Next Button Wont Display

I am creating a new learning module in Captivate using an existing template. On the last module everything worked well but on the new module using the same template I can not get the Next buttons to display or work when the file is preveiwed or published.
The next buttons will work in the development mode using the timeline at the bottom of the screen. All of the settings are the same as the previous module I just adjusted some of the content.

Hi there
See if the thread linked below helps.

  • Forced Navigation - Want the next button to display after user clicks on all buttons.

    Hi. I'm new to using Captivate to make a learning module. I'm stuck on this forced navigation issue. I created 8 click boxes that the users have to click on. I created 9 advanced actions. Each AA for the click boxes hides text boxes that don't pertain to it, shows a text box, plays audio, and assigns a number 1 to a variable I created. There are 8 variables. I then created an conditional AA that displays the next button once all 8 variables have the number 1 assigned to it.
    For some reason, the next button doesn't display even though I'm sure each variable has the number 1 assigned to it. Also, I want the entire audio to play for the click box before the person can click on the next click box. Right now, I can click on a click box and then another click box right afterwards and the audio stops and the next audio starts. Can you all please help?
    I am using Captivate 6.0.0.199.  My computer is running Windows 7.  I want the output to be SWF.  Thank you in advance for your help!

    First of all, install the patch, you are still on the unpatched version that had a lot of bugs. Almost one year ago a fix was released, your version should be 6.0.1.240. Use Help, Updates.
    The difficult part will be the audio, the other part should be very easy, have explained that a lot of times. You could disable all click boxes, but then you need a new event to trigger the 'enable' action. Is it that important? Are those users not wise enough to listen to the audio, or is that audio not interesting enough? Why not instruct them about listening?
    I suppose you use the Play Audio statement, and indeed, when you trigger another audio clip the previous one will be stopping. You could attach the audio to an 'invisible' object, and make that visible which will play the audio. But that will cause another issue if the user clicks too quickly on a second click box: both audio will play at the same time.

  • Report wrapped in Portlet: Crashes on Next Button

    I have a application report based on a query that I published in a portal. When I run this report in the application creation page the report runs fine, even if I run it as a portlet. When I add the portlet to a page and navigate to the page it runs fine however when I press the 'Next' button to display the next set of records I am presented with the following error: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 1024

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Ryan,
    Not sure about the actual reason or remedy for this but I was able to rectify this by running the "owaload.sql". If the "Portal" installation is for the first time in the machine then you need to run this script.
    NOTE: If you run "Owaload.sql" then a lot of objects will become "Invalid" in your schema (e.g. in portal30, portal30_sso).
    You will have to compile them.
    But before trying this pls check the following:
    a) Are there any "Invalid" objects in your installation.
    b) Are you using the correct "Modplsql" and apache versions.
    c) Apploader, Chartservlet & Parallel files are at proper place (apache_home/Jserv/servlets)
    Thanx,
    Chetan.

    http://apexjscss.blogspot.com

    I created a new button at the bottom of the region in a Hide and Show Region called [Next >]. The button is displayed to the right of the region.I only see it displayed to the right of the region in Firefox (Safari and IE8 showed it above the sub-regions). Not obvious to me why this is the case (it's usually IE that does it's own thing).
    I want it displayed at the right end of the bottom of the region.Button position Bottom of Region causes an anonymous HTML table containing the button(s) to be generated after the <tt>#BODY#</tt> placeholder in the region template. Your Hide/Show region template didn't have a <tt>#SUB_REGIONS#</tt> placeholder so by default the sub-regions were rendered after the <tt>#BODY#</tt> and the "Bottom of Region" button container (don't know if this is the intended behaviour or a bug). Adding <tt>#SUB_REGIONS#</tt> before <tt>#BODY#</tt> in the template gets things in the right order (button after sub-regions):
    <div class="hide-show-region" id="#REGION_STATIC_ID#" #REGION_ATTRIBUTES#>
      <div class="hide-show-top">
        <div class="hide-show-title">
    <div class="rounded-corner-region">
    <div class="rc-blue-top">
    <div class="rc-blue-top-r">
              #TITLE#</div>
    </div>
    </div>
           <a style="margin-left:5px;" href="javascript:hideShow('region#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#','shIMG#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#','#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/rollup_plus_dgray.gif','#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/rollup_minus_dgray.gif');" class="t1HideandShowRegionLink"><img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_2/rollup_plus_dgray.gif"
      id="shIMG#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#" alt="" />Click on arrow to enter/hide  information for signs and/or nameplates</a></div>
        <div class="hide-show-buttons">#CLOSE##PREVIOUS##NEXT##DELETE##EDIT##CHANGE##CREATE##CREATE2##EXPAND##COPY##HELP#</div>
      </div>
      <div class="hide" id="region#REGION_SEQUENCE_ID#">
        #SUB_REGIONS#
        #BODY#
      </div>
    </div>Firefox is still showing the button to the right of the sub-regions. I'm assuming that this has something to do with everything in this theme being floated left (for reasons that escape me), so we'll try to clear the button container using CSS. The table doesn't have an ID or class so try an adjacent sibling selector using the ID of the preceding sub-region:
    #nameplates-name+table {
      clear: both;
    }Finally, the button alignment was set to "Left", so I changed it to "Right".
    Seems to be working in IE8 (all I have access to at present).

