NFORCE 3 and ATI graphics

Is there any problem if I install Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB on MSI K8N Neo Platinum (nFORCE3)? Actually I mean is there problem between nVIDA mainboard chipset and Ati graphic chipset?
Thanks!

No problem at all.
Got a Neo2 (nForce3 / s939)  and 9600pro myself

  • MSI mobos and ATI graphics card incompability!

I don´t know how well known this problem is but I´ve seen it on this forum and when googling the internet you can find it!
The issue is that I can´t get my HD5450(Sapphire) to work on my MS-7267 (945GCM5-F V2) mobo! The screen stays blank but the PC boots up and loads Windows.
The HD5450 works fine on other mobos with different PSU´s ranging from 350 - 600 watts, but when trying different PSU´s on the 945GCM5-F V2 it doesn´t seem to help. I´ve also tried different bios settings, I´ve cleared CMOS, I´ve tried both dvi and vga outputs, I´ve disconnected as much as possible from the mobo except from the graphics card and the PSU, but nothing seems to help!
    Any ideas , someone?
    Tekrar!

    Thanks for all replies!
I had this question on the AMD forum (AMD Game » AMD Technology » Radeon Graphics » MSI mobos and ATI graphics card incompability!) and here are some of the replies:
"Well, its a known issue that older chipsets, like even AMD 580X chipset, doesn't work with 5k/6k series cards without a bios update from the manufacturer of the board.
If its not working / posting / no video ect... You need to bug MSI to update the bios on the board to support the newer 5k/6k video cards. It may or may not happen. Several manufacturers have like Asus, and Gigabyte."
"Same problem. 5450, MSI MS-7267 (945GCM5-F V2). Done the same plus updated msi mainboard bios using msi live update 5 etc. Waiting for reply from makers of graphics card and mainboard.
I should add from what I've read in other threads and forums it seems to be an old mainboard problem not just related to the MSI 945GCM5-F V2. Some other manufacturers of mainboards have sent customers bios upgrades to get their cards working.
As for your pci express version question. Well these problems seem to emerge when people have plugged these pci express version 2.1 cards into their pci express 1st generation slots. What exactly the problem is here? Leave that for manufacturers/experts to answer."
"Tek , its hit or miss on the board + chipset combination on if the card will work or not. Sometimes they will work in old boards, Sometimes they will not w/o manufacturerer support.
Its completely random from what I've seen on the forums at the times they were released , when people with old boards were asking why it wasn't working. And what they did to solve it. Most all of them emailed the manufacturer. Some of those said manufactureres provided beta bios back to the customers, some said your out of luck."
Its true, this MSI MS-7267 (945GCM5-F V2) isn´t a new mobo, but when I get the 5450 to work without problem with an even older fujitsu mobo (last bios update long time ago) and a 350 watts PSU I think something´s wrong.
So, a bios upgrade would probably fix it if the manufacturer (in this case MSI) just wanted to!

  • APPLE 30" Cinema Display and ATI Graphics Card compatability

    hi all
I have a 2year old APPLE Dual proc G5 PowerMac 2.0mhz (1.5GB Ram) with an ATI graphics Card which is a ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb ram.
This currently works well dipslaying via a Apple cinema 23" screen. However i would like to upgrade the screen with an Apple 30" display now. Will the current ATI Graphics card support a 30"display or will i need to replace the card on buying a new monitor..
i was looking at potentially a new ATI X1900Xt card.
any experiences and help please ...
    Thanks Paul

Your existing card will not run the 30" at full resolution. The ATI X1900 XT won't fit because it is not AGP.
The fastest AGP card for your G5 is the ATI Radeon X800 Mac edition
    <http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ATI%20Technologies/100435317/>
It has one DVI dual-link port that will run the 30" display, and one ADC port.

  • Macbook Pro and ATI Graphics crashes in Windows Vista and 7

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else had been having problems with Windows 7 and Vista having graphics driver crashes. I have been having this problem since the Boot Camp beta, and it has yet to be addressed as far as I can tell.
Basically the problem is that after a few minutes in either Vista or 7(after installing all the boot camp drivers from the Leopard or Snow Leopard disc) the screen graphics will start getting all corrupted. Eventually I will get a message in the taskbar telling me that the ATI driver has crashed and recovered from an error.
I have looked everywhere online I can think of for an answer, but have come up pretty empty thus far. The only thing I remember finding that was a possibility a long time ago was something to do with trying it with 1 stick of ram installed rather than 2, or that my ram could be problematic.
I tried running with just 1 stick, and that didn't help at all. I also tried each stick individually also with no change. I even went as far as running a diagnostic using some kind of memory testing software to see if the ram was bad, but it came back as good.
Also, I have run in XP without any issues whatsoever, so I am assuming it is something Vista and 7 specific. I was thinking it might have something to do with the Aero features as when I disable the ATI driver and run in Windows Basic without Aero enabled, I don't get the graphics glitches. Another clue might be that when the graphics glitch up, if I bring up the ctrlaltdel screen which gives you the option of Task Manager, Log Off, etc. the graphics are NOT glitched on that screen. As soon as you exit that screen however, the glitched screen is immediately back.
Bah, I am at pretty much the end of my sanity trying to figure this out, and was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the older MacBook Pro or is mine just inherently bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is my system info just for extra help possibly?
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,2
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 2 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP12.0061.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.5f10
    ATI Radeon X1600:
    Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600
    Type: GPU
    Bus: PCIe
    PCIe Lane Width: x16
    VRAM (Total): 256 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x71c5
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-xxxxxx-086
    EFI Driver Version: 01.00.086

