News Feed - OneDrive Links

Hi All,
Looking for some feedback, so we just upgraded from SharePoint 2010 Enterprise to SharePoint 2013, it seems everything went fine, however I noticed that the top page Newsfeed and OneDrive menus when clicked takes me to the same MySite page that has Profile,
Tags & Notes, My Links, Document Libraries and Organization Browsers sections. Also the left (Quick Launch) menu shows Newsfeed and About Me and they also take me to the same page as the top Newsfeed and OneDrive links, is this correct setting or do we
need to do some additional configuration for it to work correctly. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
AJ

Hi Ajay,
You could upload screenshot to a shared web platform, such as OneDrive, then assign read permission to everyone and post the url here.
I captured the screenshot of my site Newsfeed and SkyDrive page:

  • News feeds unstable and contacts not linking !

Well the share option has been resolved in update but now as I log in the news feeds are very unstable, they jump from new posts back to old then when I update back to new! Also I had to uninstall facebook for double scheduling issues and now my contact are not linking with existing contacts, now I have many doubles! Urgh I wish this facebook app would just run properly before I delete the whole account and let facebook know this was a BlackBerry nightmare issue, maybe they will ban them!

I am at Mavericks (10.9.1), with iPhoto 9.5.1
I have trouble with the "select a Contact Card picture from Faces" option of Contacts, and for that reason I am looking at older related issues. I had a similar problem like the one described by jllamasaspa:
Some of the Contacts did not show up in iPhoto when typing a name, although these *names* are in Contacts.
    Solution in my case:
The Email address of a contact (person) NEEDS to be unique in Contacts (for linking to iPhoto)!
    Example:
Some of my friends like to share an Email address, for example AnnaAndPeter_at_domain.com.
If one has two Cards in Contacts, one for Peter and one for Anna, and both Cards contain the Email address, only ONE of them will be offered by iPhoto as a contact (or person) to link to.

  • Create task from conversation thread in news feed - Task must be created in custom task list

    Hi All,<o:p></o:p>
    Have a new requirement
were user should be able to create a task for himself from a conversational
    thread in News feed.<o:p></o:p>
    In
SharePoint 2013 we have a functionality where we can follow up on a
conversation and it creates a task in My Tasks which is in My site.<o:p></o:p>
    But my requirement
is to create a task in Tasks list in same site collection on click of follow
    up.<o:p></o:p>
    I have
tried one approach as below :<o:p></o:p>
    My Tasks in
My site is an aggregated view of all tasks assigned to the logged in user. When
i follow a task in News feed a personal task is created in My task
(WmaAggregatorList_User internal name) list. When i Edit the personal task and
    change the Projects
drop down to the required Project Name and Check -"Make this task public to project
members" it just creates a task is specific Site and moves
    the task.<o:p></o:p>
    I tried to
find if Projects and Check box are columns of Task list , but did not find any
    columns.<o:p></o:p>
    I am trying
to create a event receiver which would make these columns be set to Site Name
and check box checked so that when user creates a task it will directly move to
    Custom Task list.<o:p></o:p>
    Please
    guide <o:p></o:p>
    Thanks in
    Advance<o:p></o:p>
    Pallavi

Thank you for your responce. I used a content query wp to rollup only the Major Milestones, but am unable to overlay the results to a calendar.. The link you provided is for overlaying different task lists onto a calendar, but does not detail how to
overlay the results from the content query onto a calendar.

  • I'm using iphone 4s and after upgrading to ios 6, my facebook app seems to have lsot the 'share' button altogether, which means i cant share anything on my news feed. I cant change my profile or cover pic on fb which i could before the upgrade. Help Pls

I'm using an iphone 4S with IOS 6. Before the upgrade I was able to share thigns from my news feed on facebook and change pictures (profile, cover) from my phone. After upgrading I cannot share or change pictures or articles. I've tried resetting my phone, deleting and re-installing fb app, but no success. Would appreciate any help, suggestions...Cheers

I've never been able to share FaceBook posts nor seen the option using the iOS FaceBook app regardless the FaceBook app and iOS version. I can Like and I can Comment, and if I select a link or video to view under iOS 6, I can use the Share option for the link or video, but not for a post.

  • I'm moving my podcast and I don't know where to put the itunes:new-feed-url into the code. I'd love to just have somebody point to the right spot. Please advise.

It doesn't go anywhere in that: that isn't a feed, it's a web page. A feed is a text file in XML format.
Would you like to post the URL of your iTunes Store page?
This page about podcasting includes a basic sample feed so you can see what one should look like, and at the bottom of the page is the method for redirecting iTunes to a new feed.

  • Set maximum Number of post in News Feed WebPart

Is it possible to configure maximum number of Posts in News Feed webpart under following and EveryOne.
Also would like to know more about Newsfeed webpart internal functioning. Any link woud be really helpful.
Ashish Baranwal To know what you know and what you do not know, that is true knowledge

    Hi Ashish,
The Newsfeed contains recent activities from followed entities. The
Newsfeed displays 20 items and is sorted in reverse chronological order. Items listed in the
Newsfeed are activities from entities a user follows, and conversations from any site feeds the user follows.
The Everyone feed shows the last 20 posts or replies across all users. The distinction between the
    Everyone feed and the
    Newsfeed is that the
Newsfeed only shows activities from entities the user is following.
    More information, please refer to:

There is not an OOB way to change the max number of posts in Newsfeed. You may try to use Code to achieve it. Here is a similar post for your reference:

I recently moved my clients podcast feed and set it up (with WP Podpress plugin) with the new feed URL. I submitted it to iTunes but it has yet to show an update:

The feed validates, the source code shows all of the necessary header info for itunes - what am I missing... why isn't it updating?
    Thanks for your help!

iTunes is looking for a feed at
    https://www.calvaryqc.org/xml/podcasts/02080425.xml
and not finding it. The connection is a secure one - https - and when tested in FireFox reports that it uses an untrusted certificate: but even over-riding that shows that there is no file at that address. It is to that feed that you have to add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag (it's present on the feed you link to but simply links to the same feed so it's redundant).
Unless you can place a feed at the URL I quote above which iTunes can read (as it must have done once as there are episode showing in the Store, albeit rather out-of-date) you will not be able to redirect iTunes to your new feed.