  • How do I make a learner attempt a question, without having the option of a 'Next' button?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to display the feedback option (learner selected) from a multiple choice Question by clicking the next (or previous) page button?
    I have set the progress to the next page, with the option 'Attempts - 1' from the Assessment page. The objective of this exercise was to make the learner attempt the given multiple choice question, without the option of going back or forward during their first attempt. The first time the learner comes across this page, he/she has to answer the question to move forward. Once he/she has answered the question (right or wrong), then he/she will be able to navigate to the next and previous pages.
    Is there any functionality where we can restrict the learner in taking up the test (compulsory), before navigating to the next page (using 'Next' button)?
    Thank you,
    Emayavaramban M E

    Don't show the Next button, but drag it under the Clear button if you have that one. Next button is really meant to skip an answer (which you do not want to allow) and during Review to make navigation possible. Since the Clear button will not be there during Review, then the Next button will become visible. Next is the new label (formerly it was labeled Skip). I explained some functionality of question slides in this post:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/question-question-slides-in-captivate
    It was written in the CP5.5 time, so you'll still see the label 'Skip' that is now replaced by 'Next'

  • My Next button is not working. Please Help!

    Hello, everyone.
    Thank you very much for stopping by my question.
    I'm trying to make this work all day today. I'm out of idea...
    SortedMap m = new TreeMap()is used to sort the collection.
    I want to show next record(name and payrate) in the collection if there's any. Every time I try the code, I get 'Class Cast Exception'
    What am I doing wrong? The following is the code.
    <CODE>
    // Next button
    if (e.getSource().equals(nextBtn))
    // Show an error message if the collection is empty.
    if (m.isEmpty())
    msg.setText("No Record is in the Collection");
    //Instantiate an Inerator on the collection's key set and use it to
    // display next record.
    Iterator pointer = m.keySet().iterator();
    if (pointer.hasNext())
    msg.setText("The records: "+ (String)m.get(pointer.next()));
    // Show a message if there is no more record available in the collection.
    else {
    msg.setText("No More Record");
    </CODE>
    Please give me suggestion/advice.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi, Radish21.
    I think I'm not adding payRate into the collection succesfully.
    I changed the code as below:
    Iterator pointer = m.keySet().iterator();
    if (pointer.hasNext()){
      Object key = pointer.next(); // get the next key.
      Object value = m.values(); // get the value for that key.
      msg.setText(key +"," +value);
    }I got the following message in message area:
    Eric,[project06.App$Employee[Eric,0,0,0x0,invalid,layout=java.awt.FlowLayout], project06.App$Employee[Maya,0,0,0x0,invalid,layout=java.awt.FlowLayout], project06.App$Employee[Naoyo,0,0,0x0,invalid,layout=java.awt.FlowLayout]]
    I see the names I added, but don't see the payrate there.
    The following is the code to add the name/payrate into the collection:
    m.put(nameField.getText(),  new Employee (nameField.getText(), Double.parseDouble(payRateField.getText())));Isn't this adding payRate?
    I'm sorry to ask you so many questions.
    I do really appreciate your time and consideration.
    Thank you

  • How can I grey out the 'Next' button until a user clicks 'Submit'?

