Newsstand issues

Hi all,
I'm having a couple of issues with newsstand that I can't resolve and would appreciate your help on: The first is that my subscribed issues for a particular publication won't download properly any more - they'll reach a figure of around 11-13% and then permanently 'freeze'. Having searched the community for similar issues I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this hasn't resolved the problem.
The second problem is with a different publication where I'll attempt to buy a single issue, it confirms my in-app purchase, but then I can't download it - when I retry it says "You've already purchased this but it hasn't downloaded. Tap OK to download it now." I then tap 'OK' and no download takes place and it just reverts to the previous step.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Most probably Apple ID is having a conflict, would recommend to go in to Setting Remove your ID and Add it again
You can also by downloading a APP from Store if that works , your ID is fine.

Update newsstand issue...and newsstand cover image?

Hi there,
We have a newsstand app and we'd just like to push out an update for an issue that's already available - some additional content will be added to this existing issue and the cover image will be updated, and we'll do an Update in Folio Producer Organizer
Am I right in thinking that to update the cover image that displays in the Apple newsstand we'd have to create a whole new issue in iTunes Connect?

If we update our cover image in Folio Producer Organizer will that update the newsstand cover image, it sounds like it?
And can we only update the app store/iTunes cover image via a new newsstand issue in iTunes Connect?

Newsstand issue with Consumer Reports - IOS 8

Installed IOS 8, now unable to access my Consumer Reports in the Newsstand. I receive this message "Cannot Install Item Please restart the app and download your purchase again"
I closed the Newsstand. turned off the iPad Mini Retina. Still the same problem. The Consumer Reports was purchased through the iTunes Store. I have other magazines in the Newsstand and they are accessible, not purchased through iTunes.
How do I resolve?

I have this issue too.
Within Newsstand, I am using the Vogue UK and Vanity Fair apps.
With both of them, I have a number of purchased issues of the magazines.
It shows me the download icon, indicating it knows I have already purchased these issues,
(and that's another annoying thing - why do I lose all downloaded issues everytime iOS updates???)
but when I click this to download, it says "Cannot install item. Please restart the app and download your purchase again."
Well, I've restarted, turned on and off, re-booted - you name it - nada. I cannot download my purchased issues.
Please fix ASAP.

Newsstand issue

How can I drag Newsstand into a folder where iBooks is?
I don't need this app and want to put it away from the finder.

Found the answer. There is a small, and I do mean small, light blue dot below the magazine that has a new issue ready to download.
How about a bigger dot, something old eyes like mine, that would show up clearly. What was wrong with the black banner that was used before?

Newsstand - Issue ID = Product ID

Hi,
I would like to confirm if Issue ID field in Newsstand enroll is the same that product ID I use in Folio Producer.
I search this information in companion guide, but didn't find it

Newsstand Issues- I can't get to my purchased magazines!

I have 3 magazine apps in the newsstand on my ipad2. They are suddenly not updating new magazines. I receive a message "Cannot connect to the server at this time." I have deleted and reinstalled the magazine apps themselves, and I've rebooted my ipad so it went back to the initial settings and tried to download the apps again. The internet connection is NOT the issue as the new magazines are appearing, and I can connect to the internet for everything else.
Please help.

Newsstand issue on iPad 2

I have iPad 2. I have Time and Fortune magazines subscription and I regularly used to download and read them in the Newsstand on the iPad. Now I am finding both the magazines gone from the newsstand. I cannot even download them again from the Store because I see the "Free" button greyed out for both the magazine. Has anybody encountered this problem? Any solution?

I have definitely experienced this.
The fastest fix is to go to your Newsstand and delete Time and Fortune. Then, go to iTunes and download the the widgets anew, and restore the content from both. You'll have to redownload the magazines you're reading.

TS1702 Newsstand issue

I am overseas and my iPad picks up all foreign magazines. How do I change to English settings (newsstand app)?

Check restrictions- you may have restrictions enabled on your iBooks
(settings > general > restrictions)

Play Newsstand Issue

I am using Google's Play Newsstand app on iPad and cannot get the app to maximize within the screen. The app is off center with a large part of the screen (roughly 1/4) as dead black space. It doesn't change if I rotate the iPad nor has re-installing the app or re-starting the iPad helped.
Any recommendations?

Here's what I found, the app must be used in portrait mode. Turn it to landscape and you get the black bar even if you turn it to back to portrait. Double click the home button and swipe the app closed and open it in portrait mode. Also in portrait mode you can tap the three bars in the upper left corner to leave feedback from the app.

Viewer Builder / Newsstand Issues

I am having some confusion in the Subscription Details section of the Viewer Builder.
There are 2 input fields that are not making since to me, Optional Library Subscription Tile URL and Optional Remote Custom Dialog URL.
The info for Optional Library Subscription Tile URL says "Specify a URL with a 180-pixel wide banner that is displayed at the top of the library view."
This does not seem to do at all what the info says, it actually opens a Custom Dialog with the graphic (or HTML) when you click on the Subscription Tile graphic (not the Subscription button in the interface)
The info for Optional Remote Custom Dialog URL says "This URL will be loaded in a dialog when the subscription process completes."
This does not seem to do anything.

