Newly opened windows can trash history and groups if closed last

If I have FF set up to remember last opened tabs and groups, and I open a new window (or a link opens in a new window), then if I don't see that "new" window and close my main one, all my tabs and groups are lost.
In fact the browser will remember just that link, and the main window closed before (with all the tabs, groups, application tabs) gets lost.
This is not just frustrating, but a real design and concept flaw!

Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

Having multiple tabs open in one window, and then opening a new window and closing it, will close the newly opened window, but it will want to close the other original window with the multiple tabs as well.

This only happens if the original window has multiple tabs, and the new window has only ONE tab at the moment you close it.
Also, the problem only occurs when TWO windows of firefox are open. So opening up a 3rd window, and then closing it, will not give you any problems. The interaction occurs between two windows of firefox only.

This can happen if you drag a tab slightly down in the browser window while clicking.
Firefox has a feature called tear-off tabs
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can also do this via the right-click context menu of a tab: Move to New Window
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

I can open Windows Live with Ff4 and can 'see' emails but cannot open them. It was fine with Ff3. Is there a plug-in?

If I right click on the messenger icon on the toll bar it opens windows live in firefox by default. Then the page just hangs. I can see the emails but cannot open them. It works ok if I load in internet explorer browser.

That format is used primarily to record TV shows, which you are generally not allowed to edit. So it's unlikely you'll find a plug-in or converter.
Recapture using Premiere Pro or HDVSplit. Those files will work.

I deleted my browser history and cookies I suppose.
I was on a trip and added quite a bit of data.
Back home I have the same hdd with all data intact.
How can I copy just that data into my installed hdd now?
If I use migrate, I think, it will overwrite my existing data....?
Or is there a way, just to get all cookies and history only back?

It shows the file names & locations to copy.

Windows 10: Open Windows Are Resized When The Lid Is Closed

I have just done the free Windows 10 Pro upgrade. Everything seems to be working fine; except for this issue. Every time I simply close and re-open the laptop lid, the open windows are resized. Most windows get restored to where they started, yet they seem to ALL have been resized and then sized to their previous location. You can tell because minimizing / restoring windows does not remember the actual last size that you used. But some windows DO NOT get resized back where I left them. Chrome in partiular becomes crazy. Sometimes the window becomes maximized; and other times it gets sized to a smaller rectangle at the top left of the screen. Minor update: I performed another Windows 10 reset: I reset the operating system, keeping User Files. So the system got re-installed. I ran Windows Update until all updates came down. I also ran the Lenovo System Update and installed all updates. Specifically, at this point, I haven't gone looking for additional drivers, such as the graphics drivers --- and on this dual-graphics, there is no control panel for the high performance NVIDIA GPU ... I don't know if that is making any difference. The bug DOES persist; but behaves marginally different at this point ... at least, the open Chrome window no longer resizes; and the Task Manager doesn't move; but other things still jump around, and the open Control Panel window becomes duplicated. Again, this is just by closing and re-opening the laptop lid. The Lid-Closed behavior is set to "Do Nothing"; and the Intel Graphics is set to High Performacen mode. ... So I don't know if they do, but I would not understand why the graphics would switch when the lid closes: they still might. I have another video that captures the behavior. How to open a pop up in a newly opened window

Hi,
I have a requirement where, upon a button click in Main.jsff page I am opening a PDF file in a new window in the same browser. As soon as the PDF file is opened in the new window I need to display a popup which has to come on top of the PDF window and blur the PDF file window.
Currently I am using the below javaScript for doing this.

How do I fix that I accidentally dragged the safari application ( an open window I was on and tryed to drag it to repositions) into an Iweb icon on the side bar, now when I open Iweb it says cannot open /applications/safari.app" ..

I had a safari window open, I went to drag it up on to the destop more but my finger slipped and it dropped into the icon on side bar iWeb that I had been working on. now My iWeb app says "cannot open /application/safari.app" . Ihave already tryed to drag the iWeb to trash and reinstall the applications cd. also, since tryng to figure it out via posts oon apple support that seemed similar ( finding in library and under listing etc )
also.. the tool bar is huge and so I am afraid I have screwed this computer up...

Try following.
First (force) quit Safari, iWeb and all other open applications.
Drag iWeb to the Trash, empty the trash. Restart mac. Recover iWeb from Time Mache backup before you made the mistake.

Can't interact with any open windows, can't interact with flash content

I've already tried reinstalling, resetting and deleting my profile, nothing's changed.
I can't close any Firefox window by pressing "x", or by pressing Alt+F4, I can only close it through the task manager or task bar. Minimising or going into windowed mode is also impossible.
If a new window opens itself (e.g. A download) I can't interact with it at all - It's visible on top of the main window, but nothing I do affects it.
I also can't interact with flash content (like pausing a youtube video)
There is absolutely no feedback when I try. The icon doesn't change.
I recently reset firefox, there are no add-ons, themes etc. installed, the problem persists.
I am running Windows 7 64bit, everything else (including other browsers) appears to be working fine and a virus scan (Avast! free version) turned up nothing.
I'd really appreciate any help!

How do I know if I have bootcamp on my computer? And if I swtich to run windows, can i download and use Authorware?

I am not 100% sure if we have bootcamp on our computers. How can I be sure? And if I do not have it, can i get it and for how much?
Also if I use bootcamp to switch from the mac os to a windows os, can i download a plug in that is not compatable with Mac and use it?
We purchased our iMacs in 11-2010. We LOVE them. We will never switch back. However, the attorney that I work for has to do online training with a Sheriffs dept to maintain some of his credintals. We check with the help desk and they just do not support any apple products. Their online training requires two plug ins, Adobe flash, which we have, and Authorware, which will not work on our macs. And like I said the website's help desk just doesn't support any apple use.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Boot Camp Assistant is included on the OSx installation disk. There is no charge. Boot Camp Assistant is used to create a Windows partition on which you install the Windows operating system.
You need to buy a retail version of Windows. Once Windows is installed on the Boot Camp partition you can boot your computer into OSx or into Windows.
You can install and use Windows software when you are booted into Windows.
There is a Boot Camp Installation Guide on your installation disk.
