Nexus galaxy

I am having problems with the samsung nexus galaxy. It keeps resetting and I cannot do much. Every once in a while I can do something before it resets. Any ideas? Also when it resets, it resets to friday dec 31st at 4pm and it is only dec 27 like 10pm. please help

Hi Shortay175, welcome to the community! I understand that can be extremely frustrating to have your phone constantly shut off constantly. Is the phone powering off after using any certain applications or tasks? As Wildman suggested, if any applications transferred over from your previous phone, they may not be compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich. Try removing any recently installed applications, especially any that have transferred over from your previous device.
If you are still having issues, boot your phone into safe mode. This disables third party applications to see if one may be causing the issue. If the issue is resolved in safe mode, keep removing applications until issue resolved. If the issue is not happening in safe mode, I suggest a factory reset. This will erase all data on the device and reset it to the factory default settings. Before doing this, make sure your contacts, pictures & videos are backed up. For pictures & videos, you will need to connect to your computer to back them up. Also, to make sure the issue doesn't occur again, please go to Settings, Backup & Reset and uncheck Back up my data and Automatic restore. This will prevent the same applications from being automatically re-downloaded.

I use Evernote from the Android Market. It's an awesome app. You can take snapshots of things you want to remember from directly in the app, make notes of hyperlinks, quotes, checklists, etc. Plus, you can access Evernote from anywhere you have internet access. I do this a lot when I am at work and I come across a non-work related article I want to read later. I just open up Evernote in the browser, log in, create a note with a link to the article, and check it out later. This app has become essential to organizing/remembering my life!

Why does my Nexus Galaxy turn off during sleep mode?

I can't put my phone is sleep mode for longer then 10 seconds and it will shut off and I can't upgrade till next year any advice?

I can understand how you feel about having issues with your phone Elisa292005, especially power cycling and features not functioning properly. I know upgrading may fix the issue but we would like to fix the problem first. The information that Ann154 provided was great. Safe mode can tell you if an application is causing the problem and that you should remove it quickly. I also would like to know if the phone id damaged? How long have you had this issue? If you are unable to upgrade, we have many other options that may work for you. First, do you have insurance? Secondly, if you don't have insurance, take a look at this option for replacing your phone http://vz.to/16vfYHl . Lastly, please check to ensure you have the most updated software. Is this the start... Verizon is blocking Google Wallet which is very nice, and you probably don't know they are creating their own Verizon Wallet