Just an added update for anyone interested. I believe I have finally figured out what the issue is.
Apparently, at least on this model of MacBook, Apple has the ATI card underclocked to 310MHz / 278MHz (GPU and RAM respectively) when running normally. However, when running in Windows the ATI driver automatically uses the full clock speed of 470MHz / 470MHz (or something to that effect). The reason that it ends up getting artifacts and driver crashes is because of overheating. Apple has it underclocked because of the way heat is distributed in the system.
Anyway, I found a tool that KIND of works for fixing the issue I believe. It is called ATITool, and allows you to change the clock speed to the 310MHz / 278MHz that works so well in OS X.
    It is located at: http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/
One thing though, the newest version 0.27 beta 3 (on mine at least) causes the backlight of the screen to go off when you load it in Windows. If you put the machine into hibernate, then bring it back up it will come back on... but that is annoying. I have found that the version 0.25 beta 13 doesn't have this issue. It is possible some of the other versions prior to 0.27 beta 3 also don't have this issue, but I haven't tested them yet. I will give some of them a try later.
The previous versions can be found here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/Tweaking/ATITool/
Anyway, if anyone else has luck with other clock speeds or knows of any other solutions please let me know. This way works, but I would like to find a better solution if possible.

  • Leopard doesn't work with Lego Star Wars II and ATI graphics?

My son has an iBook G4, and has been running Lego Star Wars II just fine under the latest release of OS 10.4. He just installed Leopard, and now the Lego Star Wars game says that his graphics board isn't enough to run the game. Is there a patch for this? He has a PPC G4 1.42 GHz with 512 MB RAM, ATI Mobility 9550 graphics board with 32 MB RAM. We installed 10.5.1 patch to the OS.
    Any help?

Here are the minimum system requirements for Lego Star Wars II:
    System Requirements
Mac OS X v10.4 or later
    1.6GHz PowerPC or Intel processor
    512MB RAM
    64MB VRAM
    3GB free hard-disk space
    Mouse and keyboard
    DVD drive
As you can see, your son's computer doesn't meet these requirements.
I'm sure he'll be happy when you tell him you have to buy him a new computer to play the game!

Of note there is a new AMD Catalyst Omega driver released earlier in the week that brings 5K resolution to AMD graphics cards. Here is the link (support.ad.com/en-us/download) to the AMD site. But none of these work with my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), Windows 8 bootcamp.
    Please advise.

  • Photoshop CS3 and ATI Radeon 2600XT  Graphics ERRORS

I am Running photoshop CS3 on a mac pro 2.8GHz 8-core with and ATI Radeon 2600XT graphics card. On any size file, from a small jpeg to an enormous tif, any time I pan around the image, the monitor will repeat a section of the image over and over to fill the screen. That is to say, panning vertically will fill the screen with copies of a random horizontal section of the image (20pixels wide or so). The effect goes away as soon as I perform another action that affects the entire image (zoom, action undo, create new layer, etc.). I have updated photoshop and osx with all available software and firmware updates.
An example of what this looks like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26107441@N02/2450960322/

I am running the same Mac hardware with a Mitsubishi 2060u, 1600x1200, 85Hz (CRT). I am having no such issues with PS CS3. I tried the monitor at 60Hz as well which also worked fine.
Do you have all the latest updates installed including the 2600 firmware update?

    Hi @arkas
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having some graphic problems. Did you install that ATI driver from the AMD website? If so that is the problem. You have switchable graphics meaning that you have two video cards. The Intel card is designed for your everyday basic graphics processing while the ATI card is designed to handle the heavy lifting. Switchable graphics drivers are configured by the manufacturer of the notebook not the manufacturer of the graphics card.
I would suggest that you install your AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver and your Intel High-Definition Graphics Driver. If you are looking for more information on switchable graphics this HP document Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs.

