As has been said, only if it boots with the X6.
What BIOS is on yours? Number on BIOS chip, last 3 digits BIOS version. Example: 120 would be v1.2

  • NF980-G65 BIOS Update Nightmare!!

There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for stupidity like this!!
Okay, I'm pretty sure someone or several people at MSI have their head up ass!
I have an AMD 1090T x6 going into a brand new board.  The factory shipped bios is v1.2 which doesn't identify the CPU correctly.  Trying to update to 1.4 and it cannot be done.  I've tried the HP Utility on this board, the MSI Utility on the board as well as several other bios boot diskettes, CDs, and USB Boot tools and it just hangs.
For gosh sakes, send the boards out with 1.4.
I am on a deadline and instead of installing an operating system tonight, I spent the last 5 hour F#%@ing around trying to flash a bios so I can proceed with my install.
I am using the default dumbed down bios settings, I have one stick of ram in the system, and nothing helps or works!  This is just plain retarded!!
The last time I went thru this a couple weeks ago, I ended up having to put an AMD 965 x4 into the board to flash from 1.2 to 1.4, then put in the x6 to carry on.
If ALL these companies were held accountable for the time people have to waste on their stupidity and mediocrity, this kind of crap wouldn't happen.
This kind of stupidity costs me money everyday!!  Only I have to suck it up and eat the loss everytime this kind of braindead crap is encountered.
A solution would be nice but I bet I won't get one.

How can a board be sent out with 1.4 if it was manufactured when only 1.2 was available.  You can't blame MSI for a retailer sending you older stock.  Contact the retailer and have them flash it or use a supported CPU.  If you don't have another MSI board or notebook with Windows installed(you'll need to download the bios to the other computer) where you can use the forum's utility to prepare a USB stick, >>MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< , then use one of the other methods in the sticky for flashing the bios under If you are unable to use the MSI HQ USB BIOS Flashing Tool, https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119375.0 .
We understand your frustration, but please calm down and let's try to help.
Thanks mike for posting this link ... once I get my board fixed and resent I will try this flasher.  Thanks again for your help!

  • Server Side activties have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.

    Hello,
I have the following scenario for the installation of EPM 2013 environment:
    1 Server running Windows 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2
1 Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1, running Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise (Standard Initially installed and then migrated to the Enterprise in order to install Project Server 2013), Project Server 2013 and Workflow 1.0 (2013).
After configuring and validating the configuration of Workflow 1.0 by http://server_name.example.com:12291 page and also check the Application Services in Central Administration and receive the Workflow Status = Connected.
Alright, but when I run the SPD 2013 RTM to test the creation of Sharepoint Workflow 2013, I get the following warning:
"Server Side activties have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities."
    I've tried:
    a. Restart SPD2013;
    b. Restart Server 2013 and Sharepoint Workflow 1.0;
    c. Reinstall and reconfigure Workflow 1.0
And the message is always displayed, preventing the use of Workflow Sharepoint 2013.
Can anyone help me, I'm in the middle of a deployment to a customer.

How did you uninstalledLanguage Pack from SharePoint 2013 ? when I googled it I found that language pack cannot be uninstall@
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262108.aspx
"If you no longer have to support a language for which you have installed a language pack, you can remove the language pack by using the Control Panel. Removing a language pack removes the language-specific site
templates from the computer. All sites that were created that have those language-specific site templates will no longer work (the URL will produce a HTTP 500 - Internal server error page). Reinstalling the language pack will make the site functional again.
You cannot remove the language pack for the version of SharePoint 2013 that you have installed on the server. For example, if you are running the Japanese version of SharePoint 2013, you cannot uninstall the Japanese language support for SharePoint 2013."

