Newly built House needs connection

Hi All,
I've had a newly built house right next to my existing house and I need a BT connection.
Who do I contact about getting this done?
Thanks In Advance
Dizzy

BT are just a service provider, that link toekneem gave you is just to connect an 'exisiting' line, NOT for BT Retail to pay Openreach to install the line plant.
You said your new house is built right next to your exisiting one, is your old one supplied by an overhead pole or underground feed?
If it is overhead you will probably be alright because it may just be a case of running a new drop wire from the pole to your new house. If it is underground then it will get expensive because Openreach will have to run new duct and cable from the nearest underground distribution point.
This link might be helpful and the other links on that site;

  • My iMac won't stay connected to the internet, even though all other computers in my house stay connected

My iMac won't stay connected to the internet, even though all other computers in my house stay connected, and its connection is set up the same way my fiance's macbook is (his macbook is about three years older than my iMac). Every time my computer goes into sleep mode and I come back (even if it's mere seconds after giving the black screen) I have no internet connection. I discovered a workaround for it some time ago, but now that is working less and less, and now my computer randomly disconnects WHILE I'm actively using the internet. Just a few minutes ago, the connection refused to come back until I restarted my computer, even though once again all other computers in the house were connected. The workaround I discovered before and which doesn't work as reliably now, is to click opne Airport at the top right of the screen, click "Open Network Preferences," then click "Assist me," then click "Diagnostics," and wait for everything to turn green again, signalling a connection.

Let's check the quality of your connection since signal strength alone does not insure a good connection. The "bars" that you see at the top of the iMac screen are there pretty much for show.
Hold down the option key on the iMac while you click on the Apple icon at the upper left corner of your screen and select System Profiler
Look down the list of items at the left of the window until you find the setting for Network, then click on AirPort.
In the window to the right, look for any listings of your wireless network name. You may possibly see two listings for the wireless network name.
We need for you to list the information that you see for Signal / Noise.  These will be negative numbers. Post back with your findings and we will continue.
In the meantime, please move any cordless phones that you have or any other electronic devices that are near the iMac as far away as possible from the iMac.
If the iMac is located in a corner or an enclosed area, give it as much room as possible since the wireless antenna is on the back of the iMac and it needs to be able to "see" the room.
Anything that you can do to minimize the number of obstructions like walls or furniture etc between the iMac and the wireless router will help the cause as well.

  • How do you migrating a SharePoint 2010 BI PerformancePoint site to a newly built SharePoint 2013 site?

    Hi All,
I need help in migrating a SharePoint 2010 BI PerformancePoint site to a newly built SharePoint 2013 site on another server. The SharePoint 2010 BI Performance Point site has mainly Analytic graphs and charts that work perfectly within the SP 2010 environment
but do not work within the SP 2013 environment. When I open the graphs and charts within Dashboard Designer I get a ‘cannot access the data source’ error message. The problem I am having is there is no way I can edit the graphs and charts to use a newly created
data source on the SP 2013 site.
    I hope you can help
    Colin

Just been going through all this with a client.
Make sure that you either migrate the Secure Store using the Database Attach method (You'll need the farm passphrase to do this), or ensure that you recreate any Secure Store groups required for users to access the data sources.
If you're not using the Secure Store for access to the data, try monitoring the SQL logs on the target data stores and looking for login failures. The PerformancePoint service account(Or the excel unattended account) may required access to the
    data store.
Also, if you're using PowerPivot, be aware that your Excel files will need to be created in Excel 2013 with the PowerPivot 2013 add-in in order for manual refresh (Or refresh on open) to work.
    Paul.

  • VGA on laptop to HDMI on TV needs connected.

I have an HP 2000 (HP 2000-329WM Notebook PC) With the AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics and only an VGA connector out. Will someone please tell me what it is EXACTLY that I need to get to connect it to my HDMI 1 (PC) input on my TV. TV manual shows that I will need a headphone out to RCA cable for input on TV for audio, and I know that works (and great at that) but what do I need for the vidio portion of the madia. I have read a lot of posts (not just in this forum) and it seems there are some idiots out there that don't know in from out. I just want to know EXACTLY WHAT WILL make this conversion work. Tired of watching Netflix on the notebook when I have this great larger screen that I should be able to use.
Thanks in advance for any sensible knowledge about this. (Notebook was a gift or it would have had an HDMI output on it so I can't bitch about an othwewise good notebook).

  • I have macbook 13 2009 i need connect mini displayport to hdmi

hi i need connect this macbook by mini displayport to hdmi how can i do this?

