NFS server from Solaris 10 Not supported in OVM 3.1.1 ?

Iam trying an POC system with OVM. Cust has an existing Solaris 10 NFS server.
Trying to use it as repository , but would not find any shares when discovering file servers.
Am running OVM 3.1.1 , Any pointers.

Should work fine.. Check your export and permissions on the volume/directory your exporting as NFS.

Is there any server from vmware which supports OSGI and works similar to all functionalities of vFabric tc server?

Hi,
We have currently built web applications which are in complience with OSGI and runs on FUSE ESB. Recently we have gone through vFabric tc server which is based on open source Apache tomcat. Is there any other server from vmware which supports OSGI and works similar to all functionalities of vFabric tc server?
I am not sure whether this is the right place to post this question. Please let me know if i have to post this question anywhere else?

Per my understanding that you are doing the migration from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 and now you are re-creating the 3500 subscriptions in the SSRS 2008, so you want to the new created subscription in SSRS 2008 will be pause and not execute at this time, right?
Generally, we have several method to pause the subscription processing, please reference to details information below:
When you created an subscription, an new Sql Server Agent job will be created too, so you can you can just uncheck the 'enabled' checkbox in the job properties as below to disable the execution of the job,you can also stop the SQL Server Agent Services

I am trying to execute a stored procedure and store its result in an excel.

When you insert data from SQL Server into a linked server, then a distributed transaction should be started and here it seems this fails.

The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS.

I am currently trying to upgrade to SQL 2014, I am using a separate UAT domain to perform the upgrade before applying the upgrade to Dev domain. I can install a clean instance of SQL 2014 DBE and MDS on the same server, create a new database and point
IIS to it and it works fine. When I backup and restore the database to another upgraded or clean install instance on another server I get the following.
The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS.
It is enterprise edition of SQL 2014 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
Any ideas of how I can fix this ?

Firstly, please note, Master Data Service(MDS) is only available in the following editions of SQL Server 2014:
Enterprise
Business Intelligence
Developer
Secondly, let me explain you how SQL Server check whether the SKU is supporte for MDS.
MDS object model(where the application host) get the connection string(from the web application request)
Extract instance name from the connection string. If the connection string only has server name, the instance is the default one "MSSQSERVER"
Call Sqlboot to check whether MDS is enabled in the specified instance
So, there may have some possible causes for the error you posted:
The connection string points to a instance that is not existing
The specified instance is not a SQL Server 2014 instance
The MDS application is upgraded to 2014, however the SQL Server service is still in a low version in the same machine
The corresponding solution is:
Ensure the server, which is running MDS application, has SQL Server 2014 installed
Ensure the instance is existing, and it is 2014 version
Ensure it is a right edition of course

How do i delploy on hosted server which does not support crystal. Is RAS ?

have to put a solution on a public hosted server. it does not support crystal . cannot add to GAC
if i use RAS(or cr 2008 server) on another server . Web app works on public server but points to my RAS server. Do I still need components on the public server. if I do this will not work,
any ideas

many thanks. there is some tendancy to cloud hosts. all you get is ftp access and .net ompersonation.
just drop the webisite in. so no MSI use which also rules out merged modules

SQL 2014 - current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS

Hi,
we've installed SQL Server 2014 on a Windows 2008 R2 server with a namde instance for the database service.
We also installed MDS 2014 on a different server and configured it with the MDS database on de before mentioned database server.
The configuration gives no error, but when I go to the MDS site, I receive the error in the title.
We installed CU #3 on both servers, but that didn't fix it.
In related articles a possible solution is using a default database instance, but since we can't work with that, that's not really an option for us.

Do you know what's licensing you are using? Any chances you are using "Enterprise Edition: Core-based Licensing".
We fixed a similar issue in CU4. The symptom is same as "SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS".

How to update a server from Solaris 10 MU6 to Solaris 10 MU8

Hi guys,
I've a problem here that it should be easy to solve for some GURU experts like you :-)
I've a server with Solaris 10 10/08 (Update 6) and I need to go to Solaris 10 10/09 (Update 8).
Looking at Release note and other relevant Sun documentation doesn't provide a clear method to upgrade from MU6 to MU8.
Three things are important here:
1) I need to preserve data and applications, so this MUST BE an upgrade, not a FRESH INSTALL
2) we don't have a CD/DVD in the server.
3) we have LDOMs installed on this server (the Guest Domain and the Logical Domains need to be patched).
Can anybody tell me if this is possible and if there is any good document describing it?
P.S. - unless the solution provided into the article "http://blogs.sun.com/patch/entry/solaris_10_10_08_patch" is the only one, I would prefer an update and not a patch.

