Nexus 5548 password prompt delay

Hi All,
We are in the process of commissioning a flexpod using 2 nexus 5548UP switches.  Everything is working fine, except for the delay when remotely connecting to the 5548 switches.  When logging in via the console port, you get prompted for a password immediately.  If you connect via the VTY line, there is ~30 second delay between the login username and the password prompt.........no rhyme or reason for it that I can decipher.  This began happening even before we applied aaa to the switch - which works fine.  Anyone have any ideas where I should be looking?  I can't find any documents or configurations on the switches that cause that type of delay.
Tanya.

Thanks for your reply Greg.  Turns out it was DNS that was configured on the Nexus switches.  Incorrect DNS entries caused login delays (~30secs).  Once I corrected them, everything works great!
Thanks again.
Tanya

  • Telephony Issues on Nexus 5548

    Dear Viewers,
I have Nexus 5548 devices in one of my client data centers and i have one 3750 switch to which all of these Avaya voice servers connect.
The 3750 switch was initially connected through a L2 Link to a 6509 catalyst switch and the telephony applications were working correctly.
The problem arises when i move this 3750 layer 2 link to a Nexus 5548 (OS version 5.1(3)N1 switch. All telephony calls coming from the outside (External calls) are not working as required but the internal calls work as usual.
What is odd is that when i migrate this L2 link back to the 6509 switch, all works as usual. This is just a layer 2 connection and i am wondering why this is not possible.
The vlan is accepted on all relevant trunks. I also deactivated igmp snooping on this voice vlan on the Nexus 5548 thinking it would help but in vain.
Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.
    regards.

And it is currently working. On the radius server i also had to do this to make the users admins once logged in:

  • Unable to make in app purchases, no password prompt

I initially tried to purchase items on a game but when prompted to put my password in I entered it correctly (100% sure) and it said something along the lines of cannot detect Apple ID or password is incorrect. A bit confused I decided to sign out and in of my itunes account. Upon going back to the app when I press ok to purchase the items the password prompt never appears, it isn't a delay as I waited for 10mins+ but nothing happens. I've verified my purchase details twice to no avail. If someone has a fix for this it would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you try to do the in-app purchase, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?
If you are getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them for help (we are fellow users here on these forums) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
    If it's a different problem ... ?

  • Help please with TACACS authentication from a Nexus 5548

I cannot get login working via TACACS from my Nexus 5548.  I've tried creating a group and a single server with key etc.
    Config is simple:
    tacacs-server key 7  ************
    ip tacacs source-interface Vlanx
    aaa group server tacacs+ tacacs
        server 10.x.y.z
The test aaa command shows it's authenticating:
    NEX01# test aaa server tacacs+  10.x.y.z <username> <password)
    user has been authenticated
    Debug shows this:
    NEX01# 2011 Jun  8 12:31:03 NEX01 %AUTHPRIV-3-SYSTEM_MSG: pam_aaa:Authentication failed for user <username>  from 10.x.y.z- login[1691]
Am I doing something glaringly wrong here?
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Paul,
Looks like may be the packet dont have the route ACS when you try to login .
Can you share sh run of the switch  ?
Also do you see failed attempt on tacacs server side. ?
Can you ping tacacs server with source interface Vlanx?
    Thanks

  • Time Machine multiple password prompts after 10.5.6 upgrade

Wanted to see if anybody else has noticed this behavior change since upgrading to 10.5.6. I back my MacBook Pro to a network drive shared from my Mac Mini. With 10.5.5 and earlier, I'd mount the network drive, and then set Time Machine to use it. I'd get one password prompt, for the initial mount of the network drive.
Post-10.5.6, I mount the network drive (password prompt #1), and then tell Time Machine to use that drive, and I get another password prompt from Time Machine. I'm not sure why this is, and it seems like a behavior change. Has anybody else noticed these double password prompts after going to 10.5.6?
    --Bernie

