Newest Firefox update screwed up the yahoo toolbar, AGAIN!

Once again the update, which is SUPPOSEDLY an upgrade screwed up the yahoo toolbar so that ALL the app buttons have disappeared and can't be reloaded. This seems to happen every other time Mozilla updates Firefox. WHY is it so impossible to do an update that doesn't screw this up? This is a common constant issue with updates.

I don"t know how or why this worked but I went to tools clicked on add-ons and went to Yahoo toolbar and hit options button. I added a skin to my toolbar and wow there it was my yahoo toolbar. Hope it works for others.

  • Why does the Yahoo toolbar which contains my frequently accessed websites keep disappearing from the Firefox browser?

I recently discovered that I could customize a toolbar to hold all my favorite websites and I could thereby reach these sites with one click. A marvelous feature when it's there, but all the icons keep disappearing. I can get them back by downloading the Yahoo toolbar AGAIN and restarting my computer AGAIN, but that's more trouble than typing the URLs to begin with. There's got to be a better way.

I agree, this is very frustrating! Sometimes it loads with no problems, sometimes it doesn't. I have AT&T/Yahoo and really miss the toolbar icons to get to my favorite sites! I hope this can be corrected soon!

  • Told when i updated my firefox 9.1 my yahoo toolbar vanishedhen updating that the yahoo toolbar was not compatible with firefox

got an update alert from firefox to update which i did and saw a window that came up saying that update was succesful but that yahoo toolbar was not compatible with firefox and my yahoo toolbar has vanisehd and not been able to get it back i have mozilla firefox 9.1

Get the latest Yahoo Toolbar as mentioned in the following Yahoo Toolbar User Guide:

I have checked and the Yahoo Toolbar works fine in Firefox 9.0.1. Check and tell if its working.

  • I keep getting asked to update to the new FF5. I've been waiting to download it (again) until the newest version of the Yahoo Toolbar is compatable. Is it compatable yet? If not, do you know when it will be?

When FF5 came out, I downloaded it right away, but then found out that the Yahoo Toolbar was not compatible with it. Yahoo Toolbar has ALL of my bookmarks on it, so it is something that I have to have. So I un-installed FF5 and went back to FF4 which was compatible with YT and am still using it.

You've been hitten by Apple's recent SNAFU. I fear you are SoL until their pending investigation fiasco is over with.

  • My customized Yahoo Toolbar (v. 2.3.5.20110120033202) would not load properly after I installed the new Firefox 5.0, even though when it checked for incompatibilities while installing it made no mention of the Yahoo toolbar, only the Google toolbar

My elongated (statement) question fully explains the problem I am inquiring about. Only some rudimentary features of my existing Yahoo toolbar were displayed and it was missing all of my previously selected icons which are on file with Yahoo, not my computer. You also could not right or left click for a menu on the options icon (gear icon) to the right of the search window.
It would seem that there are incompatibility issues between the new 5.0 Firefox and the existing most current version of the Yahoo Toolbar add-on. I don't know know why this wasn't detected in the installation scan for compatibility of installed add-ons.
I have re-installed the 4.0 Firefox for the time being in order to regain the use of the Yahoo toolbar and all it's features which I use regularly.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what the problem may be?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • I just downloaded Firefox 5 and it said that my Yahoo toolbar will not work with it. Is this true? If so I will not use this new version and will switch to another browser if Firefox stops supporting the Yahoo toolbar. Thank you.

Add-ons contain a range of compatible Firefox versions, and Firefox honors the listed range by disabling the add-on if you are trying to run it on an unlisted version.
I'm sure Yahoo! will update its toolbar eventually, but not every add-on maker supports beta versions of software.

  • Why don't I have e-mail notifications to the yahoo toolbar in firefox 4?

I updated to firefox 4 2 weeks before and since then I do not have mail notifications to the yahoo toolbar 2 for firefox (it is an add-on)
I contact to yahoo customer service and they told me to contact with mozilla because it is a problem with firefox 4.
I am normally and always logged in my yahoo account..
    Can you please help me?

