News MacBook Pro 2011 screen yellow

I have a MacBook Pro 13 i7 processor and the screen yellow
Does anyone know about this problem and have advice that would save me a trip to the Apple store?
thanks!

I actually had a similar issue happen to my macbook pro recently.
The screen turned aqua and I could not fix it. I took it to best buy geek squad (theres where I bought it w my warrenty) and had them look at it and they said that it was due to the wires inside the computer connecting the keyboard base to the screen being lose or disconnected.
First, check if it is the display settings. Just go to display preferences and click the color option, you shouldnt have to change anything. If this works, then nothing is wrong with your computer. If not, its probably the above situation (wires disconnected).
They have to send it for a repair, which can be expensive if you do not have a warrenty. The total cost for mine was $1700, so they let me get a brand new computer for the value of $1800 and they give you back any money that is left over on a gift card.
If you have a warrenty, take in for repair ASAP. If not, you can expect to pay a hefty price to have it repaired.

  • Unable to watch Adobe Flash / YouTube - OS X 10.6.6 - New MacBook Pro 2011

    Hello,
    I'm new to Mac family.
I recently got new MacBook Pro 2011 15" model. However I'm unable to watch videos on YouTube. It shows Adobe Flash Player is out of date. My MacBook Pro software up to date. I tried to download and install latest version of Flash Player from Adobe website. Installation went successful, but nothing works.
I tried on both Firefox and Chrome builds too. I even restored MacBook Pro to default settings. I'm just wondering, whether Mac supports Adobe Flash Player at?
Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone else have a solution to this issue that does not involve doing a fresh install of Snow Leopard? That solution is not acceptable to me.
I did a system migration from a Time Machine backup when I purchased my new 2011 MacBook Pro last week. All my applications seemed to be working normally until I attempted to watch a YouTube video in either Safari or Chrome. In both browsers, all I get is a black screen where the video should be playing.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of the Flash Player for Safari and I am not able to manually update the Flash Player for Chrome since that browser keeps the Flash Player up-to-date automatically. The black screen persists when attempting to watch a video on YouTube. I cleared the site cache for the Flash Player just in case something was buggy there, but the problems remains.
Any assistance would be much appreciated!

  • Brand new MacBook Pro 2011 got stolen

sorry I can't find a place post this so I post this here. This unfortunate event happened yesterday. I got my brand new MacBook Pro 2011 from the apple store and I went to pick up takeout at a plaza 10 mins away. My car got broken in and my Brand new MacBook Pro was stolen. I just went to pick up take out for 10 mins only. I m wondering if there is anything that Apple can do such as tracking the serial number? I have the receipt with me luckily.
    Thanks

i have had my macbook stolen before
the apple store people will say you cannot do anything
you have to call tech support, its the tech support people that will flag your serial number on your laptop
unfortunately with you laptop only being a few minutes new, and they probably stole the whole thing with box and components you have a lower chance of ever retrieving it,
i feel for you man, i know what it is like to get your mac stolen

  • Brand new Macbook pro 2011 15" screen shifts

    Hello there
I've had my new macbook pro for 4 days and I've been having problems with the screen.
Time to time the screen would begin to flicker a little for a minute, and finally shift completely to the left. The left part that gets cut off the edge reappears on the right end of the sceen. There is a black bar about an inch thick where the split occurs. The cursor still works at this point, but is useless and I have to restart my laptop.
This shifting has happened 6 times so far I think.
If it doesn't shift, then the screen would turn completely black but it's not turned off (the music that is playing keeps going but is 'stuck')
This blackout has occured 4 times.
The problems are occurring more frequently now.
*lol I was in the middle of typing this on my macbook when it shifted again (this time halfway) and now I'm on another computer and I recovered everything I typed. Thanks apple.
At first I thought it was because of Photoshop cs5 or youtube, both of which were running when the problems occurred. But now the problem occured again without any of those programs running except for Google chrome.
I would appreciated some advice. Thank you

  • Where in NYC can I buy a new Macbook Pro 2011 unibody trackpad and the tools i need to replace it myself?

I am going to NYC in a week and I'm wondering if there is a store where I can buy a new trackpad for my Macbook Pro 2011 unibody. I would also like to buy the tools i need to replace it myself. I can't find anything when I search the interwebz.

