Newly purchased music isn't displaying under Artists

Please help me-this is driving me crazy.
I recently downloaded some new music from iTunes. The music is displaying correctly in iTunes and I have synched my iPod. But on my iPod, the new music displays everywhere except under the Artist section. Why would this be?
Thanks in advance.

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder.

  • HT1351 some of my newly purchased music won't sync

Some of my newly purchased music won't sync, even though I converted it to the proper format.

Music purchased from the iTunes Store does not need to be converted before being used on iPods.  Music from most other sources, such as Amazon, is in MP3 format and does not need to be converted.  So, can you explain "even though I converted it to the proper format"?

iTunes error coe 8012: cannot download newly-purchased music from iTunes store.  Anyboy else get this looping error?

    Hey everybody,
I also was experiencing the unknown error -42018 when attempting to download purchased music. Additionally, I was stuck in an endless authorization loop when attempting to play previously purchaed music. All this started when I installed the latest iTunes software 7.0.2.
I run windows XP Pro, and unlike the majority of users I actually set it up correctly with a dedicated administrator account, and regular user accounts instead of just running as admin all the time. For me, that was the cause of the problem.
The new version of iTunes software required FULL CONTROL privilages on the iTunes and iPod install directories for all user accounts that were using the program. (Previous versions worked fine, so this is a new thing.) Once I provided those permissions, iTunes worked correctly. Follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040 for information on how to provide FULL CONTROL to every user account.
I hope you all find this helpful in solving your problem.
    Good Luck,
    Bill

  • My newly purchased music is not showing up in my library-this is new and how do I get from purchased folder into library.  Thought it was supposed to happen automatically

I bought some new music in iTunes and now my purchases are showing up in the purcahsed folder but will not transfer into my library- I want to get the music onto my nano.  It is in my music files- I see it in the purchaed folder but only 1 of the 16 songs made it into my actual library.  Bugged!

Ha! Just figured it out myself!
Under iTunes Store > Quick Links > Account, there is a setting "iTunes in the Cloud" which allowed me to "Unhide any hidden, redownloadable purchases." I clicked on "Manage" and VOILA! Problem solved.
Thanks, everyone! You were a huge help! :-)

  • My hard drive crashed and purchased music isn't importing

It's shows in iTunes that my music is downloaded, but it actually isn't...how can I either re-import the music or do I get the computer to recognize that the music really isn't there and do the download?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone.  Without syncing :  File>Transfer Purchases
Make sure you have authorized the computer to your account first.
If you sync contacts and calendars to a blank computer, then they will be erased as well.  Another reason why always maintaining a backup is critical.
You can enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer and when you first sync you should get the option to merge.
As soon as you do this, make a backup copy of your computer and maintain it.

  • There is absolutely NO way to drag and drop newly purchased music from the Purchased list on the phone into my iTunes library?  I'm finding it hard to believe that something so simple cannot be done!

I like to make MP3 CD's when I have people over, or when my friends have people over so I can just pop them into the CD player and let them play all night without having to worry about changing the CD or anything.  Well, Apple's music is in AAC format, so I have to convert the songs to MP3 files using the converter in iTunes.  So I'll convert them to MP3's and just delete the AAC file so I don't have doubles.  The problem is, the next time I plug the phone into my laptop to transfer new purchases, iTunes thinks that the songs I converted aren't there anymore because the phone has them as AAC files, and iTunes has them as MP3 files, so it doubles the music again...EVERY time!!  It's very frustrating!  So this is why instead of clicking Transfer Purchases, I would like to be able to just drag and drop the songs I want from the Purchased list on the phone into my iTunes library.  I hope I explained this right...lol.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like I'm able to do that.  I'm hoping maybe somebody here can help me out and give me some pointers on what to do about this.  Thanks!!

That stinks!  I can actually do that at my house...I just plug my iPhone right into the wire that's plugged into my receiver in my living room...but some of my friends aren't "technology savvy"...lol...so they just have DVD players and I'll put the CD in there because it will read an MP3 disc.  What's funny, is I have the phone set to "Manually Manage Music", and when I plugged it into the laptop just now, the one song I downloaded last night on the phone, transferred over to the iTunesl library.  That NEVER happens.  And it only transferred the one song...it didn't double the other songs like it ususally does.  I swear, iTunes does what it wants, when it wants sometimes...lol.  Thank you for your quick response.

  • Ipod suddenly stopped downloading my newly purchased music

I have always plugged my ipod into the computer and it would automatically bring up itunes and then it would update the ipod with the new songs I've purchased.
For whatever reason, I've noted that whenever I plug it in now...nothing happens. It still gets charged but itunes doesn't automatically pop up and do the updates and when I ran a check up the message I received was that my connection failed. I downloaded the new versions and then I thought maybe it was my firewall McAfee suddenly interfering with it so I shut that down and it didn't help. I want very much to download more music but I cant find answers anywhere to help me fix this issue. I'm going nuts~ My email address is [email protected] Please help..Thanks

  • Newly purchased music has vanished (UK)

Last night I used my Touch to buy several songs from the ITunes store as well as 3 films and an audiobook. This afternoon when I came to synch the IPod with my laptop i noticed that while the films and book are on the ipod, the Songs have vanished totally from the device. They arent on the laptop either and Itunes isnt showing them at all.

First I would reset the iPod. You will not lose anything.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
I would also reboot the computer.
If the above did not make your music reappear, did you actually see the music on your iPod after buying them? Does you receipt say you actually purchased them? The receipt and you purchase history has a link for reporting a problem. Use that link if the receipt showed you purchased them.

  • Can't access newly purchased music

I am thinking it might have something to do with iCloud but I just purchased 2 music videos and about 10 songs and I see everything in my purchased and recently added playlists but when I click on them, they are all greyed out and don't do anything when double clicked on. The music videos I downloaded from my iPhone. The music I downloaded from my Macbook Pro. I checked my Available Downloads and nothing was listed. Going back to the purchased playlist, next to the numbered item there is a dotted line circle next to it and I am not sure what that means. Prior to activating the cloud, my music was accessible as soon as it downloaded. The same with music videos and other content. I am not sure what the deal is now that I cannot see or listen to the new purchases.

For some reason after I closed iTunes and then opened it back up, it downloaded my content! This is the second time I had to do this! So my issue has been fixed!
