Next Model of T series
Hi all,
Does anyone hear some infomation about a new model of T series. There is a sale off, discount 15% with T400 series. Maybe we will see next generation of T series.
I'm want to buy a new T400 laptop now, but i also want to wait a new model with more feature?
How about you, guys?

Thanks. If i customize my laptop with 4GB RAM or higher, a 64 bits OS will be installed, right?
Not unless you choose a 64 bit OS when you order the laptop.
It will, however, give you the following warning message when you pick more than 3GB of memory whether you've chosen a 64 bit OS or not:
Please note, a 64bit operating system is required to realize the full benefit of more than 3GB of installed memory.

Upgradable GPU ? Graphics cards for next models?
Hi there!
I'm thinking about buying a Sattelite M40 which fits precisely with my budget. The only problem is the X300 128MB graphics card which is actually the slowest in ATI's X series. Is there any possibility or option of a graphic card upgrade either through the company or with the help of an authorized service provider? I know that there's the X600 in some models which would be a good change from the X300. Will the X300 and X600 be available/upgradable so that they can be changed ? (I know this sounds a bit crazy but some other notebook producers are already doing something similar. But I don't want to buy other notebook...)
My second question is about the matter of GPUs in Toshiba's next models that are coming out in the following months. Does anybody know if Toshiba will keep the X300 on their models or if they will use a stronger card like the X600, X700 or even X800 ? I would prefer to wait a month or so than buy something that I will regret buying after a few months.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Antonakis
[Edited by: admin on 30-Jun-05 07:22]Ah such a pity. I'm no expert on mobile computers but I heard somewhere that some boards actually use something like a microAGP (or something like this). I was hoping that maybe there'd be a similar microPCI-express technology that made possible a GPU upgrade.
I was wondering if it'd be possible to connect a stronger graphic card externally through a expansion slot or maybe docking station but maybe I'm going too far.
I think I will buy it anyway since I think it's the best sollution for my money and I've heard only praises for Toshiba's laptops and especially for the Satellite family.
Ah and thanks for the quick reply!! :)

I propose to the designer of w-series that the next generation of W series notebook should have a screen extending to 17.3 inches to suit for more sophisticated graphic software and media software.
SSDee wrote:
As a software developer, I can't imagine working off a single screen no matter how large.
To each their own, but for Lenovo to build a huge beast, like they have in the past, there has to be a big enough market.
Sometimes, for example when you are travelling, you do not have the luxury of being able to work with multiple screens.
Instead of building a "huge beast", with the advance of technology it should be possible to build a fairly slim 17-inch laptop weighing no more than the current W520.
Eventually - there could be a 17-inch "Ultrabook".

Can I set up a hyperlink to the next page of a series?
Hello,
Here's a question for the braintrust here......
I was trying to build a gallery of images that I can change
over and over. I wanted to know if it was possible to set up a
generic hyperlink in a template file that, when clicked, simply
goes to the next page found within a given directory (the directory
would contain pages with file names like 01.htm, 02.htm, etc). I
wanted to set up the link in a template file so that it just reads
"next." This way, the template file would contain generic
navigation, but when you click on the "next" link within a page, it
would understand what page you are on (say page 07.htm) and would
then go to the next page in the directory (say page 08.htm or
12.htm, whichever is next in numerical / alphabetical order). Is
this possible, and am I making sense?
Thanks for any help you all can offer, and I am more than
willing to explain more if need be.
JakeGot the script finished. You need to ensure that each page
uses a three
digit page number like this 002.htm, and it would pay to
create a page at
000.htm and one that is one higher than the highest page with
an image.
<script language="JavaScript">
//shows your URL
var str = document.URL; //reads in the full url
var n = 7;
var q = 3;
var iLen = String(str).length;
var ThisURL = String(str).substring(iLen, iLen - n);
var ThisPage = String(ThisURL).substring(0,q);
var ThisNumber = ThisPage - 0; //This will case the string
as a number
document.write("<br>" + ThisPage);
document.write("<p>");
var PrevPage = ThisNumber - 1;
var NextPage = ThisNumber + 1;
// Now we need to change the numbers to include the leading
Zeros
if (PrevPage < 100) {
if (PrevPage < 10) {
var PrevPageDigit = "00";
}else{
var PrevPageDigit = "0";
document.write("<a href = '" + PrevPageDigit + PrevPage +
".htm'>Previous</a>");
}else{
document.write("<a href = '" + PrevPage +
".htm'>Previous</a>");
if (NextPage < 100) {
if (NextPage < 10) {
var NextPageDigit = "00";
}else{
var NextPageDigit = "0";
document.write("<a href = '" + NextPageDigit + NextPage +

}else{

This will be my first mac laptop, so my question if i am goin to miss a huge jump in the specifications for the next year release or not ?
We know there will eventually be a new MacBook Air (though the terms of use here prohibt speculation about it). We have no idea when it will come out or what it's specs will be. Retired Engineer's advice is exactly the same as mine. If you need a computer now, buy it. It is a powerful computer and except for the fact there's no 2TB SSD available (not that I could afford it if one existed) it could be my one and only computer. If you merely want a new computer, wait until you need one.