The problem is that when the machine is closed, it goes to sleep, and in sleep mode, all that goes on is that a bare trickle of power is used to keep the contents of RAM alive.  Networking is definitely not active while asleep.
Now, regarding ds store's solution, that's a fairly bad idea.  If the machine is just sitting at your desk, you don't need to close it, or if you feel a need to close it you can use Kappy's solution.  (Although, it should be noted that apps like InsomniaX and Caffeine do not, as far as I know, keep a machine awake when the lid is shut.)  If you're worried about passersby seeing your screen, just activate the screen saver instead.  You could even require a password to dismiss the screen saver for added security.
On the other hand, if the machine is being transported, keeping the lid open and the machine running is not a good idea.  The sudden motion sensor ought to protect your hard drive against damage caused by moving the machine around...  if it's working properly, and I'd rather not depend on an "if" to prevent hardware damage to the machine.  Plus, if it's in a bag and you've forced it to stay running, it could overheat due to lack of ventillation.
So, long story short: if you're transporting it, close it and deal with logging back in to the network, and if it's on your desk, don't bother closing it.

  • Macbook Pro 2011 Screen Black/Sleeping

I've had my MBP 2011 for less than a week. This happened once before, but I shrugged it off, and now it's happened a couple times just today. This happens when I close my computer and it goes to sleep. After I open it, instead of waking normally and functioning, it either
    a) does not wake from sleep, screen stays black (so far I've simply closed it again for a few seconds, and opened it again and then the screen will come back)
    b) wakes from sleep, goes to normal screen for a second, then the blue screen for a second, and then comes back to normal
Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

My experience is the same. With Avatron's Air Display installed I have two issues (below), when I uninstall Air Display they go away.
I have a new Macbook Pro, 2.3 GHZ Intel Core I7 running OS X 10.6.7. All system (and firmware) updates installed.
I mentioned two issues when I have Air Display installed.
    1. During the boot process the screen briefly shows what appears to be corrupted video memory. See this image of the screen.
    2. I have the black screen on wake issue as described here and elsewhere.
I don't know that they are correlated but it seems reasonable to expect they are. In any case, both issues appear to go away immediately when I uninstall Air Display using the provided uninstaller.
I have tried touching the Extensions folder, booting in safe mode, etc. I have spent many many hours (more than I care to remember) trying to narrow this down, and I think this is it. I will leave it uninstalled for a few weeks and see.

  • Have you had New MacBook Pro retina screens crack?

I have a new MacBook Pro and all of a sudden the screen cracked. I haven't dropped or done anything to it. Has a anyone had that problem?

You should buy a hard case to protect your mac book. The hard  case clips on to the Macbook pro 15 inch . I have a hard case and a soft "incase" as well, which i bought from the apple store for when i carry my Mac Book retina. I understand you can buy screen to also stick onto the front screen to protect the LCD.

  • New Macbook Pro 2011 - Keep freezing......

    Hi All,
My new macbook pro keep freezing from time to time......Even though I have updated the OS to 10.6.7, the problem still exists....
    Anyone can help?
    V

If the "funny noise" was a clicking or clattering it is probably a failed or failing hard drive. No, I don't think it had anything to do with the update. I'm assuming the "funny noise" was not the sound of the CD/DVD drive waking up you hear each time your reboot. Does it still make the "funny noise?"
If it is now working, I can't tell from your post, you probably should make an appointment at an Apple Store to have it checked since it is new.
It is generally a good idea to empty the trash and repair permissions (using Disk Utility) before and after any update. You should have a copy of Onyx on your HD. The developer is very active so keep up with the updates. it is free. It's a good idea to follow the instructions.
If I could only have one heavy duty repair solution, it would be DiskWarrior which is available at most Apple Stores. The developer has been around since System 8 or System 9 days. DiskWarrior is $99.95 and considering it will repair problems that other utilities can't touch, it is a steal. I run DiskWarrior about once a month.
Finally, I would get AppleJack which only runs in Single User Mode. That means holding down the <Command> and <S> keys at startup. AppleJack makes it possible to run Disk Repair without having to boot from an external drive or using the install disks. Follow the instructions. AppleJack is free. A plus is you will get to see what is going on "under the hood" because Single User Mode is mostly just the Unix part of Mac OS. You will get to see what all computers looked like just a few decades ago.
    Good luck

