How can I get digital subscriptions to be placed into my newsstand application on my New iPad? For example, I have a paper subscription of MacLife that I would like to have appear in my newsstand on my iPad...

It's not a matter of importing or allowing - it's up to MacLife to redesign the app so that it appears in Newstand. You have no choice about it - the developers decide if they want their app in Newstand or not, and if they update the app to have Newstand capability it will automatically move to the Newstand when you update the app.

Newstand in the Enterprise

We're testing iPads in my company. We'd like to "push" some documents on our employee's iPad. Is there a solution for pushing a document in Newstand ?
The document is purely internal. We don't want to get the doc available in "Newstand Store" for everybody.

Newstand is meant for published periodicals - it's not a storage place for documents, but a folder for a specific type of application (newspapers and magazines with recurring subscriptions) written for the Newstand on the iPad (many periodicals have chosen not to use it).
I think there are other ways to get docs onto an employee's iPad - posting them on a website to download, emailing them to the device and then opening in another application for editing, etc. Part of this depends on what kind of document you are talking about.
If you want to truly "push" it, as long as you keep the iPad tied to a company iTunes account and not an individual user's personal account, you could sync it to the document if it's in the same WiFi network as the host computer.

Older magazine downloads disappear from 'Newstand'..

I am very sorry if this is the wrong area to post this question but I looked for a long time without being able to find an appropriate place to star this discussion. I am a current subscriber to Thrasher Skateboarding magazine, and WIRED magazine.. and I like the concept of Newstand.. however whenever I download the new issue of a magzine it appears in 'Newstand' in replacement of the prebious issues or any magazines I have. So I never have any more then 1 magazine on the shelf at a time. For insstane I downloaded the October issue of WIRED... and it appeared in Newstand, and then when the November issue came out and I downloaded it.. the October issue disappeared and the new issue was the only one there. None of my other magazine downloads are in it either. Leaving me with only one magazine in Newstand at any given time.
Can anyone explain why this is to me and how I fix it so all magazines (from subscribtion and one of purposes as well) appear in Newstand?

Hi there. Each of the magazines in Newsstand are actually individual apps in their own right. Newsstand is just a 'shelf' where these apps sit, instead of being on your desktop (like other non-magazine apps). Therefore, there's no way to set how the magazines behave collectively. Instead, each magazine is configured inside each app. For example, I have the Guardian Newspaoer app within Newsstand - in order to set how it shows previous editions, I have to go into the app via Newsstand, then go to settings within the app itself and set it to 'forget editions older than 1 week.' There is only ever one Guardian app in Newsstand and I access the various editions that I've downloaded within the Guardian App. Your magazines should work in the same way. Hope this helps.

I have now followed multiple instructions from this and other forums. have turned push notifications off. Turned them on. Have updated to IOS 6. Have signed out and signed back in, have uninstalled all magazines and reinstalled. Have synced, and updated everything in iTunes.
Nothing works,. Also cannot use youtube.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
It might also be a good idea to contact Square for assistance.

I've done it on both my iPad and my Touch. what I do is put 3 icons next to each other. newsstand and two others. use the other two to make the folder, then grab the newsstand the second the folder is made.
Newsstand is totally nonfunctional when it's in the folder and it will crash your ipad (as in try to open it and it goes back to the home screen). ALso, it seems when you do any upgrades, Apple 'kindly' puts newsstand back outside the folder.

I have bought only one brochure of a magazine called SuperInteressante on the itunes newstand. It costed £1,99. However, the payment was set automatically for every new edition published and so I have been charged 1.99 since then. I sent an email for the Magazine but had no replies.I have tried deleting the app but id didn't work as the payment continue to be taken. Cant find a way of canceling it. Is there a way to get Newstand to show up on my desktop or laptop screens?

I am starting to use Newstand and I think it is a great service, but is it possible to get the magazines to show on the larger screens of the desktop or laptop computers in addition to the IOS5 devices?

Apps and books sync across devices fine but not anything in the newsstand. I always thought it should but not the way it works for me. In the same session I can buy a book and magazine. Book shows up on both devices but magazine only on the device purchased. I do software testing for a living. I've run all the scenarios and everything syncs fine except magazines. Fortunately I don't see what use for the against because I can get paper at 1/2 the cost, but it seems like a nice idea, it just doesn't work consistently.
iCloud is definitely still having issues. While I only use for syncing, photo stream regularly disappears from my iPad every cople days for an hour or two and then comes back. It's never disappeared from my iPhone.

the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

Log in error in the newstand

Hi When i try to login to a magazine from the newstand all i get is "login error You have reached the maximum device limit for your account. Please contact technical support" i contacted the app developer and they told me to contact itunes has any one encountered this error before ?

The checkdiscoverer.sh or .bat script is on the middle-tier in:
$ORACLE_HOME/discoverer/util directory. This script just does a basic check to make sure your Discoverer Server components are running.
I suspect you're Discoverer Viewer session is timing out. Viewer uses the OC4J timeout and the default is 20 minutes I believe.
Not sure of your versions or if the 20 minute scenario fits your situation.

Can't move Photos out of Newstand - please help!

My 2-year old dragged Photos icon into Newstand. I finally found it there, with a sigh of relieve; however, now I can't for the life of me drag it anywhere at all, be it home pages or the taskbar on the bottom. What am I to do? Thanks.

Frankly, I don't even know if that would work. It is the only way that I can think of to try without restoring the iPad to factory settings.
As you now know, the Newsstand folder was not meant to be used for apps other than those that are designed to work with Newsstand. Getting the photos app out of there should be problematic because it is not meant to be placed into it.
Now having said all that stuff that you already know anyway - Have you tried creating another folder right next to Newsstand and then open Newsstand and try as fast as you can to move the photos app into that new folder?

It's not possible to delete it. Try resetting the home page layout. It has to have been moved to another page or a folder... oh, wait. you can't reset the home page layout without getting to it.
Go to the search page (press the home button once when on the first screen or swipe right from the home screen and type settings. Provided you have not turned off application search results in spotlight settings, you should be able to get to it from there.

I accidentally put calculator into newstand how can I remove it?
