NForce 750a and SCP

? I'm getting ready to buy a board that has the nForce 750a SLI chipset. Anyone know if there have been SCP problems with that chipset? I know earlier nForce chipsets, especially the nForce 4 series apparently, had serious SCP issues with the X-Fi. But I thought I read somewhere that the newer nForce chipsets didn't have all the problems. If anyone can enlighten me, I'd appreciate it. :manhappy:
My current board has the VIA K8T890-A chipset, and I have terrible SCP and screeching when trying to use EAX and surround sound while playing LOTRO (the only game I play, so not sure how sound would be with others). Have to go with basic 2. stereo audio to make game playable. It could be the game, but I'm suspicious of the VIA chipset, because I've heard VIAs are a major culprit with these kinds of issues with the X-Fi. I'm hoping an upgraded board and different brand chipset will solve my problems.

I asked previously about the memory voltage recommendation. Have you been able to find out?

Nforce 740a and 750a chipsets

Good day all!
I've posted here before and received excellent help so here I am again. I have a K9N2 SLI Platinum board with an advertised nforce 750a chipset but cpuz recognizes it as a 740a chipset. The reason I am concerned is that I have had some trouble booting the machine. It will on occasion boot normally but for the most part I have to reboot it several times. it seems to hang on detecting the sata hard drive. When it does recognize the drive it hangs at various stages of loading Windows XP. Once however its up and running it seems to function flawlessly. I have found that by removing one of the memory modules that the system seems to boot all the time on the first crack.
I have swapped the ram out in slot 1 and it seems to boot properly if I only use slot 1 for the ram.
I guess I have a couple questions in this reagard:
Could the discrepancy in the chipsets be the culprit? Should I believe cpuz in this matter and should I be talking with MSI about this?
Should I try to install a single 4 gig strip of ram, and try to return the OCZ ram I have now?

K9N2 SLI Platinum nForce 750a AM2+ Windows will not start after loading drivers

Unit started and ran fine after initial Windows XP load.
After loading NVIDIA drivers (supplied with motherboard) unit boots up, shows Windows splash screen, but then screen goes black. Unit continues to run with black screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

UPDATE:
I started Windows in Safe Mode and uninstalled the NVIDIA video drivers. Windows start up fine now, but I still need to work on getting the correct video drivers installed. I'll post my results later.

SOCKS client for solaris for ftp and scp sftp

Hi,
we have a SOCKS 5 proxy server that connects to the Internet and we would like to configure one of our Solaris Zones to be able to ftp,sftp and scp though this proxy server to the Internet.
My questions are:
Is their an inbuild program in solaris that can do this or any good 3rd party apps
We still want to use ftp, sftp and scp normally internally without the SOCKS server = we do not want to scp by default out of the socks server and rather use a command line option to either use SOCKS or not use SOCKS.
What are our options.

Runcluvfy nodecon fails eventhough ssh and scp doesnt ask for password

this is my first attempt to oracle RAC . I configured the ssh gen as shown in documentation without using passphrase
I tested ssh and scp and it do not ask me password .

NForce networking and Thomson SpeedTouch 510

I have an computer with ASUS motherboard. It have an nForce chipset.
The network dies somtmes. How to fix it?

I got this message when I try to restart network after it died.

It Just lost connection to internet. The network dont die... I can acces the modem/router page when it's dead.
It's just wierd.

Hmm, checked with IPs and stuff when it dies.
When I can access the internet my IP in ifconfig is my internet IP. And I can't access the modems config page.
When It's dead I got an local IP and cant access the internet but I can access the router page.
But I don't know why it changes my IP.

How to setup User-level LaunchDaemons and scp/rsync

We are trying to rsync/scp scripts from a Xserve 10.6 (just installed) to an Xserve 10.4, both of which which run scientific models, and transfer output files between systems automatically. These scripts must start automatically on reboot. This is easily done via cron jobs on our older Xserves.
Taking the plunge into converting cron jobs to launchd jobs has, for the most part, gone relatively smoothly. However, I am unable to locate instructions/examples on how to do the following:
While it is possible to set up a LaunchDaemon *.plist on a System(root) level by placing it in /Library/LaunchDaemons, it is unable to do an scp or rsync (without needing the password), because it does not have a root id_dsa.pub installed on the remote Xserve (I really do not want to do that!). An scp/rsync job should be done at the user level.
According to the man pages, there is no such thing as a ~user/Library/LaunchDaemons, only ~user/Library/LaunchAgents, which if I understand correctly, are only executed when the user logs in.
So how do I permit user-level scp/rsync operations (easily done in cron) using launchd?

