Nexus DCNM System Requirement SUSE Linux in place of Red Hat Linux

Can we install DCNM management software on SUSE Linux in place of Red Hat Linux?

We only support windows and red hat today as it does take significant QA effort to qualify more operating systems. Expect to see red hat virtual appliance early next year along with db appliance.

    Is this iCloud.com's problem or Linux/Firefox's problem ?

  • UIX dynamic image generation problem under SUSE Linux

    Hi,
    we have developed an application with UIX 2.1.14 under Windows 2000, and everything works fine when we run the application on the local OC4J.
    But after deploying the .war file to our production system under SUSE Linux SLES-7 and 9iAS Rel.2, the dynamic image generation doesn't work correctly:
    One strange thing we noticed is that rendering works fine when we use ground colours like #00FF00, #FF0000 and so on. But not when we use colours like #3172ba. We have tried this with XVFB, VNC and with "headless" JDK 1.4 (with java option -Djava.awt.headless=true in opmn.xml).
    Any ideas? Or possible reasons why image generation works using colours like #FF0000 and why not with colours like #3172BA?

  • Ocfs2 RAC on Red hat linux 6 - kernel -- 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64 -Oracle11gR2

    Hello,
    We want to use ocfs2 as the shared file system for running Oracle RAC 11gR2 on Red hat linux 6.
    The red hat linux kernel is 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64.
    I checked the ocfs2 download site and there is no ocfs2 rpms for Red hat 6, infact there are no ocfs2 rpms for Linux 6.
    What options do I have if ...go down to Linux 5.x or move to Oracle linux 6.
    If my understanding is correct Oracle linux 6 has ocfs2 in the kernel itself and does not need to be installed separately.
    What other options do I have for having a shared file system .... ?
    Please comment.
    Thanks,
    X.

    Hi,
    Please refer to Note 1365511.1 - How to Configure LUNs for ASM Disks using WWID, DM-Multipathing, and ASMLIB on RHEL 5/OL 5 and RHEL 6/OL 6 . That note can help you to install and configure ASM properly.
    from the note:
    " For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (beginning with 6.4) the kernel driver package 'kmod-oracleasm' is available directly from Red Hat, and can be installed from the "RHEL Server Supplementary (v. 6 64-bit x86_64)" channel on Red Hat Network (RHN).  Updates to this module will be provided by Red Hat.  Please check with your Red Hat advisor for questions concerning support of the kernel driver package.  The 'oracleasmlib' and 'oracleasm-support' packages are maintained by Oracle; they are required in order to use kmod-oracleasm.  "

  • Sun Java System Web Server support for Red Hat EL 5

    Does anyone have any information when the Sun Java System Web Server might be supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server?
    Thanks

    Certification of RHEL5 will likely happen with one of the upcoming Update releases.
    There is, as far as I know, no reason why Web Server won't run on RHEL5 today though (I use it on Fedora Core 7 without ill effect, and the RHEL trail the Fedora releases a bit in technology versions).

    hi all ,
    i need to install the db 10g.2 on linux 6 but the system admin say the version 6 on red hat dont support 10g
    is that true ???
    MANY THANKS

    Actually, Linux's release 6 is not yet supported for any release of Oracle and this includes even 11.2. So its better you do the installation on release 5 .

  • AR 9.4.2 CPU usage on older systems (SUSE Linux 10.0)

    Hi,
    in the last few weeks, I spent a lot of time debugging AR eating 100% CPU on a very old system (it is based on SL 10.0 and can't be upgraded easily).
    The steps to reproduce the problem:
    - install SUSE Linux 10.0 (VERY old...). It is OK with all newer SUSE distros though.
    - install AdbeRdr9.4.2-1_i486linux_enu.tar.bz2
    Run it.
    CPU goes immediatelly to 100%, with empty Reader, no document.
    Reader is heavily communicating with X server, which can be seen with xmon tool (ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib/devel_tools/xmon.1.5.4.tar.gz).
    I can workaround the problem by:
    - get libs (/opt/gnome/lib, /lib and /usr/ib) from a bit newer distro (10.1 in my case)
    - add them to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, therefore calling the Reader by:
    /ROOT-10.1/lib/ld-linux.so.2 ./acroread
    in the intellinux directory.
    This workaround is not proper workaround because the Reader itself can't print afterwards and other similar external tasks.
    But the workaround is enough to show that Adobe Reader is very CPU intensive on SUSE 10.0.
    Can you fix it?
    xmon debug output contains MANY:

    Hello,
    I'm currently studying document E54272-01 (Oracle® Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications
    12c (12.1.3) September 2014) in order to install Fusion Middleware 12c products on a Oracle Linux 7 server.
    The "Linux Operating System Requirements" section doesn't include Oracle Linux 7 system requirements, does it mean Fusion Middleware 12c products are not yet certified for OL7?
    PS : I'm unable to find a pdf version of E54272-01 document, if anybody has the URL, I'll appreciate.