  • HP computers with Intel and ATI/AMD switchable graphics

    Hi,
    Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex
    Product Number : LM610EA#A2N
From HP website, I have downloaded :
'ATI Radeon Graphics Driver_ Software Packaging Number()_Driver Packaging Version 8.810.4.1000(2010)'
'AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver_ Software Packaging Number(SP55092)_Driver Packaging Version 8.882.2.3000'
I have installed a new version of Windows 7, and then got these adapters before installing any drivres::
I have installed  ''ATI Radeon Graphics Driver_ Version 8.810.4.1000".  However, while  installing ''ATI Radeon Graphics Driver' packaging version  8.810.4.1000(2010)'  on my laptop, I found that that  'ATI adapter driver' is in the packgage as in this screen shot.
Then, after installation completed, the device manager was:
I have  removed the existing drivers to where I have it down to 2 VGA adapters and the big icon screen I describe in the first screen shot, then install the 'AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver_ Software Packaging Number(SP55092)_Driver Packaging Version 8.882.2.3000'.
However, when I have installed 'AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver_ Software Packaging Number(SP55092)_Driver Packaging Version 8.882.2.3000',  I found that  AMD adpater driver is in the packgage as in this screen shot.
After installation completed, then the device manager became:
If we make a comparission between two installations, we will find that
    In the first installation:
    Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics
    Radeon(TM) HD 6770M.
    In the second installtion:
     Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.
    Radeon(TM) HD 6770M.
Thus, my question is as follows:
First: is there any difference between 'Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics' and 'Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.'
Second: Why is 'ATI Adapter driver'  shown in the first installation, and in the second "AMD adapter driver", however,  in either instllation,  'Radeon(TM) HD 6770M'  and 'Intel graphics' were installed? In other words, neither 'ATI' is listed in the device manager nor 'AMD'  listed on the device manager.

    Thanks a lot,
you asked me about sending my SN before and now you are asking me about  what  the Guest machine model I have is. I think   the Guest machine model will do nothing with what I am looking for. No problem with   the Guest machine model I have if you have a look again at that thread of mine.
But I am really so afraid to say that you  didn't take some of your precious time out to either read my enquiry in this thread or in the other one mentioned to at this thread.
Also, if you checked again my firt post, you will see that I've been asking why while I was installing ATI Radeon Graphics, there was ATI adapter driver.
However, when I was installing 'AMD HIgh Definitioni Graphics', there was 'AMD adapter driver'
Simply, if you have kindly a look again at my very post at this thread you understand me well that I don't have any problem with installing the latest AMD driver found in HP website, however, all AMD drivers found in HP website are not newer than what I downloaded two yeras and a half ago.
I think that  HP people don't keep abreast with updating their drivers and software.
I  downloaded my drivers and software form HP about two years and a half ago, but when I now visited the HP website, I found no drivers newer than what I downloaded two years and a half.

  • Hello !, can i install Mac OSX Lion to my PC (not mac)  i have got Intel Core2 Quad processor and Gigabyte P35-DS3 and 3GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD4850 Sapphire graphics Card ?

    Hello Guys
i want to install MacOSX to my pc
i heard something about that (like OSX86 project ?)
i have got Intel Core2 Quad processor and Gigabyte P35-DS3 and 3GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD4850 Sapphire graphics Card ?
    please answer .......

Teknus...  Here's the issue.  For starters, I understand software licensing issues may not be interpreted the same in all countries (although they are still applicable).  I also understand that everyone is not familiar with what software licensing is.  It is technically possible to install OS X on a PC (as you have seen on your friends computer).  However, Apple has designed OS X to only work on Macs.  In order to get OS X to work on a PC, it must be modified ("hacked").  As these forums are owned by Apple, we are not permitted to provide you with instructions on how to hack their OS.
Having said that, I have used OS X on PCs.  It is not a pleasant experience at all.  The experience is actually poor enough on a PC that I would not even use it... opting for Windows or Linux instead.  You're simply sacrificing too much of the true OS X experience when you try to run it on standard PC hardware.  If you want to try  a different operating system, give Linux a try.  There are many free versions out there and they will run on just about any PC.  The forums are also very helpful.  Linux is much more similar to OS X than Windows.
I understand that Macs are expensive and that you would like to use OS X on a PC.  The simple fact is that using it on a PC would not be the same as using it on a Mac.

  • Windows 7 RTM x64 Power Manager and switchable graphics not working

Installed Windows 7 RTM x64 on my T400. After windows update and installing Lenovo's drivers, everything is accounted for. ATI graphics works fine, and I can see the Intel graphics on the shortcut menu. I just cannot manually switch to the built-in graphics, nor did I see the Power Manager. What do I need to do? I have installed the drivers for the power management, even though on the list of driver on lenovo's webpage it says it's only for SL models.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Specs:
    T400

Have you installed the Power manager http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#powm ?
And after that, make sure you have installed the right driver (the one for switchable graphics): http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#m8xswitch
    Hope that helps.
I also have Windows 7 Professional x64 on my T400 and everything works fine (i only uses programs and driver from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html

  • Catalyst Control Center ATI graphics card error message

This error message keeps popping up:
"The Catalyist Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver or enable your ATI adapter using the Displays Manager."
I have the latest driver and as far as I can tell, it is the only driver it is possible for me to "enable." Why does this message keep popping up and how do I stop it?
    Thank you.

    Uninstall the catalyst control center.
Download the most recent display driver from Lenovo - not from ATI.
    Uninstall the existing display driver.
Install only the display driver - do not install catalyst control center.  It is totally unecessary in this computer, in my opinion.  Both XP and Vista do a simpler job of managing displays.
