NHL Center Ice ch#5 (1479)

Has anyone been having trouble watching games on NHL5 of the center ice package?  On 11/01/09 the San Jose vs Carolina game didn't appear on the screen.  The channel was there, just the programming schedule for NHLci. It couldn't have been blocked out in my area (Indiana).  I contacted tech support. After an hour of getting nowhere, they finally determined that there may have been an issue with the feed from the broadcasting network.  Consequently, I missed the entire game.  Tonight I tuned to the same channel and low in behold that game EDM vs NYI was missing, too.  Not that I wanted to watch this game, but when you pay $163 for a package, you should be able the games!!!!!  I contacted tech support this time via email....didn't want to spend an hour on the phone resetting my boxes.....like that will help!!!!
So, is anyone else having problems with NHL center ice channel 5?

ncacia,
NHL Ice is not available in Mercer county due to blackout restrictions per the NHL. Our apologies

  • NHL Center Ice + NHL Gamecenter Live???

hi! I am a huge hockey fan...lots of my Canadian friends whom are on SHAW, TELUS and BELL in Canada are buying NHL Center Ice, and along with their purchase of Center Ice, they get a FREE subscription to NHL Gamecenter LIVE which is the online service provided by the NHL...you can watch games on your computer and mobile devices (iphone, ipad, PC..etc)...so, my question is, why can't we as Comcast subscribers get the same deal??....I think it would be a matter of Comcast getting the LOGINS for Gamecenter directly from the NHL....also, I sure hope Comcast will increase the number of HD channels for Center Ice this year...only 2 HD channels...I hear Directv has almost all the games in HD...kind of a joke..this is 2010! any insights? Thanks!

hey Blackhawk, i've been going 'round and 'round with Comcast about NHL Center Ice since Comcast only has TWO HD channels here in 2010.  I'm near Detroit and I paid for the package plus HD box and was excited for the season to start since i bought a new HD tv.  They have repeatedly told me "we are working on it" in terms of converting all channels to HD...this is a bunch of BS to me...what does it take? satellite tv has EVERY NHL and other sports in HD.  If i had known this before i would not have ordered Center Ice...if you look at blogs all over the internet, you will see it's up to the Cable provider to give you an HD broadcast...Comcast just chooses NOT to.  I keep insisting there is no way in *ell ALL the games are not being shown in HD by the network broadcasting the games.  We are simply not getting what we pay for...and it's very expensive at that...COME ON COMCAST, GET WITH IT!!!

  • NHL Center Ice/ Customer Service issues

This has been an ongoing issue for some time now and I'm ready to toss Verizon out the window over it. For the last few years I've been subscribing to the NHL Center Ice package. Pretty expensive.
All the games televised over multiple channels are choppy and missing frames. Very hard to watch. I call for help and they say nothing is wrong on Verizon's end. They send a repair guy. He notices the problem. Replaces all my equipment. Problem remains. He closes the ticket (after he leaves).
I call again. Ticket is closed so the process starts again. Verison wants to send another repair person. I let them come. They notice the problem, replace equipment, leave. Close the ticket. So far my set top box has been replaced 5 times. All my wiring replaced. The fiber box. The whole nine yards. Problem remains.
I called yesterday again (season just started) and I bet you can guess what they wanted to do. I'm at my wits end. All my other channels are fine. I talked to a manager at a FIOS store and he says well it's obvious the signal strength of that channel range is weak in your area. Easy to fix. I tell that to the techs on the phone and I get absolutely no help. As I see it I have a responsibilty to pay for the service and Verizon has the responsibility to fix my issues. Though they admit to seeing a problem they refuse to fix it. Any suggestions?

  • How do I cancel NHL Center Ice Subscription?

If you were signed up for NHL Center ICe last year, they are automatically renewing you for this year unless you opt out.  Well I haven't been able to opt out.  Does anyone know how to do this?
I tried talking to 2 different customer service representatives.  The first guy said he will do it as soon as we upgrade my plan because my old plan doesn;t exist anymore.  Then after we did that, he said he couldn't help me and had to transfer me.  THe next person refused to even look at my account because I didn;t have my account number, amount of last bill and 5 other things.  I asked her why the first guy didnt ask and she never responded then the chat window closed on me.
SO could someone please tell me how to do this because Verizon employees are **bleep** worthless.