    Hi guys,
    despite how I say it or display it in slides, users don't read the instructions before the quiz. This results in them doing the quiz and then asking me why they scored zero when they answered all the questions. So my question is, how can I disable/deactivate/grey-out the Next button until a user clicks Submit after answering the question?
    I've got Captivate 6.1 on a Windows platform.
    Advice appreciated.
    Carl

    Hello Rod,
    thanks for your answer - I should think more laterally in future.
    In my testing, another question has arisen - how do I get the Next button behind the Clear button? It sounds stupid but I can't get the Next button behind the Clear. I go in to the Master Slide, click on Next to highlight it, and then move it either by the mouse or with the arrow button so that it sits under the Clear button. While Next is still highlighted I click on the button in the toolbar 'Send selected objects backward' to be sure, so that I see 'Clear'. When I go back to the Filmstrip, all I see is 'Next' and when I preview the slides all I see is 'Next' - what am I missing here? What have I failed to do? What am I not understanding?
    Advice appreciated.
    Thanks

  • To disable the horizontal scrollbar and to create a next button to navigate

    To disable the horizontal scrollbar and to create a next button to navigate through the records. At present I create a JSF page and drag and drop my table view and then using the Tuning property I have limited the number of records to be shown. But I need to add a button and then code it to display the next few records. Can someone kindly suggest a suitable mechanism to get this accomplished.
    Edited by: 888970 on Oct 2, 2011 10:15 PM

    Hi Erp,
    At present these are the entries that I have in my JSPX page.
    I have a Table, Iterator and a Input List of Values. As per the scenario, I want a few rows to appear on the table for which I wanted to disable the horizontal scroll bar and then once I click on the list of values it must prompt me with the remaining page numbers.
    Earlier there are about 150 records in the table. I want to show them as 15 per page.
    For which I have added the Iterator and a LOV component code in my JSPX page.
    <af:iterator id="i1"
    value="#{bindings.NsEventDetailsView1.collectionModel}"
    var="row"
    binding="#{pageFlowScope.testPageBean.myIterator}"/>
    <af:inputListOfValues label="Label 1"
    popupTitle="Search and Result Dialog" id="ilov1"/>
    Then I created the bean class as per the example.
    Below is the bean class:
    import javax.faces.event.ValueChangeEvent;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.context.AdfFacesContext;
    import org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.component.UIXIterator;
    import org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.event.AttributeChangeEvent;
    public class TestPagebean {
    public TestPagebean() {
    public void i1ov1_valueChangeListener(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    // Add event code here...
    private UIXIterator myiter;
    public void setI1(UIXIterator myiter) {
    this.myiter=myiter;
    public UIXIterator getmyiter() {
    this.myiter=myiter;
    public UIXIterator setmyiter() {
    return myiter;
    UIXIterator valueIterator = getmyiter();
    if (!valueChangeEvent.getNewValue().equals(valueChangeEvent.getOldValue())) {
    int newPage =
    Integer.parseInt(valueChangeEvent.getNewValue().toString());
    int pageStart = (newPage) * valueIterator.getRows();
    valueIterator.setFirst(pageStart);
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(valueIterator);
    But i am getting errors in the bean class.
    1. Block expecting }
    2. public UIXIterator getmyiter() {
    this.myiter=myiter;
    Return Statement missing
    3. Block expecting {
    4. Type or variable 'valueChangeEvent' not found
    5. Method 'getNewValue' not found
    6. Method 'getOldValue' not found
    7. Method 'toString' not found
    Can you suggest a possible solution?

  • NEXT button on report portlet shows 10 rows-maximum rows per page=9999

    I created a report with the DB Provider portlet. I set the maximum rows per page to 9999 when displayed as a portlet and as a full page. I put the portlet on a page and it only shows 10 rows and then the next button.
    If there are exactly 10 rows I get the next button. If I click it the next page loads with no data. If there are less than 10 rows there is no button.
    If I create a new portlet it does not do this. I'm only having the problem with one portlet now but I've seen it in the past. I usually just build the portlet again but I would like to know how to fix it.
    I can't customize the portlet because of bug #3467032.

    Select customize and set the number of rows to 9999. I'm guessing that it's currently set to 10.

  • Lightbox Gallery, moving prev/next buttons to outside of the gallery box

    Hello,
    I want to change the look of the "prev" and "next" buttons to simple arrows and move them outside of the big image that opens up when you click on the thumbnail, so that no part of the big image is covered by these buttons.  Creating the arrow images are easy, but I've still got a lot to learn when it come to dealing with scripts.
    Which part of the script do I need to change to move the location of where there buttons show up?

