the headphone, I have a level...
    Honnestly, I don't understant.
For information, I still have the last beta drivers, I just saw that the 10.5 DVD have the last drivers (and it seems 64bit drivers, yeahh!)
Thank you in advance for your help!

I am searching for a answer myself and came across this link:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=161009&highlight=microphonelinein
Basically it sounds like we may have to use a USB Mic.. Not sure if you've come up with anything better. If you did, please post.

  • Cant hear a live feed of my mic - G530 Vista

I am trying to hear myself live through my microphone and out of my speakers.
    I have:
    1) unmuted the microphone
    2) tried turning the mic and the mic boost volumes up full
    3) uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (conexant HD smart audio 221)
    4) everything that Lenovo could suggest
    Still no use.
I want to be able to take my laptop to my friends for a party and sing karoake.
I have searched endlessly on the internet but to no avail.
The nearest I got was a suggestion of adding an 'enableinputmonitor' into the regedit.
There is no option for this.
It seems the enable input monitor option should appear on sound > playback tab > selecting speaker > selecting properties > then in the 'levels' tab, but it just isnt there,  Its driving me up the wall and someone please please help.
I phoned the retailer where I bought the laptop and they had no answer for me either.
    Anyone, please please help
    Thanks
    Karen

Yes I used to use my pc and my old tiny laptop in this way.
i use a microphone for input and use the headphone socket to run an output to my stereo
    Its for singing through.
Seems to be either a problem with Vista, or the sound card, or the non appearance of enable input monitor in the sound option.

  • Presario C792EM - XP drivers with mic gain needed!

I deleted Vista from my C792EM Presario notebook and installed XP SP2. With some "googleing" I managed to install all the XP drivers and everything is working fine but....the mic output it´s SOOOOO low I barely hear anything (from the internal mic or the external input).
Is there any audio drivers that may boost the mic and auxiliary output so I haven´t got to shout at the mic?

  • Drivers error recovering Windows Vista on Satellite A200

    Hello,
I replaced the HD of my Toshiba Satellite A200. I replicate the original disk partitioning in the new disk and installed the original SO (Windows Vista) from the recovery disk.
Everything went well. However, when I started Windows for first time, it was unable to end the autoconfiguration phase. An error message appeared on the screen: it had been unable to find all the drivers that it needs.
After accepting the error message, windows rebooted the system without giving me any chance.
Can anyone tell me what went wrong with the Windows recovery process?
How can I add the drivers needed or skip the autoconfiguration process to do it later?

    > {quote:title=JoeLouis wrote:}{quote}
    > >Does anyone know if there is any chance to interrupt Toshiba recovery process or windows autoconfiguration process to load a specific driver?
    >
    > No, if you want to add the driver while windows installation and setup process, you have to use an Microsoft Windows disk Toshiba recovery disk contains an image which is NOT the same like a common installation disk!
That's completely right. However, after copying the image to the HDD, the system reboots and loads Vista for first time. Then, the system starts a non-interactive autoconfiguration process (it shows a label similar to "Please, wait...").
Eventually, it shows an error message and shuts down.
This leads me to think that the image copy process went well (the system loads without trouble) but then Windows loads a wrong driver to manage the HDD and crashes.
I would like to know if I can change any option in a configuration file (after copying the image in the HDD and before loading the OS for first time) to make this process interactive or to load a different set of drivers to manage the HDD. Does anyone have a clue?

  • All network drivers error 31 Windows Vista 32 bit

    Dear,
we have a desktop here with Vista 32 running on it.
It's an Acer *sigh* Extensa E464, so yes it's old.
The problem: all the network adapters in device manager are showing the yellow explenation mark with error code 31.
The strange thing is, I do not know if it's related, that every network adapter (about 25-30, yes, I know, wtf) has an extra network adapter with Panda something... (can't add image before my account is verified :/ )
So I google'd that and came on Panda security [profanity removed].. It might be related, I'm not sure.
I can't uninstall the drivers, I can't disable the drivers, I have rebooted, I've done system restore, that did nothing to the problem, and Acer doesn't provide any driver information about this computer anymore (feel free to look) so I'm not sure what driver
    I could try to install..
In my humble proffesional opinion, this is something software related, maybe something about the panda software thing that's getting in the way, perhaps malware.
    Any help/ideas are welcome!
    Thanks in Advance,
    Maarten De Vos

You need to update the network driver.
Visit the website of the manufacturer to download and install the latest compatible driver.

