Newly created 'Z' Info object is invisible

Hi Experts,
I have a peculiar case. I have created 2 new 'Z' objects in my 3.5 System Development box and saved them as local object. But when I was searching for the object these are not visible in RSA1.
But the same I can see when I use it in ODS. In ODS I can see these Z objects in the availalbe infoobjects list.
Is there anyway that I can able to see these Z objects in RSA1.?
Looking for your suggestions.. Points will be awarded.

Steps for creating 0MATERIAL info-object

Hi,
Guys I need help for the below mentioned activities, I need detailed step by step guidance.
Create a copy of 0MATERIAL info-object (and name it as ZZY_MAT) with a minimum of 10 attributes (few navigational and few display).
Create a transformation and DTP (for source system PC_FILE) and do a data load for atleast 100 material numbers.

Not able to see newly created dummy resource object in OIM admin console.

Hi,
Created a new IT resource type and IT resource.Next created a new resource object "ResourceABC" and provided Allow all and Self Request Allowed option. However, still am able to see the resource object "ResourceABC" in the list of resources(when user selects Provision resource template) during self service or request for others.
Please let me anything I have missed during resource object creation. I guess issue is at the resource object level.
Note: It is a dummy resource object.

I have selected the check box for Allow All and Self Request. With regard to assign the resource by going to each organization, I believe is to provision the resource to all users in under that organization. But I want end user to request for this resource with self service console for self/others. But resource is not showing up in the list of resources.

Create new or use existing info object ? How to decide ?

I have this question.
I enhanced the data source with a field user ID, now I am mapping it in the transfer rules in bw. When I searched in the system (ctrl F in infobjects of RSA1) I could find related info objects but they are currently being used in several places.
Can I use the existing one or do I have to create new info object ? How can I decide this ?

Hi,
it just depends on the content of the 0USERNAME or 0USER_NAME depending on use. Usually these Infoobjects contain the source system user name (login name) for example the entries maintained in SU01 of the SAP R3 system.
If your extractor delivers the same entry, feel free to use it. If it is another kind of username (i.e. external system, database user etc.) it may be usefull to define a new object. But if you define your own ZUSERNAME Infoobject remember to provide loads for the Text and attribute fields (if required). This is for free, if you can use available infoobject which are already maintained by earlier projects.

Error when assigning SID while uploading text in the info-object of the DSO

Hi
I have a scenario where I need to extract a char 60 field from R/3 in the DSO.
I have created the info-object which is char 60 which has the master data text activated.
In the DSO transformation I have mapped it to the R/3 field.
While activating the data in DSO its giving the error message
'Value '20 per action plan' (hex. '32302070657220616374696F6E20706C616E') of characteristic'
'Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject ZRMSD '
How to overcome this issue.

Change the InfoObject for this text so that it will allow lowercase letters. To do this, go into Change mode on the InfoObject, go to the General tab, check the Lowercase letters checkbox and activate the InfoObject. After this has been activated, you can then restart your process and this SID violation error should no longer be thrown for this.
If you don't want to do this, then you can use the TOUPPER formula in the Characteristic Routine, in the Transformation, to change the value of this field contents to uppercase. This can also be done by using an ABAP routine like this:
TRANSLATE column TO UPPER CASE.

What are the standards to write info objects

i appended one structure in BSEG table in r/3 for data source 0FI_GL_4 and through that structure i added some z fields to it . now in bw i have to create info objects for those fields .i created data source in which all fiels are populating correctly only i have to create new info objects for new fileds .i am very new to BI please tell me what standards to follow to create info objects. and also tell me which field fell under char field catalog and which field under key field catalog

for your second doubt, the all fields you have mentioned here is Char and DAT data types. So all will be in Character field catelog.
Since mostly keyfigures will have the following data types only.
Amount, Number, Date, Quantity, Integer, Time.
You can use DAT fields as keyfigures but you have to decide that.

Reference info objects

Hi friends,
I am trying to create a cube. I created two info objects as fixed currency. When I am creating a data source after entering the fields it's adding reference field 0unit automatically, so my file format is getting changed. How can I avoid that? One more doubt is what is the difference between pc_file and our own file in source systems.