My guess is that you have already completed this upgrade, but in the event that you haven't I recommend that you use NFS to either mount a DVD from another server or else copy the OS DVD to a local drive on a server that has a DVD drive and then NFS mount the file system on the server you are trying to upgrade. I use NFS fairly often for upgrades and for patching. I have one server that has a file system that contains the source code from the installation DVD and another file system that contains the most current patch cluster.

Connecting to SQL Server from Solaris using Perl & Oracle.

Using the DBI.pm provided by the default Perl package that comes integrated with Oracle server, I am being able to connect to the Oracle database through Perl.
But is there a way I can connect to SQL Server through Perl using any package provided by Oracle like ODBC or something else (on Solaris)
I am using following version of Oracle server on Solaris 10
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production

The problem is I cannot install any third party package but I found something. Have a look at this:

Can no longer send mail after upgrade. Says server needs password. Server says down not support a password. Any thoughts?

UPDATE: I was able to set up the account using Eudora, and it worked fine. I guess it means that there's something funny happing with Mail.

Sun AppServer 9.0 Update 1 on Solaris not supporting form-based auth

Ok, I installed Appserver 9 on a Solaris box and then started up the default domain1. When I point the browser to http://localhost:4848 I am not pointed to the login page for the admingui, it just bypasses the authentication and I am allowed to perform all admin actions without logging in. I then deployed a custom web application that uses form-based authentication that works correctly on Sun Appserver 8.1. However it behaves the same way as the admingui application (I am not presented with a login page). After setting some of the log levels to FINEST and looking at the logs it appears that when these requests are coming in they are not matching any constraint (but the constraints are defined in the web.xml). Installing Appserver 9 on a win2k box does not have this issue. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there some security setting that is not turned on by default from the solaris install????

Ok if anyone is interested I was able to fix my problem. It looks like the issue is the version of java used with Appserver 9 on Solaris. The latest version of java i have on the machine is Java 1.5.0_06, but everytime I try to install the Appserver with this version it hangs at 39% into the installation. The next latest version of Java i have on the machine is 1.5.0_02, so that is the version I was using to install and the install works perfectly. However, after the install the form-based authentication does not work with this version of Java on Solaris.
They way I fixed this was to modify the asenv.conf file in the Appserver_Install dirrectory to point to the Java 1.5.0_06 installation and started the domain, now the form-based authentication is working as expected.
I guess my question now is does anyone know why I can't install the server with Java 1.5.0_06? But it looks like I need that version to actually run things correctly.

FTP server: PORT command not supported??

In a nutshell - we are trying to set up PASV -- PORT connection between a Tiger server (10.4.11) and another system (say it's a windows FTP server). Issuing a PORT command to a Tiger FTP server fails with this error:
-> PORT 192,168,11,3,199,158
<- 500 Invalid PORT command
I have done some research on the web and as far as I can see - this is just a feature that is disabled in Mac OS X ftp server.
What's strange is that "features" command states that PORT is supported.
Has anyone seen PORT command work for a Tiger Server ftp daemon?
Has anyone succeeded enabling this command on a Tiger server?
Can you recommend another FTP server that works well on a Tiger server?

Passive (PASV) and Port (PORT) mechanisms are orthagonal.
If you're working with PORT, then you're almost certainly trying to clear through one or more firewalls. And a firewall can also trigger the Illegal Port Command error for a PORT command.
(Though I don't see a PORT command in the Mac OS X ftp client. I've checked a couple of clients, and it isn't common to expose it.)
ftp is a mess. Insecure, difficult to configure, insecure, firewall unfriendly, insecure, and slow. And did I mention insecure?
(No, I'm not a big fan of ftp.)

Palm Pre - The mail server requires policies not supported

Downloaded the new update (1.0.3) for the Pre and still no closer to getting my email from my company. Worked fine on the Samsung Instinct, but no such luck here. Frustrated. Any ideas anyone?
