Nexus personal - BankID software

I submitted this package to aur and since it is my first time i would appreciate any help, suggestions, etc, etc...
It is a security program used widely in sweden to log in on various web pages.
It seems to install well on some computers and not so well on others. I dont know why.
Edit: oops, forgot to link to the aur page: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33976

I think you need to add zip,
at least that's what was missing (when i installed it manually) on my machine.
Before I had zip installed, the program seemed to work fine until i tried to add an account (is that the right word in english?) which disappeared (the account that is) after I entered a password.
You can enable logging on nexus personal by editing ~/.personal/config/Personal.cfg and adding the following:
[Diagnostics]
Trace=/directory-you-want-the-log-in

  • Use Nexus Personal ("BankID") with Firefox without installing it

I will describe how to utilize Nexus Personal as a plugin for Firefox without installing the package from AUR or running the installation script that comes with the program.
And why would I do that? Firstly; the root partition on the system that I use has very limited space. If the files that are used for Nexus Personal are located elsewhere (like my home folder, on another harddrive) it will free up some valuable space. Secondly; to keep an record of the procedure. If I ever must repeat the process I can check back at this reference. Thirdly; upgrading should be trivial and just a matter of copying the new version of the program to a certain folder. Lastly; maybe someone else might also benefit from this.
Download and unpack the files and place the folder where you want the program to be (e.g. /home/kalle/Applications/nexus/)¹. Make sure that the files persadm and personal.bin have permission to be executed.
Let Firefox know where the plugin is located by creating a symbolic link in the Firefox plugins folder to the file libplugins.so by running the command sudo ln -s /home/kalle/Applications/nexus/libplugins.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libplugins.so
Copy the shell script² personal.sh to folder /usr/local/bin/ by running the command: sudo cp /home/kalle/Applications/nexus/personal.sh /usr/local/bin/personal.³
Now, open the copy with a text editor and change the two lines to point at the program folder (this should be obvious).
Make a symbolic link to the program folder in /usr/local/lib/ with the command: sudo ln -s /home/kalle/Applications/nexus/ /usr/local/lib/personal
Open the file /etc/ld.so.conf in a text editor and add a line with the path of the program folder⁴. Finally, run the command sudo ldconfig.⁵
Once you start Firefox the plugin should be recognized and operational (hopefully).
    For those who don't know:
Nexus Personal, or "BankID", is a proprietary program that can be used as a method for personal identification, and is used on the websites of various Swedish authorities, banks, etc.
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to be writing this, but I couldn't think of any other.
    Clarifications:
¹: where "kalle" should be your username. You can put the program folder with the extracted files wherever you want, though. /home/kalle/Applications/nexus/ is just a mere example.
²: located among the extracted files.
³: notice the slight difference in the name (the copy should not have an extension).
⁴: the line should contain just "/home/kalle/Applications/nexus/"
⁵: this seems to be required to do in order to make the plugin find its required libraries that comes with the program.
    General tips for troubleshooting:
Invoking the command ldd can be used to check if the plugin executables has their required libraries set up correctly.
In Firefox you can also write about:plugins in the address bar in order to see if the browser is following the symbolic link that is located in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/.

Is there a good apple based alternative to the persona finance software program "quicken for mac"?  It is a poorly supported program.

I switched from Quicken on a Windows computer to iBank on a Mac. It is a very good program, has very good free download connections to financial institutions (optional), and very good reports. The only negative is that it is just different enough from Quicken that there is a learning curve and the first month or two were frustrating -- but that is likely true of anything that you might change to. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

  • What is the Best personal finance software for mac?

I was a quicken user years ago but they don't seem to have an updated version. Any suggestions?

Updated for what?  Home accounting principles are pretty much the same now as they were in 2007: Quicken 2007 for Intel (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks) for $15 here:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/quicken-2007-osx-lion.jsp
I would still be using my Quicken Deluxe 2002 if it did not require Rosetta, which is no longer included in OS X since Lion.

Quicken for Mac 2007 works just fine (and is said to be compatible with Mavericks).  It is often denounced for not being "modern", but when something works, and does everything I want, I need a good reason to switch.
A few years ago (2011), I got that reason when I upgraded OSX and Quicken stopped working due to the absence of Rosetta.  I switched to iBank.  I used it for more than a year.  It was cumbersome, they have no sense of a helpful user interface, but it "works".  I found ONE feature that I liked:  you can attach an image (or any file) to a register entry, so I can save receipts right with the register.
But when Intuit came out with the revised Quicken 2007 for Mountain Lion, I gladly went back.  I found that being able to update stock prices right in the portfolio view (for those not automatically found online) was handy - in iBank you have to generate a report to see the holdings, and then you have to switch to a view of "Securities" then scroll down through that list to find your stock, then "edit" then change the price, then "Save" then go back to reports and re-generate the portfolio view.  Also, if you enter a stock purchase in a Quicken register, the price you paid gets added to the price history for the stock (as of the date of the transaction).  No such help in iBank.  Most of the helpful UI features (like increasing the date with the + key) are glaringly missing in iBank.  I find I am getting no more than about 3-4 keystrokes before having to move the mouse and click.
If you are considering sharing the app on an iPad, Quicken won't work, but I found that iBank for iPad doesn't work either.  The interface is completely different from the Mac version, you can't do much with it, and if you have a stock whose price is $11.25 / share and sell 200 shares, you might find that $22.50 gets added to your cash in the account.  (I actually made a few million dollars when it decided that 200 shares at $11.25  yielded $2,250,000.)  Luckly, I received a refund for that app.
Depending on how the Mavericks switch goes, I hope to be able to stick with Quicken, but I am keeping my records up-to-date in both now, because I can live with iBank.  I will just have to keep an eye on its arithmetic.

