Newly installed Photoshop Elements 3 not launching - help!

Hi there,
just installed Photoshop Elements 3 on the new G5 iMac - both bought a couple of weeks ago from Apple store on-line.
Installation of PE3 seemed to go ok.
But double-clicking the application makes it blink a couple of times in the dock, and then nothing. Tried removing and re-installing a few times..but the application never launches. Any thoughts as to what I can do to fix this?
Is this an issue with Tiger or with PE3? Or incompabability between the two?
Any help would be appreciated!

I recently transferred my old files + apps across using migration assistant from the old iMac (which had been running OS X 2.8 Jaguar). When I first tried to install PE3, immediately after insertion of the disc, a Norton anti-virus disc checking screen came up and tried to check the disc. I cancelled the scan, and carried on the installation. When PE3 wouldn't launch, I figured it might be something to do with the anti-virus software. The Norton stuff was installed on my old machine - but I didn't want to use it for the new mac as I heard bad things about it. I couldn't figure out how to remove all the Norton software, until I came across some good advice in another area of the discussions. I have now successfully removed all Norton files from the iMac. However, despite trashing the PE3 app that wouldn't launch, and then installing it again, I still can't get PE3 to actually launch. Neither from the dock, nor from the applications folder. It just moves up and down once in the dock, and then does nothing. Deleting from the dock, and then launching from applications, the same thing happens, the PE3 symbol appears in the dock, moves up and down once, but then disappears.
Very frustrating. I know the application works well with Tiger, as I've seen it in the Apple store in London... so there must be something I'm doing wrong...
any more thoughts?

PhotoShop Elements does not launch

I purchased PhotoShop Elements; did not download the trail version. It worked nice; I liked it. I then had to do a system restore unrelated to Photoshop. Afterwards, I re-installed PhotoShop. When I launch PhotoShop I have the option to select the Organizer or Photo Editor. I can't launch either; a message appears that says my trial has expired. I have spent 3 hours with Adobe tech support and they could not get it to work. I was told if I still had the issue, call tech support again...this isn't exactly tech support. They also told me that re-installing this software will cause it to NOT launch. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe someone out there has and found a solution that will work for me. Thanks!

How to install Photoshop Elements 10 (not Premiere) from disc?

Can anyone help me? Purchaed Photoshop Elements 10 at Best Buy. Finally figured out how to get serial number. Figured out you have to insert disc 2 first. Wizzard comes up. Only comes up with choice to install Photoshop Premiere Elements 10, ( not Photoshop Elements 10). If I move to "next" it will allow me to install "Trial" version of Premiere, or enter a serial # (for Premiere). If I enter the serial number obtained, it indicates "invalid serial #". Have tried with two seperate purchased disc sets. Best Buy is useless as far as help goes, same with Adobe! Can anyone help?

Have you read this article: Install Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements? Also what are your system specs? Is there a previous version installed or any otehr Adobe products for that matter?

Installing Photoshop Elements 11 not as trial

Hi, I just purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and the installer is asking to install as trail without the option to install full version. How can I install my purchase application? I have a Macbook Pro version 10.7.4

you can install the trial, then click help>activate to activate your full version.

Can't open jpg from Windows 7 Explorer in newly installed Photoshop Elements 11

Elements opens but the image does not appear in the editor.
Other people have reported similar problems but I cannot find a solution.