Thanks in Advance
Shalini RathoreHi, thanks for the reply!
Just to follow up for what we did to disable the delete function for maintaining table records. We hided the Delete button by adding a "MODULE disable_delete" code in Screen Painter. So now only adding records to the table is allowed.

What can i do to upgrade her ipad . It need the version IOS7 to download anything she wants
Based on teh model number, that should be an iPad 2. If you are not already on iOS 5 or later, you will need to plug it into a computer running a current version of itunes in order to update (updates via Wifi did not becaome available until 5).

Previously I had my Unlocked GSM Treo Pro connected to my 2009 Mrcedes E550 using bluetooth and had full functionality for phone and address book. Recently I received a replacement Treo Pro device from Palm under a warranty replacement due to a frozen touchscreeen and have had difficulties connecting the new device to this vehicle. I have troubleshooted thoroughly and have been able to connect my phone to other cars and other bluetooth devices and also have been able to connect other phones to my car, which has isolated that the issue is the connection between my Palm device and my car's bluetooth. The device is connecting intially to my car, but then the connections alternates continuously between being connected and searching for a connection-making it unusable. I have already installed the Treo 850 patch TreoProBTpatch.CAB to this new device and it has not resolved the issue. Please advise if there is any explanation why I was able to get my prior device to connect and am not able to get the same model replacement device to do so. I have visited the dealership to review and after being unsuccessful in connecting they recommended I contact Palm.

The next model of iPhone ?
Is there any chance, for the love of God, that Apple will add an SD memory card slot to the next iPhone maybe the iPhone6 ?
Thank you for the comments and speed at which you posted them.
Since the iPhone first appeared and changed the world of cell phones, at no point has Apple bothered to fit an SD slot. Obviously, they prefer users to use iTunes and the cloud.
But when you are standing in the middle of a field, away from any computer, iTunes is useless and the cloud simply is no substitute to actual on board, removable memory. The cloud is however useful as an additional storage that can be accessed by the user, from any computer anywhere.
Thanks again.
I went to one of their Feedback sites, Read the policy, discovered a link for enhancement request and suggested the SD card slot as an enhancement. -

