NFR Agent Crashes Halts Server

I've had a NFR server running for a couple of months now and keep experiencing a server seizure that the only way that I can mange to fix it is to restart the server. Novell File Reporter as installed by a consultant and operationally it runs fantastically except for that it can be a matter of days to a couple of weeks that the server/service stops working. The server is in a VM running Server 2008 R2, 64-bit, 6GB of RAM, 2x 3.6 GHz processors, 80GB of storage.
Usually, what I am finding is that since the server sits on the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen which as a result of whatever my NFR issue is, it becomes unresponsive until I do a restart of the VM, using VMWare ESXI restarting just the Guest doesn't work while this error is active but restarting the VM on the "machine" level works. After restarting I find the service NFRAgent in an error state with the message:
"The description for Event ID 2 from source NFRAgent cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. Youc an install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
01 2013-07-15 08:26:47 - 14400 2 8001 1488 1572 Failed to write to the log file "",RC = 14. Closing log file."
Aside from the references to the log file I'm reading this as a fairly generic error message. Is anyone familiar with these symptoms or error messages that can maybe shed a little light on the error and point me towards a resolution? Thank you!

Is this NFR 1 or NFR 2? If it's NFR 2, there were some issues with
agent crashes which I believe have been resolved in the latest 2.0.1
release from May.

One of our SQL Server started creating SQLDUMP file and and on investigation I found the error longs are filled with Errors 3624 & 17066. There is transnational replication configured on one of the databases is the LogReader Agent is failing error "The

Not sure if both these Assertion & Logreader Agent errors are related. Before I remove and put the replication, I wanted to check if anyone has experienced the same issues or aware of what the cause.

A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for details. Typically, an assertion failure is caused by a software bug or data corruption. To check for database corruption, consider running DBCC CHECKDB. If you agreed to send dumps to
Microsoft during setup, a mini dump will be sent to Microsoft. An update might be available from Microsoft in the latest Service Pack or in a QFE from Technical Support.
    Error: 3624, Severity: 20, State: 1.
SQL Server Assertion: File: <logscan.cpp>, line=2123 Failed Assertion = 'UtilDbccIsInsideDbcc () || (m_ProxyLogMgr->GetPru ()->GetStartupState () < RecoveryUnit::Recovered)'. This error may be timing-related. If the error persists after rerunning
the statement, use DBCC CHECKDB to check the database for structural integrity, or restart the server to ensure in-memory data structures are not corrupted.
    Error: 17066, Severity: 16, State: 1.
External dump process return code 0x20000001.
External dump process returned no errors.
    Thank you in advance.

You need to determine if this error is a transient one or a show stopper one.
It sounds like your log reader agent has crashed and can't continue.
If so your best bet is to call Microsoft CSS and open a support incident.
It also sounds like DBCC CHECKDB was running while the log reader agent crashed.
If you need to get up and running again run sp_replrestart, but then you might find that replicated commands are not picked up. You will need to run a validation to determine if you need to reinitialize the entire publication or a single article.
I have run into errors like this, but they tend to be transient, ie the log reader agent crashes, and on restart it works fine.

  • CCMS configuration question - more than one sapccmsr agent on one server

    Hello all,
this might be a newbie question, please excuse:
We have several SAP systems installed on AIX in several LPARs. SAP aplication server and SAP database is always located in different LPARs, but one LPAR can share application server of several SAP systems or databases of several SAP systems.
So I want to configure SAPOSCOL and CCMS-Agents (sapccmsr) on our databse LPARS. SAPOSCOL is running - no problem so far. Due to the circumstance that we have DBs for SAP systems with kernel 4.6d, 6.40 (nw2004), 7.00 (nw2004s) I want to use two different CCMS-Agents (Version 6.40 non-unicode to connect to SAP 4.6d and 6.40 + Version 7.00 unicode to connect to SAP 7.00).
AFAIK only one of these can use shared memory segment #99 (default) - the other one has to be configured to use another one (e.g. #98) but I don't know how (could'nt find any hints on OSS + Online Help + CCMs-Agent manual).
    Any help would be appreciated
    regards

    Hello,
has really no one ever had this kind of problem? Do you all use either one (e.g. windows) server for one application (e.g. SAP application or database) or the same server for application and database? Or don't you use virtual hostnames (aliases) for your servers, so that in all mentioned cases one CCMS-Agent on one server would fit your requirements? I could hardly believe that!
    kind regards

How to Enable Lync Windowphone agent on Lync Server 2010 ?

Can you please elaborate. Do you mean to enable a Lync user to use the Lync Mobile Client for Windows mobile devices in a Lync 2010 environment?
If so, in Lync 2010 there is no special enable setup other than allow the user to have remote access. Of course the MCX service needs to be working.
    Look forward to more details

    Hello,
What are the conflicts if I installed 10g agent on the server that 9i agent already occupy. I want to use 9i and 10g OEM. Thank you in advance.

I dont believe you will have any issues. They are very different. The 10g agent goes in its own home and has its own binaries running against the db.

  • What is this agent in remote server

    Hello
I am really not able to understand when experts are talking
    1. "you need to create agent in remote server"
What I understand: creating standalone agent in remote means, we need to install ODI there 1st. then we will configure the standalone agent. without installing ODI how can we create one agent?
    Am I right?
2."using this agent you run your job that can process file in remote"
What I understand: How could I access this remote agent in local system. In my local system I have configured one agent but this for my local system. So should I create another agent in my local which one point to my remote server (I mean i need to give remote master repository credentials.).
    Please help.

