NFS does not recognize security mode
Hello,
I want to add kerberos authentication to nfs.
The kerberos client works, since I can authenticate principals and gt tickets.
The keytab file for nfs/my.host looks like it should as described in the sysadmin manual.
-bash-3.00# klist -k
Keytab name: FILE:/etc/krb5/krb5.keytab
KVNO Principal
5 nfs/[email protected]
Mounting volumes without a security mode is no problem.
I have changed the /etc/nfssec file to look like this (also according to the sysadmin manual):
krb5 390003 kerberos_v5 default - # RPCSEC_GSS
krb5i 390004 kerberos_v5 default integrity # RPCSEC_GSS
krb5p 390005 kerberos_v5 default privacy # RPCSEC_GSS
I have restarted network/nfs/server to make the changes take effect.
Now, when I want to share a volume I get an error message:
#share -F nfs -o sec=krb5 /export/testvolume
share_nfs: Invalid security mode "krb5"

make sure krb5 is not commented out in /etc/nfssec.conf

My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode, but when I connect it to my computer to restore it, my computer does not recognize it. It does not appear as a device in my iTunes. What can I do to restore it/make my computer recognize it?
DId it successfully connect to this computer before?

Did you try recovery mode? Hold down the home button as you connect it to iTunes. iTunes should pop up a window that says "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode" and give you the option to restore.

Windows Security Suite does not recognize Verizon Internet Security Suite
Windows Secuity Suite does not recognize that the Verizon Internet Security suite on one of my PC's is running and keeps popping up aWindows Security Alert. The Firewall is enabled within Verizon Internet Security suite.
My other PC's don't have this issue.
All PC's are running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Any ideas?

Markwell that error message is saying that Windows security center no longer supports the way that the VISS is reporting. Which means that even though VISS is working and it is even reporting its status to WSC. WSC doesnt recognize it anymore. Likely one of the windows updates made the change. I can see the fight comming now. Verizon is going to say. Its working and if the other program doesnt support it, too bad. And windows is going to say the same thing in reverse. My guess would be that it will probably stay that way unless Verizon or Microsoft get enough complaints to make a change in the recognition system.
But the good news is that VISS is running and protecting you. The WSC just doesnt "speak the same language" anymore and cant understand the message from VISS saying "I'm up and running"

I plugged my iphone in to do an update and it was mid way through the update when the phone was accidentally disconnected. Now the phone is stuck on the screen that shows a cable and the iTunes image suggesting the phone needs to be plugged in to iTunes. I have plugged it in, powered on and off, attempted to enter DFU mode numerous times all with no success. ITunes does not recognize the phone and I continue to only receive the screen saying I need to plug in to iTunes.. Please help!
Hold Sleep Button with Home Button toghether until it restarts Always it takes 8 to 15 seconds, after it restarts leave the sleep button and remember do not leave the home button it automaticlly switches to DFU mode.

I downloaded the latest version of itunes. I am now getting the message that my ipod is in recovery and needs to be restored. When I click to restore, it says it does not recognize this device. Now my ipod is frozen with an image of a cord and an arrow pointing toward the itunes icon. All was working fine before the download!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

eBay has a new security feature when attempting to e-mail a seller; it requires that you enter a numerical code in a box. When on Firefox eBay does not recognize that I've entered the number and keeps telling me to enter the number but when on IE it recognizes the number. What add-on, etc do I need to make Firefox compatible with eBay? Thanks

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

Hi. Last night I left it updating 5.1.1 from 5.1 when I was going to bed. And at night I heard usb noise and woke up. iTunes had an error, I did not remember what is written there because I was sleepy. I think it was like 1612 error but I'm not sure. There were an itunes logo and an usb wire on the phones screen. And I cant get rid of it. iTunes does not recognize the phone in "DFU mode" too. I need the phone today and I dont know what to do. I had a friend replace the battery in my iphone 4 and now itunes does not recognize it. The phone just has the apple coming on and off on the scree.
I put it into restore mode last night but did not apply it because I would lose all of my data.Any suggestions on what I can do.

Is there some background story to this that might give us some clue? An error message quoted exactly? Did you just do an update?
Try starting iTunes with the shift key held down. If it starts it is probably some old plugin presenting problems.
