Nexus7009 Howto Install NON NPE NX-OS on NPE installed system

I bought 2 SUP2Es; they are factory installed with
Software
  BIOS:      version 2.11.0
  kickstart: version 6.2(2)
  system:    version 6.2(2)
  BIOS compile time:       01/09/2013
  kickstart image file is: bootflash:///n7000-s2-kickstart-npe.6.2.2.bin
  kickstart compile time:  7/9/2013 20:00:00 [08/14/2013 07:51:20]
  system image file is:    bootflash:///n7000-s2-dk9-npe.6.2.2.bin
  system compile time:     7/9/2013 20:00:00 [08/14/2013 10:27:51]
I want to upgrade the system to NX-OS
6.2(2a )
n7000-s2-dk9.6.2.2a.bin
Using the following command I get an error message
switch# install all kickstart bootflash:n7000-s2-kickstart.6.2.2a.bin system bootflash:n7000-s2-dk9.6.2.2a.bin
Installer will perform compatibility check first. Please wait.
Verifying image bootflash:/n7000-s2-kickstart.6.2.2a.bin for boot variable "kickstart".
[####################] 100% -- SUCCESS
Verifying image bootflash:/n7000-s2-dk9.6.2.2a.bin for boot variable "system".
[#                   ]   0% -- FAIL.
Return code 0x40930077 (Install is not supported between NPE and non-NPE system image).
Pre-upgrade check failed. Return code 0x40930011 (Image verification failed).
HOW CAN I CHANGE TO NON NPE Softwareversion ?
Thanks in advance
Manfred

Hi Manfred,
Please try and change the boot variables, "copy run start" and reload the device. They are located toward the bottom of the configuration. Let me know if that resolves the situation.
Thanks

  • HowTo install archlinux to a far away server?

HowTo install archlinux to a far away server?
    or what about Archbootstrap?
I have a server far away from me with software raid on it.
It is running a different distro and i want to install archlinux on it.
I was thinging to break the sw raid and use something like archbootstrap.
I could install archlinux to one hard disk, fix the network and then
add a new grub entry and reboot. Then i could rebuild the sf raid and configure
my new archlinux server as i want.
I've tried archbootstrap to my PC first and try to install archlinux to a different partition
(same logic to want i need to do). I found some trouble, I even hack a little the script
to fix some initial problems but i cant find a way to run it correctly.
Is there another way? Can someone point me to a direction?
PS: i've already looked up the forum and wiki - couldnt find anything useful (yet).

With pacman-static from the French mirror and small fixes worked perfectly
Unfortunately i couldnt find an official pacman-static on ftp.archlinux.org
I 've tried to create a pacman-static from the source of pacman - but my efforts werent successful
But in the end i was able to do what i really wanted with one way or another.
    thanks finferflu for hint

    howto install headless desktop mini

Is this going to be a how-to and you just forgot to post the instructions, or did you forget the question mark?
Just plug a monitor into the Mac to set it up as you like, the unplug the monitor when you're done. There are other ways, but that's certainly the easiest.

Could you please someone help me with this?
    Thanks

Sorry to bump this, but I'm having the exact same error tonight on my HTPC, any chance you found out what the problem was ?
To make matters worse, it's not happening every single time, but maybe every 4 out of 5 boots (same kernel, no changes in between.)
I thought this was a kernel issue related to this:
    https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/3/10/359
I've tried adding atkbd and psmouse to my mkinitcpio.conf MODULES section and rebuilt, but no change.
I changed the NVidia driver from nvidia-304xx to nvidia-full-beta-all ( 334.21 ) from AUR but it had the same error at the same place.
Here's the part from `dmesg` where it borks:

  • Cannot install System Update 4 on Thinkpad W520 running Win7 Prof 64

I am having problems installing system update 4. I originally installed it and had the problem with running it and getting the tvsu error message that is addressed in another thread.
I uninstalled it then ran two registry optimizers and reinstalled .Net and now I can't even install it. When I do I get the following:
This setup will perform an upgrade of '!@^'. Do you want to continue? Yes or No.
I click Yes and it runs some more until this pops up:
Error 2753. The File 'startsuservice.exe' is not marked for installation.
Click OK then the installation program finishes but does not complete. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the entire toolbox and that does not work.
    I have a W520 running Win7 64.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. See my answers in bold.