    Daniel,
    The compatibility matrix for 12.1.3 can be found here:

    As you will see, for now only Oracle Linux 5 and 6 are compatible.

  • Installation: Oracle 10g on SUSE Linux 10.1

    Can this be? I sat for hours preparing my all new clean SUSE Linux 10.1 server for the installation of Oracle 10g (Standard Edition)... and when running the installer it simply tells me that SUSE 9 is needed...
    I've found others here in the forum having experienced the same.
    Maybe I just downloaded the wrong version of Oracle?
    The main download page is at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html
    I selected entry "Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Linux x86" (the one directly below the Windows version):
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201linuxsoft.html
    The size of the file^^ is 668,734,007 bytes.
    Or should i have downloaded entry "Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2) for z/Linux":
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10202zlinuxsoft.html
    The size of the file^^ is 838,518,746 bytes.
    By the way, all these versions on the main page should have some kind of description, something like "This is the Linux Version for most standard 32Bit single and multiprocessor Intel compatible servers."
    Well, since I'm completely stuck now with SUSE 10.1, is there any way to make the Oracle installer go on that SUSE version? Maybe SUSE can pretend to be version 9... but how do I achieve something freaky as this?
    Thanks for any help, comments, suggestions...
    Karsten

    BTW, I think it's bad practice by Oracle not supporting SUSE 10.1.Actually, I think it is good practise for Oracle not to certify the public beta versions of an operating system.
    Please remember that Fedora and SuSE Linux are cycled every 6-8 months, making then truly unstable for commercial purposes. IN addition, they are often desupported by the comminuty within 2-3 years, forcing upgrades. And finally, Both Red Hat and SuSE/Novell publically state that these are 'proving grounds for new features' (meaning they are beta).
    Certification means that Oracle will invest heavily and train people on the specific operating system and work with the operating system supplier, 24x7 if needed, to make sure that customers will continue in production. I am not aware that the SuSE Linux or Fedora supporters are willing to put in 24x7 support they way the Red Hat and SuSE Enterprise groups are.
    This does not imply the public OSs are bad. It just means that Oracle (and I) believe they are unsuited for commercial, business mission critical, immediate support required, environments.
    By the way, I have the combination of Oracle10g and SuSE Linux 10.1 working, and it works well. However, I did need to make sure that the libraries to which Oracle10g was compiled are available in the OS.
    Or maybe Sybase does better.... ;-pNot if the [glibc] libraries are incompatible. Nor does PostgreSQL nor MySQL.

  • Problems with a thread that records dvd on suse linux

    PLEASE HELP
    I am using SuSE linux, and I record dvd+/- RW with the program growisofs.
    By command line on the linux shell, growisofs records normally, but when I try to use the same line cone that I use in the shell in a java thread, it never stops recording, I mean, it records all data, but it apparently does not close the dvd session, for the grenn light on the drive never stops blinking, and I have to stop the proccess manually, because it never releases the dvd drive.
    I use the thread in a large program, but for debugging this I have made a simple program, whose error is the same.
    the code is:
            String s = "/usr/local/bin/growisofs -speed=1 -M /dev/dvdram  -V MIS27 -A growisofs -P MedImServer " +
               " -p MedImServer -sysid Linux -J -R -l -relaxed-filenames -allow-lowercase -allow-multidot  /windows/C/online";
           Process p;
                try {
                    p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(s);
                    p.waitFor();
                catch (IOException ex) {
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"erro no runtime");
                    System.exit(0);
                catch (InterruptedException ex1) {
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"erro no waitfor");
                    System.exit(0);
                }with JBuilder 9 debug, I realized that it freezes at the moment of "p.waitFor()".
    I thought that it was a problem with the recording software, but it is not: the same command line that I use in the program I have used in the Linux shell and it recorded perfectly. The program does not require any user interaction but the command line I wrote before. The problem with the Java program is that it records all data, but never returns from the process. It's not a problem with the software, for it records perfectly when it's not called within the Java program, so I imagine that it is some funny thing in either the Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...) or the p.wait().
    Better yet:
    Is there a way to record dvds with a java command instead with an exteranal program?
    This would be the heaven...
    IF it is possible, do it require some sun package?
    Thans

    I tried to execute it, and it indeed doesn't freeze, but it doesn't record a thing either...
    now it doesn't even wait for the thread, which is VERY weird: it does not record a thing!!! It just passes by the line 'p.waitFor()'...
    Any sugestion?
    By the way, thanks for helping me...