  • Itunes shuts off new MACbook pro (2011) after 15 min

I have a new 2011 Macbook pro (May 2011). I have set all time-outs (screen saver, economy modes) to "never" in the account preferences and the computer ought not to shut off ever (unless the battery is empty).
This has helped none: when playing itunes radio on the battery (I have not checked whether this also happens with the power line connected), the computer shuts down the user account and I need to log back into my account  and restart itunes etc. This complete shut down occurs about every 15 minutes. Every 15 minutes (unless I am active on the computer, of course). Every 15 minutes or so.
[I have found a similar complaint for MACbook pros from 2007 3rd generation here, but this is 2011 ...]
In the office I have a MAC PRO workstation and it plays the same station after I return from class, or if  I do not shut itunes down  overnight it still plays the next day, each time with the screen having gone to sleeep etc and with me having to log back into the computer.
    Any advice? similar problems?

    Hi,
I've noticed similar behavior - specifically with the new 2011 MacBook Pro 13 and 17" models (tested) on Cisco infrastructure - using a 1252 and 3500i/e series APs running in dual-band mode, with 5GHz preferred. I've seen the transfer rates when in close proximity to the AP move between 72mbit and 243 - occasionally 300. My 2010 system in the same position is a solid, dependable 300.
They did modify the wireless chipset in the new 2011 MacBook Pros to replace it with a true 3x3 802.11n device. Cisco have long praised the Broadcom chipsets so I will see if their wireless team can advise me on what this new gear is capable of.
I currently look after a very large deployment of wireless LAN equipment so my wireless performance is absolutely critical to my work - the 2010 system was a godsend and a testament to how wireless devices should be built. It looks to me like this could be a software issue so I only hope Apple resolves this ASAP. I'll hang on to my 2010 system for now...

  • Brand new macbook pro - blue screen of death?

I received my 15" macbook pro in the mail only 10 days ago.  I noticed that it seemed a little bit slow every once in a while.  Today I ran software update.  As it began the process of the auto-reboot, it got stuck on the purpley-spacey-image with a pinwheel for WAY longer than it should have.  It became apparent that it wasn't going anywhere.
I then did a hard power-off, and a safe re-boot.  After the progress bar completed, it moved to the dreaded blue screen.  The rotating gear would appear, then disappear with a changing of shade on the blue screen.  Again, I waited WAY too long.  It again became apparent that it was going no where.  Hard power-off, safe-reboot.  Same problem.  Hard power-off, normal boot.  Same problem, but this time with no gear.  What should I do?  I'm stuck on the blue screen.
I've not installed hardly any software - dropbox and prey are the only two I can think of.  I'm using Snow Leopard, not Windows.
Thank you very much for your help,
    Dave

OK! For the benefit of anyone else who has this problem I have solved it. I downloaded the latest driver from the Marvell Yukon website (http://www.marvell.com) but went for the 88E8053 driver - picked that up from a blog elsewhere talking about Win XP 64 bit installs - then uninstalled the Ethernet card driver from Device Manager and restarted. When XP rebooted it automatically found the new hardware and apparently reinstalled the driver (not sure if it was from the drivers it already had or from my download) and now it doesn't crash when enabled. Happy Times!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this saves someone the several hours I've just wasted...

  • New macbook pro 2011 weak and dropping wireless connection

Just looked throught this part of the forum and found out there are a lot of people out there which seem to have the same problem as me.
I purchased a new modell 2011 MBP on the very first day from our apple store.
At home, sitting directly beside the wireless router I didn´t noticed anything wrong.
I have got beside of the Mac OS a bootcamp Prt. with Windows 7 on it and everythign works fine so far.
Five days after purchased I started traveling on business and at present we are for some weeks in Melbourne. Were having a wireless connection in our appartement and here I have got massiv problems with my connection.
We are having altogether four windows mashines with us, my IPad, my Iphone, another HTC smartphone, and my new Macbook.
All the other devices connecting to our room wireless without problems. The net strengh is not fantastic but the other devices bringing it up to four bars on the windows wireless symbol in the task bar. None of the other computers where ever loosing the connection.
Only my macbook can not make it over three bars and its going on and off. Donwloads fail freuquently because the conection is interrupted more than one times..
In my opinion this problem is even worse on the Windows OS and a bit better but far away from beeing good and acpetable on the Mac Os.
I hope its only a driver issue and there is no hardware problem with the new mashine. Other than this I love the new notebook and I am very satisfied with its performance.