I have been with this company for over 10 years and frankly I always overlooked one thing wasn't to keen on and that was some of the services Verizon offered on their website which many of the account related services they have as apps so you can view from your phone are good and useful. I have been an Android user since the first Moto Droid to the Incredible and Inc2, then I though I was gonna go iphone, until I was able to use one for a month. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad it was my brothers 4G on another network when he upgraded to the 4GS. Anyway no real problems other than Android just has more to offer so I went with the Nexus Galaxy and stayed with Verizon, after I was flipping a coin to go to Sprint. Anyway the reason I am leaving Verizon is due to their attempt to create apps to try to compete with googles apps and Verizon charges... you can find most for free from the droid market(which is the Play store now) such as Navigation. The free Google Nav is awesome, I also have google voice(free) so I get text messages emailed to me and vmails emailed and texted to me as well as being able to listen straight from phone by pushing play by the missed call. Verizon continutes to create these apps that also cost money and aren't near as good. I actually feel bad for the people who think the VZ nav is in fact the google nav. Now they are blocking a new service of Google's called Google Wallet. It's free and really cool, but Verizon blocks you from installing it or using it and Verizon is spending over a 100,000,000 dollars to create their own Wallet APP that i'm sure won't be free. So it's not that one app as to why I am leaving, its a number of things that as an experienced user and add the fact that I work in the tech industry, in sales that I Verizon taking advantage of customers, and I don't work that way or like it. Okay you go buy a verizon phone, it will have the VZ Nav right there on the home screen, however there will be no google Nav, and for newbies they usually think this is the navigation everyone talks about. You have to go download the Google Maps which is a turn by turn navigation always up to date and is awesome. I watch my kid driving down the road at all times for free. My point is now that their blocking Google Wallet because they are creating there own wallet, which won't be as good, and probably cost money to even spend money meaning they will charge for it. What is the next brilliant thing that Google comes out with that you can intergrate into your Google services. So what is the point of trying to compete with Google on apps, I mean the Verizon wallet? Why it makes no sense. Why block an app thus not giving you the luxery. They have their reasons of course such as security, and other reasons that it could cause problems but, hey if you dare to spend the outrageous amount of money to activate your hostspot to connect your computer wirelessly in a park. 75% of the people who do this are going to be on an unsecured network that anyone can connect to even with security turned on. So they say there worried about security on the wallet app, because someone may cold get access to your small amount that most people keep on the google wallet but the wireless hotspot is putting much more that money out there. it's putting personal things and files on your computer out there. I just dont' get why they can't provide their songs and ring tones and apps that allow you to see you data usage and leave the apps for the Google market. For you who don't know please download google maps and you will have an awesome navivation. Also google talk, voice, chat, and there apps on the google market for free such as a punch clock for time. I saw one for over $14 on the verison app store. So stick to what you are good at ,and don't block apps that other companies aren't blocking including at&T now, and they were in on the $100,000,000 to create this app along with Tmoblie and Verizon. I use an android because of the capapbilites that google gives you, and the apps that they offer for free or no money. Go look in the Verizon apps and see how much you will pay. Most that cost money come preinstalled on your phone so all you have to do is use it and you start getting charged. This is a 3 year decision making. I don't like that people can easily get charged for services without even knowing just because the app was installed and they used it once. Just stay with what your good at and let the android users rightly use the google apps. After all Google Saved your business if you really want to think about it. Will apple devices get adobe flash soon?

Hi, I was just wondering why adobe isn't on apple devices and how it would be very useful to have in the next update, or in the future, will there be adobe on apple devices in the future? Thanks for any help :)

I have installed this on my KitKat Nexus, Galaxy Note 3, and my brand new Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
So far not a single problem.
I wouldnt listen to much to the flash is dying crowd, if it's important to you, find a way to get what you want, don't be like Jim and hold onto a device for 7 years hoping one day it will no longer be limited. By that time the device is long in the trash anyway.
Just buy what works today, if the flash is dead future ever comes, then we can stop worrying about flash, and use any device we want, even ones as limited as Apple's. But untill then, when it works, and is needed, why fight over it. Just get a device that runs it.

Crazy Textfield Bug on GPU with softkeyboardbehavior - Android only

Im am encountering a very weird bug on Android only (i think every android device, as I've tested, Droid Bionic, Galaxy S3, Nexus, Galaxy Tab)
In my -app.xml, i have .
<renderMode>gpu</renderMode>
<softKeyboardBehavior>pan</softKeyboardBehavior>
in my application, i have many textfields. When i give focus to a textfield, it does correctly and pans up as it should. Once the softkeyboard hides is when all the craziness starts happening....
Everywhere I now click inside my application, AIR thinks I'm clicking about 30-40 pixels below that. Every rollover/ textfield/ anything interactive, will only respond if I touch 30-40 pixels above the actual hit area.
It's like somehow, when the application did the "pan", the distance that it panned is now the distance I have to put my finger above each button to interact with it.
This does not happen if I change it to
<softKeyboardBehavior>none</softKeyboardBehavior>
but now I dont get the panning....
This only happens in GPU mode, in CPU mode, using none or pan works correctly as expected.

I think I determined the source of the bug, and how you can replicate it without flaw.
The key to the bug is the "Android Back Button" once the keyboard has been raised.
Here's how to replicate:
Run the app
Turn it to an orientation where at least 1 of the textfields would be below where the softkeyboard would raise.
Click on that textfield to raise the softkeyboard.
Do no click another textfield and do not click on the stage to lower the keyboard. Instead click the "android back button" to lower the keyboard. Now try to press any of the textfields to raise the keyboard... no luck...now your locked.

