Newsstand, subscription pauses downloading, no background downloading?

Straingt to the point, in newsstand there's nat geo magazine and Times... both which I am subscribed to, the thing is when there's a new issue coming out and I click download, it goes fine.. but when I close the app and go to another apps or leave it alone for a while and the screen goes to black, it pauses the download. Must I "wait" and "watch" the progress bar to complete d/loading every time then close the apps? sometimes the internet speed is kind of slow so the dload process would take about 15-30 minutes... Is this default feature of the Ipad mini? I wonder if there's something about the setting that i'm missing. So everytime downloading a new issue of the magazines... I would have to download it at the newsstand screen, let it finish before doing anything, that's if the pauses don't happen and if it did, I would have to click continue.

My guess is the anti virus software you are using may be the problem. As there are no (that's zero, none, zip, nada) viruses for OS X using anti virus software is a waste of resources and time. I would suggest reading the Macintosh Virus Guide.
You can try downloading and using Little Snitch, this may provide the information you're after.

The very first thing you should have done when you got the new External was to change to Mac compatible to Extended and Journaled then all will be well again. Get out the paperwork that came with the Drive and read it.

After almost a year - duh - I see that v3.6.4 got stuck mid-download; now I can't proceed or get rid of the Software Update 'Paused downloading Firefox 3.6.4' -so how to update now?

I have Firefox 3.6.3 on a mac os x 10.5.8 laptop. Often when I open Firefox there are updates available for plugins & addons and I install them. Now Firefox often crashes while in use and/or I must force quit. I finally went to the Help menu on the Firefox menu bar and saw this message: 'Resume Downloading Firefox 3.6.4...' When I click on the message I get a new 'Software Update' window with this info: 'Paused downloading Firefox 3.6.4' (stuck); a 'Details' link (dead); and 'Connecting to the update server...' (never connects). Sorry, I couldn't figure out what the 'Firefox location bar' was and so can't get report IDs, though a while ago I stopped reporting the problems. I want to update Firefox without losing any of my stored settings/info. PS I just saw my 'installed plugins' list. 'Displays PDF documents in the browser' is listed but doesn't work; 'iPhoto6' listed, but I run iPhoto '08 (7.1.5). I'm not sophisticated enough to recognize the other plug-ins. Thanks!

I don't know if there are better solutions, and I don't know if what I'm going to write is real also in mac OS: in windows and linux you personal settings (bookmarks, history, plugins, etc...) are stored in your home directory and not in firefox installation directory. So what about to uninstall your current version, download the new one from firefox web site and install it? In my opinion all your data remain untouched.
A better solution may be download the new version and install it without removing the previous one, the installer should overwrite outdated files ;)

Subscriptions are handled via the application manager/ CCApp. Sign in on creative.adobe.com, download the app, let it install the product you paid for based on your credentials, i.e. your Adobe ID.

You can't. Kindle is a different ecosystem than iTunes. Generally, you choose your book ecosystem and you stick with it or you have books in both (or in several).
There is a Kindle app for the iPad and iPhone that is just as good (and in my opinion substantially better) than the Apple iBook app.
Most purchased books (but not all) have Digital Rights Management that prevent them from being shared or moved easily. Books purchased on iTunes are meant to be used on your iPad with iBooks. Books purchased on Amazon Kindle are meant to be used on your Kindle apps.

The procedures for restarting Mountain Lions downlown do not seem to apply in my ssituation. Before today's impass I had failed twice to download then was able to start all over again from the beginning. The system knew that I had purchased the program and allowed me to start again. Both times i lost the data (6-8 hrs per attempt) in the downloads. But that's not the problem that I am faced with now. The techniques provided to restare don't work. I can't initiate the program's download through "purchasing". The message "an error has occurred" is persistent. It don't disappear. I reboot, reenter the Apps Store. There it is again. The "pause/download" button is dead, Has anyone had a similar experience? I wish Apple would supply a disk for this program.

Go to Tools --> Options --> Advanced --> Network --> Settings and choose "Do not use Proxy" to see if that helps.

Open the Mac App Store.
From the Store menu, choose Sign In.

HT1725 iTunes do not resume paused downloads

I download free updates but it has large size so i paused it and decided to continue it next morning (which i used to do) but iTunes seems to be changed by now it asks for my password every time i open itunes and free updates did not resumed paused downloads and its now gone. I always do this everytime i paused a download and quit itunes it resumes when i launch itunes but i cant do it now i have to do everything manually :/.

Diagnostics are similar on my sisters computer (different network cards and ip addresses, of course) and I can download on hers fine. For some reason Itunes doesnt like to pick up on what ive purchased through itunes when I move it ot this computer, but Im fine with that because at least i get to listen and watch.

Pausing downloads

is there a way to pause downloads that safari starts so i can resume them later?
ive tried pressing the "x" button, but then i have to start the download all over again, and with large files, its a nusence.

If you are downloading a file, you can click the icon next to the file's name in the Downloads window to pause the download. After you stop downloading a file, you can resume downloading it from where it stopped.
For example, if you stop after downloading 50 MB of a 100 MB file, when you resume downloading the file you have only 50 MB left to download.
Note: Some servers do not support resumable downloads.

The iTunes Steore does not provide any form of statistics or tracking. The only way you can do this is by using statistics from the server, which means you would have to have your media files on a server which can provide this. Apple provide some notes on this:

however you would need actual access to the server to do this.

Hey what are the steps that I need to take to fix why I can't get my subscription to download?
I've verified the payment for my subcrip' and double check settings and verified support of newsstand app
and still not letting me download the mag' what's the deal?

Almost certainly another ios 6 bug, since I have this now, after upgrading, no trouble before. I would happily downgrade to 5, but of course Apple know better than to allow users make their own decisions.

Do the following. I just did it succesfully: keep your finger on the Newsstand until it start wiggling. Then tap the Newsstand to enlarge/open it. And there you see the magazines you selected, all wiggling with a black cross. For each magazine you want to remove click the little black cicle with white x.
I think marketing rules should be more strict: a magazine should be free or paid. But it must be transparent, even if the first edition is free as a tempting marketing trick, it must be clear that only the first edition is free and info must be ginven what the price for updates are.