You opened this thread in June 2012, and Now you are back to give us an update.
Slicing and dicing the registry is NOT the solution.  Why not, if you know what you are doing? Guess the MSI installer is not the answer. I would NEVER use a registry cleaner, EVer.  It over cleans. No argument there.
    (1) Does programs and features show System update installed? No IF so try to uninstall.
    (2) Install System Update 5.0.2 and post the results.  Won't install. If it did, what results would I post? Install on top of version 4 and see what happens. SU is not installed. Support of your laptop does NOT show version 4 available for download.
(3)This  system was factory shipped win 7 (released feb 22,2011)  did system update ever work out of the box? No.
    (4) What version of . Net installed? v4 3.5 SP 1 is needed. NO need to uninstall/reinstall. You are overworking yourself. Agreed
    ===
You state you used 2 registry cleaners, and from feb 2011  until your June 2012 post, was all well with your system? Yes, a couple of other problems were actually fixed but not this one. Based on all of the experts disdain for these cleaners, I guess I was lucky that they didn't cause more problems.
I would backup your user data and factory install.  No, too much work. See foot, it has a hole in it. ?????
When did you receive this laptop, like before June 2012? purchase date? June, 2011

    Your original post:
I originally installed it and had the problem with running it and getting the tvsu error message that is addressed in another thread.
When did you run registry cleaners?  Approx. between 6/11 and 6/12. After the tvsu error message that is addressed in another thread?  Yes
    ==
Your most recent post referred to a workaround. This involves SU version 5. It wont reinstall, seems SU service (old) pointing to non existent folder.  New SU just released. You are version 4.  So? Any version I try to install fails with the same message.
    ==
I do problem determination on main frames. Been doing it for 30 years.  I did the same early in my career. Gather the facts.  In your case, original, ,  System update msg error. Did something else occur(registry cleaner). Some times the interview points to the most simple solution. Oh, really? The easy fix would be to bypass the point in the install process that is pointing to a previous version that does not exist or find the offending registry entry that is deceiving the install process and delete it.  But I can't do that because I am not a MS/PC software engineer and I can't seem to find one who can help. OH, change parm=0 to parm =1 or install the newer version. Where? Simple. You over killing it.
What I like to call tourist Information...(couch potato), .. so. bottom line,  in June 2012, version 4 SU gave me a error message. That is where we start. That would be nice but no one has ever solved the original problem in this forum.

  • Issue installing System Update 5.01

Hello all I am having an issue installing System update 5.01.  I looked in the logs within the temp directory and it says error 1602 which is user canceled.  However, I am not canceling the install.    I also tried http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall  that didn't work either.
    I'm on a T420 with Windows 7 64bit.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your time

I had similar issues installing 5.01. I believe there is something wrong with the package. Here is how I fixed it:
    Download installer from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=TVSU-UPDATE
    Extract package with 7zip
Copy "Lenovo System Update.msi" to "System Update.msi"
    Run setup.exe
For some reason the installer was looking for this file and it wasn't there, perhaps running the installer in silent/unattended mode caused it to exit with the code you mentioned.
I hope this fixes your problem too!

  • How to install System 7.5.3 on iMac G3

I have an iMac G3 that currently is running Mac OS 9.2. I managed to scrounge up a copy of System 7.5.3 online (it was 19 parts to download). When i opened the installer to install System 7 on my iMac, it showed an alert saying,
"The system software 7.5.3 installer script does not recognize this macintosh. Please use the original disks that came with your computer. The installer cannot update the version of Macintosh System Software on the disk named "^0". Please remove the system."
I have no idea what to do. I do have the original restore disks for my iMac though. Please help me out with this one.

You cannot use 7.53 to start up an iMac G3, as it doesn't contain the resources necessary to start up an iMac. If you need to create a bootable disk for a computer which can start up from 7.53, download and install MachID Wannabe on your machine, restart, and then set the machine ID to 75. Install an universal system on the external drive(this option is available under Custom Install), and then reopen MachID Wannabe and reset your computer's ID. • How to install system 9.1 on second drive of a G4 while running OS 10.5.8 on primary drive

I am Using a G4 OS 10.5.8, trying to install system 9.1 on an erased/reformated disk with system 9 drivers option selected. Can't boot with a 9.1 install disk by holding C key on startup.   When booted with sys 10.5.8 attempting to install sys 9 on the reformatted drive yields error "classic functions are no longer supported"  no luck just copying  the software from the install disk, even though the drive shows up as an available startup drive, it never gets a spinning wheel during startup attempts.
Thinking about reinstalling the original powermac G4 software (there are other partitions or drives available) but trying the path of least resistance first.
    Totally open to suggestions

