Nfl mobile data charges

Is my data affected by using this app on more everything plan?

Hello there phil84!  Yes using the NFL Mobile app does use data on your phone.  The best way to review if an application uses data is to turn off the mobile data and Wi-Fi and see if it will work for you.  If you need anything further, don't hesitate to let us know.  Thanks for being our valued customer! Have a great evening!

  • NFL Mobile Data Plan

I have been unable to run NFL Mobile on my Incredible for the last couple of days.  It was working before (although I no longer have free access to Redzone).  Now when I try to load it, I get the error "Your current data plan is not supported. Nfl Mobile requires a Verizon Wireless data plan of 2GB or more."  Problem is that I have an unlimited data plan (grandfathered).  Even if I wasn't grandfathered, I certainly pay for at least a 2GB plan.  How can I get this app to work again?

    Hi lpgonzales,
It must be frustrating not being able to access the NFL Mobile application (this is one of my favorites). Try clearing the data on the application. Go to Apps > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select All > Scroll down to NFL Mobile and Clear Data > Power off device > Remove the battery for ten seconds > Place back in and power on. If this does not resolve your concerns try removing the application and download/re-install.
    Keep us posted.

Try turning on wifi and see if it works because this may be another issue with the app....  Also remeber that a number of users have had issues bacause of the network issue do to the 4g upgrads that is rumored on Nov 15, 2011.

  • Excessive mobile data charges

    I have just received my latest BT monthly mobile bill for my son's phone which includes £300 of non-itemised data usage charges. As I do not have the unlimited option which is available for only £5 per month I am faced with this horrendous charge. When I contacted them they explained that the charge is correct but do not have to provide any of the following;
Details of how the charge is made up or justify that they are correct. No times or dates are provided.
Advise me or provide any sort of warning when the 10MB free allowance has run out.
Justify why the unlimited usage charge bears no resemblance to actual costs that can be occurred without this, at £1.47 per GB. With their broadband charges you only pay a few pounds if you exceed the monthly allowance, nothing like this.
The costs are listed in the small print but you would still not be able to know the amount used without checking data usage every day.
My point is that no-one would expect charges like this to build up so quickly and without warning. Does anyone have any similar experience of this?

    Hi Brian,
    Sympathise with you absolutely.
I had a similar but slightly less expensive issue following a software upgrade to my HTC s620. The upgrade was perfomed by a BT customer service agent who remotely connected to my PC and made the upgrade happen. Unfortunately she forgot to inform me that I'd start receiving all my emails to my phone as well. I realised when - over two separate monthly bills - there were unexplained high data charges. Two months running BT customer service reversed out these charges. (I didn't use my phone for emails.) I have now started subscribing to the £5/month extra data package as my 20-yr old daughter is using our HTC Hero. We're now operating well within our new data limit.
May I suggest that you "count to 10" and basically go on bended knee to BT Customer Services and explain what has happened and that it was purely accidental/unintentional. Plead poverty. With luck you may have the same good fortune as me.
My advice is: Be patient and friendly and allow the staff to do a favour for a "nice" customer who has a heartbroken son begging foir his father's forgiveness. Hopefully this is the truth anyway....!
I agree with you and don't think that is at all fair to penalise customers on the basis of your bullet points.
If BT wants its brand to be synonomous with fairness, clarity and transparency - it still has a few light years to go!

  • My iPad is being used at home on wifi but some how running up 8gb in a month of mobile data charges??? It's a pad 2

As above since getting my iPad replaced I used almost 6gb last month but was using it on 3G for a week. In July only used it on home wifi network but orange say I have used 8gb of mobile data and slapp me with a 250 quid bill. Help! I am not thick i have turned off mobile data but have not used it at home on wifi.

You've somehow already pinpointed the problem, of course (Office).  Many people seem to run it successfully. Maybe re-install it?
Anyway, if this were happening to me, I would be looking more closely (via Activity Monitor) at how the RAM is being used.  With "All Processes" being shown, sort by "Real Memory" and see who is the hog.