Yes, that's where the directions say to go and where the reps tried to walk me thlrough, but the links they told me to click on weren't there.  They were clearly reading off a script because they were giving me word for word the same directions in the original e-mail, and those links are not there.

  • MLB Extra Innings = NHL Center Ice

I'm sure this questions has been asked before, but I could not find it doing a search.  Do you receive NHL Center Ice games for free during baseball season when you subscribe to MLB Extra Innings?
We are watching the free preview and it seems that the standard definition channels (SD) are better than last year - less pixalation and freezes.   The strange thing about Extra Innings is that there are 3 games on right now on the SD channels and no games on the HD channels.  All games are telecast in HD.  You would think there would always be a game on in HD if available.
Do you contact InDemand or Verizon to subscribe to Extra Innings.  We have had so many billing problems with Verizon that I'm afraid to make any changes to our service.  It took 5 months to get our billing correct and it has been OK now for the past 4 months.
    Thanks,

DCJ the MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice are setup like standard Pay Per View events. For example if you called and ordered a Boxing match the Set Top Box is authorized to show the broadcast stream for the time frame and channel the boxing match is being shown. The idea is similar with MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice except the authorization periods automatically activate for each game over the season without you having to order it ever time for every game. So to directly answer your question, you will not see NHL Center Ice games for free during baseball season even though they show the games on the same channels because it's only authorizing you to see the games shown at certain time intervals.
As far as ordering. It is my Understanding you can order through iN Demand or Verizon.

  • NHL Center Ice Payments

I hope I put this in the right blog.
I have subscribed to NHL Center Ice for many years on a different cable system. We were always allowed to spread the payments over four months. Verizon for some reason wants the payment spread over three months. DirectTV, Charter Cable, and Cox Cable allow four months. If you go on the IN Demand website it says the payments are spread over four months.
When I call Verizon no one can explain to me why its that way only with them..."That's what it is"
    What gives Verizon?

    Fred-
For some reason VZ seems to have trouble with split billing. I went through the same thing last year, only in the end to be told - "we can't offer you the multi-payment option".
I bit the bullet and just paid it. Not sure if that still holds true this year.

  • NHL Center Ice - HD

Looks like FIOS only has one HD channel for Center Ice.  Is that right?  We switched from Directv recently - only because FIOS now had hockey package.  On Directv, multiple games were in HD.

Just wanted to make my voice heard on the one HD channel on the NHL Center Ice.  I understand what a previous posters says about getting the feed from iNDemand and them only having one feed per sport. Still makes me unhappy.
I got the Center Ice package to watch a lot of hockey, not just my favorite team.  I would like to see them start to broadcast multiple HD channels.  I saw a listing for a game on NHL6/HD2 for the first time tonight, and when I switched to it, it was in standard definition.  Maybe this is something they are rolling out now. *shrugs*
All this being said, if there is not at least one more HD feed for Center Ice next year, I will not renew. I can see my Bruins play all the time on NESN, but as an avid hockey fan, I like to see many other games and I am not watching SD on my beautiful TV.
I hope these forums are at least looked at by Verizon. I plan on at least sending a letter to them, a phone call, and an email.  I am hesitant to believe it will do good, but at least I will know I did what I could before next season.
inDemand does now have 2 HD feeds. Verizon, at this time, does not carry the 2nd HD feed.
As a fellow hockey fan, I feel you pain. I can not watch hockey in SD for long, especially on the inDemand feeds.

  • NHL Center Ice

Anyone know if Fios will be offering a preview package of "Center Ice" this year? Also, will it be monthly billing if I were to purchase, or all up front? Customer service isnt very helpful for me lately...

When I went in to pretend I was ordering it, it was 2 payments of like $89.50 or something. No 4 payment option was available. Apparently NHL Gamecenter or whatever it is is not available with it with sucks.

  • NHL Center Ice price.