I got hit with the same issue ... but found a simple clean answer (after a while):
The "default program" ("recommended program" when you use "open with" in the explorer context) which is associated with a file extension ultimately points to the following command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 11.0.exe" "%1", which is the PSE Organiser
This command didn't work for me (not even from the command line does this work, so it's a bug). I guess it gets hung up at the welcome screen in the background
I changed the "default program" / "recommended program" to point directly to the Photoshop Elements Editor. Then it works as it should.
To do this cleanly, you need to delete the wrong "default program" entry by deleting the relevant entry in the Windows registry for each picture file extension associated with PSE 11:
For example, on WIndows 7 64bit, the relevant registry entry for .cr2 files (Canon raw format) is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.cr2\OpenWi thList
and may have several entries labled a, b, c...., one points to Photoshop Elements 11.0.exe - delete it.
After the clean up, go into WIndows Control Panel, select Default Programs, Associate a file type or protocol with a program and then for the first file extension use "Browse" to find the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and select it (mine was at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11).
Afterwards, you need to do this for each additional file extension you want to link with PSE 11, but you can pick it now from the Recommended Programs list
Since I only use raw and JPEG, I only needed to change this for .cr2 and .jpg - you may need others as well...
If you are not sure which program (Organiser or Editor) is now shown under the "Recommended Progams" list when you use "open with" from Explorer?

Newly installed Photoshop Elements 12 doesn't open up on my computer.

I can't get past the task menu bar. how do I open up and use photoshop elements 12? I've clicked on Organizer to start organizing media and that didn't work. I clicked on Photo Editor to launch Photoshop Elements Editor and that didn't work.

Which OS are you on?
Please try launching Organizer and Editor from their exe location instead of welcome screen. On windows, double click the exe located at -
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer for PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe
and
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12 for PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
On MAC, click the respective executables from Applications.

Our newly installed Photoshop Elements v.10 constantly locks up in the Organizer.

A small window pops open stating that Elements Organizer is not responding & giving the choice of either closing the program or waiting for it to respond. I we wait 5-6 minutes it will respond but then lock up again as we navigate. Our PC has 3M RAM and the C drive is less than half full so I think the computer resources are ok. We have 5000+ photos in the catalogue. What do I to to fix this annoying issue?

Please try reseting the prferences of the PSE.
Also launch the catalog manager(file>Catalog) select you catalog and click optimize, then repair.
relaunch the PSE, and check out is there any change.

Installing Photoshop Elements did not start

I successfully downloaded PS Elements and PRemier elements onto a Windows 8.1 PC. I retrieved the product serial numbers. I clicked on "Install" but nothing happened. What now?

Photoshop elements 12 not working help

I have just got a macbook pro and put on my elements 12 to find out that it is not very good as it has bad graphics as the whole programe is fuzzy. This is down to that it does not support the retina display. I would like to know weather there is anything I am able to do, if not what do you recomend?
As i am happy to try another adobe product or even something else that isjust as good.
I have tried to use it but it is too hard to work with as i am unable to tell if i do have a pixulated photo.

Barbara, thanks for contributing. I asked about this on Adobe support chat today, and they confirmed this problem. They said they didn't know when a fix would be available for PSE. (PS has already been fixed). Also they told me that I can't return the PSE 12 upgrade I bought from Adobe because it was purchased more than 30 days ago. They said however if I sold it they could transfer the registration number to the new owner (meaning that they would update their records).

Had to go with Method 2, but couldn't locate the Preference file, (yes hidden files are visible).
Following the path you suggest, in C: I have Users>user name>AppData>Roaming>Adobe>Elements_Organiser>12.0>Organiser>Log.txt
And I couldn't find it in S: either.
I uninstalled using the DVD program, and this time was sure I ticked the 'Remove Preferences' box. I CC cleaned registry and files before and after removal and again after a restart.
I did a fresh install feeling very hopeful, but I'm afraid the result is still the same.
I suppose I could try installing on C: in case that is an issue, but it's not a very satisfactory long term solution as I'm restricted on space.

PSE 13 isn't compatible with anything older than win 7, unfortunately.

I had the same issue and I'm running Windows 7. Tried working with technical support for several hours but they were no help. They just had me doing the same things over and over, offering no real answers. I finally got fed up and have decided to return my product for a full refund.

There's been a few of these today. I think there must be a problem with the redemption server and you probably just need to wait a while and try again.

you probably should have two files, an exe and a 7z file in the same directory. if so, click (or double click) the exe.

A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags. I said yes, and the process began. When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've since tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working". I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.
FYI, I have an open case (#0214505556), but have not received the help I need.

This issue is with respect to Elements 13.