  • Mobile Data Charges

The replacement of optional Data Packs by automatic $10/GB increments for excess usage has its advantages. However the "no-rollover" characteristic appears to introduce a big disadvantage to customers.
An extreme but quite possible example: As I understand it, if on the last day of a billing cycle I exceed my allowed (or extended) data usage by just one megabyte, that single megabyte is going to cost me $10 instead of the previous penalty rate of 3 cents!
    Comments anyone?

Not really.  I noticed that my 100mb data allowance had gone down to 22mb in a short space of time without a great deal of usage.  I turned mobile data off that same day and today it is down to 11mb.  Perhaps there is a lag between usage and what is shown as remaining on the O2 website?

  • Connected to wifi but at midnight I am charged for "mobile data" on 3G (iPhone 4s)

I am on the Vodafone network and housebound. My iPhone 4s is connected to internet via wifi.
I have been incurring huge charges from Vodafone as a result of "mobile data downloads" ...which always occur at midnight when I am connected by wifi
I have had my phone looked at in a Vodafone store and they indicate that there doesn't appear to be any untoward apps on my phone.
I suspected the culprit to be the "Songpop" app and posted a message on their forum.
"Songpop" said this was a problem with my ISP but this has been ruled out as there aren't any drops in internet connection from by my ISP (they have looked at connection logs).
The official response from "Songpop" on their forum is that this an "Apple Support" issue. See here: http://support.songpop.fm/songpop/topics/playing_songpop_on_phone_via_wifi_but_i ncurring_download_data_charges_for_3g_useage?utm_content=topic_link&utm_medium=e mail&utm_source=reply_notification
Can anyone throw any light on this issue  as I have a very expensive bill to pay from Vodafone and I have not downloaded anything to my phone by 3G ...  and I rarely use 3G when away from home ... and if I do use away from home then I do not stream videos etc.
    Please help

Without looking at specific parts of your issue, here's how to turn cellular access off completely but keep your WiFi active:
Go to Settings > Airplane Mode and turn it on.
After doing that, go to Settings > WiFi and turn that on.
Then you will have WiFi and no cellular access.

  • NFL Mobile App Used Data When Not Open

I used the NFL Mobile App last night for the first time. I connected to my WIFI thinking it wouldn't use any data. But it did anyway. And then during the night when the app was closed it used a whole lot of data on its own. I have notifications turned off. Why should this be using data when not open? And why should it be using data when on WIFI?

To have to go to settings, apps, find the app and then force stop is
a lot of steps just to stop an app. Not really an acceptable solution.
However, I re-installed the app. Opened it to make sure it worked ok. Made
sure my WIFI was on during all this. Then went to apps and did a force stop.
Took several tries to get it to stop for some reason. Later I noticed my phone
seemed to be using a lot of battery for some reason. Re-booted phone to make
sure all apps had closed. Went back in and checked the NFL app. It was no
longer stopped. I force stopped it again. Took several tries. Waited a few minutes
and checked again. It was no longer stopped. For some reason it won’t stop. So
I had to un-install it again.
Not sure why all this is happening with this particular app, but I can’t take the
chance of inadvertent data or battery usage. So it will remain un-installed until
someone tells me the problem has been fixed. It’s a shame as since this is one
of the perks of my Verizon account, I feel I have been slighted. I can’t believe I’m
the only one having this issue.

  • How to block mobile broadband permanently to avoid data charges

i love the wifi on this phone, but i occasionally accidentally get data charges. i have data roaming off, but it sometimes still goes through. what do i do???

You can either call customer service and have data blocked, but sometimes they will do it wrong and block picture/video messages as well. How i did it was that I logged into myverizon on my home computer and there is an option on the bottom to "change features" under the section labeled plan, click on that. Then on the right side of the screen there is link under the "related actions" section that says "Manage Service Blocks" click that. Finally select "block all data features" and click update. Your done and can now use your phone without fearing data charges and yes you can still use WIFI.

