NFS Provider on Sol 10?
Did the NFSv3 dtrace provider ever get implemented on Solaris 10? If so in which release?
Same question for v4.
There is no dtrace nfs providers for Solaris 10 and they are only available in Solaris 11.

Gagandeep sharmaThis could have any number of causes. Maybe the image size was changed, or the coordinate system did not carry over after an Image Copy, or Image save. More datails would be helpful to make a better determination.

Cannot open file, Photoshop is not compatible with this version of photoshop. 2 weeks
This has been a problem for almost 2 weeks now. Cant save any work in photoshop, files are unretrievable once closed. I get the same error message. I spent all of last week online with Adobe Tech support, screen sharing conference etc, now iMac isnt working properly. AAARRFGGHH.
Same prob on iMac and new Macbook pro
Last week Adobe via screen share uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop, took a few hours and still nothing. I have lost many hours work here. Cant reach Adobe and I am really pissed off. Cant reach a human via the support emails they aren't working. I have asked to speak to a Programmer or Manager for help with this and I have received none!

I should add that last night I tried to contact Adobe to see what the hold up was. I went and tried to open up the case file (No it had not been withdrawn and was still active), but it would not open. So, I started up a new support file with a whole new case number, I received an email this morning from Adobe saying that I would have to communicate with them through the original case #. Went to respond to this email today and the NEW case file had been withdrawn.
Yes, I have read all the user forums on this stuff for months, NO I am not using any Anti Virus stuff, No I did not upgrade my Macs at the time of the prob appearing! Thanks

Create standby DB with RMAN backup in Oracle 9.2.0.6
I am tring to create a standby DB in different host with different directory using RMAN. The commandv with which I tried to create the standby database is the follow:
(in the primary server side)

The standby database is in a different host with the same directory structure. I started (with nomount option) with the same init file that the primary database.
I read solution like the backupset must be copied manually to the standby host, but for me is not a solution.

PS. Sorry my bad english because I am from Latin AmericaRequirements are:
1 the backup should be accessible to both target and auxiliary database in the same location.
2 On Unix this can be arranged through NFS, provided you set the read and write buffer to 32k.
Obviously the backup can not be located in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs, as you can not mount a NFS directory over $ORACLE_HOME/dbs without loosing functionality.

This problem pertains to Asset accountign and internal order accounting.
A Capex is made. A settlement rule is defined in the capex wherein the CAPEX is to be settled against the asset under category - AIP- P&M.
While trying to settle the CAPEX against the asset, we are getting a message that I can not post to the asset
The error message coming is AA834 & the message is "The transaction type entered belomgs to transaction type group 15. It has been specified for this transaction type group, that it is only allowed to post to asset classes for which it has been explicitly allowed (for example, the asset class for assets under construction). The asset to which you are posting belongs to class PM-501 (chart of depreciation DEIL). You cannot post to this asset class using the transaction type entered."
Please suggest as to why the system is not allowing to post. Where in SAP we are restricting to post settlement only for asset under down payment.
Also, please suggest the possible way out.

In sm37 i know the job name , it is executing for every 5 mins, and that is interrupting , and causing me huge prblm.
my basis person suspended the job , but that is started executing again from yesday.
I found that job name in sm37 like below

more than that m not getting any additional info abt it..
I can say this is the job that is interrupting R3 transaction

Report - RSBATCH_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG is shceduled in BW every particular minutes to write an application log ,this report is having job name BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG .
This report must neither be descheduled nor deleted, as long as BW is working live, because otherwise any error messages that appear are not written to the application log.
This log files can grow large (intensive read on table
TBTCO and TBTCB ),especially logs from Job BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG and might impact some of the performances like system slow down.
Check unused Job logs with Report RSBTCDEL2 and clean out if

The scenario is by mistake i created the wrong business partner and put the opening balance with the help of A/P Invoice but i want to remove that Business partner its not allowing me to do that and i have also created the credit Memo of that Business partner to reconcile the amount so now the Business Partner amount is zero but still its not allowing me to remove the Business partner
Please Provide the sol as soon as possible

in version 8.8 you can set the BP as 'inactive' & then it will not be shown in the choose from list. Please see SAP Note [1411244|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1411244].

Client has asked for creating some 200-300 new GL accounts inspite of 1K codes are already there in the system. Now the thing is his new requirement is based on business angle e.g. Rent a/c, Rent income, rent parking......
Now can we provide a sol like creating of business area & making it mandatory at the time of input against the existing GLs or if there is any solution in your mind, Please do let me know.