I have the exact same problem since upgrading to 10.5.6. The time machine arrows start spinning, and then stop with the exclamation point. I look at the dropdown and it says "Latest Backup: Delayed"
When I open Time Machine Preferences, it tells me I have 32.2 GB of 232.7 GB available. And in latest backup, it says "Failed" with the little "i" in the circle. When I click the "i" it tells me "The backup volume could not be mounted."
When I actually look at the contents of the drive (which definitely is mounted) I see a 200GB file (the correct size) named [name of my computer]_[some serial number].sparsebundle. The stuff in brackets is replaced since I don't know if that's the sort of thing that I should post.
What seems odd (although I haven't looked at the volume enough in the past to know if it is odd), is that both the modified date and the creation date are March 27, 2008 which, I believe, is when I first started using time machine.
The only other thing on that drive is a folder, "untitled folder"
That's it. I'm not sure about whether it's trying to backup when not connected, but I think I remember that.
Do these specifics fit with what you can see about the current state of your backup?
    Tom

  • Very low transfer speed issue on SUN4270 M2 server connected with nexus 5548 switch on 10GB fiber.

                       Hi,
I have 2 SUN 4270 M2 servers connected with Nexus 5548 switch over 10Gb fiber card. I am getting performance of just 60 MB per second while transfer of 5Gb file across 2 servers. The similar speed i use to get on 1Gb network also. Please suggest how to improve the tranfer speed. On servers, ports ET4 and ETH5 are bonded in bond0 with mode=1. The server envrionment will be used for OVS 2.2.2.

    Hi,
Thanks for reply..but the RX errors count is keep on increasing and the transfer speed between 2 servers are max 60MB/ps on 10GB FC card. Even on storage also, i am getting the same speed when i try to transfer data from server to storage on 10GB FC card. Servers and storage are connected through Nexus 5548 switch.

  • Computer Shuts Down At BitLocker Boot Password Prompt

    Hi All,
I have been using this computer for almost 6 months now with absolutely no problems until I encrypted my system drive with BitLocker. I am not using a TPM. Now, almost every time I get to the password prompt for BitLocker at boot, my computer turns completely
off. I am using an ASUS Z97-E. ASUS tech support was completely useless and wanted to pass the blame instead of help, so I guess I'm on my own as far as their support.
I have read previously that this may be related to ASUS products. I cannot seem to get it to boot reliably. If I completely remove power from the machine by unplugging it, sometimes that will give me enough time to enter my password. If I don't, often, it
will only give me a couple seconds (and my password is pretty long) before shutting down.
I have tried disabling Secure Boot and that seemed to help at first but then the problem came right back.
There is a BIOS update available but I'm not confident it will fix the problem.
Are there any specific BIOS settings I can change to make BitLocker stop making my computer shut down? Any Windows settings I can change that might help?
I'd really like to keep my data encrypted but I'm not sure if this hassle is worth it.

    Hi,
Based on my research, this is a firmware problem. It does not matter what authentication method (TPM/without TPM/PIN+TPM/Password only/...) is used, it leaves you only some seconds before it shuts down.
It's recommend you contact ASUS tell them to try and reproduce it. They would need to fix their BIOS.
In addition, we could try to disable "fast startup" as below steps to see if it could be as a workaround:
1.In Control Panel, open the Power Options item.
2.Click the Choose what the power buttons do link.
3.Clear the Turn on fast startup (recommended) check box.
    4.Click Save Settings.
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help, and unmark the answers if they provide no help. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact [email protected]

  • Freezes on startup during password prompt

Whenever I restart my computer it boots normally until the password prompt comes on. It still looks fine until i go to enter in a password.
As soon as i begin to enter a password the color spinning wheel appears and will start spinning forever. I usually have to turn it off and then turn it back on again.
Then sometimes on restart it will just go to a gray apple screen with the apple logo and hte spinning progress dial. This can also go on forever.
After many times of restarting the computer it will work. But i just switched to a mac and was wondering if there is anything I might be doing wrong or anything I should do to fix this.
    Thanks
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.10)

There's no reason not to take it in or call Applecare on the phone--I have found them to be very good at walking you through problems and determining if it is just a matter of setting preferences or if there is something actually wrong.
If you have access to an Apple store, I think they have free classes which will teach you how to use your computer (at least our Apple Store does). You might find this helpful if you are new to Macs.
    Good luck!