  • Mobile running Android OS - Data Charges

Perhaps someone can give me advice.
I assume that if I only use skype whilst in a WI-FI zone that all communications will be via the internet and that (a) I will not be charged minutes by my service provider, and (b) that there will be no data usage. Is this correct?
I have a Samsung running Android OS. If I go to profiles and change the status to "offline" is it true that there will be no attempt to use the 3G network and therefore no charges?
If I forget to make Skype offline is it true that Skype will use the 3G network to communicate with its server and run up data usage charges?
Can 3G data charges be stopped by me always having roaming switched off?

I meant to tap on the apps on that list and disable the background data to such apps
settings > data traffic > you should see a list > select one of the apps
now keeping whatsapp, bbm etc will use your data, that's normals, also
open the playstore app > settings > uncheck auto update apps

  • NFL Mobile on DINC2

I just got the DINC2 and I'm wondering what parts of nfl mobile are free and what parts i have to pay for? i know i have to pay for live games but other videos seem to be free, there was no promp to pay for those. (this is a 3g phone)

I believe I found an answer to your question.  This is what the license agreement states when you download the application: Download and use of the Service will be billed on a per megabyte basis unless you subscribe to a plan that includes unlimited sending and receiving of data. A monthly charge or a VCAST video package may be required for streaming video content available through the App.  Verizon Wireless may periodically check your location to enforce NFL blackout of games.  Please also note that streaming video will not be available in stadium or in the immediate vicinity of game venues.  You agree to ll terms in the following license agreement.
The videos that require a VCAST Video subscription is located at the bottom where it says "watch" in the box from the main menu.  When you press it, and there is no existing subscription, it should say "Please subscribe to VCAST/ Verizon Video to watch LIVE video (NFL Network, RedZone, NBC Sunday Night Football, & NFL Network Thursday Night Football)."  You can either hit OK or Cancel.  Here's a link that separates the basic features from the premium features.
Verizon Video or VCAST Video costs $10.00 per month.
I hope that answers your question.

  • The latest version of NFL Mobile (after July 22, 2010)

I have a question about the NFL Mobile app. I downloaded it before July 22, and I've since downloaded the latest version of the app today on July 25 and un-installed the older version of the application.
I am seeing conflicting reports on the cost of the new version of this NFL Mobile app. I'm reading that starting Sept. 1, I will have to pay for the live video and RedZone features. However, another report is listing that if I downloaded the older app before July 22, I have access to everything this application provides for the entire NFL 2010 season. Which is correct?
Also, I'm new to using smartphones. Is there a way for Verizon to tell when I originally downloaded, installed, and un-installed applications? If so, is there a way I can see this as well? I only have been able to see how much data I've used in my plan, not what I used it for.

You asked the exact same questions that have been driving me nuts for weeks now! I have read conflicting reports as well but here are two articles I read that help clear up some things.
(This is on the actual verizon wireless website)
    1. http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-Community-Blogs/NFL-Mobile-App-Only-From-Verizon/ba-p/234953
    2.  http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Hey-Football-Fans-NFL-Mobile-prnews-2348684600.html?x=0&.v=1
I also called Verizon and asked about these conflicting reports and their Rep told me that if you Downloaded it before July  19-21st you were grandfathered  in and will not have to pay the $10 extra for video. You will continue to recieve the premium features for free throughout the 2010-2011 Season after September 1st.. If you downloaded after July 22nd then you will have to pay the $10 for vcast subscription in order to watch the videos.
I explained to her I can't find a  way to figure out what date I exactly downloaded it on my phone or even on "My Verizon" account. She told me she has no way of  checking since it is on my phone and then asked a technician who also explained that there is no way for us to check ourselves on our phones. Sounds pretty silly to me that we can't have an exact download date for our applications because it  seems like something so simple. But that's what he said and apparently he's the expert. (Off subject: that also leads me to question how then, can they know whether we downloaded before or after the 22nd in order to qualify for the free premium features. How is that tracked then, if there are no download dates saying when we did it. Know what I mean? When we access the live video stream of games after September 1st, does the application automatically adjust itself to not cause a charge on our bills? How does verizon verify it? I don't know. Just food for thought) So again no way of checking when Apps were downloaded by Verizon or ourselves and if you can remember when you downloaded it initially (which I can't) and it was before the 22nd then you are safe for the whole season! No charges for you including video. Lucky for me the Rep was also a Colts fan like me and was a big help on understanding all this. Unfortunately I'm just going to have to wait till September 1st to see if I downloaded before the 22nd or after if that charge appears. Hope my post helped!

