Newly Created Folder Under My Folders Does Not show Up in Answers

I created a new folder in My Folders using "Manage Catalog". It shows up in the Manage Catalog window but does not appear in Answers even after I refreshed the display. I've successfully created folders in the past, but this suddenly stopped working. The only thing that I had done was rename the Subject Area in the Administration tool. Does anyone have any insight as to why folders created does not show up under My Folder. However, I am able to create folders under Shared Folders.

Create folder path if it does not exist

I've asked a question similar to this. But what I need to do now is make a folder for the file I am writing. If the path exists, my code works fine. It writes the file as expected. However, if the folder path does not exist, nothing gets written. Note that the file does not need to exist for the code to work. I always thought that whatever path I provided would be created but I guess that's not the case. Does anyone know how to do this?
[Edit] Also, I'm wondering if a file created can be set to hidden in explorer

That's actually no an issue in this case, whether the folder exists or not. I was having a problem with the actual creation of the folder. But we found in the documentation the answer.
For future googlers who might be in the same boat:

This problem occured recently, few days back.
When searching a name or extention it does now show all the files with the same name or extention?

Figured it out I used straight serial cable. put null modem adapter solved the problem.

Spotlight sees comments created in =10.5 but does not show them in Comments

*A most serious and perplexing situation*: Upon updating to 10.6 my huge number of file comments created in the Comments field in 10.5 and earlier OS X versions are reliably detected/indexed by Spotlight 10.6 but are _not displayed_ in its Comments field!?!
Reindexing, an obvious solution step, has not solved the problem. I have also run TechTool Pro 5.0.6 and DiskWarrior 4.2 (though both off the startup disk), to no avail.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to a utility that could make the comments reappear in Comments?
Or is there at the very least a utility that should give one a view of the pre-existing metadata (wherever it may be stored?!#!) so that one can copy or retype it into the (10.6) Comments field??

I'm not sure. spotlight comments are tricky animals. they are stored in several places: in the extended attributes of the file, in .DS_store of the folder containing it and in the spotlight index. I think one of the first two locations is corrupted somehow. also, the fact that you are moving from older OS X versions complicates matters. AFAIK, the system for storing them changed from Tiger to leopard.

select a few files/folders that are giving you trouble with spotlight comments in finder and press "run" in applescript editor. then see if the spotlight comments for those files got fixed.

3.1 Smart folders does not show unnamed faces

I have this problem since at least 3.0.2 (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2379806&tstart=0). The 3.1 update doesn't seem to correct it.
Does anyone have a way to group photos with unnamed faces in an album ?

Sadly this is not the answer to my problem.
But it does work with a brand new library (as I said here : http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11459206#11459206), so it is probably not a problem with all libraries. Maybe only with a library created with Aperture 3.0.0 ?
Nonetheless, as I'm not the only one having this problem it should be reproducible and corrected... I imagine that an Aperture developper would take a look at my library's database and find the problem and its answer in an hour.

I would like to create a new page that does not show up in my "menu" .

I would like to set up a new page on my website for a specific one-time use.
I don't want the page to show up in my menu at the top.
The new "hidden" page will have specific files that already exist on other pages but re-arranged for a specific client.
Is there a way to do this so that I can just send someone a link to the new hidden page?

Open iWeb and then create the page you want to hide. Open the Inspector and then click on Page and then click on 'do not include page in nav bar'. It is as simple as.

Create a DNG file that does not show changes when viewed by others

I am adjusting my RAW Images in Adobe Lightroom and want to export them as DNG without betraying the evidence of my post production efforts- is there a way to save an altered file as a DNG without showing the client which changes I have made when they open and review the files in CS3 (bridge/camera raw)?

The raw data itself is not affected by the adjustments, only the metadata. This means, that the adjustments you made are recorded in the DNG file in XMP format, which is quite clear-text, like

As this can be seen by anyone, who knows where and what for to look, you need to have ACR record the adjustments in XMP sidecar files (which is a better way anyway, you can archive the original file and the adjustments separate).

