I have now transfered my files of ripped CD's to my iTunes library three times Since upgrading to iTunes 11 and Windows 8. On each occassion, the conversion seems to occur fine, the files play, but when I close my computer and return the next day, iTunes says it cannot locate any of those files. Three times. Beginning to lose my temper. Advice? Suggestions? Could the fact that my original library is located on a network drive have anything to do with it? Thanks for your help, all.

    Repair security permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7/8 shouldn't be too different.
Repeat for the media folder if it isn't a subfolder of the iTunes folder.

  • Search for iTunes items by price

Is it possible o search for iTunes items such as movies & music by price? For example all the movies that are $6.99 or any other price by that matter, not just the few that iTunes has listed in their movies home page.

The "big offer" IS what you are missing. The movies that are normally 9.99 being reduced to 4.99 for a limited time but unable to find them is counter productive on Apple's part. If you are going to put movies on sale, you need to have a way for people to find out what those movies are!
It's like a store having a Black Friday Sale flyer with random products that are not on sale, but the store would like you to buy them. You can go to the store to find the Black Friday deals but you have to look at every product on every self in every isle to see if they have a sale sticker on them.
That's how hard it is to find movies that are $4.99 on the iTunes Store now. I used to purchase 5-10 movies a month when the Limited Time $4.99 Movies was something you could just click and see. Now I buy maybe 2-3 movies because I hate clicking on every genre and then every movie in the genre to check the SD price because it only shows the HD and Rental prices in the genre lists.

  • After hours to load ATV upon next sync itunes wipes the unit clean

After countless hours it has taken to load the ATV with video, music, and photos about 10 gig worth upon my next sync itunes erases the unit leaving it empty, as if I had not placed any data on it. Anyone having the same issue and has anyone found a solution? I have only had the ATV for a week and this is the third time this has happened.

I also had this problem, the amount of time it is taking to transfer info to your ATV depends what kind of router you have, for large files a "N" router works best, better for large files such as movies. Next you need to set your ATV on Automatic sync, it will however transfer everything, but atleast it stays there. The custom setting transfers it back to computer for you to make changes to your ATV on a regular basis.

  • How can I share my itunes items with my wife?

Anyone know how I can share items in my itunes library with my wife? We both have Iphones but I don't know how to be able to let her download from

  • How do I disable "up next" on itunes 11 (or at least make it play the next song in my playlist and not some random one)

ITunes 10 was great and I heard nothing but horror stories about 11 so I didn't upgrade until I got my new computer and pushed my music over.  In fact, I accidentally hit update and disconnected my computer from the Internet to stop it from happening, but was too late and now I'm stuck with it.
When I play a song and the song ends, instead of playing the next song on the list, it plays some random other song.  When I "clear list," iTunes doesn't play anything at all.  What gives?  What happened to the greatest media player?  As a pro audio engineer, I've got over 150Gb of music and this just doesn't fly.  I HAVE to have my music in order and if iTunes can't do that, what is its purpose?
    Help, please.

iTunes 11 works fine on my computer...   I think you need to check the "Shuffle" settings in all of your playlists, including the main library...   It sounds like for whatever reason, iTunes is automatically shuffling your playlists...

  • Transfer purchased itunes items to new iMac without authorizing?

Hello. Hopefully this is in the right place to post this question.
I will hopefully be purchasing a new iMac in september to replace my macbook.
    My question is this:
I have purchased items from the iTunes store, but no longer have access to the account. Is there a way to transfer these files (or the entire library) to the new computer and still access them without having to authorize the new computer through iTunes? What I basically need is a way to be able to use the files on the new computer, and not use them on the old computer, without actually reauthorizing, since I no longer can get access to the account.
I'm not sure how migration assistant works, or if there is even a way I can do this, but I thought I'd ask.
My only other option, I suppose is to burn all 900 or so songs to CD, so that the protections don't transfer over. But thats an immense amount of time, money, and then more time renaming all the tracks (I'm a stickler for that).
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

We don't know the security questions my father put on, and can't access his email either.
I guess since you can de-authorize a computer, and then reauthorize a new one, I wasn't sure if it was possible to somehow transfer authorization, without needing the password, maybe using migration assistant. But, I assume thats just for the actual files.
Anyway, thanks for your prompt reply.

  • HT2736 How can I gift an iTunes item across different regions?

I live in the US and my iTunes account is set-up in this region. Is it possible to gift something from iTunes to someone living in the UK who has a British iTunes account and British-bought iPhone?