  • Ten dollars a month to watch "free" NFL mobile app

Just admit it Verizon: you are going to make 3g users pay 10 dollars a month to watch the supposedly free NFL Mobile App.
I read the hocus pocus post about data management etc.
The bottom line is you are going to charge a fee to use a free app.

    Hi jac10,
I apologize for any confusion surrounding the pricing of the NFL Mobile application. Please see pricing details below:
When downloading NFL Mobile application fees apply differently depending on current promotions and mobile device type.
    ·          All phones receive Basic Features at no additional cost
    ·          4G devices receive Premium Features at no additional cost for 2011 Season (promotional)
    ·          Effective 10/01/2011, NFL Mobile requires $10 Verizon Video/V CAST Video subscription for users with 3G devices
    ·          Data usage is incurred while using NFL Mobile application and charged per the customer's data package
When downloading the NFL Mobile Application:
Customers are advised when accepting the end-user license agreement that a V CAST Video subscription is required to access video content.
3G customers accessing NFL Mobile video content without a Verizon Video/V CAST Video subscription will see the option to self-provision Verizon Video/V CAST Video for $10 per month to receive the NFL Premium app.
4G customers will receive free access to NFL Mobile video content through the end of the current NFL season (promotional).

  • NFL Mobile (2011 Season) Q's

I downloaded the NFL mobile app last night to my iPhone.  I saw that it is free for the 4g customers.
I read the Terms & Conditions and saw there is a charge for 3g customers.  I really don't want to pay for this service.  I don't have the Verizon Video option on my account (and nor do I want it).  Was it actually added to my account or will I get something within the app that says I need to add this option?  Did I incur any charges for using the video feed for a while yesterday (9/11)?
thanks for any help you can provide!

mdram4x4, thanks for your input. The NFL mobile option is a great way to keep up with scores, updates, and news.  YOur also  correct about the charge. The NFL application is free to download to your device. However, some NFL Mobile features can result in large data use. This is especially important if you have a tiered data. Some of those features include but not limited to; Streaming Live Video, or Watching Video Playbacks On Demand, and Listening to live streaming Audio of NFL. It can be difficult to predict actual usage so everyone should weigh options between using 3G or 4G LTE Wireless Internet service versus the use of alternative connectivity solutions like Wi-Fi hotspots when available. This will help prevent unanticipated overages.
Just remember, we offer some great self-help tools to track your data usage. I have listed some below along with a link to the NFL application info on our website.
    1) Data Calculator
    2) Data Usage Widget
    3) #DATA on your mobile phone
    4) Checking usage through MyVerizon

  • IPhone 4s mobile data does not stay turned off.

I have an iPhone 4s running iOS 7.1.2.  When I go into the mobile settings and turn off the mobile data on my applications that I don't want to use my mobile data for, when I exit out of the settings and go back in, they have been turned back on.  I've tried a hard reset and doing a reset and then putting the back up back on the phone and none of it seems to help.  Its already cost me an additional $40 on my last phone bill because the settings didn't stay off and my songs auto downloaded even though I had the settings turned off.
If there is a fix other than having to reset and not use my backup I would love that, as nothing else I seem to try works.

Clean the iPhone charging port with a clean dry toothbrush.
If still problem, iPhone 4S has full Warranty, make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.
