Newly added contacts suddenly become strangers (not shared their details with you)

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). After re-sending the contact request multiple times (which is instantly accepted, it doesn't seem to even display on my friend's side, he just instantly becomes my contact again) it seems to have sorted itself out and that person is now in my contacts, hopefully for good. Now yesterday I added a new contact and the same thing happens, she appears as a stranger about 10 minutes after accepting my contact request, even though it seemed fine on the mobile app while she was online, but now even mobile considers her as not part of my contacts, and also her profile picture isn't displaying on the mobile app. Note : there is already a thread about this in the Skype for Windows Desktop section, however since this problem has clearly nothing to do with the client you're using and is related to the platform/whatever software runs on Microsoft's servers, I'm reposting this here. Skype for Windows Desktop version 6.20.0.104 running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and Skype for iPhone version "idon'tknowwhat because there's no "about" page apparently" running on iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5S. My Skype account isn't linked with any Facebook nor Microsoft account (it was, but it's been unlinked about two months ago). To avoid this thread the same fate as the linked one, that is becoming polluted by some smart-ass that believes everything is caused by a virus, corruption of the Skype folder in AppData or compromised account, let me state this right now : my password was changed, the account isn't compromised (checked with /showplaces and the only logged in clients are my desktop and my iPhone) and the AppData folder was already deleted, without success (it made things worse my making my entire contact list disappear for 24h, fortunately they slowly came back one by one), so if you have nothing to say please refrain from copy/pasting such useless answers.

Hi, I hope someone can help me.  I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below).  I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work.  I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together.  My contact does the same.  As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact.  When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names.  On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'.  They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them.  I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved.  I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now.  I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed.  I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit.  I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version.  I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out.  I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things,  I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. The person who responded to Andre's query was a staff moderator called Aimi, who had previously told him to send the name of the contact in question who had the grey question mark appear beside them.  I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this problem as I would like it sorted out as soon as possible please. Thanks, Linda F. AndréDaniel wrote:A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). My iCloud is set up and seems to work. However, a newly added contact does not sync from the Macbook to the iphone and iPad. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, txstan

Apparantly it is, On My Mac contacts don't appear in iCloud, anywhere.
Put all your contacts on all of your devices in iCloud (assuming that's where you want them to be)
Go to www.icloud.com, login and see what you actually have in the account.

  • How can i get newly added contacts for a Mailbox User in Exchange Server 2013

    Hi all,
I need to synchronize contacts in Exchange Server and Sugar CRM Application, for that
i need to get newly added contacts for a User in Exchange Server 2013 by using EWS Managed API.
I know how get the list of all contacts for a particular user , but in the list how i can find
    new contacts ?

    Hi Dora,
    that's the fun thing:
You add your own property (and it'll be invisible to outlook users, not to worry).
Extended Properties allow you to define custom property on Exchange Items. And it has a
    method for setting those too.
Here's a short post doing a very simple intro on using Extended Properties.
Glen's Exchange Blog is a generally useful resource when working with EWS, I'm confident you'll be able to find lots of tips there as well.
    Cheers,
    Fred

  • Newly added contacts don't appear in my contact list.

I recently upgraded from a iPhone 3GS to a 4S. When I add a new contact on my phone it does not appear in my contact list. If I go to a new text message and type the name it appears as a suggestion and I can select it that way. I'm unable to edit the contact as it does not appear under my contact list. I have synced in through iTunes and even restored it. The numbers still do not show up in the contact list. I've also attempted to log into iCloud and the names do not appear there either. I've turned the contacts off under the iCloud settings and nothing changed. I still cannot see my newly added contacts in my contact list. Please help as I have tried everything I know and have no luck. It alsmot feels as though my numbers are being added to a "hidden" place. Thanks in advance!

I've never done a sync with any program other than iTunes and iCloud. My groups are displayed in the left corner and they are all selected (I acutally just made up the groups today while messing with this whole issue so there aren't even contacts added to groups yet) and showing.

  • Force iPhone to put newly added contacts under iPhone contact group

I want to be able to have my iphone put a newly added contact under my iphone contacts and not all contacts. Is there a way to force iphone to do this? I am using mobile me, think I remember hearing someone mention a setting in itunes for this. Don't have this option with mobile me.
    Thanks,
    Toby

I agree with Oregon Farmer. All Contacts contain all contacts from every created group (i.e. "iPhone contacts"), so once you add a contact into "iPhone Contacts", the same info is placed in the "All Contacts" group. Sort of like "Music" in library and playlists.
There used to be an option on the iTunes, but from this website, it suggests that option was for the original iPhone http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone/mac.html
I was browsing around looking for a way to add a new contact (i.e. from my recent calls list) directly into the "iPhone Contacts", rather than it going automatically only into the "All Contacts" list. If anyone has an idea, I'd appreciate it. I'm also using Mobileme.

  • Newly added group to address book not syncing

I created two groups in my address book on my MacBook when I first activated my iPhone four weeks ago... I added a third group to my address book today and iTunes is not recognizing my newly added group to sync. I've rebooted several times, my MacBook and my iPhone and it has not resolved. Please help!
    Thank you for your time.
    Erica

Got the same problem. Only I actually synch through USB. Tried iSync, iTunes. Reinstalled iTunes. Backed up Address Book. - nothing helped.
Then i went to iTunes preferences -> Syncing and removed my iPhone's backup. That messed it up. Now none of my contacts sync! DO NOT DO THAT! and still iTunes shows only the old Address Book groups, not the new ones...
Somebody out there, please help. The only way i can see right now is resetting the iPhone. It may get some of my contacts back on iPhone, but what about groups - i cant live without those!.... =(

Hey everyone, i backup my iphone 4 a month ago after that , i defeated the final remaining enemy 'ryth' in infinity blade 2
than after 3 months i bought my new 4th gen ipad 32gb with cellular i installed unfinity blade 2 on it an when launches it it started from begining, don't know why icloud saves didn't worked. and if anyone have solution for IB2 without restoring the hone that would be great....! Plz halp...!!

This is what is backed up
iTunes will back up the following information
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
App Store Application data including in-app purchases (except the Application itself, its tmp and Caches folder).
Application settings, preferences, and data, including documents.
    Autofill for webpages.
    CalDAV and subscribed calendar accounts.
    Calendar accounts.
    Calendar events.
    Call history.
Camera Roll (Photos, screenshots, images saved, and videos taken. Videos greater than 2 GB are backed up with iOS 4.0 and later.)
Note: For devices without a camera, Camera Roll is called Saved Photos.
    Game Center account.
    Home screen arrangement.
    In-app purchases.
Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. If you encrypt the backup with iOS 4 and later, you can transfer the keychain information to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, you can restore the keychain only to the same iOS device. If you are restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter these passwords again.)
List of External Sync Sources (MobileMe, Exchange ActiveSync).
Location service preferences for apps and websites you have allowed to use your location.
Mail accounts (mail messages are not backed up).
Installed Profiles. When restoring a backup to a different device, installed configuration profiles are not restored (such as accounts, restrictions, or anything which can be specified through an installed profile.) Any accounts or settings that are not associated with an installed profile will still be restored.
Map bookmarks, recent searches, and the current location displayed in Maps.
    Microsoft Exchange account configurations.
Network settings (saved Wi-Fi hotspots, VPN settings, network preferences).
Nike + iPod saved workouts and settings.
    Notes.
    Offline web application cache/database.
Paired Bluetooth devices (which can only be used if restored to the same phone that did the backup).
Safari bookmarks, cookies, history, offline data, and currently open pages.
Saved suggestion corrections (these are saved automatically as you reject suggested corrections).
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
Trusted hosts that have certificates that cannot be verified.
    Voice memos.
Voicemail token. (This is not the voicemail password, but is used for validation when connecting. This is only restored to a phone with the same phone number on the SIM card).
    Wallpapers.
    Web clips.
    YouTube bookmarks and history.
    * Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.
You will see that contacts are backed up

Imports from my memory card to Aperture have suddenly become scrambled. Not in numerical, chronological, or any order.

Hi waynecook.  More information is needed in order to provide a helpful response.
What settings are you using in the Import dialog?
Can you sort the images once they are imported?
Are they sorted/sortable in the Import dialog?
Into what container are you importing them?
Is your installation of Aperture and of OS X completely up-to-date?

  • Newly added af:table items are not sorted? Bug?

I have written a simple adf faces 10.1.3.0.4 screen with an af:table and made it sortable calling SortableModel.setWrappedData() with an ArrayList of VOs. When the user clicks a header, the rows are sorted as expected. So far, so good.
Now I do a PPR on the table and add some additional VOs to the ArrayList. Next the af:table re-renders itself and these new rows show up at the bottom of the af:table, IGNORING the user's chosen sort order. Is this a bug or am I missing a step/setting?
Or maybe the question is when adding these new items to the underlying ArrayList, is there a way to force the SortableModel to re-sort its contents?
I can post the sample code if the explanation is not clear. Thanks.

After additional investigation what I found was that the item most recently added to the table is not sorted, but it gets sorted once another item is added, etc, etc. So there is always one item not in the correct order. This simple example below (which demonstrates polling, PPR and height limited table scrolling) will show the behavior. Click on the header to sort the column, then watch the bottom of the list...after the table refreshes (5 seconds), the bottom row will not be sorted.
So my question is, "Can anyone think of a way to get the bottom item to participate in the sorting"?

  • Adding contacts via Mail app not working

New feature for iOS 8 will capture information from a mail message and allow you to add a contact.
It works most of the time, but I have had several mail messages with contact information (phone number, different Email, address) that will not allow me to add them to the contacts with this new feature.  I tested it with a user and had her send me a message formatted the same way as another message that worked and it still would not allow me to add her via the new feature.  Is the phone looking for certain information in a particular format in order for it to be added?
This is being done on an iPhone 5S
    Thank you.

    Awesome customer service, Apple!

  • How do I get a newly added contact on my iphone to sync to outlook?

I have finally gotten icloud to sync my calendar when I make changes on either my pc or iphone4s; however, I can't seem to tweak the contact syncing. When I add or make a change to a contact on my iphone or pc, the changes do not appear on either one. What can I do? This happens even when I use iTunes or Icloud to sync.

Sorry, it can't be done. PDF files don't "populate" other forms.

  • Cant find newly added contact??

I have an iPhone 4S, just upgraded from iPhone 4 where I had the same problem:
When I add new contacts I cannot subsequently find them in my contact list. However when on of these contacts calls me my their # is recognized and the screen will display who is calling - name, just as I had entered when adding them to my list.
I have tried to search in "all contacts" and in every contact folder.... all to no avail.
    Can anyone help me out?
    Much appreciated in advance.

I would try searching by doing a "Search iPhone" (which you get to by swiping left from your home screen) and see where the contact shows up.  (S)he must be somewhere!