Startup Disk (under System Preferences) does not show os X or Windows disks

My startup disk options are not detected on Startup Disk. I can boot ok using either OS X 10.5.5 or Windows Vista if I startup holding the option key. Each system is stored on a separate drive on my Mac Pro. All drives appear to be fine.
The only things I have done recently have been setting up my wife as a new user including a new email account, and also plugging in my new logitech Vision Pro. Nothing too dangerous there I would have thought.
Any ideas about what is wrong and how to fix? I have reset P RAM, have repaired permissions. I hope to avoid a full reinstall of OS X. Apple support line has no record of startup disks not being visible occuring before.

If you do not chose which system to boot to by holding the option key, will it automatically boot to OS X?
Are there no options at all in the Startup Disk utility? If the issue is that you'd like to be able to chose which system to boot to, then I've found the software package rEFIt useful (http://refit.sourceforge.net/). Whenever you power on/restart your Mac, it displays a nice looking menu with little pictures representing the different boot options (it will have a picture for OS X, one for Windows, any other OSes you may install, and also will list any bootable removable media).

Named Criteria created, but it does not show up in the Data Controls view

I wish to use a data-bound ADF Mobile ListView in one of the pages on the app. However, only entries of the underlying data that fulfill a certain condition shall be displayed in the list. The condition basically is an "Equals" test against a bind variable in the pageFlowScope. Therefore, I have created a corresponding Named Criteria for the data control - proceeded like described here:

The Named Criteria, in my case, has been created and saved, yet it does not show up in the Data Controls view of JDeveloper. Therefore, I cannot drag it on a UI element to use it.
I only have the "Operations" folder where the quick guide above also shows a "Named Criteria" folder.
Refreshing or restarting JDeveloper did not solve this.

Local Folders does not access all existing subfolders after hard drive restore

I had to restore my hard drive using Time Machine. Now Local Folders does not show my complete list of subfolders. I checked the hard drive location,
/Users/carol/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/u7n9368b.default/Mail/Local Folders
and the folders all are there. I have reinstalled TB without a change. How do I get TB to read those folders? Needless to say, I have a LOT of really important stuff stored in there that I need to be able to access. The data is in there. I was able to open it in text, but it's pretty hard to read that way.

I was mistaken. NOT all the folders are still on the hard drive in my Library. Unfortunately, my Library was hidden in backups and I cannot find it to restore from an older backup. If anyone has a hack for showing a user Library in a Time Machine backup that was not visible when the backup was made, let me know!

Ipod Nano does not show up in Itunes

Cannot transfer songs to Ipod Nano. Under devices it does not show up in itunes. Also I cannot back up either. The only thing that shows up under devices
is Sharing. It is showing up on My computer. How can I fix this.

My Book does not show up in the iBooks Store.

My latest eBook: Light Shadows & Color does not show up when I search for it the iBoosk store. It is under the catagory Photography. But when I seach for it under photography it does not show up. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

Depends on how long it has been in the store. Have you tried search by authors name - as you entered it in iTunes Producer when uploading?

I tried "Copy" and paste but it doesn't work. I tried "Share" with Airdrop and iChat, but the file is inaccessible. When i try to rename the file, it says the filename is too long.
When I try to open it, it says the alias is not good, and asks if I want to fix the alias. I'm afraid to do that and lose all access to this document.
Right now, it feels like a ghost document - it is on the computer intact, but it is in an undisclosed location and inaccessible.
Please help!!

I was able to resolve this by repairing permissions, even though no permissions error was listed specifically for that file.
I could also have recovered it through Time Machine, but I'm interested in knowing how not to have this happen again!
I was afraid of rebooting and possibly losing track even of the ghost.
I did not try EasyFind - I'll keep that in mind next time.

ITunes 10.6.1 update does not show newly imported music in viewer but files are in iTunes media folder, how to correct?

Updated to iTunes 10.6.1.7 today from 10.5 on a Win 7 SP1 64-bit machine and attempted to add new music to the library by both drag-n-drop and import files; this new music does not show up in the library viewer but has been added to the iTunes media folder. My iTunes 10.5 version was working properly prior to the update. Any recommendations to correct this issue? Thanks!

Immediately after the install, Windows was rebooted. I also attempted multiple variations of closing and restarting iTunes and/or reboot Windows. iTunes was unresponsive to mp3 files being added. Since I was unable to see the added music files to the library, I did not try to add other files.
Out of frustration, I let iTunes run over night and to my surprise the added music appeared in the library viewer the following morning. I can now add new mp3 (and AAC also) music files to the library and it immediately appears in the viewer. How or why it now works is a total mystery.