If the Keyfigure Info objects created by u are
1.Quantity then u should either give unit as fixed EG:EA,KG,LTS..or else 0unit
2.Price      then u should either give fixed currency as EG:USD,INR..... or else 0currency
If in case u have given 0unit and 0currency as the reference for ur Quantity and Price fields respectively then u have to add these 2 fileds Unit and Currency in the flatfile
Flat file format
Material   customer    Quantity unit   Price Currency
MAT001   CUST001    10          EA    20      INR
MAT002   CUST002     2           EA    10      USD
Here Material,Customer are Characteristics and Quantity,Price are KF
Now u can try creating ur Data source as usual.....
Here in the 2nd Question
u can create n number of sourcesystems for exacting flatfile

Hi,
You can create an info-object based on 0EMPLSTATUS infoobject which maps to STAT1 from 0HR_PA_1.

Text data source and Info object?

Hi I have created Texts data source in R/3 and our onsite folks have asked me to create relavant info objects in BW as well.I need to validate against the data source created in R/ 3for use short med or long text all should support mulilang.Can any body please explain how can I proceed with this ?

It is the other way. Once u tick in the master data tab -what kind of text u want-short,long,medium-then that will appear in your transformation.And u can map any char field from ur data source for these based on the length.
So u can check the datasource definition in rsa2 and determine the length of text field in which ur text data will data.
Based on that select in teh info object, then u will get that to map in transformation.

To switch on the Navigational attribute feature in the info object

Hi there,
I have a sceanario where I created an info-object to extract the KNKK table information.
I am using the datasource 0fi_ar_9 to do flexible update to this info-object.
The issue is that: I am adding the required infoobects as attributes to this infoobject.
I want to switch on these attributes as navigational attributes.
But to some of them I am getting the option to switch it on as Nav and not all. Like 0C_CTR_AREA has got the icon Navigational attr on/off. Also 0CRED_GROUP has got this icon across it.
But objects like
0LST_INT_RV -Last Internal Review
0LST_REVIEW -Last Review (external)
0REPR_GROUP -Credit management representatives group
0NXT_REVIEW-Next Review
do not have the Navigational attribute on/off icon across them. So I am unable to change them to Nav.
Any advise why is the behaviour different for different objects ?

Data Extraction from hierarchies in BW info-object

Dear All,
I have a question here regarding master data extraction from hierarchies from BW info-object.
we have a info-object called as Customer which is defined in the standalone BW system. under the hierarchies for the customer we have the Channel defined.
Now I have created 2 info-objects in APO BW for Customer and Channel. channel is defined as an attribute of the customer.
I am wondering to do I extract data from the Customer info-object in standalone BW to both these charactersitics in APO BW?

How to increase the length of the Info object

Hi All
Any one have idea about how to increse the length of the Info object Char(beyond 60). Can you please explain me in detail we are using BI7.0.

Hello Vani,
You cannot increase the length of an info-object beyond 60 chars.However if you want to store a characteristics data with more than length 60, then you may create separate info-objects
for example: if you need to store 'notes' which might have length more than 60,
then you may create info-objects like notes 1/3 ---store first 60 chars.
notes 2/3 --- store next 60 characters and so on.

Uploading of master data
Log on to your SAP
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELLING
1. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
Under that info object select attributes
Right click on attributes and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. Alternatively monitor icon can be used.

Hi Ashwin,
Normally while creating(Activating) info object in background tables has been created for each one.
Suppose for example you IO name is like this ZIO_MID
for this info object the Master data table will be like this,
/BIC/MZIO_MID --> Master data view
/BIC/PZIO_MID --> Time independent object
/BIC/QZIO_MID --> Time dependent object
For SID tables will be created like this,
/BIC/SZIO_MID --> SID table view
/BIC/XZIO_MID --> Time independent sid object
/BIC/YZIO_MID --> TIme dependent object
For this object Text table will be created like this,
/BIC/TZIO_MID --> Text table view
you can directly enter these table name in SE11 and you can directly insert your values also.
While creating infoobject you can unselect those options of "WIth Master data" and " With Texts" .
If you want to maintain data within this objects , Right click your info object maintain master data and execute and click create button , Insert your values.
NOTE: Assign points if it helps

Hi,
welcome to the SDN.
You can assign a infoobject to as many catalogs as you want. Double click on your info object catalog to come to the maintenance screen. On the right side you can choose your other catalog as a template and you can move the infoobjects into your catalog. Addionally they will stay in the other one. After you are done, activate your catalog again.
Another option might be to just drag and drop the objects from one catalog to the other.