Why does verizon charge $20 more for center ice then ANY other provider. Every provider is charging $159.96 but verizon is charging $179.99. Shady business.

I emailed them to ask the same thing.  I'm sure they do it "because they can" but I don't have to order it.  And frankly, that makes me mad enough not to even if I'm deprived of watching my team.  Furthermore, other providers allow you to pay in smaller increments.  The only option I was given by verizon was 2 payments of $90.  I know I'm just a drop in the bucket and they don't particularily care wheher or not I refuse to fork over another couple hundred dollars but if enough people let then know why they aren't ordering their programming then maybe they will realize that squeezing every last penny out of your customer isn't going to draw new business.

  • NHL Center Ice - HD games

Is there something I am doing wrong re NHL CI.  Says games are supposed to be in HD and they aren't.

Correct.  The feed is being setup at this time.

  • NHL Center Ice still blacked out for me

I now know of two people in my viewing area who are having no problems at all - one in Maryland 15 miles away from me, and another in Northern Virginia. This cannot be a NHL blackout, because every single channel comes up blank. Very frustrating, and nobody from customer support is able to help me.

your complaint is with the NHL. Verizon does not black out games. All they can do is when a customer calls saying that they are not getting a game, they go to the NHL blackout list and read that to the customer.
comparing Verizon to DTV or Dish is not a good comparison. Verizon is a terrestial broadcaster and Dish and DTV are satelite. Satelite has different rules when it comes to blackout conditions. not always fair but there is nothing that Verizon can do about it. If it is blacked out, it is blacked out.

  • New Center Ice Channel Issues

I'm glad you guys are giving us more HD channels for NHL Center Ice (long time coming - DirecTV has both the home and away feeds in HD), but all of the new ones are HORRIBLY scrambled/artifacted/pixelated.  Please fix this.

The HNL Center Ice HD channels are now in MPEG4 and appear to be on the same QAM channel.  Often, a loose or corroded coax connector or bad splitter will impact a single QAM and cause what you're seeing.  Another person complained about the same Center Ice experience you have on this forum, and was able to resolve the issue after checking and reseating all connectors and performing an STB autocorrection.  Apparently the frequency ot the applicable QAM channel is more susceptible to interference or loss than others.
P.S. If you're addressing your comment to Verizon, you might remember that this is a peer-to-peer forum.  Although Verizon may monitor it, they don't always reply to questions, especially lately and when there is already a thread on the same issue.

  • Is 'Center Ice' broadcast in HD?

Are the NHL Center Ice channels broadcast in HD?  I love watching hockey and was thinking of getting the NHL Center Ice package, but I don't want to spend the $200 unless the games are in HD.

There's only one channel dedicated for HD so there is only one or two games per day in HD.

  • NHL Hockey Package Center Ice

Why is there only 1 or 2 HD games being shown on Fios hockey Center Ice? Direct TV shows both sd and hd games when  available. This is only reason why I don't order the Center Ice package. As everybody knows it is hard watch sd hockey games verses HD games.

Carrying only 2 of the HD channels is because of Verizon. The Rangers not being in HD is because of MSG. NHL CI shows these games a lot via other channels, like if the Rangers are playing the Bruins, they can show NESN in HD. MSG refuses to provide their HD games to iNDemand because they are demanding addtional fees. (I know, shocking!) If the Sabres and Devils are playing, for example, they'll carry the game but only in SD. I also noticed that for some reason Winnipeg broadcasts are absent because TSN Jets is never shown. I'm not sure why this is, but TSN Jets may not have a deal with the league for out of market broadcasts. The NHL needs to step up with regards to these situations, because they should be able to show these games everywhere outside their home markets, HD or otherwise. Maybe MSG is once again taking advantage of a requirement by the league that they provide the feed, where nothing is in the rules about HD.

  • What set up is needed to watch previously purchased NHL centre ice on new Apple TV

We have purchased an Apple TV 2nd generation. What is set up needed to watch our NHL Centre Ice subscription?

Geesh - all this information and no  one has any clue to this? Not even someone from Apple?
Can someone at least point me in the right direction?
