Newsstand subscription

In Sprint 20 and a Viewer app set to Multi-issue Viewer with iTunes subscription, Newsstand.
In iTunes Connect it has you either submit issues one by one or create an RSS feed. What functionality does this serve in a DPS viewer? I only submited one issue through the iTunes Connect interface, yet I have three issues published though Adobe distribution. The subscription button works, All the issues are showing, with the most recent cover showing in the Newsstand - which is not the issue entered into iTunes Connect. I'm curious if this is an not being used with DPS?
Part two - When I publish a new issue, will I need to submit the cover art, issue id, description, publish date, etc in Itunes Connect? Or back to first question, where this does not seem to be serving a purpose?
Dave

The RSS feed has no effect on DPS apps at this time. Your app initially displays the Newsstand cover you specify in Viewer Builder. Whenever you publish a new folio, one of the folio's cover preview images replaces your app's Newsstand cover image. None of the Newsstand cover images you specify in iTunes Connect are actually used.

How do I cancel a Newsstand subscription when there is no auto-renew option via Settings/Manage Subscriptions? After removing the item from the Newsstand site it still shows as Active via Settings/Manage Subscriptions. The publisher tells me it is not a subscription rate that is theirs, they have no knowledge of it, I subscribed through iTunes Store. Thank you!

    Hi qwerty,
Dun tink that creative customer support sucks cos I had been dealing with them in the past and I can say that their service are quite gd and fast. If you wanted a refund, I tink you need to contact the store that sells you the product. Dun tink creative will refund you though.

  • Newsstand Subscription - Publisher stop the publication

    Hi there,
Do you know how Apple do or subscriber can do if the publisher stop the publication in Newsstand App and the subscription is still active?
Recently I just got this problem for MacPeople which is published by Japanese publisher.
I opened cases to Apple Support but either they said No Refund due to Apple policy or no response from support...
I just got 2 of 12 issues from the subscription and this really makes me lose the trust in Apple Newsstand ... :-(
    Thanks anyway.
    With Regards

For Newsstand subscriptions, you're bound to Apple's price tiers. In this case, you would create a subscription duration of 1-year that uses Tier 8 ($7.99). That would give users access to all folios published between the start date and end date, plus the most recently published folio. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ppcompdoc/Adobe_Publishing_Companion_Guide_for_iPad.pdf.
You can set your own pricing only in a Newsstand app if you create an app with iTunes subscriptions and direct entitlement. That way, users could purchase a subscription either through iTunes (which uses Apple's pricing tiers) or they could buy access directly through your custom entitlement service. Your entitlement server would have whatever pricing and entitlement options you set up. See Entitlement | Adobe Developer Connection.

  • Newsstand subscriptions don't open when offline

I can view and open newsstand subscriptions when home and at the office (both while connected to wi-fi). Once I turn off wi-fi, or am not at home or the office, the subsriptions fail to open. Hugely frustrating!

Known issue, no fix as yet.

  • Family Sharing for Newsstand Subscriptions

    Hi everyone,
I just upgrade all my iDevices in my family (3 iPhones, 3 iPads) to iOS8. From what I read from Apple's announcement, I should be able to share my Newsstand Subscriptions with family members. However, I really can't figure out how to do it. I have subscribed few magazines and newspaper on iPad. It really bother me so much that I can't share those with my kid. Hopefully "Family Sharing" feature can address this issue.
    Can anyone here help me?

Seems no one help on this topic......

  • Cancelling newsstand subscriptions?

I have recently been mislead by the "free" newsstand subscriptions available and was wondering if there was any way I could unsubscribe? Help!

I am also looking for a way to cancel subscriptions. If Apple is taking a 30% cut from these publishers by allowing purchase subscription through app store they should also make it easy to cancel. Love the concept of newsstand apple is creating, please show us how to cancel in the app store to avoid reoccurring subscriptions for media we don't want. Thanks for looking out for your customers.

  • Newsstand Subscription Pricing - Are you bound by pricing tiers?

    Hi,
I'm new on DPS Enterprise and want to know something about pricing Newsstand subscriptions.
Are you bound to Apple's Price Tiers as you would find when charging for Single-Ed Apps or are you, as the digital publisher, able to set your own prices?
So, for example, if I wanted to offer my quarterly digital publication for, say, $8 for an annual subscription to all the issues, could I do that?

For Newsstand subscriptions, you're bound to Apple's price tiers. In this case, you would create a subscription duration of 1-year that uses Tier 8 ($7.99). That would give users access to all folios published between the start date and end date, plus the most recently published folio. • Newsstand subscription homepage not opening

    Hi,
My subscription to Flying magazine is not opening properly.
I click the current issue from the newsstand and the Flying magazine logo screen appears then the page closes and returns back to the newsstand.
I should be taken to the My Issues page but it is failing lately.
    What is the problem?
    Any suggestions?

    Hello ijayma,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues with your Newsstand subscription. If you haven't already done so, does force closing the Newsstand application help the issue?