    Julie726 wrote:
    Actually, I'm still having a problem getting those buttons to display before I worry about moving their positions.
    They have been uploaded to the correct locations.  I can't figure out why they don't display.
    They don't display because the link to those buttons points to an "images" folder (lowercase I) but they're stored on the server in "Images" folder (capital I).
    http://www.julieappelt.com/images/lightbox/lightbox-btn-close.gif does not work
    http://www.julieappelt.com/Images/lightbox/lightbox-btn-close.gif works
    It's usually best to avoid mixing cases when naming folders and files to avoid these issues, esp on Linux servers. Stick to all lowercase.

    however when I try to navigate to next page by click "Next" arrow button on the crystal report viewer toolbar, it only can navigate to the page 2, whatever I click the "Next" button, it still stay on page 2,
    actually this report has 10 pages.
    On the other hand, if I input the page number, such as 5 on the "goto" textbox, it will jump to page 5 correctly.
    Could you give me any good advices to solve this problem?
    Thanks.

    p.s. the buttons wont even glow when on plz help

    Are you sure it's turning on? If the display isn't turning on and the buttons don't light up, it sounds like the player isn't powering on at all. Do you hear it playing music?
    Have you tried leaving the player charging for a few hours, and then checking if it starts up on the PC? When it's turned on, does the system recognise it at all, does it see an unknown device for instance?

  • Using Next Button To Go From Track To Track?

    I'm working on a concert DVD. The show has two sets. The content was edited elsewhere and I'm doing the authoring only. They send the first and second sets as two separate files MPEG files (with matching audio). No biggie for my authoring accept this...
    If a user is using the next and back buttons to go from song to song, how can I make the next button go to the first marker of the next track from the last marker of the last track? In other words, how can one navigate from the last song of set 1 to the first song of set 2 with the next button considering they're on separate tracks? Right now it simply doesn't do anything when pressing next during the final song of the first set.
    I normally put both sets into one file but I'm stuck with two files here.

    I've found the marker in the advanced connection tab but not sure how to direct it.
    Its not the Marker you need to Direct its the Track. If you select Track 1 in Graphical View or the Outline Tab. Then go to the Connections Tab>Advanced View. You can set the Next Jump option for the Track. Then you can set the Prev Jump option for Track 2 by selecting it and heading back to the Connections tab.
    Look-up sequential-PGCs (PGC = Program Chain) and Multi-PGCs. You may need to google as its spec stuff and you wont find that level of info in the dvdsp manual probably. You might want to search the discussions too... not sure it's come up before.

  • Webhelp: how to add a Previous and Next button

    I'm using Robohelp 8 and generating Webhelp on a Windows XP machine. The output displays on IE by default.
    My problem is simple: In my Webhelp output, I want a Previous and Next button to appear at the top of each topic. That's all. But I don't see how to set this.
    I don't want to create browse sequences; if select topic B, and I've already opened topic D and Z, I should be able to click the Previous button to go from topic D -> topic B, or the Next button to go from topic Z to topic B.
    Also, how do I open my Webhelp output so that the TOC is open (i.e., all topics are displayed so you don't have to click books to open. Thanks for any help.
    Len

    Hi!
    I found this topic as a search I did for also including Back and Forward buttons into a pop-up help page and have found it very helpful and useful, thanks.
    I am currently using RH 10, do you know of anything withine RH 10 that can be used to do this for us?
    I was also wondering if you might be able to help with a further query I have regarding these buttons:
    Currently, when a user clicks the help button within the web based software, the topic associated to that page will be displayed in a pop-up screen. The Help Menu is not displayed and there is no URL field displayed with a Back and Forward button. If the user clicks a link from this help page to another help page, there is no way of getting them back to the previous page without closing the page and then clicking the help button again.
    The requirement is to have Back and Forward buttons added to the help pages that remembers the history of where the user has been rather than moving them up and down the contents. (This part of the requirement I have now fixed with the help of your response to this initial query.) -  The buttons need to be hidden or inactive if there is no history associated, then becoming active or seen if the user has clicked a link. See the following:
    Click a help button on a required software page – help detects that there is no history and therefore the Back and Forward buttons are not required and are not displayed/enabled (not active).
    IF the user clicks a link on the displayed help, then on the new page of help the Back button will display/enable but not the Forward button as there is no more help been opened from this page (yet).
    If the user then clicks the Back button, the user is taken back to the previous page that was displayed. However, it notices that there is no more history beyond this page and the Back button either disappears or disables (becomes inactive).
    IF the user clicks another link from the second page, this would be the third page of help displayed. The Back button would be displayed/enabled but the Forward button would not be displayed or set as inactive.
    IF the user clicks the Back button from the third page, page 2 would have both Back and Forward buttons active/displayed.
    This would continue with each link to new pages, i.e. the history would recognise the first opened page of help and recognise that there is not anything in front of the new page that has been opened.
    This logic should also work if the user has opened the full help, selected a topic from the menu and then clicked a link from that opened page. The Back button would be displayed/enabled so that the user would be able to go back to the previous page they were on. Same with the Forward button.
    I hope this all makes sense. I wonder if you might be able to point me in the right direction or if this is something that I should talk to our web developer about?
    Many thanks,
    Nicola