If a user wants to write a program/script that does an scp/rsync that transfers a file from one host to another (assuming the .ssh keys are properly set up), and put it into a launchd process that executes like it would under a cron (i.e., they do not need to be logged in, and it persists after a reboot), how is this accomplished without using the root-level /Library/LaunchDaemon?
Am I miss-informed that a users LaunchAgents are executed only when the user logs in?
At least in the scientific arena, using a cron to transfer files is a very regular practice. It would be a major headache if the system administrator had to manually add each users launchd files to /Library/LaunchDaemon

ZFS snapshot and SCP

Any one can share the difference between the usage of ZFS snapshot/restoring the data and ordinary SCP to other host.

The idea is that when you create a clone, it is lightweight and based on the snapshot. That's what makes it so fast. You're not copying every block in the filesystem. So the snapshot is what ties together the parent filesystem and the clone.
For the clone to be independent, you'd have to copy all the blocks. There's no option to do that within the clone process. So as long as both the parent filesystem and the clone filesystem are around, the snapshot has to exist as well.

[nForce] GART and freezing

Hello,
I've looked around about this problem and it seems fairly common but no one really knows how to fix it. Basically when I've got the nForce GART driver installed my PC won't even boot into windows. It crashes with a garbelled screen just before the desktop shows. As soon as you remove the GART driver it works fine apart from being in PCI mode so its pretty slow in games.
I've tried various GART versions and VGA card drivers and get exactly the same thing.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Have you installed the mobo drivers that came with your MSI CD? The graphics driver that came with the card? It is better to update from there, if need be. (Should GART be installed separeately for WinXP?!)
Entering PCI mode is a bit funny, is the card properly seated?
Perhaps you should try the graphics forum around here some place, as its an MSI card.

Asa and scp

can I copy the running-config from asa with scp to a linux server ?
I was reading the cli-command guide, but the suggested commandline does not work.

I do not feel this question has been answered in all honesty.
I am working on an ASA 5550 running asa831-k8.bin and can scp files to and from disk0: without any problems.
When I attempt to scp the system:running-config file I get the file succesfully but it contains nothing. On the ASA a "dir system:" shows the running-config file with a file size of 0 bytes but a "more system:running-config" dumps the real contents of the file to the terminal session.
Is there a command to remove the "lock" on this file?
Is there a way to use the archive command to at least archive it to disk0: or some other file system to be pulled via scp? Establishing an IPSEC tunnel from our backup box to every single ASA in our environment for secure tftp would be impossible!

NVRaid for Nforce 4 and Win XP Pro x64?

Well, I just assembled my new box today (Neo4 Platinum SLI is the mainboard) and I was attempting to install Win XP 64-bit. Much to my disappointment, when I went to install the raid drivers I got a message saying they aren't compatable with the x64 edition of Win XP. Does anyone know where I can find some x64-compatable NVRaid drivers? Thanks!

Nforce vcore and spectrum

can somebody explain clearly to me what FSB and AGP spectrum are used for?(related to motherboards only)
does anybody's vcore fluctuate in CPU-z when it is set to a definite value in the BIOS?
mine is set to h/w and it fluctuates(1.5xx), kinda irritating, will setting it to 1.55V make it stable.

On a digital signal, square wave form,
on the high edge and low edge is when data is transmitted. (DDR)
Data is usually a burst of energy (say 5v on high and 0.7v on low) on the low and high ends.
Now sometimes you dont get a nice clean signal, you may get too much. This causes interference and increases EMI.
As the square wave form starts get ripples along it.
So you use a device to spread the energy along the "spectrum" wave form.
It uses FM technology (frequency modulation) to vary the FSB clock speeds, lower the frequency.
So if you get a 6v peak along the signal, you stretch the wave (make the frequency slower), that reduces the height of the peak.
I think that is how it works.
And you would not get a 6v peak, we are talking very small.
Spread Specturm only works for the default signals, 200FSB, 133FSB.
If you overclock, the spreadspectrum feature tries to maintain it to the default speeds.
Which is bad if you are running a 240Mhz FSB.
This also applies to the AGP one.

Is there any problem if I install Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB on MSI K8N Neo Platinum (nFORCE3)? Actually I mean is there problem between nVIDA mainboard chipset and Ati graphic chipset?

MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum nForce 750a Problem

I bought this barebone kit a couple days ago http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4692741&CatId=3508 and I had no troubles, I installed the 4GB Sli-READY 2GB RAM and thought that it wouldn't hurt to have another 4GB. So I bought the same RAM, and installed it, I started to get BSOD when I start programs, or games like "Lineage 2". I tried changing the voltage on DRAM but l can't change it to 1.8v, or 2.1v (2.1v says that the pc might be unstable) so l set it to auto. l also made it [AUTO] for SLI-READY DRAM. l still get BSOD.
Help would be greatly appreciated, the specs on the computer are:
