NI Guitar Rig Pro 4 as a plug -n for Logic Studio/Garageband?

Hi,
I have Logic 9 and use AmpDesigner/Pboard via an Apogee GIO for both my guitar and bass - Sounds great. However I've just been goofin around with a mate on his Macbook Pro using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 4 with their Control 3 foot pedal - ummm don't wanna say this but that sounds great too! I really like the interface and patch library and some of the presets did sound bloody great to me.
So my question is ...
Is it possible to use NI Guitar Rig v4 in Logic 9 studio/mainstage? as a plugin? maybe mix and match Amp Designer and or Guitar Rig in one song? I'm sure I read somewhere that you could use non Apple plugins in Garageband.
Anyhow
Keep on Pluckin'

  • Plug in for visual studio 6.0 in acrobat sdk 6.0

    Dear Friends,

I have installed acrobat sdk 6.0 , acrobat professional and visual studio 6.0 in my system.
Please suggest me whether I have to download any other tool for this.
    Regards,
    Safee

My problem has resolved... still thank you...
    I just follwed
You must install the wizard manually. Simply copy the AcrobatPluginWiz.awx and
AcrobatPluginWiz.hlp files from PluginSupport\Tools\Visual Studio App Wizard
subdirectory of the Acrobat 6.0 SDK installation to the Common\MSDev98\Template\
subdirectory of the Visual Studio 6.0 installation. The default path to copy from is
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0 SDK\PluginSupport\Tools\Visual Studio App Wizard
and the default path to copy to is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual
    Studio\Common\MSDev98\Template.
Once the files are copied, the Acrobat 6.0 Plugin Wizard option will now be available in the
File > New > Projects dialog.

  • Plug-Ins for Logic Express 9

Does anyone know of any sites where one can download plug-ins for Logic Express 9 (either for free or for purchase)? Also, I know that one can use sound fonts (.au) with GarageBand --do these also work in Logic Express 9 and, if so, do they need to be reinstalled for Logic or do both programs read the same source files?
    Thank you!

To piggy back on previous posts, I would definitely pursue Native Instruments. While some may of the plug-ins may seem a bit on the pricey side, you will certainly get your money's worth. If you're looking for strong lead and bass sounds, I would encourage you to check out Massiv - it's my go-to plug-in of choice. I believe there is even a limited demo to try if you want to play around before purchasing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mac Book Pro going to keep up with Logic Studio

I am looking at purchasing a mac book pro 17" and would like to know if it is sufficient for Logic Studio use or if I should budget for a Pro Mac tower configuration.

Simon, I think you should fess up that the comparison here is made gainst a G5 running ProToolsLE, which is the same as filling up a Toyota Corolla's boot (trunk, for those in the other world), with concrete and driving it up the biggest hill you can find... with the air conditioner on.
I have Logic running on a G5 2x2 and a MacbookPro 2.2. Both are comparable with the same sessions, though the screen redraws on the MBPro are a fair bit snappier. The video card would adequately account for that, as the G5's card is 64meg and the MBPro is 128meg and a whole lot newer.. I believe Simons is actually 256meg.
The video performance doesn't effect audio performance at all.

  • Is there a plug-in for Logic Pro that records all live output to disk?

Hi, I noticed Digidesign have a plug in called Flashback which literally records up to 15 minutes of the master audio output for all those 'happy accidents' or when you miss recording a genius solo because it was just a run-through. Is there anything like this for Logic? thanks, Chris

right click on transport bar, select "Customize Transport Bar ...", select "Capture Recording" checkbox.
If you're in cycle mode and playing on an input enabled track, this button will capture the last time through the cycle and place it on the timeline as if you'd been recording with the little red light on. Works for audio and midi.

  • Which new Mac Pro for Logic Studio?

    Hi everyone,
I'm on the verge of ordering a new Mac Pro, but am tossed up over the quad 2.93 or the Octa 2.26. I'll be using it mainly for composing with Logic Studio. I find its a bit of a pain to record the sounds from my Motif ES8, so I'm going to start using software instruments more.
Does anyone know if Logic uses multiple cores? I googled this and couldn't find much on it.
If I get the quad, I'm going to load it to the max of 8G RAM. If I get the Octa 2.26, I will get 12G RAM. Will Logic take advantage of the extra RAM?
Right now, I'm leaning towards the quad 2.26. I keep my Macs for a long time. I currently have a 4 year old G5 iMac with 2G RAM.
    Thanks for any opinions.