  • I am using Quicken Personal Finance Software 2007 for Mac

I am using Quicken Personal Finance Software on my Mac.  I am running updated Mountain Lion.  I entered all my information and brought my accounts all up to date.  I quit Quicken and opened it again a couple days later and all information I entered was missing.  This has happened 3 times now over the past 3 months, and each time I go back to November 2011 and re-enter ll the deposit, debits and reconcile. Each time when I reopen Quicken all information is back to 2011. Can anyone help me?

I can't see on their website that they have made a Mountain Lion compatible version, only Lion:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/lion-compatible-quicken-mac-2007/GEN83769 .html
But this does say they expect it to be compatible:

  • What personal finance software works best with MacBook Air

My Quicken has crashed out and lost data one time too many.  What is the best Apple friendly personal finance software to use with a MacBook?

One that I like and which has very similar capabilities to Quicken is iBank. It took me a couple of months to adopt to how they do things (after many years of using Quicken on a PC) but now I would never go back. They have a 30 day free trial also. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

Good question! When I looked this time last year on changing from PC to Mac there did not appear to be a Mac version. Either I missed something or things have changed.....

  • Is there a really good personal Financial software program for the iMac?

Looking for a very good Personal Finance software for the iMac?

I use iBank 5 and I've been quite happy with it. My needs are fairly modest, though, when it comes to that. All I really wanted was something to sync transactions between my Mac and iPhone to track checking accounts for day to day purchases.
I manage my portfolio separately the "old fashioned" way.
I don't know how it compares to the Windows version of Quicken, but there is a Mac version of Quicken (Quicken 2015) available in the app store.

  • Personal Wiki Software Recommendations?

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some kind of personal wiki software that:
    1. Allows me to edit it using vim
    2. Supports typesetting mathematical equations
Apps like Zim and Wikidpad have LaTeX plugins that take care of the second issue, but seem to lock me into using their editor. There are a couple of great vim plugins like vim-wiki and viki, but (as far as I can tell) they don't have any kind of math markup environment.
Any ideas? Or am I looking in the wrong direction?
    Thanks!

Dokuwiki is lightweight, has latex plugin and you can edit files directly. But if you do so, you loose history feature, so probably not what you are looking for.

  • Firefox crashes when I try to login using BankID (Nexus Personal v4.10.4 online). This problem started when I upgraded from Firefox 3.6 to 4.0

The application used to work with previous versions of Firefox. I'm totally dependent on being able to login to my bank, or use the application for other identification, so if there is no solution to this problem I will be forced to uninstall or use other browsers.
    Best Regards,
    Staffan

I had the same problem. When downloading something the window with the save location got stuck when I press Save or Cancel. I've uninstall Firefox completely, did some registry and PC cleans, reinstall Firefox, but the problem stood. Soon after I decided to restart my PC, and THAT solved the problem. I often put my Laptop on hibernate, maybe that cause the problem, but accidentally I guess, cause now I use hibernation again and have no problem. Now I can save any download to any location. Perhaps it is something from the OS (I have XP64) which affected Firefox in some way. So an OS Restart solved my problem. I see that Firefox IS NOT the problem... yet, but who knows... Hope this will help too...

  • What's the best personal finance software for mac?

Any recommendations for personal finance tracking/reporting software?
I've used Quicken and Bento but wonder if there isn't some easier way to keep track of credit cards, cash, income, checks, etc.
    Thanks.

Some often recommended include iBank (which I use and am quite satisfied with), MoneyDance and, if your needs are very modest, Quicken Essentials. Intuit has promised a version of Quicken 2007 that will run under Lion sometime this spring, but I've not seen any more specific date.
    Regards.

  • Personal Financial Software

HELLO: Tried to find info on the forum about this and received ZERO returns, SO, I decided to ask away.
What would be a very easy-to-use software package to track 3 different checkbook accounts that will
give me year end reports to take to my accountant?
Using MacMini with OS X 10.9.5, & 4GB of Ram  -  so I think that should probably handle any proposed packages.
I'm not sure this goes into this Forum, but, could find nothing closer to the subject.
    JG

Thanks! I just ASSUMED that the "Update" area was for just exactly that. It has been a long time since I've even accessed the Apple site with a log-in.
I did go there an did find many different entries for Personal Finance Apps.
I'm not finished doing my research yet, but, I want to thank you again for the information.

  • Personal Accounting Software

Is there a personal accounting, home budgeting software package available that will run on a Mac desktop but will also integrate with iPad2 ?

Go to the Mac App store and begin looking, there are many apps available. You just have to find one that suits your needs the best. If you don't find one in the store then use Google to search for apps, they're out there.