Hello,
Doe anyone know wich phones are coming up for verizon the next few months? i dont like the current phones very much. I like to have the iphone but i am worried about that it is only 3G. The 4G phones dont look very appealing to me. I like to have the samsung galaxy 2. Is that one coming to verizon?

Flash Builder: Can't export apps to Android 4.3 device

Flash Builder Problem: Can't export apps to my Android device now that it was upgrade to Android 4.3
I just installed Android 4.3 and all the problems started. Everything was working great with 4.2.2.
Is this a know issue? I can't even build a simple Hello World mobile app.
Also some of my previously installed Flex apps will not run on my 4.3 device. Some old apps do
run and this is very confusing as all where created with Flash Builder 4.7 and Air 3.7.
Does Air 3.8 resolve this issue?
My system:
Mac Flash Builder 4.7 with Air 3.7

My Nexus 7 Android 4.3 developer options setting:
1- USB debugging (checked ON)
2- Verify apps over USB (checked ON)
My steps:
1- built a very basic Hello World mobile app in Flash Builder 4.7 with Air 3.7
2- Select Debug As…
3- Flash Builder starts as normal
4- I normally see (in the bottom right hand ) Launching 6% - 57%, then it launches the app on the device.
5- With 4.3 I see the following Launching 6% - 57% - 58% …. 100%
6- Now I get a dialog box that says "The Flash Builder debugger failed to connect …."
I have a Nexus Galaxy phone running 4.2.2, and this same Hello World works perfectly.

I have my upgrade availble can't purchase till right after the new year. I'm looking at a couple devices which one to pick. please give pros and cons and which u think best . I'm looking at , Charge: long battery life , Bionic: had big hype but not sure with reading forums, Razr: slick but hear low battery life not sure about the no remove battery, or ofcourse the new nexus : galaxy device, but hear short battery life and low camera . right now I have the droid a855. I'll be purchasing January 7th will keep people posted .

Because of the way that you asked the original question, I would recommend the HTC Rezound. Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of Motorola phones. I love the Galaxy Nexus, but think that if you have to ask, it may not be the phone for you.
Looking at the Galaxy Nexus forum on here, and any other for that matter, how you use your phone is important in determining which phone is better for you. I would say that if using the phone as a "phone" is important to you, you either want to go with the Rezound now, or wait to see if any of the reception issues that people are having on the Galaxy Nexus are resolved. Also, if you use the speakerphone a lot, scratch the Galaxy Nexus off of your list!
The other drawback for the Galaxy Nexus would be the camera. Without seeing the pictures, I would still bet that the other three phones on your list are better than the Galaxy Nexus when it comes to picture quality.
Summary of the best (based on other's opinions except for SGN):
Android Experience: Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Audio quality: HTC Rezound
Looks: Motorola RAZR