  • Context Menu: Facebook Home (News Feed) Images Are Not Recognized

You only see context menu items if they apply to the situation. If you right-click on an image, you will see items such as: View Image, Copy Image, Copy Image Location, Save Image As, etc. There is no exception for images which are a hyper-link. But in Facebook Home (News Feed), images of posts do not apply to the situation. Whereas images of Users' Profile Pictures (little images shown next to user's name in posts and in comments) DO apply.
So if you right-click on an image of a post, you won't see items such as "Copy Image Location". You will have to click on that image, and in the next page (the full-page preview of the post) right-click on the image in order to copy its location or save it to local drive.
Am I doing anything the wrong way, or is this a shortcoming of Firefox in features and options?

Sorry, I had missed your reply.
You can right click an element on a web page and open the built-in Inspector to see which element gets selected.<br />
If you get the normal context menu there some other element gets selected.
Current Firefox versions have a lot of built-in web developer tools including an Inspector and Style editor.

  • News feed with Dreamweaver CS4

    Hi!
I'm looking to add a simple news feed to my website.  It can either be rss or just static as we don't have much news.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  Ideally I'd like a scrolling news list on the homepage and a news page template with repeating regions for new articles.I found this link http://www.webreference.com/programming/rss_feeds/ but I want to make sure this isn't outdated or if there's something else I should use. Thanks much! This forum has really proved helpful for me.
p.s. I have ASP, ASP.net for server technology if needed.

I use MX2004 and CS4 on one machine (for the same reasons)., so it should be O/k.

  • Mistake in OTN RSS News Feed

    Hi.
The second item in the OTN News Feed titled "Web Services Development Made Easy" has an incorrect anchor definition which makes it appear as text rather than a link. To be precise there is a whitespace between the "<" and the "a".
    Cheers
    Tim...

Your rapid response is overwhelming...... NOT!

  • RSS News Feed Down

The OTN News Feed is down again. I've tried to contact OTN about this problem but I can't get through so I'm hoping someone there will read this and sort it. The resulting XML document is missing [link] tags making the document invalid. It's been unavailable for about 4 days now which is pretty poor!
Come on OTN, get your acto together!
    Cheers
    Tim...

Please try the OTN feedback form.

  • Dynamic news feed

    Hi!
I want to build a dynamic news feed for my application. By example, I have 5 news stored in a database, and I want to view them one at a time and the viewed news change after each 5 seconds. Any idea how to do this with webcenter or if there is already a component that does it? I have searched a lot, but I didn't find any clue about it and no tutorial.
    Thanks a lot!

You can try jquery to achieve your desired result.
for reference you can visit the following link-
    http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2009/08/25-awesome-slider-techniques-need-to-have-for-any-web-developer.html
where by using slider you can display the news in certain timeframe.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Error message on searching for system updates and news feeds

I always get an error message when I attempt System Updates and when I attempt to subscribe to news feeds through the app that is pre-loaded on my phone.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello Mitch4815,
Thank you for reaching out for assistance with the New Feeds on your new Droid Bionic. I too own this device and I hope that you are as happy with yours as I am with mine. I've subscribed to the Reuter's Technology News on my Bionic so I can stay in the know on the latest and greatest rumors in the wireless world. Not only is it my job but I enjoy reading the speculation on the latest and upcoming devices. Needless to say I've had an experience that's similar to yours.
When I received a subscription error, I had to do a factory data reset on my new Droid Bionic in order to successfully subscribe to the News Feeds. Although I do recommend that you try this, let's save this step as a last resort. Please try to remove the battery while the device is powered on & re-insert then power the device on. Afterwards, verify that you have a good 3G/4G signal, anything more than 2 bars. If you are still experiencing access issues then the factory data reset would be the next step. Here is a link on how to perform a factory data reset on a  Droid Bionic.
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=46649
Of course you will have to reactivate your device after the factory reset. Prior to completing the reset I recommend verifying that your contacts are backed up on either backup assistant or on your Gmail account. Also, your pictures, videos, and music will be saved on the memory card so this info is not in danger. After you have completed the steps above, please reply to this message as your experience may help others.
Thank you for being the best part of Verizon Wireless.

  • RSS OTN News Feed Broken!

    Hi.
The RSS OTN news feed is broken. It appears the document is missing. Has the URL changed or is this a mistake?
The link from the OTN front page is also broken.
    Cheers
    Tim...

It's gone again. Don't ignore the post :)

  • Where did my RSS news feed go?

After upgrading to Mtn Lion, the RSS news feed in my menu bar is missing.  How can I get it back?

I for one used Safari RSS nearly hourly because I travel international and it is sometimes the only way to stay in touch with things.  Sorry that one of my most used items is missing.  Definitley not happy about now needing to pay $4.99 for 'reeder' or anything when previously it was no cost.  Plus, I'll have to now have another 3rd party Google reader account allowing Google another way into my MBA.  To say nothing that if this comes through Google there are many countries where I travel that limit Google's reach and the reeder if blocked.
If you do use a 3rd party RSS reader where is it going to show up?  Menu bar?  Desktop?
BTW, where to you send comments to Apple about items they cut from 10.8.  In this case it is a problem because many countries block certain news items.   Something that worked with Safari because the link was different than using a specific news reader.