  • Need help flashing nf980 g65 bios

I just put together the NF980-G65 with a 6 core AMD processor. From what I understand it doesn't support the 6 cores unless I flash it to the latest BIOS update. It won't let me install Windows 7 or XP so I'm trying to use mflash. I downloaded the zip and extracted it onto a usb drive that's formatted with fat32. Then in the  BIOS when I try to do the update it can't find the file. It only shows partition 0, previous folder, or media folder. For some reason it won't find the update. I have tried everything I can think of, also using a different usb drive. Please help.

  • 890GXM-G65 BIOS update failure

I just assembled a PC with the 890GXM-G65 motherboard, 4 GB Kingston DDR3-1333 memory (2x KVR1333D3N9/2G), Athlon II X2 245 processor, Nvidia 8500GT video card. BIOS revision was 1.6. Although I intended to do a clean Windows 7 x64 install later, initially and with only minor adjustments I was able to successfully boot from my HDD transplanted from my old PC with Windows 7 x86.
I decided to update to BIOS 1.7 because I built this system in an emergency and on a tight budget, hence the Athlon II X2 and the reused old video card and HDD, but I intend to upgrade to a Phenom II X6 and a better card soon, and I remembered having seen the information on MSI's Web site, on the processor compatibility list, that revision 1.7 was required to support hexa-core processors. Later I found that the information on that page had been corrected to a mere version 1.2, but by then it was too late.
I downloaded the ZIP file with the BIOS 1.7 update (7642v17.zip) from MSI's Web site and extracted it. I tried to run the executable (AFUD4310.EXE) from within a Windows 7 command prompt, but I saw a message that the program could not run in that OS. I tried to perform LiveUpdate from MSI's site, but apparently it wasn't compatible either (Windows 7 and IE 8), because nothing happened and it kept returning to the same screen, even though I had enabled all ActiveX options for MSI's site. Then I saved the BIOS binary (A7642AMS.170) to a FAT-formatted USB stick and tried M-Flash from BIOS.
The BIOS recognized the file but said there was a "ROM dismatch" (sic). I canceled it, rebooted, re-downloaded the file, calculated the MD5 hash for the BIOS binary both on my HDD and on the USB stick and they matched, which rules out any problem with the file copy process or the USB stick hardware. I repeated the M-Flash process and since I had double-checked that the ROM file was correct, I saved my old BIOS to the same USB stick and let the flashing proceed.
The BIOS flash process went normally through the end ("Erasing ROM," "Writing ROM," etc.), with the message that the PC would reboot after 5 seconds. Which, of course, it didn't. Other than the blue LEDs and the processor fan spinning, nothing happens. Not even the GPU fan spins, and the same video card still works perfectly in my old PC, which of course I had to re-assemble - I'm writing from it now and using the same video card. I tried everything, in desperation including resetting the BIOS jumpers and removing the battery, even though I knew that's for misconfigured BIOS parameters, not for a corrupted BIOS.
Now, you don't have to tell me that a BIOS upgrade is risky. I know it, and only did it because I thought I had a good reason - to make my new PC ready for the upgrade I intend to do soon. But first, I wouldn't have done it without the incorrect information that was on MSI's Web site. Second, one expects a BIOS update to go without problems if you have the correct binary ROM file from the motherboard's manufacturer and there are no power outages or other problems that interrupt the process. Both these requisites were met. Yet now my brand-new mobo (which I stressed my limited budget to get exactly because of the X6 support and new 890GX chipset) appears to be dead.
Do I have just an expensive paperweight and a considerable loss in my bank account, or is there still hope? Can anything still be done to save my motherboard? Thanks a lot for any possible help.

so there are all lies or what ?
No, that is called marketing.  In most cases, there are no problems with M-Flash whatsoever.  However, in too many other instances there have been problems with M-Flash, that is why we warn against using it, to be on the safe side.  You can either ignore these warnings and take your chances (probably 95% success rate) or take them seriously and update the BIOS the DOS-Way and increase the success rate to 99.9999%.  It is up to you.  In case the only reason you posted your remark is to start the sort of discussion we already had hundred times in this forum, please either start your own topic and state your actual problem or just don't reply to my reply.  This is a user-to-user forum, not an MSI Technical Support or an official MSI Products complaint stations. If you think that there is serious lying involved here and if have justified complaints, please contact MSI directly:  >>How to contact MSI.<< Thank You.

that's explains a lot of what i was seeing... i had though that the 6 core was not getting fully enabled till the windows driver took over witch explan's the install time and boot time... witch over all was not a issue but cool to know everything should work faster for boot even if it don't really cut the boot time down a ton.