Since you are running OS X 10.5 (Leopard) on that machine, unless you used one of the unsupported install methods your G4 has a processor that is 867MHz or faster (that's one of the requirements for Leopard).
Assuming that is the case, you will never be able to boot the machine to OS 9.1, or to any retail OS 9 Install CD.
The first G4 which met the 867MHz requirement was the QuickSilver '02 model (only the mid and upper speed units); all G4 MDD models meet that requirement.
All of the preceding which are OS 9 bootable (the G4 MDD FW800 model is not OS 9 bootable) can use only the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 which shipped with them as a bootable OS 9.
The QS '02 models used a stand-alone OS 9.2.2 Install CD, labelled Software Install. Installation of OS 9.2.2 using that is straight-forward - boot the machine to the Software Install CD, and install OS 9.2.2 on the second drive.
The MDD models are a bit different. They came with a combination installer disk, one which booted to OS X but which was capable of also installing OS 9.2.2 (Classic, I think it is referred to in the installer's jargon).
Unfortunately, the installer on those disks seems to have a restriction - it will install OS 9 (Classic) only onto a volume which already has OS X installed on it. So, how to get OS 9-only on the second drive? Two ways -
    A) Install OS 9 (Classic) onto the main drive, then copy it via drag-and-drop onto the second volume. Once placed there and tested for booting, remove the install of it placed on the original drive. Be sure to copy the folders named System Folder, Applications (Mac OS 9), and Documents; if there is a free-standing folder named Utilities, copy that too (it often is placed into the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder).
    Possible issues -
    * since the OS X on the original drive is Leopard, a substantly newer version that that on the OEM disk set, the installer on that disk set may balk at doing this.
    • aliases will be broken by copying the system and support files to the second drive. This can include an alias to Sherlock in the Apple Menu Items folder in System Folder and perhaps one or more in the Application Support folder in System Folder. Alises can be repaired - do a Get Info on an alias, and the Get Info window will display a button which can be used to reconnect the alias to the appropriate original.
    B) Install OS X (the version on the original install CD set) onto the second drive. Then install OS 9 (Classic) onto that drive. Once it has been tested for booting, throw away the OS X system and files from that drive.
Possible issue - deleting OS X can leave behind some invisible files. Unless you are very short on disk space, these should present no problem and can be ignored - OS 9 will not (can not) attempt to use them.

  • Can't boot from System 9 CD and install System 9 over 10.4

    Power Mac G4 450 APG   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   896mb RAM
I got my Mom's old G4 and am trying to set it up for use by my daughter (I like the OS 10 parental controls but not my 6 year old using my PowerBook...)
I did a clean install of System 10.4 and was able to update it to 10.4.8 however since I erased the disk, only System 10 is loaded with no System 9 available for Classic mode. When I try to boot up from a System 9.2.1 installation CD, it will normally not even boot from that CD (I have been able to boot from a System 10 and a Disk Warrior CD).
When I try to boot from the System 9.2.1 CD, the monitor usually shows a blank screen with the mouse arrow (which moves with the mouse). I have to hit the reset button to boot back into 10 or try holding the "C" key down again. I've tried two System 9.2.1 CDs and a System 9.0 CD with no luck.
I've reset the NVRAM, PRAM, PMU etc. I was able to get a System 9.2 boot up screen three times (by hitting the reset button and holding down the "C" key) but the system loads only about half way on the horizontal bar and shows only 3 startup icons on the bottom. It then stops.
I've also tried dragging the "System" file out of "System/Library/CoreServices" to the desk top but that did not help. Found that the system recreated the file back in its proper place.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    (Normally use) PowerBook 15 G4 1.5 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1.5Gb RAM
    PowerBook 15 G4 1.5 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1.5mb RAM

The first line of my original post had: Power Mac G4 450 APG Mac OS X (10.4.8) 896mb RAM. What it did not have was that there was a SCSI card attached to an internal SCSI HD that I pulled out of an old PowerMac9500 (I wanted some of the data and applications on it).
When I pulled out the SCSI card, I was able to boot from the 9.2.1 CD and install System 9 onto one of the ATA drives I had installed (the original 20 gb HD and a 30 gb HD from an old PC). All three drives did show up on the desktop and I had access to all as they were. I just could not boot up from the System 9 CD. Pulling out the SCSI card allowed me to boot from the System 9.2 CD. I don’t know why. I installed System 9 with a clean install (erasing all files on the original 20 gb HD), rebooted into System 9, then updated the firmware successfully. I then loaded System 10.4.8 on the G4.
I now have System 10.4.8 running on the G4 with System 9.2 running in Classic. All three HD’s are working fine. Now if I can only figure out why I can’t hook up an external Ultra SCSI 2 CD-RW but that will be another post.
    Thanks to all,
    DJ

  • Can i install system 7 on a zip drive?