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2 Update

When will Verizon approve the Android 4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus? The slowness of Verizon to approve updates is inexcusable! And to that I'll say, "I'm done!" I am so disgusted with Verizon and their inability to provide updates to what is supposed to be a "Nexus" device. It's not like they have to manipulate around manufacturer software. It's pure Google operating system. Load and test the drivers for CDMA and LTE and then launch the update. At the MOST that should take no more than 2 weeks! Since I have had my Nexus on Verizon, I have not recieved a single update prior to 2 months! Android 4.2 update from Android 4.1 is so miniscule and, might I add, required no additional new drivers, so what is the hold up Verizon? Where is the Android 4.2 update? And, yeah, I know some techy out there is going to say, " well why don't you just jailbreak and load it yourself?" Because I shouldn't HAVE to jailbreak my phone. It's not a matter of can I do it, it's why can't I do it without jailbreaking from Verizon? They sold this phone initially by claiming it to be a "pure Nexus" device and it's been nothing of the kind ever since! So I say, "I'm done!" That means that when my contract is up, I'm return to AT&T! They have upgraded the towers in the area that I live and my friends on AT&T say their signals are even better than Verizon's. AT&T's new LTE towers download at faster speeds than Verizon's too. I would have happily stayed with Verizon if they would have only taken the Pure Nexus experience seriously!
To those who have stated that I've said this for Jelly Bean 4.1, you are correct! The only reason I'm still here is because of the hefty penalty Verizon will charge me for terminating my contract early. My contract doesn't expire until December 2013 so it would be a rather hefty penalty to pay. But Android 4.2 has confirmed that Verizon refuses to change their position on slow updates, so when my contract is up (as I believe I stated on 4.1), you won't see REDNIBKRAM on Verizon anymore!
It appears as though the Verizon "love freaks" just can't seem to get the message. I'm not saying that the updates aren't difficult, I'm saying that if Verizon chooses to use CDMA technology over GSM and that requires them to jump through hoops to get updates completed, then they should have NEVER agreed to carry a "pure Nexus" device, or at the very least, should have NEVER advertised the device as such. My whole point is that Verizon LIED TO ME and told me that my phone was a "pure Nexus" device when I purchased it and switched from a GSM phone company (AT&T) when, in fact, they knew that I would NOT be getting updates directly from Google as the GSM versions of the SGN do. At the very least, if Verizon really wanted to make this right, they would offer to allow anyone with a SGN phone who was lied to when they purchased it to exit from their existing contract without penalty, so we can purchase a "TRUELY PURE NEXUS" phone direct from Google or provide us with a choice of another phone (Windows Phone, iPhone, etc.) without having to renew a 2 year contract.
All I'm saying is that if Verizon won't or can't update the phones they themselves advertised as a "pure Nexus" phone, then they should make it right to the people they lied to.

I didn't go back to AT&T for JB in August because the of VERY HEFTY penalty I will have to pay for cancelling my contract early and I got the Android 4.1 JB update. Once I received the update and because the the penalty, I decided to give BIGRED another change at the next update. I thought, "maybe it was such a huge update that they really needed to make sure everything was done right." So, now here we are waiting for the 4.2.1 update and I'm still getting the same response from BIGRED as I got for JB 4.0 update. It's quite clear that VZ DOESN'T CARE about customer satisfaction. They use the excuse that they want their network to be the best and they want their phones to operate with little or no problems, yet when problems ARE discovered, it takes them months to send out the updates that Google has already released months prior. I have discussed updates with Verizon, Google and Samsung support personnel. I have even contacted Verizon Corporate and I fully understand the process by which updates are done, and believe me when I say that the update process at VZ is in serious need of restructuring. Especially when it comes to Android devices. But as far as this Android 4.2.1 update is concerned, I have spoken with Google and they have informed me that there was NO changes made to the operating system that would affect the CDMA or LTE drivers on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, so there should be no reason why Verizon would not want to release the update. The small changes (additions) to the operating system would in no way affect the communications on VZ. So why hasn't VZ released this update yet. Corporate says they need to test the software to ensure it doesn't affect communications on their network, yet Google hasn't changed anything in the operating system that would, so what are they testing? VZ may have the better network, but CARRIER EXPERIENCE ISN'T ALL ABOUT THE BEST CONNECTION. It's about customer SATISFACTION and not receiving updates on a pure NEXUS device in a timely manner is inexcusable and in NO WAY SATISFYING! So when my contract is up, I will be returning to AT&T or giving T-Mobile a try on a pure Nexus device with no contract!

Verizon galaxy nexus-music skips and static when screen is off..

What i do is download videos using youtube
downloader and convert them into mp3. Then i connect my phone to the laptop with
the usb cable. I open my computer-galaxy nexus-music, and i drag the saved mp3
from my laptop to my phone. When i disconnect the phone,I open the music app and
I listen to my music and it sounds fine when the screen is on. When the screen
is Off the music starts to skip a little and i hear static with or without
headphones. Now i used the same procedure when i load music from my laptop with
other mp3 devices and ipods and the music sounds good when the screen is on or
off with those devices. I downloaded a song from the android market and amazon,
stored it and downloaded to my phone for offline play and both songs stutter or
static when screen is off.