  • BIOS Update to gain L2 Cache support a worthwhile risk?

    My specs:
    P35 Platinum Combo (BIOS 1.0) • Intel E8400 • Intel X25-M SATA Solid State Drive - 160 GB • Kingston 8gb(4x2gb) DDR 2 800 • Saphire HD 7850 (driver 13.1) • Windows 7 Home 64
I noticed recently on the webpage of BIOS updates for my board that the most recent update would Support L2 function.  If I understand L2 cache correctly then it would mean a performance increase.  By how much I don't know though...
Is it worth the risk of updating my BIOS in order to have L2 cache support?  I've done a fair bit of work on my system lately and it's quite stable.  15 second boot-up!  Diablo 3 runs great.  No crashing or stalls.

Wow, I didn't know there was more than one e8400.  Thanx for posting!  I have the C0 revision.  Does that mean the BIOS version 1.3 would have no effect?  I thought the L2 support provided by BIOS version 1.3 for my board would apply to either e8400 revision?

  • NF980-G65 bios 7612v11

I'm building a new system with this board, and while getting the W7 drivers, I noticed there is a newer bios. I have 1.0. I have only been running memtest so far getting it stable with 4Gb of 1333 memory OCZ3P1333LVAM4GK. The ram is listed as 1333 7-7-7-20 1.65v but bios default puts it as 1066 at 1.5v. At 1333 7-7-7-20 I got it to do 2 passes at 1.63v without errors, and it has gone 3 passes at 1.64v, but it gets errors at 1.62v or 1.65v. waiting for a reply from OCZ about this narrow range. Also, voltage above 1.60v is yellow.
The first 2 changes listed for the new bios are a bit cryptic.
    Quote
    - Update AGESA code.
    - Support L2 function.
    - Support AMD unlock CPU.
Google on AGESA says it has to do with detecting and setting up the cpu?
It is listing 512K L2 cache for this Phenom II X4 945 in Memtest. Didn't notice what bios says, so guessing L2 is working.

OCZ claims that the only put 1066 in the spd because some boards won't do a first boot with higher speed.... I'm not real happy with this memory. They are suposed to be configured special for AMD setups yet they require a bit higher voltage then standard and don't work at the listed voltage. I got then to pass 2 on memtest at 1.63v before I stopped it and tried 1.64v. Went 5 passes. But at the rated 1.65v, they error at test #5 on the first pass. That is too small a margin for my taste. I got them from Amazon.com. May look into sending them back and getting something else. Soooo close to getting this running. I may go ahead and install windows over the weekend before pulling the ram.
chef jeff, I find Neweggs advanced search thing doesn't work too well, Things that should be listed arn't because they leave some data out. you found more then I did at speed and voltage for that brand. Maybe because I reduced the search to CL 7. I only came up with:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231276
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144264
Would be a nice board if I get it stable. I went with it over the Asus because the IG is fully connected allowing me to hold on buying a video card until the 300's come out. I also wasn't happy with Asus RMA/techsupport when I had to deal with them. So glad to see the MSI board come out. This is replacing a 745-Ultra system.
Decided to send the OCZ stuff back. Looked at the G.Skill, but I noticed it is t2, not t1. From a little digging, sometimes you have to go to t2 to get 4 sticks working. if it needs t2 to work with 2, then it's already pushing limits at just 4GB