  • Toshiba drivers for WXP and VISTA fpr a Satellite Pro P100 - PSPAH

    Hello.
I need help. I bought a Satellite pro P100 - PSPAH with Vista Premium Home edition as recovery version. Now I want to install a second OS like WXP on this notebook. The problem is that WXP didn't found 3 drivers. For Sound, LAN and a other device. Because of this I update my notebook with the latest chipset drivers, but the problem is still there. Vista has now problems with the drivers, too. I cannot find the special driver on the main page from toshiba.
    mfg jens

    Hi
I understand your problem At this time I prefer also the XP instead of the Vista OS.
The Vista needs simply too many notebook resources and all the applications and 3rd devices are not 100% supported by Vista.
But what to say dude seems you have to search for compatible drivers on chip manufacture sites.
Download and install a tool hardware diagnostic tool called Everest or similar one and try to find out what LAN and sound chips are used in your notebook!
Then you could search for the drivers on Intel, Realtek, etc.. pages
Do you know the Toshiba Canada driver site???
    http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp
There you will also find some Pro P100 series. Try these drivers. It's worth a try.

  • 64-bit Drivers for XP or Vista

I just bought 4bg RAM for my santa rosa macbook pro and would like to install the 64-bit version of either xp or vista to take advantage of the added RAM. Does anyone know the status of the 64-bit drivers for macbook pro's? if apple hasn't released them, i can probably download them from intel's site. what kind of mobo, audio, lan, etc. does a 2.2ghz macbook pro have?

This should help - it helped me
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=149395
I am running a full 64-bit Vista Ultimate on this MBP (S-R)
I installed it via BC1.3b and Tiger and got it working by downloading these drivers. Actually only the networking was not initially working.
I am now using Leopard and "upgraded" the drivers with the Leopard DVD. I did not notice any difference but I suspect that Vista ignored any driver that was inappropriate, so AFAIK, it's still 100% 64-bit, and it runs like a charm.
Is it just good Karma? But I have had none of the problems others seem to have, either with Leopard, BootCamp or Vista. Some minor "glitches" that we all expect. Safari used to crash in Tiger, so what's new?
Any other questions, let me know. I'll check back.

  • HP Mini 1000 Internal Mic in Vista

I installed Windows Vista on my HP Mini 1035NR but it looks like the internal microphone is not working. Are there any plans to make Vista drivers available?
    Thanks in advance!

I have a HP Mini 1033CL and just installed the release candidate of Windows 7 Build 7100.  Installation seemed to detect audio just fine, but as with previous posters, my microphone didn't work.  Additionally, the webcam would only display a black screen in Skype.
I did some digging around and found a solution.  The hardware id for the HD Audio Controller on the Mini 1033CL (made by IDT) is: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7608&SUBSYS_103C361A
I'm not sure if this is the same on the Mini 1000 or later models, but you can find your hardware id by going into device manager and getting to details on the properties of the audio controller.
I found this thread dslreports.com which provides links to audio controller drivers based on hardware id.
In this post, there is a link to HP driver package (intended for Notebooks) that had driver that included the hardware ID of the audio controller on my Mini 1033.
I ran the installer on my Windows 7 Mini 1033CL.  While it errored at the end of the installation, I rebooted my netbook, and the updated drivers were successfully installed.  I was going to attempt manually updating the drivers via device manager, but realized that the drivers had successfully installed despite the error.  To my delight, the external microphone now works!  Additionally, the webcam is now working and successfully capturing video in skype!
Hopefully, you will have the same success with this.