    Hi
I own a Mac plus and i'd like to connect it to the internet. I had a look at a few web browsers, like MacWWW "Samba" but it isn't great. I'd like to try out MacWeb, but it requires system 7. It appears I need to install system 7 on a hard disk to do so. Problem is, I don't have any SCSI hard disk... and they are quite expensive on ebay. So I was wondering, is it possible to install it on a zip drive? They are quite inexpensive and I already have zip disks at home.
I've never hooked one up to a "classic" Mac, so I hope the os recognises it as a drive and not as a floppy. If not, I'm afraid this won't work...
    Thanks,
    Bad Gold Eagle
PS: My Mac has 1Mb of RAM, I've got a copy of 7.1. Is 1Mb enough for the early version of MacWeb (1.1.1E)?

    Hello,
A Zip drive can be connected to a Macintosh Plus. The following web page has further information about this:
    http://www.vintagemacworld.com/pluszip.html
System 7 requires at least 2 MB of RAM. In order to connect a 68000 processor machine to the Internet, you should really have the maximum amount of RAM, though (in this case 4 MB).
An older Internet FAQ could possibly be of interest to you:
    http://www.knubbelmac.de/spiegel/mac-internet-faq-2002-12.html
You may also need access to another appropriate approx. 1991-1997 Macintosh computer (with a floppy drive for both 800K and 1.44 MB) to be used as an intermediary for software downloads.
System 7.1 came on 1.44 MB floppy disks, which cannot be used directly on a Macintosh Plus. A full US System 7.0 on 800K floppy disk images contained in a larger self-mounting image (.smi) is available for download from Apple:

When downloading itunes to my pc, get error message 'Apple mobile device could not be installed - verify you have sufficient privileges to install system services'
i am forced to abort/cancel. Can anyone help please?

Me too. And if someone comes back on here with the same solution of "uninstall and re-install", please provide further advice after you have done that 3 times and the program still has the same problem in addition to the "failure to load the C runtime library" R6034 issue. I have removed itunes 3 times however I do not have permission to remove the program files/apple file and the uninstall doesn't remove it.
    You're not alone buddy.
    Frustrated.

  • Itunes 10.2.2 not installing message is -Service 'ipad service'could not be installed. verify that you have sufficient privelge to install system services . I have windows 7 , am administrator in windows 7, but i have an iphone not an ipad, Hints?

I tunes tries to update over and over again to 10.2.2.  Each time it fails and lists  message"Service 'ipad service'could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privelege to install system services."
I have an iphone and use itunes to update it. I do not have an ipad if that is an issue.  Is this problem related to apple, or to Windows vista?  I am system administrator on Windows 7 so the problem must be related to apple. I would appreciate a clue as to what I need to do. Or are there sufficient problems with 10.2.2 that I should be happy it will not update? This problem is getting beyond annoying since i have work to do other than cater to apple itunes.

I would say it is Windows.
Which are you using btw, Vista or 7?
And did you download the 64-bit version if that is what you run?
There were a lot of tips to troubleshoot (never needed to in 4 yrs though knock on wood).
    Uninstall itunes
    run chckdsk and sfc /scannow
    CCleaner 3.05

It is true that the only way to sync your Mac with iCloud is to upgrad.  You need to be running OS X Lion 10.7.2 or higher in order to sync your Mac with iCloud.  At this point, you can upgrade directly to OS X Mountain Lion from the version of OS X you are now running (10.6.8).   You can purchase and download the Mountain Lion upgrade from the Mac App Store for $19.99.  After upgrading you will see iCloud in System Preferences.  This guide explains how to sync your Mac with iCloud after upgrading: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html.
Once all your devices are signed into the same iCloud account and you have turned on your iCloud data syncing, you will be able to keep them all in sync using iCloud.  You will still have to sync with iTunes to manage your iTunes media such as music, movies, podcasts, etc.  You will have the option to either continue backing up automatically with your computer when you sync with iTunes, or to back up your iOS devices automatically to iCloud every 24 hours (as long as they are connected to wifi and your chargers).
