  • I can't get ahome page that has 6 or 8 tablets of most common used websites. Tried Option "use current pages" without success. Can you help?s

Since having Firefox I have used as a Home page a page with "tablets" showing the most recent pae of my most popular websites. By clicking on this I returned immediately to that site. Suddenly it's disappeared and I can't get it back. I tried "Options Use current pages" but that doesn't work. Help!

You can set the home page to about:newtab to have the page with the 5x3 tiles showing.
You can check the home page setting:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
You can check the value of the <b>browser.newtab.url</b> pref that sets the new tab page page and make sure it is set to about:newtab.
See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):

  • Updated to the latest revision. Firefox will not display my chosen home page without clicking on home icon.

Since latest update...Firefox will not allow a new page to be opened from a link in a current page. It will allow a new tab to be opened (with tabbed browsing checked) but i prefer a new page. Even in tabbed browsing links to things like a pdf will not work at all.
Firefox WILL NOT close. X-ing out will close the window but I can not get back to Firefox without closing it in task manager.
Firefox will not display my chosen home page without clicking on home icon.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • I do not have the pages icon on the bottom right of Safari ios 7. When I press the plus sign at the top right I see 'private' on the bottom left side but there are no buttons on the bottom right at all. I am trying to get Safari to have the tab Rolodex

I am super frustrated with Safari in ios 7.   I do not have the pages icon on the bottom right of Safari ios 7. When I press the plus sign at the top right I see 'private' on the bottom left side but there are no buttons on the bottom right at all. I am trying to get Safari to have the tab Rolodex look of the tabbed windows. So I can see the pages. Hope this is making sense.  Why am I not seeing the pages button on the bottom right of Safari?
    Thanks!

Bummer!  Hopefully this will change in the future.  At least I know now that I am not crazy for not seeing the pages icon!  Thanks so much :)

  • Can you put the tabs on top setting in 'Options - Tabs' so it's easy to get at?

To save all this messing about with tabs everytime a new version of FF updates, I suggest the tabs on top setting is placed in 'Options - Tabs' so it's easy to get at. Lots of people seem to have this problem, for them and me, we prefer to have Tabs on Bottom like they used to be.
Now we have to load an addin to correct this short-sightedness. I think this is a bad idea also. Why can't the browser just work straight out of the box? It did before!
And while we are at it, the new updates should leave our customisations as they were, so we don't have to reset them all every time there's an update. In fact, during an update we are asked if we want to import settings etc from IE or don't import anything, but no option to import from the outgoing FF!!!!
Many moons ago Firefox was a breeze now it's become a nightmare!

Support to disable "Tabs on Top" has been removed from Firefox 29 and later and toggling the browser.tabs.onTop pref to false on the about:config page is no longer possible.
You can look at the Tabs On Bottom or the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore this functionality.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tabs-on-bottom/
You can move the tabs to the lower position just above the browsing area without using an extension with code in userChrome.css as basically you only need to give the Tab bar a higher -moz-box-ordinal-group value (most toolbars have a default -moz-box-ordinal-group:1 to show them in DOM order).
Add code to the <b>userChrome.css</b> file below the default @namespace line.

    #TabsToolbar { -moz-box-ordinal-group:10000 !important; }
    </nowiki></pre>
The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the <b>chrome</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder.
    * Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
    * Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userChrome.css file in this folder (the names are case sensitive)
    * Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the editor window
*Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line
    * Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css. Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userChrome.css.txt file
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

  • Why is the option to put the tabs below the task bar not available anymore? Very very very annoying!

I read some posts about it and can't beleive that the developper's opion should take over the user's preferences. That's def. the wrong direction. Let us decide what we think it's best.

Hi, minhaz784221. To clarify, are you looking for the tab button function on your phone's keyboard to use in the Quickoffice app? If yes, you'll need to press the space bar multiple times to create an indent on your paragraphs. If this does not resolve your inquiry, feel free to add more details in your reply. Keep us posted.

  • Download a file on a separate page without linking it with the current session

    Hi,
    Here is my problem:
In a JSP, the client chooses a link referring to a document which is contained in a blob on the database. This JSP calls a servlet which retrieves the PDF from the blob. I can send this PDF on a separate page if the <a href> on the JSP specifies TARGET=BLANK. But if the client closes the new window, the server doesn't recognizes the session that was going on on the JSP anymore. It looks like the response sent with the PDF takes the pole of the session and the first pending page (the JSP) is not associated anymore with the session.
There must be a way to send a second page without associating it with the current session.
Another way to solve my problem would be to send the PDF as part of a regular html page. I know this can be done, but I don't know how to do it.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks
    Jean Vaillancourt, Montreal

When opening the new window use child instead of blank. That should keep the session intact in the old window.

  • How can I access the Tabs page in the current window, without opening a new tab?

I like the new Tabs page. I'd like to open it in the current window, without the need of opening a new tab or window.
    Is this possible?