  • Password prompt after screen saver or lock screen

I am running Yosemite on two Macs – an early-2008 MBP 15" and a mid-2010 MBP 13". Both are configured for password after screen saver or when waking up. I have hot corners configured to enable screen saver (lower left), lock screen (upper right), disable screen saver (lower right). On awakening from either screen saver or lock screen, the 15" requests the password in a screen similar to the login after boot or switch user screen – the fullscreen, blurry background, prompt in the center. The 13" prompts for a password in an ordinary modal dialogue window that includes a lock icon and displays on a black background. The 13" has an external monitor attached, but the behavior is the same if it's disconnected. Both systems have one user, and identical settings in Users and Groups. The behavior is the same whether the Guest user is enabled or disabled.
I can't find any settings to account for the difference, even obscure ones shown in Onyx. Any ideas as to why the password prompt is handled differently in these two cases? Thanks in advance...

  • Shell script for password prompt

    Hi
I am using Solaris9 and trying to change password of a user with command:
    passwd userid
i want password to be given from text file or command line so that password is not prompted on the command line. Is there any way to do this?
I guess i am able to force the carriage return to be entered while entering the password from command line.
This is what I am doing:
    passwd userid << EOF
    newpassword
    newpassword
    EOF
But after this, it still gives me New Password prompt. Any help will be appreciated.

You could have a look at 'expect', it can set the password for you..

  • Password prompt Error with Bex and Excel 2007

    Hi Guru's,
We have a problem with end users that have the Bex add-in loaded in Excel 2007 when they are using a different 3rd party add-in.  The problem is when they close Excel, they get password prompted for a password protected VB project in the workbook.
I found a MSFT article that sounds exactly like the problem I'm seeing.  Link is below.
    Has anyone experienced this problem?
    Thanks
    Brian Winterlich

    Hi Brian:
Take a look at SAP Note 1397278 - "BPC: Pop-up window prompting for a password to unprotect the sheet in Journal template with Office 2007 SP2".

  • FCoE with Cisco Nexus 5548 switches and VMware ESXi 4.1

Can someone share with me what needs to be setup on the Cisco Nexus side to work with VMware in the following scenario?
Two servers with two cards dual port FCoE cards with two ports connected to two Nexus 5548 switches that are clusterd together.  We want to team the ports together on the VMware side using IP Hash so what should be done on the cisco side for this to work?
    Thanks...

    Andres,
The Cisco Road Map for the 5010 and 5020 doesn't include extending the current total (12) FEX capabities.  The 5548 and 5596 will support more (16) per 55xxk, and with the 7K will support upto 32 FEX's.
Documentation has been spotty on this subject, because the term 5k indicates that all 5000 series switches will support extended FEX's which is not the case only the 55xx will support more than 12 FEX.  Maybe in the future the terminology for the 5k series should be term 5000 series and 5500 series Nexus, there are several differences and advancements between the two series.

  • Password prompts - Exchange 2013 RTM vs. [Outlook 2007 & Outlook 2010] - Fully patched

    Exchange 2013 RTM  - Multi-Tenant
    ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
    InternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
    IISAuthenticationMethods           : {Basic, Ntlm, Negotiate}
Clients using Outlook Anywhere only, not Exchange domain members.
    1. Windows XP SP3 (fully patched), Outlook 2007 SP3 + Nov 2012 Patch - When launching Outlook prompts for password only once.
    2. Windows 7 (fully patched), Outlook 2010 (fully patched) - When launching Outlook doesn't prompt for password.
    I'm aware of this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956531
The goal - Eliminate issue with password prompts for Windows XP.
Any chance resolving this? CU install? Anything else?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on my experience, the credential issue is mostly likely caused by authentication method.
And I recommend the following troubleshooting:
    1. Change LmCompatibilityLevel on the windows XP client to a value of 2 or 3:
    a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
    b. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
    c. In the pane on the right side, double-click lmcompatibilitylevel.
    d. In the Value data box, type a value of 2 or 3 that is appropriate for your environment, and then click OK.
    e. Exit Registry Editor.
    f. Restart your computer
    2. Reset the windows credential store.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,
