"+" Next to ringtone

Hi,
I read through the user manual but didn't see this one listed. When I'm looking at my contacts and choose to edit information, there is a green "+" next to the ringtone field. I'm really just wondering what this does, as nothing happens once I tap it, other than it highlights the ringtone box.

Here it is again...
Connect the device
On the Tones tab (select your device in iTunes) uncheck Sync Tones
Sync the device
Check Sync Tones

  • Purchased Ringtones vs tones folder

I have, in the recent past, purchased ringtones via my iphone. They have syncd just fine back into iTunes and I can see them under the tones list.  They appear in the itunes media folder in the ringtones folder.
This week, I bought some tones, to be used as text alert, etc, on my iphone. They synced fine as well. But, I notice that a new folder was created inside the itunes media folder called "tones" right next to "ringtones" folder.
Everything appears fine in the iTunes window when looking at the tones part of the library, but when you look at the iPhone tones (under the iphone icon), I see exclamation marks.  Like I said, everything works, just not use to seeing that.

    Thank you for your reply.
I followed all of the instructions in the URL below.
    http://www.ehow.com/how_2160460_custom-iphone-ringtones-free.html
but fell at the last hurdle, item 16. The clip went to my Music file, but won't go to the "Tones" file.
    I also watched this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RroJKNPRU0
which gives a slightly different method of loading the clip to itunes, but it didn't help.
    I even watched:
    http://cnettv.cnet.com/create-free-ringtones-itunes-10/9742-1_53-50093086.html
and there it seems so easy, he just drags the desk icon to the Library and it goes to the right place.

  • 391 purchased---no ringtones

Thanks to the new iTunes update, I have purchased 391 songs and 0 are able to be made into ringtones. It wasn't like that the other day. Anyone else with the same problem?

I'm having the same problem. My iTunes Library showed about 15 songs that had a ringtone available symbol. Four of them I turned into ringtones, next day ringtone symbol is not showing. One minute it's there, next minute it's not. Looks like a major bug.

  • ITunes Ringtones Icon

I have the latest iTunes version. There is no Ringtones icon next to the name of my song but there is a Ringtones tab on the left hand side Under "Library" category
I just want to know which songs that I already own have Ringtones so I won't have to re-download the song.

Go to iTunes > Preferences and place a check mark next to Ringtones.

  • Ringtones/ringback

After getting the maxx last week I have been having trouble getting my ringtone/ ring back to change. I have purchased both and set default to the new ones but they still play my old ones. I have only seen a place to manage ring back on my phone and online. They show the new ones default, but it rings a standard ring. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

  • Iphone 4s purchased iTunes ringtone there and gone next day.

I bought a ringtone through iTunes for my iPhone 4s. It showed up as my ringtone and then the next day it was gone. Any ideas how I can get it back?

There has been a issue with ringtones and apple knows about it and is working on fixing it.
Apple is advising customers not to repurchase ringtones and if you did, just give them a ring and they will refund you.
Until then don't purchase any more ringtones at least until the next update.
You can request a refund by going to the Account section within iTunes on a Mac or PC, or you can get help by chat, or contact Apple Care.

I do not have a tones tab on the top of itunes when i have clicked on my phone in side list. Some other posts have said to uncheck and re check sync tones, but i am unable to locate this.

Looks like it could be related to the Prokit error...
Follow the instructions exactly, no more, no less.
After the procedure follow the link at the end of the page and download/Install Prokit 7.

If there are still problems try opening Logic in 32-bit mode, then switch back to 64-bit

  • Iphone 5 ringtones won't sync.....

I have tried everything to get my ringtones into the tones folder on itunes. Nothing seems to work any suggestions?????? anyone?????

    figured it out
in the ringtones section on iTunes (not under my iPhone) i noticed that i had exclamation marks next to all of my ringtones.  you have to double click on each one and locate your ringtone (for some reason it has lost the link to the original).  if you cannot locate, try using your spotlight search to find them and click on it - you may get a duplicate in your ringtones, but you can just delete the one that doesn't work.
once you found them all, then do the uncheck sync, check sync (as stated above) and they're all back