  • How can I cancel newsstand subscription

how can I cancel a newsstand subscription; when I went to the store, it said it was free; then I deiscovered I need to pay if I don't delete the auto pay function; it was a mistake to download it; one response was to hold the magazine icon down and delete it...will that canel the subscription? thanks; I tried to go into my account to manage subscriptions but couldn't find it.please help...thanks

Do the following. I just did it succesfully: keep your finger on the Newsstand until it start wiggling. Then tap the Newsstand to enlarge/open it. And there you see the magazines you selected, all wiggling with a black cross. For each magazine you want to remove click the little black cicle with white x.
I think marketing rules should be more strict: a magazine should be free or paid. But it must be transparent, even if the first edition is free as a tempting marketing trick, it must be clear that only the first edition is free and info must be ginven what the price for updates are.

  • Newsstand subscription problems

I have a problem with one of the subscriptions @ newsstand, the store won't connect. The funny thing is that there are no problems with other subscriptions or restoring the older issues of the same magazine bought before the subscription. I am looking for a way to contact apple so they could cancel the purchase 'cause I cannot use the subscription anyway. Anyone's got an e-mail address or something.
And yes, tried to reload and reinstall the app many times.

You can contact the publication for information about your subscription or contact iTunes Store Support Team.

  • How do I transfer newsstand subscriptions to a new Apple ID?

I purchased 2 magazine subscriptions on Newsstand through an Apple ID associated with my old work email. I've since left that job and am trying to load my subscriptions onto my new iPad using my personal Apple ID. I can still login to the account on iTunes, but when I click Manage under Subscriptions I don't see a way to assign them to a new Apple ID. Suggestions?

You cannot transfer purchases to another id.

  • HT201272 Newsstand subscriptions not working

I have purchased a subscription in newsstand from trinity mirror sports media and when i go to download the first magazine / program the app  tells me there is a newer version to be downloaded from the app store
There is no update to be had how do i fix this issue

I guess so. I live in Germany. I had this situation before and when I started Itunes on the new computer and told it to search for downloads it found them all without a problem. Quite opposite it started to annoy me that every time i plugged the Ipad in, Itunes wanted to download the files. And i always had to turn the downloads off manually. You do not realy mean that some movies or tv-series cannot be redownloaded even though i bought them. Is Apple actually takeing into account that a high percentage of there customers (from my experienece as network admin I would bet more than 50%) are loosing theire belonginigs someday, so that they will have to repurchase them. I have (had) a few hundered gigabytes of purchases and I am not going to buy a completely unessesary backup media and waste time doing backups of files that could easly be redownloaded, only because Apple is tricking me into paying twice. What good reason could there be for this except ripping the customers off!
Please tell me that this is not so - otherwise i will have to warn all my friends and advide them better to buy videos and series some other place. Do people in the States not "go on the streets" if a company behaves like that? In Europe you will defenetly loose your customers of you give them the feeling you want to rip them off!
No the Movies are not shown. I almost always buy videos in Itunes on my PC (to big for Ipad) ! And since my Internetconnection is realy slow I only download what want to watch in the next days. So if i bought a whole season or even multiple seasons of a serie it might be that i have never ever downloaded them bevore! And it takes some time to watch alls seasons of Lost for example.

  • Newsstand Subscriptions across Multiple iDevices???

    Hi Folks,
I was delighted to find that when I checked the Newsstand App to see what was on offer my beloved Guitar World was sitting there waiting for me to sign up and at €12.99 for a year it couldn't have been better so as I sat watching the latest episode of Terra Nova I subscribed to the 12 month option for Guitar World on my iPhone. As it downloaded I picked up my iPad to check something else and was also delighted to see that the cover had already populated on my iPads Newsstand App. "Happy Days" I said to myself.
Once the latest issue had downloaded and Terra Nova came to its first break I opened the Magazine on my iPad only to find that it wants me to subscribe to the 12 month subscription again dispite my having already subscribed on my iPhone.
"This isn't right" I said to myself. Surely the good guys at apple have set this up in such a way that I can read my magazines on any of my devices. However, anywhere i've looked on the web I simply can't find a reference to this at all. Either Magazine Subscriptions through Newsstand don't share across all my devices or they do and there is something wrong.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what the situation is here as I feel there is absolutely no need in my subscription being on the iPhone only. I bought my iPad for this singular reason.
If anyone could help I would be over the moon.
    Cheers,
    TQ

One further update for you all folks. When I first had this issue I mailed Future (Magazie Publishers) regarding the issues I was having and they got back to me this morning. This is their response :
    Hi there,
Thank you for your email. We've had quite a few questions about the way issues work, so you're not alone. To be clear:
    1) If you have purchased single issues of a magazine, you can read these on any devices that you own. To redownload them, press the Buy button and enter your iTunes password. iTunes will report back that the issue has been purchased already, and will make the download free. Please ensure that you use the same iTunes account on both devices.
    2) If you have purchased a subscription to a magazine, you can read the magazines included with that subscription on any devices that you own. To transfer your subscription, go to the Help screen and look for the Restore Purchases button. On the iPhone, this is under the "More" button. If you have not bought any single issues on top of your subscription, you may receive the message "There are no purchases to restore".
    3) If you have subscribed to a magazine and for some reason the latest issue did not become available to you, please try using the Restore Purchases button.
    4) If you downloaded an issue and it is no longer there, this usually happens because you did an upgrade/restore of your device and the issues were removed by iTunes, or because your device was running low on space and removed the issues. In both cases, you can follow the instructions above to redownload your issues.
On some iOS versions, you may need to relaunch the app for both of the above solutions to work.
If this does not solve your problem, please get in touch again.

Clicking buy in the app sorted it for me.
Still though its a bit crap that it doesn't automatically sync.