    I'm With Dual G5 PowerPC version 3.1 (90nm thecnology)
Logic works fine, but when I need to recording with Omnisphere or Kontakt 3... or any Live Instruments... (anyway I'm able to use the Maximum power request patches of all 3rd party plugs that are installed in My G5)
I need MORE SINGLE THREAD POWER... because Logic and most of 3rdparty plugs allow you to use ONLY ONE CORE (or processor).
The ability to overclocking of the Nehalem processor is very interesting...
you will be able to have up to 3.3Ghz in a single thread operation!
So... I'm not sure to buy a new Mac before Snow Leopard... because I can use my G5 smoothly and if needed I have my Black Macbook for adding power (I have 2X Motu interface (828 MK3 and Mk2).
But if hypothetically I were to buy now...: the best Mac value for money semms to be the Quad 2.93 with full Ram set 8GB!
I don't believe about Multitrhead is needed for Live Audio performances
The power on the single core is very important...
I love to export as Audio the tracks
when I use 3rd party Instruments the ammount of crash risk during the Mix down the percentage are:
with Instruments in Live mode about 80% during professional mixdown
With Audio tracks 0% of crash diring professional Mixdown
Logic Pro is a rock solid DAW if used only with Audio tracks and Logic native instruments!
I'm able to MIX more than 160 Stereo tracks with My System...
I can wait for Snow Leopard Machines.

  • Best Transpose plug in for Logic???

Anyone know the best "transpose" plug in for Mac/Logic/??
I mean a general Transpose plug in that does the most basic job of pitching audio up and down like a sampler, in semitones - but in the arrange window of logic/protools?
I dont mean any elastique/stretching at same pitch that every DAW does nowadays - I mean a simple plug in to go :
1,2, +3 up in pitch and sound gets shorter and higher
-1, -2, -3 down and sound gets lower in pitch and longer/deeper...
This is a bit like Ableton does when the warping is off, and also as Acid Pro does with "one-shot" samples..
I find it easier in the arrange window instead of loading up a sampler.. but Im on the Mac (so no Acid Pro) and want to use inLogic
I cant find anything that does this without "warbling/strtching the audio? I have tried Elastic time with Varispeed which has no semitones value, and Serato which didnt do this...
Does waves soundshifter do this? and can it be demo'd?

oops.. I added some additional info about Apple Loops in the previous post
All new audio files that has been recorded with Logic allow you to use transpose function
About Audio streaching method used in Logic search on th Logic manual chapter 23 page 525
    Also search for Time Machine
    it works fine!

  • Is macbook or macbook pro the best for logic studio

I was wondering if i just bought a macbook and maxxed it out would pro logic 8 run good on it or should i just invest in a macbook pro? I guess my question is what is the difference in the 2 as pertaining to running pro logic studio? I would also be installing battey and the komplete synth line from native instruments as well..just to verify my usage.....thanx

Lots of people are running Logic Studio on MBs with no trouble. I'd definitely max out your RAM if you're using Komplete. And you probably want the biggest hard drive you can get, so that Logic doesn't take up all the space on it--some of the content can be installed on an external, but a lot of it has to be on your system drive.

  • Pro Applications Update 2008-02 Update for Logic Studio Owners?

I received Compressor 3.0.3 as part of the Logic Studio 8 bundle.
Pro Applications Update 2008-02 states that it upgrades Compressor 3.0.3, however, Software Update does not offer to update Compressor nor can I download it manually since it is demanding that I provide a Final Cut Pro serial number (which I do not have, I have only the Logic Studio serial number which it won't take).
Does anyone have any idea what Logic Studio owners are supposed to do to obtain Pro Applications Update 2008-02?
    Dave

Well, I would agree except that the update specifically provides an update for Compressor 3.0.3 which Logic Studio owners have as well and the update description states that it is recommended for all Logic Studio users.
"Pro Applications Updates improve reliability for Apple's professional applications and are recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, and Logic Studio.
Pro Applications Update 2008-02 addresses installation issues, compatibility updates, and general performance issues and improves overall stability.
    Applications included in the update:
    Final Cut Pro 6.0.4
    Compressor 3.0.3"

  • How to run Pro Tools 7.4 LE and Logic Studio 8.0.2, simultaneously..

My setup: single Quad Core 2.8GHz 8GB of RAM, running Logic Studio 8.0.2 (projectmix)
Single 1.8 GHz G5 running Pro Tools LE 7.4 (digi 002 rack)
I want to set up Logic (as master) as my main sequencer, to run Pro Tools for audio.
    What's the best setup?
    1. Midi the two interfaces together, sync by MTC, or Midi Clock….if so, what are the settings, as I had an unsuccesful run at it using MTC...
    or
    2. Run both programs on my Quad Core - is there a way to have Logic run Pro Tools on the same machine - with two different interfaces on separate firewire ports?
    Any info would be appreciative.
    Thanks

    I did the following:
Set up the audio output for the Logic to be the internal sound card, and hook up this via Digital lightpipe to the Digi002 rack lightpipe inputs, set them to SPDIF in the hardware setup page. You'll need a special adaptor to go out of the headphone outs of your mac to turnit into digital signal. Check your Mac's manual for that.
Then set up an IAC buss for the midi, inside the AudioMidiSetup software, and tell ProTools to send MTC to this IAC buss, while telling Logic to receive MTC via the same IAC buss. Make SURE you ahve the same exact SMPTE and MTC flavor on both amchnes, and also the right sample rate (match it on both)
Then, set an Aux input in ProTools Le to accept the incoming SPDIF stereo signal from Logic, press play, and they both now synch perfectly.

  • FYI Pro App update for Logic Studio

The lastest Pro App update is available from Apple. This includes Final Cut apps and Logic Studio.
    Cheers,

Yes, it may pertain only to the Final Cut suite , and since Compressor is part of both suites it might only involve Compressor. However, I'm in the technology field by trade and always find that even when something is not specifically mentioned in the "read me" file, that doesn't mean it won't apply to a broader spectrum.
    I suppose this is true.
I just installed it on my machine and now my life is perfection.
Any notable improvements you can report?

  • Mac Pro for Logic Studio...advice?

    Hi Folks,
I am contemplating the purchase of a Mac Pro specifically for running Logic Studio, and would like to know what significance multiple processors have on its performance.
Money is tight so I am considering the single processor option, based on the fact that in the past most applications did not make much use of the second processor. However I am a recent defector from Digital Performer and have no idea what the story is with the latest version of Logic.
My needs are fairly humble, not doing anything that really requires massive amounts of tracks. However I don't want to be filled with regret later.
I am contemplating the base model with one processor and then adding an additional 8GB of ram and 2 x 1 terrabyte drives. Would run the system and apps from the 320GB drive, and partition the first 1TB drive with a recording partition and a storage partition. I would use the second 1TB drive for backups.
Would appreciate some feedback from more experienced users....
    Thanks!!!!

i opted for the 8-core because logic can use them. but i am also using sample libraries a lot, so i needed decent horsepower. however, i feel that this 8-core mac pro has the potential to last a good while. especially when ssd drives drop in price later this year and will make sample streaming and system operations a breeze.

  • No Soundtrack Pro or ProApp updates for Logic Studio users?

I attempted to download updates for Soundtrack Pro and the ProApp update but was asked for a Final Cut serial number - - whichm as a Logic Studio owner I do not have. So what's up - - are these updates not signifcant for those who purchased and use Logic Studio? Please advise.

You shouldn't need to go to the download page, just run software update and it should show up. Do any OS and Pro App updates first, the STP upgrade won't show up there until you do.

  • Auto tunning plug recommendation for Logic

anyone have experience with a really good auto tunning plug..for vocals.I am pretty decent vocalist..but the years are taking it's toll. I have tried the one in Logic and it's ok but I'd like to know if someone can recommend something better for Logic they use or have used. Thanks

The term "Auto Tune" comes from the Antares plug-in of the same name. It has become analogous with the term "Pitch correction", which is actually a better description.
The "auto" part comes from a mode within the Antares plug-in that will pitch correct on the fly, or automatically. If a singer is really close, and just has a few small problem spots, this mode can work wonders. But if a vocal performance is WAY off, you need to result to graphic mode, where you have visual feedback to work with.
I've used them all, but Melodyne gets my vote as the best available.

    Hi bjp1,
I work with both on the same comp, first I worked with Logic and next I've installed ProTools M-Powered and updated PT to PT 8.
I've noticed that there are no conflict and I can work with both at the same time.
My PT works with Lightbridge and Logic with MOTU. You can use M-Audio interface with Logic as well.