  • Macbook pro 2011 screen doesn't dim all the way in part of the screen

    Hi, all--
This is really puzzling me so I hope someone can help me out. My Macbook Pro 13 inch (2011, Sept.) screen, when you dim it about halfway or less, shows something like a yellowish splotch in the middle of the screen, the size of around 4 quarters clustered in the middle. It was to the point where I could easily read the text on the screen even though the rest of the screen was pitch black. Now it's less pronounced (it was really bad about 5 minutes ago) but the middle of the screen is still readable even when the rest of the screen is black.
Does anyone know why this is, or why it might have gotten so obvious earlier? It was so bad that when the screen dimmed automatically there was literally this yellowish cast in the middle such that it wouldn't dim.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

That's not normal, and I've not experienced this with two MBPs. I would suggest you visit your local Apple Store/Genius Lounge so that they can repair the problem. In any case, post here with your results; I'm sure fellow users would profit from the information!

  • Completely new macbook pro 15" screen out of alignment.

    Hi,
I ordered my first Macbook pro 15" retina on december 24th 2013 as a Christmass gift for myself. I recived it on my address January 2'nd i unboxed it an was really happy about, the only thing that annoyed me a bit was that the sceen is like half a milimeter to 1 milimeter out of allignment with the body, i know this isn't alot but i am a bit of a perfectionist so it annoyed me a little, so i told myself that it might just be normal that it is a little out of allignment.
but today my girlfriend recived her Macbook pro 13" retina, and it is perfectly alignet with the body, so i decided that i had to ask in here if this is a common thing,
Do i have to worry about this? will my screen become lose or even more out of alignment over time? or am i just to way sensetive and have to take a chill pill
But again i paid almost 3000$ for the Macbook with Apple Care, so i dont want to walk around being worried about it having a failure from the factory,
And 3000$ is alot of cash when you under education like me.
i live in Denmark so i can't just take it to a Apple store and ask them to look at it, and if i have to return it then i have no laptop and i have quite alot of homework atm :/

I called them and described the problem, and the guy in the phone immediately told that he was sorry, and that he will get me an other Macbook pro as fast a possible, and then he will send TNT to pick up my old one when i have recieved the new one.
I should recieve a new Macbook on monday, and TNT will call me within 48 hours to arrange the pick up of my old Macbook,
Awesome service, i can't affort 1 day without my Macbook and because of this awesome service i wont have to

  • Will a Mini-Displayport to VGA adapter work with new macbook pro 2011

I was thinking of getting a mini-displayport to vga adapter for my external monitor I wanted to hook up but I wasnt quite sure whether it would work as my macbook pro has the new thunderbolt port, I was confused if the new port would only work with the thunderbolt displays. Could anyone help me as I'm not too sure what will work.

I tried the Apple miniDisplayport to VGA in a Thunderbolt MBP and iMac and they both worked. Same for the Apple miniDIsplayport to DVI.

  • New macbook pro 2011 won't eject cd - jammed? help?

My macbook pro has a cd inside and it won't show that it has anything inside - but I know its in  there and can't get it out, help!

Start the computer up while holding down the trackpad button. Hold the button down until the drive ejects the disc.
If that doesn't work, try this:
Restart the computer. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold Command+Option+O+F. Release the four keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware." At the prompt, type *eject cd* and press Return. The drive should eject your disc, and "ok" will appear when the action is complete.
Type mac-boot and press Return to restart the computer normally.
    Here's another method:
Go to Applications/Utilities and open the Terminal. In a terminal window type *drutil tray eject* and press Return. After the disc is ejected, quit the Terminal.
If any or all of these methods cause the drive to make its usual eject sound but the disc still doesn't come out, the drive has failed mechanically, and will have to be physically dismantled to recover the disc. If none of these methods causes the drive to make any sound or do anything at all, the drive isn't getting power, and the machine will have to be disassembled to find out why not and correct the problem.