Am I right? What you need is to do , choose Agent install only option when installing ODI at remote system. This will create the needed files/scripts etc on that remote system . Then you need to invoke ODI topology and create a agent . Specify remote system's details here .
Login to your remote system ,. find the scripts needs to be run for the agent , execute the same .
From topology , try to test the agent running on remote , you should get a success messege which means your remote agent is up and running.

So should I create another agent in my local which one point to my remote server (I mean i need to give remote master repository credentials.).ODI designer connects to repository and finds the Agent related information.
While running the job it will prompt you to choose the agent available .
Ofcourse the systems shold be connected via LAN .

    Hi,
Actually i have installed client components on my system....and ODI server component(agent) on my target instance.....now how can i configure the agent on my target server so that it can be used my multiple users.....how can i create a scheduler agent on my target server to be used from multiple cleint machines for scheduling.......
say i have started the my agent on target server......do i have to eidt the odiparar.bat file on the target server also.....
    Thanks in advance....
    Edited by: user4315565 on Jan 26, 2010 1:52 PM

    cezar,
Yes..i will create a logical agent pointing to the scheduling physical agent....
for physical agent: do i have to run the agent first or create it in topology manager first....
    1) first run the below script on SRV1.
    agentscheduler.sh -port=20911 -name="MY_SCHEDULER_AGENT"
    2) create a physical agent in topology manager with same name:
    Name = "MY_SCHEDULER_AGENT
Host : IP address of SRV1
    Port = 20911
    sessions = 10(as requiored)
    and test the connections...
    3) configure Odiparam.sh file on SRV1 with master and work rep details....
    3) create logicla agent and point to MY_SCHEDULER_AGENT we created....
are these steps correct ...i am confused between steps 1 and 2 which one to complete first.....is it 1 and 2 (or) 2 and 1
    Thanks

You should see little message on the console from that point on unless you use the admin tool or you start oc4j with some debugging/profiling flags or something serious has happened.
05/11/02 09:53:44 log4j:ERROR Could not find value for key log4j.appender.errorThis error is unlikely to be related to oc4j. You may start oc4j with one more java option:

  • Forced or abrupt (crash etc) server shutdown detected, starting recovery

    Hi,
I have encountered following error message in server.log of Oracle10gAS ver 10.1.2.0.2.
"Forced or abrupt (crash etc) server shutdown detected, starting recovery process..."
I got this message when I was pushing 1000 xml requests to a receiving servlet in Oracle10gAS Ver. 10.1.2.0.2. Out of 1000 requests, few of the request were not being reached to the receiving servlet. I amm hoping the problem would be becuase of the server being restarted automatically.
Could anybody who had faced this problem help me out as this is a showstoper and needs to be resolved ASAP.

    hi chchang,
Have you solved your problem? If so, please let me know the solution.
Since im facing the same sort of problem. But in out case, the forced shutdown operation occurs frequently (within 10 -15 mins).

    Hi Peter,
    PeterSteiner wrote:
*"Insuficient security privilege to load module.Agent in remote server contex"*This has nothing to do with the security of the root user you're logging in as. Every Agent you install shares security with a single SunMC Server: although out-of-the-box it's visible (read-only) to other SunMC Servers. What that error message is telling you is that the Agent thinks the Server you logged into (i.e. from the Java Console or web interface) isn't the same primary Server the Agent shares security keys with. So it gives you read-only access... so you can see the existing modules but not load new ones.
Look at the "Info" tab for that Agent in the Console. There's trap and event sections. Those sections show the hostname/IP that the Agent thinks is its primary Server. You likely logged into the wrong Server (if you have more than one) or the Agent is configured incorrectly.
If the Agent is pointing to the wrong hostname/IP as its server you can re-run setup on that Agent, or edit the trap+event sections of the /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/domain-config.x file and reseed/restart.

SNMP agent was enabled in job server. Since it is enabled, we cannot access windows SNMP agent. Windows SNMP and DS SNMP is using the same ports 161.  We have an application which shows all the statistics of all the servers, but for DS server it not showing all the statistics.
So we are planning to disable the SNMP agent in job server. Is there any implications if i disable the SNMP agent?

It should not create any issues.

  • CFquery crashes SQL server

We have just run into an instance where any query to a
SQL2000 db locks up the SQL server (by consuming all the
resources), which eventually causes the server to crash.
Our web host (intermedia.net) told us that the problem is
selecting a field designated as nvarchar(1) is the cause of the
    problem.
Since we use this same select on identical databases at the
more than 100+ sites we host at intermedia.net, and have no
problems with those sites, we think there is a problem at
intermedia.net. Of course, they say no, it is a program problem.
But I wrote a 3 line test program that simply tries to open
the database with a select *, and it still crashes the server.
Any suggestions about what settings in CF or SQL2000 that
would cause all DB queries to lock up SQL?
    Thanks for any help

    > wrote a 3 line test program that simply tries to open
    the database
    > with a select *, and it still crashes the server.
Have you tried running this simple query in Query Analyzer
    looked at the results?
Is it possible for you to write a simple test script that
    does not bring down the
    sql server?
Perhaps this may simply be a driver issue?
    Good luck!

    Jean,
It looks like this is most likely your issues. Please give it a try and see if it resolves the problem.
    Possible Causes
The Management Servers default action account does not have the necessary privileges (administrator) to open the root certificate store.
    Resolutions
Set the Action Account for the Manage Server(s) as a local administrator account
Configure a local administrator account in the Run As Profile: Certificate Signing Profile
If the Certificate Signing Profile is configured, the action account associated in that profile will be used. If not, it will fall back to the default Action Account
