Next iPhone suggestion: Wireless credit card microchip

My suggestion is that if a new iPhone is released in 2009 or 2010, it should include a wireless credit card microchip that allows people to use their iPhone as a credit card, and it could support Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diner's Club etc. People would be able to purchase items without needing a credit card because they could use their iPhone instead.
It could work by the person entering their debit card/credit card number into the iPhone and it is saved into the microchip inside the iPhone, then when a person goes into a store to buy, for example, a television, they tell the shop owner they want to pay using their iPhone and the shop owner pushes the "iPhone payment" button on the credit card terminal and enters the cost of the television, then the person opens the "credit card payment software" on their iPhone(password protected for security purposes) and chooses to use Visa or Mastercard or another, then places their iPhone onto the credit card terminal's platform, and using radio waves the terminal platform reads the credit/debit card information from the iPhone, then the customer types in their PIN number using their cellphone's keypad, and the transaction is complete.
So this means people won't need to carry their credit/debit cards with them anymore, because all they would need is their iPhone.
Apple would need to work with credit/debit card providers like Visa, Mastercard, etc, to release a new credit card terminal that supports the iPhone.
It could work in all countries, not just the usa. And there could be no minimum age limit to use the service, so if a 5 year old wants to use it, they should be allowed.

No, but I would consider using a connection other than cellular to process credit cards, for a number of reasons.
Using a non-encrypted cellular link to process credit cards is just a really dumb idea. I certainly would not be handing you my credit card to do so on a show floor. Think about it: what is transmitted?
• the full 15 or 16 digit card number
• the 4 character card expiration date
• the 3 or 4 character CVV2 code
• a street address numeric value
• the ZIP code associated with that address
That's all anyone needs to process legitimate looking but clearly fraudulent transactions. In addition, you cannot use your iPhone, smartphone or mobile handset for voice calls while doing so.
Using an IP link, preferably a hard-wired one, may entail modifying your current processing relationship with your clearing operation and with your bank. If you are clearing presently using an IP interconnection, you are likely doing so while running an application on your computer, not using a standard terminal.
The simplest way to process credit cards is with a plain old telephone line and a simple swipe terminal, such as a TRANZ 330 or similar dial-up device, either a spare you have on hand and already programmed, or an additional one you can obtain from your merchant bank. If you have a dial tone, you can process cards rapidly in this manner. While it can be a shared line, you will need to maintain control over its use to insure that the line is free when you want to process cards.

How can two people use both of their shared credit cards on each of their two iPhones if the credit card numbers are the same but the names are different? The iPhone won't accept the second card because it says that it's already been loaded.

Only one credit card can be on an iTunes account at any one time - presumably if they are shared credit cards with the same card number then it's the same credit card account with the one bill, so from a billing/payment point of view does it make any difference which card is on the account(s) ?

Hi all,
My wife and I have each 1 iphone. Since my wife got her iphone is hard to get phones sincronized separetly
We both share same credit card. Do you think this could be the problem? Or each time we need to shync or update the phone has to be manual? even to download an app directly on the phone, passwords do not work.
Have you experienced the same and able to solve???

we have 2 iphone 4's and 1 ipod touch 4g all on the same itunes with the same credit card. we just sync manually, it's no big deal. it doesn't even seem like we are syncing manually: i have stuff on my phone, if i want to put more i plug it in, check the stuff i want to add and sync. other 2 users do the same.

First, please be aware that everyone here is just a fellow user. You are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums..
Anyway, go to the Purchase History and review your purchases to make sure that you should indeed have the balance left you think you should. iTunes doesn't always refresh the balance it shows, if you are referring to a credit balance in the iTunes Store, so it's possible you spent the money and it just wasn't being reflected in the display. This display error can usually be corrected by logging out of the iTunes Store and then back in.
If after viewing the Purchase History you confirm that you should have more balance left, send a message to the iTunes Store customer service department through the contact form you'll find by selecting the most applicable section of their Support page (select the Contact Support link and follow the instructions) and explain the problem to them.

Apps updates after country and credit card change

This is my situation.
1. I had an apple ID with country set to Italy and a given (italian address) credit card (let's call it IT_Apple_ID). I bought a certain number of apps. I believe they were roughly 60, but I am not sure.
2. I wanted to redeem a gift voucher bought in the US. I set in my existing account the payment method to none, the voucher code in the voucher code field, and in the address textbox the US address where I used to live (US_Apple_ID).
3. I bought some apps while using the US_Apple_ID. Now the total number of apps in iTunes is 66.
The problem is the following:
From that moment on, all the updates available to download in iTunes and the number of updates suggested in iTunes (Apps, left menu) and the ones suggested in my iPhone (notifications in App Store) were no longer syncronized.
For instance: my phone suggests 12 updates available. I open iTunes -> apps, I can see there are 12 updates available in the left hand side menu, but when I try to download those updates (bottom-righ button "12 Updates Available -> ") I get a "No updates available" message.
After some Google searches I now know that I should have created a new apple ID whit the US address and payment set to none. That was the right way to proceed. I also guess that the updates that iTunes and iPhone are suggesting and that I cannot download are updates that exist in the IT_Apple_ID, but being logged in with the new US_Apple_ID the download is not allowed. (I also wonder why the **** I cannot, but that's another issue...)
To try to fix the problem I created a new apple ID with US address, none as payment method and my voucher code.
I re-set my old existing apple ID to the initial credit card number, address and so on.
I deleted the apps bought while I was using the US_Apple_ID, download them again with the IT_Apple_ID.
Now I have the exact same problem! I can see IT_Apple_ID + US_Apple_ID update availability, but I can only download the updates for the IT_Apple_ID apps! I know that the US_Apple_ID apps have updates available, but can't do anything.
This thing is driving me crazy. Any suggestion?

If you use a credit card with a wrong CSC/ CVV code on Apple Online Store. I got an email the next day saying the credit card authorization is denied.
Make sense. I ignored the order and didn't cancel it.
A few days later, I got a shipment note, and the thing is on its way to my home.
I had no idea what happened. Apple CS told me I'd need to pay 15% restocking fee if I return it for whatever reason. But they didn't explain why on earth they debit my card after telling me it's denied, and I gave the wrong security info.
I complained to my credit card issuing bank, and they suggested me to dispute.
Guys, beware of your credit cards being stolen this way.

You will not be able to use that credit card, because it is not your credit card. In order to purchase using a credit card, you must have a credit card that is in *YOUR* name and matches your identification card. A picture ID will be required, and the name and information on the credit card must match that on your photo ID.
