Nexus 5010 has problem connecting to external switch

We have a 5010 switch and attempted to connect to an external 1000Base-T switch using the Ethenet Connector Ports (labeled L1 and L2), however, it won't connect out. I think there's something I'm missing but according to the user guide, L1/L2 port is supposed to connect to external router, hub, or switch. So what is the problem? Thanks.

Colin,
The documention you are citing is general hardware installation and not great in terms  of configuration. Think of it as a physical guide to racking, plugging cables in, where to mount brackets and so on.
Use this section in the config guide to configure mgmt0:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5000/sw/configuration/guide/cli_rel_4_0_1a/initconfig.html#wp1110654
L1 and L2 are not active interfaces at this time.  In the future, they might be used for vPC (virtual port-channel) communication.

  • Macbook sometimes has problems connecting

The brief summary is that my Macbook (white, core duo) has problems connecting to my G network when it has been on sleep mode. A restart usually fixes the issue until the computer goes to sleep again.
The G network is comprised of a Linksys WRT54GS that connects using WDS to the AirPort Express (G model). This network is used for any devices that use B/G and to share a printer. I use MAC address filtering (the lists are updated on both the AirPort Express and the Linksys routers), and security is WEP 128 (Because I could never get WPA or WPA2 to work with WDS...)
Here is what I've done to try to remedy the situation:
    * Tried to remove the wireless security, and just let the MAC filtering work. This had no effect.
    * Tried to remove the MAC filtering, and just let the wireless security work. This also had no effect.
    * Tried to unplug the AirPort Express. _This worked, and allows the Macbook to connect everytime._
This leaves me somewhat puzzled; why would restarting the macbook allow it to connect? (this would imply the problem is with the airport express, not the macbook?), Is it more likely that it's the AirPort Express device itself or a problem with the WDS linking? (Airport Utility shows everything is fine). I use manually-assigned IPs, but could it be a problem with IP lease times?
While most computers use the Airport extreme N network (which is wired to the linksys router), all iPod touchs (5 of them), iPhones, and two PCs use the same G network and have never exhibited the same problem. I have reformatted the white macbook, deleted any airport preference files, etc., to no avail.
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    Dave.

    Dave,
Check some settings on your Macbook as follows:
Open System Preferences and click on Network so that your connections are displayed on the left of the pane.
Click the small gear shaped icon at the bottom of the connection list area
Select Set Service Order and make sure your Airport connection is at the top of the list so that it will be first in line for a connection. (If ethernet is set first now, your computer is spending time trying to find an ethernet connection before it looks for an Airport connection).
Now click on your Airport connection on the left to highlight it and click Advanced at the lower right of the pane.
Make sure that your network is at the top of the list of wireless networks so your computer won't spend time looking for other wireless networks first.
Delete any networks that you no longer need.
Make sure there is a check mark next to "Remember any networks this computer has joined"
Leave the next two boxes unchecked.
    Any help?

  • My MacBook Air has problems connecting to a saved network when I first open it.

My MacBook Air has problems connecting to a saved network when I first open it. When it idles, the connection gets lost and even clicking on the network won't connect it. Then I have to turn off wireless and turn it back on for it to connect. My boyfriend's MacBook Pro does not have this same problem and this problem started maybe 2 months ago and nothing about our internet or router has changed, and its only my computer having the problem. Its a 2013 MacBook Air and my softward is: OS X 10.9.1 (13B42). Please help!

    Hello, nheredia05.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple steps that I could recommend trying.  Power cycle the router and test to see if the behavior persists.  Next, try an remove this prefered network from your list and then add it back again.  Make sure all firmware updates have been processed on the router side and the settings have been optimized for performance.  If the issue still persists try the steps in the second article.

  • One Z10 works fine, the other has problems connecting to mobile network

Hi, my wife and I both have Z10's, and we're both on the same mobile network (Wind Mobile in Canada). The wife's Z10 seems to have no problems connecting to or staying connected to Wind Mobile. Mine on the other hand seems to randomly drop the connection, or has trouble obtaining connection, and sometimes ends up roaming.
The only difference between the two Z10's is that hers is purchased through Wind Mobile itself, and it is locked to their network for the moment. I purchased mine a bit later, and I bought mine directly through Blackberry's online store, and mine is therefore unlocked. What I have to do sometimes is turn off the mobile connection, and turn it back on, and it works after I do that. However, that's annoying, as I'd rather have it automatically retry the network connection so that it doesn't go roaming within my own city.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you're passing by a Wind store in the near future, why not drop in and ask if they'll swap SIM cards for you? It could be something with the SIM.
In the meantime, try resetting your phone. This is equivalent to doing a battery pull and it's usually the first thing I recommend when troubleshooting an issue. Simply press and hold your power button for about 15 seconds until you see BlackBerry on your screen. Don't release the button before that and ignore anything that appears before BlackBerry.
Let us know if either of those solutions helps you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Problems connecting to external monitor

Hi, ive just purchased a imac this week and one of my first tasks is connecting a external monitor to watch my films on. Ive watched a few youtube tutorials on how to do it and it seemed easy, the items i have are:
    1, Hdmi Cable
2, Mini displayport to Hdmi adaptor
    3, 32 inch samsung 1080p hdtv
So i connected the hdmi cable to the hdmi2 socket on my tv, i then connected the hdmi cable to the mini display adaptor and then connected the adaptor to the mini display port on the back of my imac, so now according the videos on youtube, both monitors are supposed to flash blue and then the display will appear on my tv. But absolutely nothing happens, my imac screen doesnt flash blue, and my tv still says "HDMI 2 - No signal".
So im stuck know on what to do next, i tried changing my screen resolution to a lower resolution on my imac just incase the tv wouldnt pick the signal up becuase it was too high of a resolution but that hasn't worked.
I know its not my tv and its not the hdmi lead as i connected it to my xbox360 and it worked fine. My first suspicions were that the adaptor was faulty, but i disconnected the wire and removed the adaptor from the back of the imac, i then attached the adaptor back to the hdmi cable ( while not attached to the imac) and the tv went completely blank for 3 seconds and came back to "Hdmi 2 - no signal" So im guessing the adaptor isnt faulty?
Any suggestions or help on this subject would be great!
    Thanks

Have you tried resetting the PRAM?
    Reset the PRAM
    • (Re)start the computer
    • Immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys
    • Wait for two startup chimes
    • Release the keys and allow the computer to boot.
Also Apple suggests that you always turn on the display/TV first before turning on the Mac so that the Mac gets a good read on the display's identification of itself to the Mac. I would power down both devices and connect all of the cables. Then power up the TV and lastly power up the Mac.

  • Problem connecting an external display or projector to Retina Macbook Pro

I have a problem with my rMBP (MAC OS:10.8.2) and i'm not sure if it is just an easy fix or if there is a serious hardware issue.
I connect my rMBP to an external projector Hitachi CPX3011 (max resolution 1600x1200) very often for my presentation.
I use a Thunderbolt port to mini display port to VGA adapter to connect my laptop to this projector.
When I plug it into my projector the screen on my rMBP goes black and nothing shows up on the projector.
I try both of the Thunderbolt port, the rMBP switches resolutions and goes back
I called Apple, but the guy just told me to they never encounter this before, (case number 368401545).
Is there something that I am missing here???
Or do you guys think that my Thunderbolt port could be faulty.
By the way, just to be a little more descriptive. When I connect my projector to my rMBP on the port that doesn't work, my screen immediately turns black. I can still see my mouse pointer, but its incredibly HUGE. About the size of a dime.
Please help if you can. I really appreciate it. Check out the video for this problem.

I had the similar problem but it was specific to running windows 7 through bootcamp.  The only way i was able to get the laptop to work with a projector was by purchasing a USB 3 to Vga dongle (essentially an external graphics card)

  • Problem connecting to external harddrive

I've read loads of threads all over the internet about people having similar problems to me but so far I am yet to find any answers or a solution to my problem!
I've got a new macbook pro 13" running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I am trying to connect it to my external hard drive, a Freecom Hard Drive Pro 500GB using firewire. So far finder has not been picking it up and neither has disk utility, yet system profiler still recognises it when I select the firewire tab, it just doesnt seem to want to mount. I have also tried using usb to connect the drive and this isn't working either.
I previously used this drive with my iMac G5 and that was when the problem started so I'm guessing that it is a problem with my drive instead? I have a complete backup on my external drive of my imac, plus around 100 movies and a approx 100gb of music and loads of applications so I'm hoping I can save these and get my drive to mount with out reformatting or anything...
Can anyone give me a hand in fixing my problem?
    Many thanks

What does System profiler actually "see" under the firewire tab, Ed?
If all is well with the drive then it should show the bridge in the enclosure, and then, indented beneath this, information about the drive itself (Capacity, the fact that it is removable, its BSD name, partition Map Type, etc) and then, indented again, the name of any volume or volumes on the drive, available free space on the volume, Whether it is writable, the File System in use on it, BSD name and Mount Point.
If it only shows the bridge in the enclosure, but not the drive itself, then either the bridge is faulty, or the HD itself is faulty, or the two are not properly connected to each other inside the enclosure, or the drive is not receiving sufficient power to run.
    Cheers