You can make a bookmark and set the location to about:newtab to open that page in the current tab.

My interface -- buttons (back, forward, reload), firefox tab, groups, etc. -- does not look like the sample on your "firefox features" page. ("Groups" seems not to function at all.) I'm running the current firefox 4 download on Windows XP. Can you help?

    cor-el
Thank you for your swift reply. I don't know that this has helped me, as I've reached my level of tolerance for fooling with this annoying little problem - for today anyway. It has been going on since I "up" graded to Firefox 4. My wife is running 3.6.x on her laptop with none of this foolishness. As BLASPHEMOUS as it may sound, I've gone back to IE for the time being even though I don't like it 1000th as much as I do Firefox.
Not just to rant here, I would say that I found a way to put some buttons on the right side of the toolbar that immediately gave me permission to "back, forward, and reload", but upon closing the browser and going out for dinner with the wife, I find on return that not only are those buttons NOT still on the toolbar, but I can't find them anymore. I think they were in "add-ons" found under I believe Add-On Manager.
I did also manage to achieve back/forward functionality running Firefox in SAFE mode, but this meant no No-Script, among other things, and I've grown too fond of that particular little script to give it up.
I've rebooted, restored, and reinstalled, can't get this formerly completely reliable program to work like it always has. Before looking around on here, I was beginning to think it was my PC.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, cor-el. I'm going to see if I can get on live chat on Monday.

  • Send a request without leaving the current page?

    Hi,
    I got a question here:
In a jsp page, when the user changed a option in a drop down box, I want the page to send a request to the server doing some operations on the database(probably use a bean) but still stay at the current page. How can I do that?
    Another simple question is:
There're 10 elements/components in a FORM, and the user is changing the options in a drop down box (one of the 10 elements/components). Is there any way I can know which elements/components the user is playing with ?
    Thanks in advance!

it is your own risk to your applets to communicate with DBs because nobody suggests that. I agree with the Javascript story and the frames. It can be done but i thought he wanted to do that in one single page. And finally, i dont trust frames that much. I have seen many times the 404 error found on pages and because i use dynamic pages i have to make connection for each frame. and with throusands users being online it is bad for my server (traffic).

  • Word Stopped Printing the correct current page, prints page #1 instead

Word 2013 will no longer print the correct current page when asked to do so--it prints page 1 instead.  There is no problem with the document(s) involved as they will print the correct current page with another user.  If you highlight a selection,
it will print that correctly, except without the headers and footers.  If you specify the section and page numbers, that also works (and the headers and footers come out OK). The print drivers are not the issue as the printer drivers
in question are on the print server and work as expected for other users.
Creating a new profile for the user does fix the problem, but only temporarily, in a week to 2 weeks the problem comes back.  I am looking for a simpler solution than creating a new profile every week or 2 for the user.
I have tried the following steps without any success.
Deleted all the normal.dotm files from the computer and have
Deleted the Word Data key in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER|SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word.

    Hi,
I first suggest you check the printer setting, since the problem may by caused by the incorrect printer mode. We can also try updating the printer driver to the latest to check the result.
Is the source file is openning in the Compatibility Mode? Whatever it is, please copy all of content from your current document to a new creating docx to check the result.
If the issue still persists, please try to repair Office from Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Office 2013 -> Change -> Repair.
Feel free to let me know if you have any other concern.

  • I just downloaded the new 4.0 an now when I click on the tab it won't even load up, it'll look like the page will show up but then it won't an the it'll look like I never even clicked on it. What is going on? Why won't firefox work?

My firefox was working perfectly before when I had the 3.6 but now it just won't load up at ALL! I've dealt with it crashing on me while I was on the internet but I've never clicked on the tab OVER an OVER again an still not even having the home page show up on my screen. Its getting really frustrating and I now really wish I'd of just left my firefox the way it was. . .can you please help me??

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#Use Internet Explorer 8 or 9 and go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] Do not choose "Run" when you see the prompt, but instead choose "Save" and save the file to your desktop.<br><br>

  • I open a site, it loads and i'm already reading or looking at it and suddenly it turns into a blank page without me doing nothing or moving or clicking anywhere. Have happened to me on 3 different addresses

    Hi.
I'm having a problem with Firefox. Lately it have happened to me that I'm looking at a site and suddenly the site turns into a white blank page and that happens without me doing anything or clicking anywhere. The site loads normally and I can navigate through the page but then all the content disappears and shows just a white page. At first I thought it was a problem with the address because that problem happened to me just in this one(http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=231&cat=144&category=142) while I was looking at the classifieds but today I was browsing other pages(e.g. www.collegeboard.org) and the same thing happened. And it doesn't happen on every site, so far is has been just in a couple of addresses. Then, in order to fix this, I have to click the "go back one page" button to get to the same page I was on. It looks like when it turns white is because it goes to a different page because if I reload that white page nothing happens until I click "go back". I hope you can help me.

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />
