NForce 4.27 drivers + SB Audigy 2 ZS Platimun = Windows XP not booting!

Hi folks,
I know that I'm not using my MSI K7N2 Delta in my main rig anymore, but I've gotten good help here in the past (you guys rock!), and I *do* have the MSI GeForce 6800GT in my config so I was hoping that you folks might be able to give me some insights.
I have a system with the following components:
DFI Ultra Infinity nForce2 Ultra motherboard (latest BIOS)
2 x 512MB OCZ PC4200
Mobile Athlon 2500+
MSI GeForce 6800GT (Forceware 61.77)
PCI Slot 3 Intel 10/100+ PCI NIC
PCI Slot 4 (not shared) - SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Assigned IRQ4 manually
All on-board peripherals disabled except for FDC, IDE1, USB
After much gnashing of teeth, (and several reinstalls of Windows XP) I narrowed it down to a problem between the nForce drivers and the Audigy 2 ZS drivers.
I'll tell you what happens:
When I install Windows XP, everything is great. Everything loads up just fine. I can get Windows installed without a hitch. I then upgrade to SP2. No problems. I then try installing the nForce UDP 4.27 and it works with no issues. I can even install the drivers for my GeForce card and, again, no problems at all.
However, if I then install the driver software for the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, the system will no longer boot into Windows XP!
If I do the reverse, as in install the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum drivers FIRST, the system is fine until I try installing the nForce UDP 4.27, then the same thing happens.
There is little recourse but to reinstall Windows (I'm not doing an ASR if I can avoid it as they're messy) in either case because I can't even get into SM w/ CP.
When Safe Mode shows the drivers loading the system hangs at MUP.SYS then never continues.
I Googled the problem and I found a bunch of suggestions about how to avoid conflicts with the Audigy cards, and I assigned Slot 4 to IRQ4 and no other device is conflict/sharing with it.
On a note: I actually DID manage to get the Audigy and nForce drivers to work properly to allow me a clean reboot, but that was before I realized that I'd forgotten to power up the Live! Drive. When I shut down and powered up the Live! Drive, the system wanked on startup. Even removing the Audigy 2 card did not allow Windows XP to boot up after this happened.
I guess my questions are:
1) Has anyone ever run into this before?
2) Does this sound like a problem with SP2 acting wanky? Should I just try installing the nForce/Audigy software on the base Windows XP and see what happens?
3) Do I NEED to install the nForce 4.27 drivers, or is there another version that you can recommend that might be more friendly, or do I even need to install them at all? What parts of the nForce driver do I absolutely need to install if I must do so?
PLEASE NOTE: This setup worked fine with a SB Live! Platinum 5.1 in the same slot prior to me upgrading to the SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (and the old sound card worked great on my old K7N2 delta). However, I was also not trying to run SP2....
Any help that any of you gurus out there can give me would really be appreciated. I'm at the end of my rope here.
Thanks

I have APIC on, as well as ACPI. I have also manually assigned IRQ4 to the slot with the Audigy card and it's not shared. I disabled the onboard serial ports, parallel port, firewire, NIC and audio.
It is worthwhile to note that when I installed the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum drivers FIRST, that all devices in the system functioned properly and without problems. It wasn't until I upgraded the system drivers for the nForce components that it refused to boot. This would seem to indicate a conflict between these sets of drivers, and not an IRQ problem or hardware resource conflict.
Could it maybe be SP2 doing it? Should I try installing as Wonkanoby suggested below with no service packs or SP1a?

Thanks Wonkanoby. I appreciate the links, and yes, I'll try to install the nForce drivers one by one. I'll create Restore Points for each one and figure out where it's dying. Someone else on another forum suggested disabling MUP.SYS as it seems to be hanging there, but it could just coincedentally be the last item loading BEFORE it blows up.
Thanks for everything :D

  • Upgrade BIOS and drivers have possibly corrupted drive. OS will not boot.

    Model: Toshiba P505-8980
    Part Number: P6PG0U-005002
OS:  Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (upgraded from Home Premium)
    6 gig RAM, 500gig HD
    Actions:
I haven't started up my computer in a while.  First I installed the critical and optional updates (3 total) from windows update, rebooted, and Toshiba Service Center popped up and said that there was the BIOS 3.10 update and the HDD/SSD Alert update.  Through the Service Center I downloaded and installed the BIOS update, at the end it seemed as if there was an error.  I rebooted the computer and everything seemed ok, so I downloaded the HDD/SSD update through the Service Center.  Upon rebooting the drive would not boot.  (Screen remained blank with a blinking cursor and HDD light was not on.)  There are no accessories/USB devices/drives attached.  After a reboot I checked the BIOS and it recognizes the Hard drive, I restored all settings in BIOS to default and rebooted.  The computer started receiving stop errors (blue screen) and stuck in a reboot loop.  I entered the BIOS, restored default settings again and rebooted, I could get to safe mode and it would receive stop errors trying to load disk.sys file.  I also tried last known good configuration and that wouldn't work either.  After a while the laptop was able for me to select to try and repair the disk using the repair utility.  It reported that there may be partition errors (on the last step of recovery) and I selected to repartition the drive to factory default with the Toshiba repair tools.  It got to about 98-99% and received errors at the end.  I tried using a Windows disk to reinstall the OS, but it reported it couldn't install on any of the drive partitions because of an error in the boot configurations.  After trying to repair again it doesn't report any disks or partitions.  Currently after booting it reports now that there is an error that occurred while attempting to read boot configuration.  File: \Boot\BCD|Status: 0xc000000f.  Guessing that the boot sector got corrupted.  After reading that BIOS isn't recommended to be installed while in windows, I'm wondering if using the service center messed something up.
Question 1:  Any recommended actions to take now?  No recovery disk available
Question 2:  Is there a way to configure the service center to download a BIOS update and be able to save it instead of only being able to install it within windows and the service center?
    Thanks in Advance!

I was able to get into system recovery.  This system recovery was different then the first one I came across.  Underneath the Command Prompt option there was a selection for a Toshiba based restore.  That is the one I tried that failed at 98-99%  This system recovery just has the standard options.  At first it showed me the original OS of Home Premium (recovered).  I tried to repair the Home Premium and it still wouldn't work.  "Startup could not repair the problem".  On the many tries the probelms were either "Failed Installation" or "Partition Table".  Then when I tried loading the OS it would blue screen and reboot repeatedly.  So I loaded up Windows 7 Professional from a different CD to at least get the OS working.  I tried Repairing but that didn't work with the same errors, and it also reported that there was no system image on the disk.  I did a Custom (fresh) install and had all items copied to Windows.Old folder.  So now I have an OS, BUT I can't activate it now even with the keys that I have from the old version because it said the key was only used for upgrade, not clean installs.  So now I'm left with trying to find a way to get the original Home Premium image so I can load that and then upgrade since I have the keys I need.  I tried doing repairs again, this time it showed me two Windows 7 Professional and one Windows 7 Home Premium.  Again I tried repairing the Home Premium but it came back with the same errors.  Now all that remains is just the fresh install of Windows 7 Professional that I installed but can't activate with the key.  Anyway I can get/download a factory image from Toshiba?  I only just bought the laptop shortly before Christmas.

  • Audigy 2 Value with Windows Vista 32-

I have a situation where I have the beta driver working for my Audigy 2 Value but Windows does not give me a choice to select a 7. setup. It only allows a mono and 2 channel setup. With the Creative program that came with the driver I was able to select 4., but that leaves 3 of my speakers in my 7. setup useless! Is there any program I can use to configure 7. with Vista, just like how Media Source had?

The DAV-BC50 appears to have only stereo analog input ( pair of L/R RCA jacks). You need a cable with a stereo miniplug on one end and 2 RCA jacks on the other. The soundcard should be set to 2-speaker mode. The DAV-BC50 does not have any way accept discrete multichannel from the soundcard nor to accept encoded AC3/DTS from the soundcard. You can use Dolby Prologic II to get all your speakers going, but you should not use processing when playing DirectSound3D games because it will dilute the intended 3D soundfield produced from 2 speakers.

  • NForce DOS ndis drivers

    Hi,
I was searching the net to find registry settings for the nForce onboard lan drivers, so far no luck....
But I did stumble on these:
    DOS NDIS DRIVERS!!!!!
    Download here.
    Or here (mirror).
I presume they work on all nForce boards.
There is a description on how to use them.
    Have fun with them.

i am upgraded my mobo, this is my first time installing the mobo, i'm upgrading from a previous mobo thats why i installed a fresh copy of XP pro.  I haven't checked the bios to see if its enabled, I didn't think there would be a bios setting that wouldn't allow my ethernet controller to function to work properly.

  • Updating Drivers for Audigy 2

    Hi,
I have a Audigy 2ZS Sound card and I havn't updated the drivers/software in well over a year. I know there are a couple of ways of updating such as using the creative Autoupdate feature or just downloading the drivers exe package. I guess my question which is the preferred method of updating drivers and do I need to uninstall any previous drivers or software?
Another Question I do have, is it always best to upgrade the creative sound card drivers due to fixs, or as I'm not having any real problems is it best to leave the drivers alone?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    sni'ves,
    Thanks you for your reply.
I have just downloaded the latest driver install package, ran the exe and it uninstalled my previous drivers and install the latest ones.
Once I did that I used the Auto Update Acti'veX program and installed all Essential, Critical and some of the Recommend updates which seems to have improved and even fixed some problems I was having. The downloads seemed to go OK, and removed any old software.
By the way is there a way to remove the MediasourceGo from start-up, apart from using msconfig?
    Thanks again,

  • After Win XP repair creative drivers for Audigy 2 not loading correctly

? ?I have read every FAQ I can find on this including http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=287. Which we have tried.
?It's my friends system...so some I am getting by phone...
Friend had something happen to his XP Pro...would not boot(just black screen with cursor and hourglass). He brought it home from repair shop and noticed he was missing his Creative volume control (Which he used to be able to right click and pick a bunch of utilities for calibrating 5. etc.)
We tried uninstalling Creative software and reinstalling...upon reboot, several error messages would pop up (CTRegsvr.reg error, Program could not load because Plxcore.plx cannot be found) would pop up 5 or six times.
The sound works and he appears to be getting 5. surround...he just cannot use any Creative tools or diagnostics.

Ok ill mention the version of the b... drivers as they are called in the download section[url="http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx#"> [/url]

The fact that you dont sprcify the WHQL certification status fools people. I wouldnt have installed this drivers if there would have been stated that they are in fact non WHQL certified ,this meaning some kind of betas.
Is it so hard to finish this new drivers and realease them finished ?

Since a recent (Nov. 9) Microsoft Update suggested Sound Blaster driver update for Windows XP SP2, ostensibly compatible and correct for my hardware, my Audigy MP3+ card hisses loudly and constantly (no popping or crackling). Even when sounds are played through the hiss, the hiss is 80% of the sound. Obviously, something is wrong. I have tried plugging my speakers into various Sound Blaster card audio outputs to no avail. I am unable to successfully, completely uninstall the latest drivers and revert to the original Windows XP drivers supplied on the CD-ROM (circa 2002) despite separately following FAQ guides, uninstalling all drivers in Safe Mode, and reinstalling from my original setup disk. Current drivers from either www.download.com (search "Audigy"), Creative.com's SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe install successfully... but hiss equally. This most recent driver set, self-identified from Creative's homepage, triggers a blue screen of death when?accessing Control Panel/AudioHQ/EAX Control (remarks file CTOSS2K.SYS). I have never used the analog cable, only digital, and see no logic in reverting to an analog solution when digital drivers were working fine prior to Microsoft's troublesome update.Status:

  • Audigy 5 Rx and windows 7 64

I have just purchased the Audigy 5 Rx and windows 7 64 will not install this sound card , I can find in the device manager the Multimedia Audio controller card but when I try to install the drivers windows returns an error in installing them is there a trick or something I am missing , I have tried since Dec 30 with no luck even took the card out and put it back in , I am using a PCIe slot

Look on your CD for a "drivers" folder and then the WDM. You can browse to this in device manager and manually install your drivers by finding your AUDIGY 5, double clicking, then choose update driver, and then browse my computer for driver software. After installing, reboot. Retest the card. I have done this several times over the years when "setup.exe" on the CD wont work.

  • Audigy 2 Value and Windows 7 64bit driver don't work

my first Audigy SE before Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) worked perfect on Windows 7 64bit
with Audigy 2 Value SB0400 i tried 3 drivers , including the beta from the creative support , original and daniel_k driver and after reboot the windows hangs at LOGO and stays there.

Re: SB Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 - Full Package driver?T While Creative has written new drivers and some applications for Windows 7/Vista for the Audigy, they have not re-written or updated all of the original applications on the CD. This card is very old now. What Daniel K. did was take all of the applications or most of them, and tweaked them to properly install and include themselves in the registry on operating systems other than Windows XP. For the full and most recent package, check here:
    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-...009/td-p/53838
If the application you want is not included in his package, then you can try downloading the official Creative version and install it on your system in "compatibility mode" by right clicking the file, and choosing properties, and then the compatibility tab and choosing "Windows XP service pack 2 or 3" and it may or may not function.

  • Audigy 2, spdif dropouts windows 7x64

%Audigy 2, spdif dropouts windows 7x64B hello, i have this problem with dropouts in windows 7, every few seconds the sound pops, there's no problem when listening to a stereo signal through the spdif, only with the dts/ac3 passthrough.
i have searched far and wide for a solution for this problem but it seems fruitless.
i saw a thread regarding this error in vista from last year with no solution found...
does anyone else have this problem nowadays? is there a work around or should i just wait for newer drivers?
now my real question is this, is there a creative soundcard that works as intended in windows 7?
i'm thinking of upgrading but i see many similar threads about the x-fi series, i don't want to spend alot of money and come home with the same problem....
    thanks /Bj?rn

    ) this stuff is bananas
i actually stumbled upon a solution!
i put the ac3codec to wave output, speakers as default output in win7 devices.
now if i just start a movie, the dropouts start clicking, most likely clock-error (jitter)
    BUT!
if i start a mp3 in winamp before the movie that locks my reciever to 96khz stereo, and then start the movie wich shifts it to ac3 movie mode, there's no jitter...
    as i said. bananas.

  • Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7

.Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7? Hello, I am just wondering if it is a known issue to have really loud static and crackling when playing games using this card in Vista or Windows 7. I had this issue playing Bioshock a few months back on my Vista boot. I never figured out a way to resolve it so I belei've I just eventually uninstalled the driver and used the card without a driver install (not sure but I think this what I did). It worked but I might as well of just ran onboard sound...
Now I have installed and tried to run Windows 7 on a dual boot but I started receiving really loud cracking and popping in Warhammer Online and realized I had not installed a driver for my sound card. I did not expect creative to have a Win 7 driver yet but thought perhaps the Vista driver would work in compatibility mode, it does and sounds awesome and really makes me remember what I am missing without my driver installed on Vista but unfortunatly it randomly starts the crackling and popping again after a while...especially when a lot start happening on screen (pvp raids with many characters on screen and magic effects).
When the crackling starts happening I have no choice but to exit the game and restart the computer to get rid of the noise, but randomly it comes back after a while during gameplay. So as a temporary solution I have installed my onboard sound drivers and have been using that for sound output and my mic port on my sound card for my microphone. I would REALLY love to get my sound issues worked out in both Vista and Win 7 because it sounds SOOO awesome while it's working, the popping though is terrible, I never had that issue in XP.
I know this is an older card but any help would be appreciated!?

    68.95.29.2

One thing you do need to learn is that SHOUTING IS MUCH HARDER TO READ!
But, if you are using Audition 1 and it works with XP, then if you have the chance, I'd stick to that on a new machine. Apart from anything else, it's completely untried with Windows7 and with Vista its a) likely to have problems, and b) going to run slower.
The other part of your question about the 'look' of later versions is that 1.5 looks pretty similar to 1.0, but with 2.0 and 3.0 things have changed somewhat - rather more with Multitrack View than Edit View. Basic operating principle remains the same, though - most people have had very little trouble transferring from one to another.