Optional Library Subscription Tile URL - Specify a URL that is displayed in an in-app browser window when the customer taps the subscription tile. This webpage can include messaging that is not necessarily related to subscriptions.
Optional Remote Custom Dialog URL - This URL loads when the customer completes the subscription process. For example, you can request user information or provide additional details about your products.

Free Sample Issue

I'm sure I'm overlooking something. I have an app that offers inapp magazine purchases. Can someone tell me how to update my free sample newsstand issue? Do I simply replace/update the folio assgined as the free issue in the folio producer?

Yes. Just update the articles inside the free issue and then click the "update" button in Folio Producer.

Missing music, jumbled letters and a FIX for Newsstand

I have an iPod Touch 4. That being said, the following problems and 1 fix have been found since the 5.0 and 5.1 upgrades:
1. Under artists in the Music App, no artist appears after the letter 'R'. (they appear and play when I search iPod)
2. Under artists, and after the letter 'D', the artists cease to match the proper letter.
What I've done: After cruising the forum for an answer and finding none, I restored my iPod with no success (took a long time). I've added and taken away artists and playlists. I've even thought of sacrificing some sort of small animal (joke) just to be able to get back to where I was before the last 2 updates.
In fact, I was a little annoyed when the last update didn't fix it.
That being said, after the 5.0 update and the appearance of Newsstand, I did everything to hide it (Sorry Conde Nast). A solution I found elsewhere was this:
Form a NEW folder. As it is forming, slip Newsstand in. It takes a few tries but will work. However, once it is inside the new folder, NEVER open Newsstand as it will crash the ios.
Some help would be nice, and I hope I've helped someone else with the Newsstand issue.

Just as an fyi, to shorten this procedure instead of deleting the files i found out you and open the .itl files and delete all the lines in it so its an empty file.
Then open itunes, and it will rebuild the database with the files from the .xml file.
This saves you from having to rescan the songs..

Thumbnails in Newsstand don't update

We just revised the cover image on a couple issues which had previously been published and accessible in Newsstand. The new covers show up in Library view. And though the same new images had been pushed up to the "Manage Newsstand" issue in iTunesConnect, the thumbnails visible in Newsstand on the iPad do not update.
Is there a way to set a flag for the issue in Folio Producer to force the download of a new cover thumbnail from iTunesConnect? It seems that Notify should set that flag, but nothing.

We did not publish a new Folio. We only updated the first article of the Folio (which is the cover) with a new image. We then pushed up a new thumbnail in Folio Producer. And it is that revised thumbnail which shows up just fine in Library view once you launch the app.
But the thumbnail of the issue within the Newsstand app itself has not revised, even though we pushed up the new thumbnail to iTunesconnect.

Newsstand says failed to load the kiosk

Just upgraded from an iPad 2 to a new iPad Mini 3 64Gb, running iOS 8.1.3 - set everything up, synced etc - everything's working perfectly except my subscription to the Times and Sunday Times Newspapers in Newsstand - where I get the message "Failed to Load the Kiosk".
I've tried deleting the App and reinstalling it - and I've also spoken to the tech spport team at the newspaper, who say this is a Newsstand issue.
It works fine on the old iPad.
Anybody know what this is about?

Free Subscription App with free issues equals empty Viewer?

Starting to sandbox our Newsstand issue, but the issue is not showing up in the viewer?
Professional DPS Account with Admin/production and development access using CS6
Here are my steps:
Created a preview issue (folio #1)
This is Free and Public
Created App using DPS App Builder
App type is Multi Folio with iTunes Subscription
Free Subscription
Created App ID in iTunes Connect
In-App Purchase is set to Free Subscription
Enabled Newssstand
Added a new Issue in iTunes Connect under the Manage Newsstand button
Pointed iTunes Connect to this new issue AD (folio #2)
Assigned the correct Certificates and Mobile Provisionings
Back into the DPS App Builder to generate .ipa file
downloaded .ipa file and sandbox on test user iPad
I see the subscription tiles in my Viewer
Click on Subscription tile
Empty Viewer

I'm not quite following. I have the app created and ready in iTunes Connect--it is a "multi-folio with iTunes subscription" and is enabled for Newsstand. The free subscription product ID in App Builder matches the Apple ID in iTunes Connect.
We wish to launch the app with an older issue (folio) and we'll publish the current issue in the coming days. All of the issues that will be available in this app will be free. And we would obviously like the users to be notified when a new issue is available.
Do I not need an in-app purchase for this older issue--the one that will be available immediately? As I have it now, in iTunes Connect, I click on the "manage in-app purchases" and I have this first, older issue that is ready to submit. And in the "manage newsstand" section I don't have any issues.
Is this correct?