At the moment it's only possible to gift items (including gift certificates) to people whose account is based in the same country as your own - if you try it then it may appear to then go through, but the recipient won't be able to redeem it.

  • ITunes item info - was good, now must click twice to get product info

Does anyone else find the new look iTunes 9 less useful and user friendly the the previous version? It was nice to look at release date and other info for albums, songs, books, etc. in pervious iTunes versions, BUT NOW one must scroll over an click on the "i" symbol to get additional info on all items. It is inefficient and in some cases slows down the use of iTunes. C'mon Apple get back to common sense. Sometimes the bells and whistles of old are much better than anything new and much more efficient.
Does anyone from APPLE read these reviews and comments? Seems like not at all

Thanks to all who helped with this.

  • How to transfer acquired itunes items or apps to someone with an own account?

Hi! My son has his first own ipod touch and his own Apple ID. Now, I would like to transfer all "his" apps and his itunes tracks on his new ipod / his Apple ID. What do I have to do?
    Thx Jörg

    This is not possible.
Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.
And this is the relevant Information from the first reply...
You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • How do I turn on surround sound (5.1) for all my iTunes items?

In iTunes, while a video is playing, I can go to Controls/Audio and Subtitles and select English (Surround Audio). This allows the sound to work with my 5.1 Dolby Digital audio setup.
It looks, though, like the only way to turn this on is to actually be playing the video. I have gone into iTunes and selected a whole set of videos, then selected the surround sound - but that didn't work. As soon as I played a video I hadn't played before, it was back to stereo, and I had to manually make the selection again. (Now, once I make the selection it sticks; I don't have to do it again. But, I still have to do it for each individual video.)
How can I "turn on" surround sound for all items that have it?

    1. Double-click the Home button and swipe Task Bar to the right
    2. Check the volume and mute settings

  • ITunes items not copied because they could not be found.

When attempting to synch any iTunes content with my iPhone I receive a message that "Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPhone because they could not be found. Actually, none of the iTunes content can be found. My iTunes library is on an external drive and I do not have a problem with synchronization of iPod or AppleTV. I would prefer not to move the library back to my machine, as it will take up too much space. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any thoughts?

Oddly enough it could be a corrupted photo cache that causes this error message.  The message may clear up if you delete the "iPod Photo Cache" folder in iPhoto, see this thread for info:

  • Please tell me how to disable "up next" in iTunes????

I'm really trying to be a good boy and drink the iTunes Kool Aid - I don't complain when Apple completely moves important functions around, hides others, and adds more and more useless capabilities. I just suck it up and relearn the UI and don't complain. Until now.
*** is up with "Up Next"??????? Pleeeeeeeze tell me how to turn it off. I have searched for a solution but no joy.
A music management program should not tell me what to listen to. I want to tell it what I want to listen to. Even when I tell it what I want to listen to, it doesn't believe me and plays something else?????????? This is insane.
If you want to have optional automatic playlist generation features, that's fine. No problem with that at all. But who exactly do you think you are to write software that thinks it is smarter than I am???? Just put in a switch, for god sakes. That's all I ask.
    Thanks

iTunes has in the past always played all visible checked tracks starting with the first track that you play. Unless I'm mistaken it still works that way, but you can use the Up Next control to clear down the list and/or edit it if you choose. I'm not sure what you think is different in this respect, or at least what you think you can no longer do.

  • How to move ONLY one iTunes item from iPad to computer

How do I move JUST one item from my iPad to the computer using the new iTunes?  I do NOT want to sync everything on the iPad to the computer.  I do NOT want the computer to download anything from the store.
My home internet connection isn't much faster than dial-up.  I also have access to a high-speed internet connection somewhere else, so have been buying or renting movies and TV shows with the iPad.  if I've purchased them, I transfer them to a separate iTunes library I have on an external hard drive connected to my computer and remove them from the iPad, since memory on it is an issue.
I just tried to do that for the first time using the newest version of iTunes.  First iTunes went to the store to download a movie, which would take 8 hours and that I didn't want.  I quit the program and selected sync from iPad.  Then, it proceeded to automatically transfer a bunch of books and podcasts that I don't want to transfer (and it will take a bunch of extra time).  How can I transfer ONLY the one episode of a TV show that's on the iPad?  I don't want to transfer anything else, not the books and so on.  I can't find any way to do that in the latest version of iTunes.
Is there any way to restore the old iTunes, so that I can individually choose what I want to copy to the computer from the iPad?

    mtngal2,
I've had this same problem and I haven't received a response how to get around it.
    Have you received any answers?