If you have any other add-ons disable them using the following method or manually. If done manually do not disable Yahoo Toolbar.
Go to to Firefox App Button --> Help --> Restart With Add-ons Disabled.
When firefox restarts, you will see a window regarding Firefox Safe Mode. Check Disable all add-ons and click on make changes and restart. Re-enable Yahoo Toolbar and check if the notifications show up.
If they do show up go here http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes#w_test-for-faulty-extensions

  • Had the Yahoo toolbar, which the current version of Firefox has deleted. Instead I put my Yahoo toolbar links on the Firefox bookmark toolbar. Rest of question in details.

Instead of just having the icons and being able to hover over them to see what they are (in case I forgot) the Firefox toolbar shows the icon and the name- which takes up a lot of room on the tool bar and not all my icons show. Can I change this? It's annoying not to see all the icons as in the Yahoo toolbar I want to see either the icons of my shortcuts only - or I want to shorten up the tab size of the shortcuts so I can show more of them without shortening up the tabs at the top of the page.

    Try this extension. <br />

  • Can someone tell me the steps to get rid of the Yahoo toolbar. I have gmail and the right homepage , and when I updatede Firefox I said I didn't want the Yahoo toolbar, but it is there anyway and I don't know how to get rid of it.

I just want to get rid of the **** Yahoo toolbar! If not, I want to go back to the previous version of Firefox. Can someone help me with the steps to do either one of these, Please!!!

I just figured out how to remove it. Go to the Tools menu and select add-ons. Click on extensions, locate Yahoo Toolbar in the list, and off to the right, you can click on "Disable" or "Remove." I disabled, restarted Firefox 4.0, and bingo, no annoying Yahoo toolbar. Hope this helps!

  • Using Firefox 9.0.1 my Yahoo toolbar calendar link keeps asking for my password. I can access all other Yahoo content from that toolbar except the calendar. Any suggestions?

I can access this calendar by using IE so what can I do? I reloaded the Yahoo toolbar and still have a problem.

    Hi,
You can check if there's a conflict with another installed extension by starting in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode] and just enabling the Yahoo toolbar.

  • I want to remove windows explorer 7 and the Yahoo toolbar, if this cannot be done I will find another browser!

I think this is pretty basic. Your browser has always been user friendly and allowed a high level of personalization. I don't like Yahoo toolbar thinking for me. I don't like the intrusive windows explorer 7. I am disturbed that you choose to base your system on this parasite. You have sold us out!
    Looking for a new browser!

You can remove the Yahoo Toolbar. It probably got installed as an "optional" item when you installed some other software from the internet, maybe because you did not un-check the option to install that extra item.
    *http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Cannot%20uninstall%20an%20add-on
If by saying '''''"remove windows explorer 7"''''', are you referring to '''Internet Explorer 7'''? How do you plan to keep Windows up to date? The Windows/Microsoft update site requires Internet Explorer on your system to use the site.
    As for:
*'''''"I am disturbed that you choose to base your system on this parasite. You have sold us out! Looking for a new browser!"'''''
Firefox is not related to or based on Internet Explorer or any other browser. What ever gave to that idea?
Why are you using such an old version of Firefox? Your version is 3.5.7 which is no longer supported and no longer being updated, even for security related issues.

  • I just downloaded firefox 7 and now my yahoo toolbar is gone--help

can't get yahoo toolbar after installing firefox 7 and updating adobe flash

Looks like yahoo toolbar is disabled as it is not compatible with Firefox 7.
You can force enable yahoo toolbar by installing [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Addon Compability Reporter]
If the addon does not work after force enabling, then i am afraid you will need to wait for Yahoo to fix it.

  • Why is the latest version of Firefox not compatable with the Google toolbar? Will it ever be or do I need to switch back to Internet Explorer?

My Google toolbar was deleted when I downloaded the latest version of Firefox. It will not re-load because it is not compatible. Is this problem with Google or with Firefox? Will it be fixed soon, or will I have to go back to Internet Explorer?