Mini : base model vs next one?
I have a Mac mini (2011) for which I replaced memory (from 2GB to 4GB) (memory purchased on eBay at fraction of Apple cost).
I now want to buy another of these beasts, but I wonder if there is a huge difference between the ATI display and the Intel 3000 ? Easier to do dual monitors ? (if feasible at all)??
My rationale would go for base model, get it with a 7200 rpm HDD (I want to use it for digital audio workstation (Pro Tools) and occasional video (Fnal Cut Studio or Adobe CS 5.5). No serious gaming intended. Then I'd upgrade it with third party memory to 8GB. This would keep the cost barrier to $750 more or less.
If I go for the next model, adding the 7200 rpm HDD would add $150, bringing it to close to $900, and still, I would have paid for 4GB mem which I'd throw in the garbage for 8GB...
Only difference I can see is the display adapter, and... 2.3 to i7 2.5 (still core 2 ...)
Any insignts ?Thanks very much woodmeister50 . Indeed, I was at an Apple Store today and that guy made me realize I could even think of using Boot Camp and have Win and OS X on a Mac mini. Then with your reply, I went and saw I could even use one HDD for each on a Mac Mini Server (I guess ??) - which would avoid me to disconnect everything in my studio when I need to switch from Mac to PC and vice versa...(an audio Interface in Firewire, a USB midi interface, keyboard/mouse/monitors...
Any additional advice on this ?
You sort of brought the final drop on the cake in my decision: it's either the base model, or the Server ! And I'm falling more and more on the side of the server!
One nebulous question for which I have not (yet) found satisfying reply: Can I use dual monitors (screens) with a Mac mini (server or else) ? (That is: in extended display mode) ? I read it works, it does not, it's difficult... It requires adapter on the Thunderbolt.... Is there an easy (and not costly) way ?
Thanks again,
Rob -
Nokia 8800 Series vs. E72
Hullo all.
I am due to refresh my phone soon and am wondering if there is any definitive news on the next model in the 8800 series?
I currently have the Arte (8800e) and have had the Sirrocco (8800d) and the original 8800 in the past.
I am of two minds to wait and see or go for the E72...
Does anyone know anything firm about the rumored 88XX Erdos (perhaps 8820)?
Cheers in advance.Opps - sorry about mentioning rumours, did not realise it was against the rules.
What I am looking for is a smartphone, primarily for push email and onscreen feed updates, with a similar form factor to the 8800 series.
What I like about the series is it's quality of build, materials (OLED screen), and slide form.
I'll hold out for a month or two and see if anything hits the market.
If only there was a way to put S60 on the Arte
Thanks, -
Get a Samsung HDTV and ATV or wait for the latest model?
A newbie to HDTV, video and ATV.
I have almost decided to buy the Samsung 50" plasma HDTV PN50A650. But have discovered that Samsung has a new model PN50A760 with added capabilities for playing video and wireless networking.
Connectivity is an issue to me. Spending all the green on a HDTV, I do not want it to be obsolete in 4 years. What if I get a digital camcorder? Or Apple introduces a flat-rate movie-rental scheme? My options:
OPTION A) Wait a few months until the $500 premium for the new model drops.
Some excerpts for reviews of the latest 760 model:
"The 7 series can playback video content stored on a USB device while the 6 series are limited to images and audio."
(Naively, I thought that all HDTVs should be able to play back video.)
"The 7 Series can stream audio, video and pictures over your home network."
"The TV recognizes not only MP3 and JPEG files but also XviD and MPEG4 files to enjoy video playback."
"The TV can also reach out to your home network and play back photos, videos and music stored on networked computers. You'll need to install special software, included with the TV, onto your PC." This could be some very basic software. Suitable for Macs?
"While this feature seems pretty cool, it's not as good as similar functionality built into a PS3 or an Xbox 360, let alone that of a dedicated network media streamer like Apple TV. Despite being billed as DLNA-compliant, the TV won't play nice with DLNA server software like Windows Media Player 11 or TVersity, so you're stuck with the included proprietary software. Samsung's software is basic..." (Compatibility with Macs?)
OPTION B) Buy the older model and then, add ATV. The total cost will be less and I think, the video playback (through my iMac?) and networking capabilities (2Wire Wi-Fi) will be much better. But I see there have been problems between ATV and Samsung HDTV.
Isn't the combo with ATV a much more capable and flexible (and cheaper) long-term solution? Which Samsung is unlikely to match?
Thanks for your valuable advice! (Urgent for the X-Mas season!)Winston, I think you're missing my points:
1) If you're interested in a device for watching HD video, then you can compare the AppleTV and Blu-Ray. You then have to look at what other features they provide, or don't provide as the case may be, and decide. I was just giving my opinion on an alternative.
2) There was no detailed information given as to what the streaming capabilities were and so I was giving my opinion again.
To say that there is little difference quality wise between current HD broadcasts (even if some are 1440x1080i) and the maximum output of the AppleTV at 1280x720 shows a total lack of experience on your part of watching HD broadcasts on a TV capable of 1920x1080, or a lack of appreciation of the better detail contained in the picture. It's like comparing AppleTV HD at 1280x720 with DVD PAL native resolution of 720x576 and saying there is little difference quality wise. But then if you look at the US market where 30fps is standard, the AppleTV cannot support resolutions higher than 960x540, and then you really are lowering the benefits of the AppleTV over DVD quality, and the difference between the AppleTV and HD broadcasts is even bigger.
I have compared video from HD broadcast at 1920x1080 with the same video converted down to 1280x720 on the AppleTV, and the loss of detail is noticeable, especially when watching on a 40" TV, not an uncommon size these days with them being used with games consoles. Before you comment, no it is nothing to do with how I convert them, there is just physically far fewer pixels available. I much prefer watching 1920x1080 through my Media PC than watching 1280x720 through my AppleTV.
Also, as we all know it happens, there is software available freely on the internet - no names will be mentioned - that allow the convertion of movies from DVD to a PC, and likewise from HD-DVD and Blu-Ray to a PC. So reality is that it's available now and with the cost of 1TB and 1.5TB HDDs so cheap, the potential for a 1920x1080 resolution video collection for playing on a 1920x1080 TV is already there. Saying it's not going to happen 'any time soon' is rediculous as it's already happening, albeit quietly, especially as talk of how to do such things is not allowed on this forum.
You keep using this phrase 'any time soon' without quantifying it. You use words like 'unlikely'. We live in a fast changing world. The world of televisions has changed dramatically in the last two years, whereby nearly all mid-priced TVs (both plasma and lcd) from about £800 GBP upwards now support native 1920x1080. Two years ago I paid over £1500 GBP for a 37" plasma supporting native 1024x720. You can now buy Sony OLED 11" TVs, which a couple of years ago were just being shown off as prototypes. In my opinion, OLED will blow away lcd and plasma tv sales within 5 years, and in my timescale, that is any time soon.
12 months ago I bought a blu-ray player for a PC, whilst people around me were going for hd-dvd. The format wars was predicted as not going to end 'any time soon' and no one could have forseen that within 6 months the whole blu-ray / hd-dvd argument would be over.
For your information, ABC in the US have been broadcasting in HD for over 10 years.
But as I keep saying Winston, these are my opinions. You're allowed yours and I'm allowed mine.