  • Driver for Audigy Advanced MB for windows 2

    Hi,
Will really appreciate if some can provide me a link to download a driver for Audigy Advanced MB for windows 2000
    I am novice in computers.
I had purchased a dell M330 system that came with pre-installed drivers loaded and windows vista.
With the system I got a CD.On the CD it is printed as Sound Blaster..... Audigy...Advanced MB.
I changed my OS to Windows 2000 server, now the problem is there is no sound. I tried to use the CD that came with the system, however, the message informs me that I need to install a sound driver. I don't know which sound card I have; but looking at CD I assumed to be Audigy Advanced MB integrated sound card.
I could not find the driver on the your creative website.
    Can someone help me.
    Thanks

    Can someone pls help. Thanks

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 9

I had lots of trouble installing the Audigy 2 ZS under W98SE. After the final reboot the System used Standard-VGA and the NVIDIA-driver was not accessible to change back to 024x768x32.
There was no error-message during the installation process.
    To exclude the "standard-trouble-shooting"-hints:
It was a "sound-clean" Windows before, no previous sound-driver!
System was up-to-date, used "Windows-Update" before.
    Newest Intel-Chipset-Drivers for the 865PE-chipset.
Newest BIOS for the Asus P4P800-SE-Board.
    No other PCI-Cards.
No IRQ-conflicts before AND after Installation.
Problem occured using both the CD-driver and the driver-update.
I did not lose my CD!
I found two workarounds, but no solution:
. No problem using the VXD-driver; problem seems to be "WDM-driver-exclusi've"
    2. No problem using the WDM-driver, whem limiting the amount of RAM to 5 instead of 52 MB using the MSCONFIG.EXE.
The result of this workaround is a stable and perfect working system with 5 MB of ram. When the limitation is unchecked and the system can use the built-in-52-MB of RAM - the problem re-appears.
Has anybody any idea or is anybody using the Audigy 2 ZS under Windows 98SE with 52 MB of RAM?
    Greetings from Germany!

Technically, there isn't one yet, that's exactly what the rest of us are trying to badger CL into releasing, but given the wait X-fi?user had to go through?I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs

FSoundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs? ?
    Greetings..
Running into a bit of a issue here I can't seem to fix. I've gone through the troubleshooting guides and FAQs already and they aren't resolving the issue.
My normal setup is a couple of desktop speakers plugged to the rear of the card through the standard ports (non-digital) and a headset with mic plugged to the device in front that includes volume controls for both mic and speakers.
I've just did a complete reinstall of Windows XP (32 bit) including everything up through SP3 and a reinstall of the drivers and associated software applications for the card as well.
The problem I am having is that I can no longer make the rear speakers (desktop speakers) play when plugged in. The 2 headset speakers still play just fine that are plugged in the front however.
What should I do to resolve this issue so that I can have both the desktop speakers and headset speakers both playing? I'm fairly sure I'm just missing a setting somewhere but for the life of me I can't figure where to fix this.
    Thank you,
    Culann HS

JRe: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs0 I'm afriad that the CMSS3D option did not work? ? I still cannot get any speakers to play out of the rear of the soundcard.
As I said before, the goal is to try to get sound to play out of both the headset and the speakers attached to the rear of the soundcard simuntaneously.
The headset is plugged into one of those devices in the front that is in a 5 & /4" bay that has the individual knobs for adjusting volume for the headset and outbound levels for the microphone.
The speakers are plugged into the back of the soundcard and do not play any sound in any of the sockets, starting from the firewire port and counting 3 over.
Any suggestions? I? thought it might have something to do with the setting of the speakers from control panel - > Sounds and Audio Devices -> Advanced and picking the right choice there. No luck however. Same for the Creative Speaker Settings as well.
I'm at wits end and I'd be very thankful to whoever can resolve this for me. =)