From the beginning, I wasn’t too impressed by the Galaxy Nexus. Why? It’s a Samsung. Would I purchase a Samsung for a basic phone? Sure, but when it comes to “top of the line” smart phones, Samsung wouldn’t be my first, second or even third choice. Now, don’t get me wrong, I contemplating parting with 299.99 to purchase the Nexus. The ics appeal outweigh some of my skepticism.. but before I buy a phone, I sit on review boards, cnet reviews, youtube reviews, etc. etc. In addition, it’s hard to trust a new phone of its kind. All the kinks (clearly) haven’t been ironed out. I, like Rushfan2112 went with the Rezound. And I LOVE it.
But do I think the Nexus is a “poor” phone? Na. Not by a long shot. Does VZW hinder the devices full potential? Of course – but we as Verizon customers should already know this – they proved so with the Iphones. Moreover, I’m a bit confused by the lack of update to the OS as well. This phone was specifically designed and released. It’s not as if we’re waiting for a complete OS change like HTC Rezound, Rhyme, & Motorola Bionic, 4 and Razr customers are. I understand that takes time because the OS has to be modified for each device. But the Nexus started with ICS, the ambiguity in the software updates is ridiculous….

Bought my Galaxy Nexus in April of 2012, along with insurance on the phone. Love the phone and the pure Android experience. However, back in February, I woke up one morning and noticed that even though my phone was plugged in, the battery was not charging. I tried using different cords and my spare battery, neither fixed the issue, which meant that the charging port on the phone was defective. I brought it to a VZW store, and since the issue occurred within a year of purchasing the phone, they sent me a certified pre-owned galaxy nexus as a replacement (They had to send me three replacement phones total because the first two would not boot properly, but that's a different story.)
So here I am, 5 months later, and I woke up one morning and discover the same issue. Phone is plugged in (using the original charger that come with the original phone by the way), but it is not charging. Won't charge with a different cord, won't charge with a different battery, which means that the port is defective. I take the phone to the Verizon store, and am informed that A) my year-long warranty has run out, so if I want to replace the phone I will have to pay full retail price for it, and B) The default insurance plan on these phones only covers cracked screens or lost devices. The VZW support rep actually suggested that I damage the screen on the phone before sending it to the insurance company, because otherwise they would send it back and refuse to replace it.
So to recap, Verizon sold me a defective device, replaced it with another defective device, and now in order to fulfill the remaining nine months of my contract with them, I will have to purchase another device at full retail value. That's $600-$700 I'm expected to pay just to continue adhering to the terms of my contract. For now, I went on amazon and bought an external battery charger which I now have to carry with me at all times, which is an unacceptable solution for the next nine months. Surely there has to be a better option?

This is the same problem I had in the past and Samsung fixed the phone
under warranty. Since a warranty is only 1 year and not the length of the
contract it doesn't help anymore. I do not have insurance and the phone
has never been wet. I have to wiggle the port or reset something on the
connect to have it charge properly. Verizon was unwilling to help me the
last time I had this issue since I purchased the phone new from Amazon. I
would appreciate it if you could help.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus LTE and the iPad

I had Unlimited Data on my VZW account and I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus (which uses a microSIM)
Would I be able to pop my Nexus sim into the iPad and start using the data from my VZW account on my iPad?
I've swapped SIM's with other 4G phones (Thunderbolt SIM with a MiFi). I get service disruption ocassionaly but a quick reboot fixes it.
I assume that the disruption is caused by software issues on the MiFi or Verizon's LTE service.

Certainly not going to renew with Verizon and I'm in the same boat about jumping ship early. Depending on the prices, specs, and manufactures of the next crop of Nexus devices will determine if and when I jump ship early. Never again will I be on a cellular contract or use a locked phone. Verizon may claim to have the best network, but the other networks are not nearly as bad as Verizon's handling of the Nexus. The ** about the delays be caused by "extensive" testing sure did a lot of good for the Nexus. Shortly after launch day OTA for bug fixes and then 4.0.4 delayed for 5 months just to get a somewhat more usable radio set. At least if a straight from Google Nexus has an issue you can expect it to be fixed in days or weeks, not months.