I guess the client wants to see reports based on various functions. You can try using functional area functioanlity within SAP. for that you will have to activate Cost of Sales accounting.
The functional area can be assigned to any GL account and more than one GL accounts and individual line items can be assigned to various functional areas based on defined rules.

I have made a A/R Invoice for 5 books and dispatch it to customer. After one month custoemr is returning one book, if we trying to return it back through Return it is not showing the A/R Invoice it is only showing Delivery Note.
How it can be against the invoice generated for that item.
Pls. provide the sol. or any work around.Once a document is Invoiced you could only issue a Credit Memo. A return referencing an Invoice could not be created. Depending on whether the Invoice is paid or not you could do one of 2 things.
If the Invoice is paid, create a Return for that Item .........this will reduce your COGS and increase Inventory by putting it back to stock. If you want to credit the customer for this book then copy Return to Credit Memo.
If the Invoice is Open then copy only one item to Credit Memo ...........a Credit Memo does 2 things one return the items to stock and also credits the customer for that item

Partitioning Strategy - Pls provide the best sol

We are using Oracle 10.1.0.5. We have a table containing slightly more than 4 million records. The table is currently partitioned on a column called PRODUCT_ID (possible values : LLU, WLR3, WLR2 with more or less equial distribution) and whenever a feed coms our ETL process works for individual products, i.e. a merge statement works for say LLU one then WLR3 once etc. For each product the process executed four times in a day. So, the design is working fine from a ETL process prespective. Now we have another column called DUNS_NUM which is a alphanumeric column (business wise equivalent as customer id). Now users makes most of the query using the DUNS_NUM column. We have a GLOBAL index on DUNS_NUM column, but still the proformance is not that satisfied as it is working on a full table instead of any partition.
I have one solution in my mind of duplication the table's data into another table where HASH paritition will be there on the DUNS_NUM column and this table will be used for reporting. After every operation in the main table data will be merged in this table. But there is two negative points as well for this :
1. Data duplication
2. Extra process overhead
There no HASH-LIST or LIST-HASH composite partition possible on the version of Oracle we are using. So want can be the best way out in this situation.

KoushikI'm just wondering here a little bit. You say this DUNS_NUM is something like a customer_id and you have an index on this column. If this is really like a customer_id, then you should get a very good response time as this sould result in a index access and table acces. It should not matter if this is the whole table or just a partition.
Could you provide a execution plan (probably including the table and index statistics)?
A hash partition (in addition to the existing list partition) will not help you for this select problem. Hash means randomly distributed data over the hash partitions. The records are still in the whole table, it is not buying you anything here.
What you could try to do is grouping these DUNS_NUM, may be according to a mapping function or grouping the customers according to business requirements.
Anyway I think you should have a good performance with the existing data structure. -
Duplicate Song sol'n w/o losing playlists? Apple please provide feedback.
Will this work?
1. Export playlists to Desktop.
2. Delete all songs from iTunes library.
3. Re-import all songs to iTunes library.
4. Import playlists.
In doing 1-4, I think I can successfully delete all duplicates and maintain my playlists, however, I am hesitant to try it without comfirmation.

If it appears that the same exact file is appearing twice in iTunes, or a copy of the same song file appears twice (e.g. "song.mp3" and "song 1.mp3", then you can use a program I wrote to delete duplicates. Download the zip here:

The question is where to put the disks that will contain the database proper. There will be only one Oracle server associated with the data on these disks. This is not a distributed DB application of any kind. It is a single server app having sole access to it's data disks.
Our IS group is proposing to use NAS (network attached storage) like a netapp filter which would provide NFS access via it's own OS. Access to the filter would be via 1 or more copper gigabyte connections. The network itself wiould be shared by other users in a large engineering group.
The alternative is to mount the disks directly onto the server itself... no network.
My concern is that the networked approach will be noticably slower than the local mount, especially where network loads can be unpredictable and heavy at times in the engineering group at large. But I have no experience or data to support the fear that it'll be ~that~ much slower.
The activity on our DB is...
DB loading done by C/SQL programs loading large volumes of data, all day long.
DB reads also done by DB loaders (as part of their normal operation) but most important, end users query during normal work hours with many moderately sized queries involving several table joins and retrieval of perhaps a few hundred records.
Does anyone have any experience the performance differences between locally mounted RAID arrays and networked disks?
Does anyone have any before/after stats that may shed some light on what we can expect in the area of performance degredation?
P.S. I had previously posted this message in "Database General" but expect that it should have been posted here in stead.Just out of Morbid Curiousity- If you get info on those Firewire drives- do they have the "ignore Permissions...." box checked.