If you have a DVI input plug on your TV a better solution would be to use a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY with a DVI to DVI cable to the TV for video with headphone jack to RCA sound plugs for audio
HDMI is a badly designed interface developed for the purpose of controlling content not a superior signal. Since control could not be done with analog or DVI connections, HDMI was a new digital alternative to allow whoever wanted to control the content with HDCP.
By definition, a HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection includes High-bandwidth Digital Copy Protection (HDCP). HDCP was developed by Intel, but it is the brainchild of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and it's purpose is to prevent copying of HD material.
HDCP is licensed by Digital Content Protection, a subsidiary of Intel. In addition to paying fees, licensees agree to limit the capabilities of their products. For example, high-definition digital video content must be restricted to DVD quality on non-HDCP compliant video outputs when requested by the source. DVD-Audio content is restricted to DAT quality on non-HDCP digital audio outputs (analog audio outputs have no quality limits). Licensees cannot allow their devices to make copies of content, and must design their products in ways that "effectively frustrate attempts to defeat the content protection requirements."

Mifi devices are usually quite small. Think Credit Card size, and maybe slightly thicker. So not really a big device you need to carry around.
In any case if you are still within the 14 day return period you may be able to return it to an Apple retail store. It needs to be an Apple Owned store, not sure Authorized Resellers will let you do it.
Other than that, bob points out, you may want to try to use the iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad.  If your Carrier supports it.  Like the Mifi device, the iPhone will share its cellular internet connection out to other devices over a Wireless network the iPad can use.

  • House move connection fee demand.

Hi...  I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping a kindly Moderator can help me with a problem which is causing me a lot of frustration and angst!
I've been with BT for many years, and recently completed the house move procedure online.   Initially I was told via "My BT" that a line didn't physically exist at my new address and an engineer would call, costing £130.
The line at my new address did exist, and was connected with all equipment and a dialling tone prior to my moving in date.
I was then told (My BT) that an engineer didn't need to call.
When the next bill was sent I was charged the £130 reconnection fee,  -  to a line which had not been disconnected.
I telephoned the BT helpline, and an Indian gentleman spoke with his supervisor and emphatically told me that I can "rest assured as there will be 110% no connection charge as the line was always live and was not disconnected".
Since then, as my account still showed the £130 charge I sent a cheque (now presented & paid) to cover the genuine charges of £42.33, but then received a threatening letter stating the service would be restricted.
I have written to both BT accounts and BT complaints explaining the above, but have had no reply.
My online BT account now shows the £42.33 as paid, with £130 outstanding.
To reiterate...   The landline at my new address never lost it's dial tone from the previous occupant leaving to me moving in,  -  this can be proven as the phone was used two days before the BT "connection date" when I made an incoming & outgoing test ringer call.
This has now been ongoing for a while and is causing me upset, so I would be very grateful if someone could advise me, please.
    With many thanks,  kind regards....

  • New Installation Help Needed - Connection Timeout

New to the home and Verizon service from a combination modem/router. In Airport Utility, chose to connect to a wireless network and add AE in order to extend my current network (the issue is distance to an important computer). The utility seems to run okay and there is a green light at the end of the routine. I have tried every combination available and either continue to get the Connection Timeout or cannot see the network at all.
    Any suggestions?
I tried adding in my old Linksys router and while the network name appears an error message is always given that the user is not connected to the internet.

josephchatham, Welcome to the discussion area!
To extend the wireless network created by the Verizon base station you will need to connect the AirPort Express (AX) via Ethernet. The AX can not wirelessly extend the network created by that base station.

  • Help needed connecting PC to AirportExpress

I have a desktop connected wirelessly to my router which I was hoping to tap into to pipe music into my living room to play off of some speakers via airport express. However...
I plugged in the AirPort Express, and it just keeps blinking yellow. I ran the install and opened up the Setup Assistant and it tells me that "An error occured trying to use the wireless networking system". I'm am using that very same wireless system to write and submit this post...so I know it works. But how can I get the two to communicate the way they need to?
I should also mention that no base stations show up in either the Setup Assistant or the Admin Utility.

    Welcome to the discussions

  • Help needed connecting 2 routers

Hello, I've been scratching around looking for a solution to my problem for a couple of weeks now.
I have 2 routers (connected as per the pic below) - I have configured it so that I can collect access logs (this is one of the few routers I've found than can log internet URLs) for anyone who connects via wifi on the BEF router, however I can only get an internet connection if I use a LAN port (as per the red line). I've read that in order to log activity I need to connect via the internet port (yellow dotted line), but I can't get it to work and it's frustrating the heck out of me now
Does anyone have any solutions for this?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your help, re-instating the DHCP did the trick (after a power cycle).
    Just in case anyone else needs to do this, here is my final config;
WAG160N is set to 192.168.1.1 with DHCP enabled.
BEFW11S4 is set to 192.168.2.1 with DHCP enabled and auto select IP address.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - just need a Wireless N ADSL router (to replace the two I've got hooked up) that can log all internet traffic now