When i disconnect the external display it works fine but i do computer aided engineering and cad and need a bigger screen so this is annoying. It happens while in Windows7 bootcamp and in lion 10.7

  • Macbook Pro Retina problem connecting to external monitor

    Hello Community,
I've been experiencing a problem, I bought a 13' Macbook Pro Retina. Not quite a cheap machine.
But when I connect through HDMI to my HP 23xi , the screen gets blurry and cut. I tried messing with the configurations, but it simply won't get better.
I presume it's because it is retina, of course. But I bought this monitor, a quite nice monitor a month ago, and I do not want to sell it nor throw it away.
    What should I do?
    My Kindest Regards,
    Luisvf7

    Hi luisvf7,
So it seems you are having issues with your MacBook Pro not displaying properly on your external display. It does sound like a frustrating situation. Let’s see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot the problem -

  • The boundaries of the screen of my iPhone 5S started twinkling and it has problems connecting to wifi (both problems appeared at the same time), does anybody know what to do?

I have an iPhone 5S, I charged it this morning and after that I noticed that it had two problems:
1- It detects and connects to wi-fi but has no internet connection (it´s not a problem with the Wi-Fi because it works OK)
2- The bottom and the sides of the screen started twinkling, it lookes like the distortions that appear when you touch a plasma screen.
Does anybody know why this happened and how can I fix it?

    Hello, FlorPochi.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you may be experiencing a self-assigned IP address.  Try power cycling your router and testing the results.  If the issue persists, I would recommend going through all of the steps in the article below.

  • Problems connecting to External Hard Drives

I've been connecting to my external hard drive using airpot extreme for a year now without any problems. However, I hooked up an additional hard drive to my hub today and I can't access either of them. Looking at aiport utility, both hard drives are listed but both say 0 users connected. When I try to 'connect as' nothing happens. Any ideas on how to fix this? Keeping in mind that I'm not the most computer savvy person on my best days.
    Thanks in advance.

I can connect them both but only one at a time. I tried accessing the first drive and then accessing the second and it was knocking my network offline and I had to reboot. Now, I can connect to one (but only using Go>Connect to Server) and then unmount and connect to the other. Is this normal? I don't have much experience with mac of airport so I wasn't sure if I should be able to connect to both at the same time or not.

  • Problem connecting belkin wemo switch to hime hub ...

Have a belkin wemo switch which connected to network with no issues using old netgear router.
Now we have upgraded to BTs home hub 4, we cannot get the wemo device to connect to the network,
Has anyone else experienced this and are you able to offer us any advice?

The IP subnet is different on the home hubs. Reset your Belkin device to factory default, and set it up again, it should pick up the correct IP and subnet.

  • Problem connecting to external SQL table using BCS in SharePoint Foundation 2010

    Hi all,
I am working on SharePoint Foundation 2010. I have a requirement wherein I need to connect to SQL in some other server.
I used BCS to create external content type and then I created an external list. now when I try to view the list on browser it says "Login failed for the user NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGIN".
I am using "User's Identity" for authentication with SQL.
How can solve this issue. Please help.
    any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

That sounds like you might not be using Kerberos and/or your Kerberos authentication isn't working to pass your credentials.
As you may know there's a limitation with NTLM permissions that prevents something known as the 'double hop'. This is where a server (SharePoint for example) tries to request things on your behalf. With NTLM you can't do this at all, the alternative is to
use Kerberos which can handle double hops. One thing to know about Kerberos, if it's not completely set up right then IIS and SharePoint will almost always revert to NTLM so it's easy to think you've enabled it only to discover it's failing and you're really
    using NTLM.
This guide will take you through setting up Kerberos in painful detail, it's great:

  • HT204057 problems connecting an external hard drive to Time Capsule

I have a 2,5 multimedia hard drive connected to my brand new time capsule. But I can't access to the external hard drive from the iMac.
I can't access neither to the Time capsule data disk nor the external hard drive from my portable windows 7 computer.
Is there any restricction applying to the format of the hard drives?
Any clue how to configure the network in windows to access to the Time Capsule?

USB hard drives, attached to an AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule, work best when formatted as HFS+. Those formatted in FAT32 will work as well. Drives formatted in NTFS or ExFAT will not work.
When properly shared out, this drive can be accessed from both Macs and PCs, as well as, Linux-based computers. For PCs, this drive is considered a network drive and accessing it would be the same.

It seems strange to me that viewing or sending web-mail would actually "need" Java for operation, its more likely that some other item on the web page needs Java to run some advertising or other garbage that isn't a necessary part of the web-mail functionality you want to use.
