  • Labview and remote DAQ via website, best method?

For my Univsersity project i need to set up a remote DAQ that can be fully controlled via the internet by anyone with a java-enabled browser. i'm just starting out and don't know the best way to go about doing this. I don't have the internet developers toolkit, but i have already setup the DAQ locally.
Any help would be greatly apprieciated.
    Brad

Well first of all there are many tools available that let you do that.
1)If you have NIDAQ installed on two machines on the network. you can add the DAQ device on a remote machine as a virtual device. Its just like mapping network printers and sharing drives over network. What happens is that DAQ board shows up in MAX(Measurement & Automation Explorer) of a remote machine. Thats allows you to use the board over the network BUT not in web browser.
2)This would be easier if you had internet toolkit for labview. Using LabVIEW CGIs, you would have done that. End result would be like a web page, you specify the channel and device number and CGI gets you the data in webpage from the web server that has DAQ board installed.
3)Create ActiveX control using Visual basic, and h
ave that ActiveX control embedded in webpage and communicate to DAQ machine using DataSocket.
4)Write CGI in C and call DAQ C API to execute the DAQ program on server and get data back.
I have little idea as to how go about doing it in JAVA. The hard part i think is how would you interface JAVA with DAQ board???

  • Runtime Error of Labview and NI-DAQ utility in Win98

I got the following message when I tried to start LabVIEW 5.0.10 and NI-DAQ Configuartion Wizard:
    Runtime Error!
    (corresponding directories)\xxxxxxx.exe
    program abnormal terminated
Acutally, I have tried to register msi.dll service with regsvr32 c:\windows\system\msi.dll command. But this cannot solve my problem. Does anyone can tell me how can I solve this problem?
Thank you for your kind attention.

I do not have version 5.0.10 anymore, but I would suggest just reinstalling the NI-DAQ driver. There could be any of a large number of problems causing this and, when you are getting fatal errors like this, it is usually easier to reinstall the drivers than work through other possiblities.

  • How to install VISA after Labview and NI-DAQ are already installed

I have Labview 5.1.1 and NI-DAQ 6.6 installed and running properly. I now find that I need to install VISA. Must I uninstall everything (hardware, NI-DAQ, and Labview) and then run the Labview installation again to install VISA? Or can I just go ahead and run the Labview setup again in order to install VISA?

No, you do not need to uninstall any of your hardware or software to install VISA. There are two ways that you can install VISA.
    1. You can modify your installation of LabVIEW by going into Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, clicking on LabVIEW and selecting Modify (or Change, depending on your operating system). If you have your LabVIEW CD in the CD drive, you can simply enable VISA support in the Installer Tree. This will install VISA on your computer without modifying the installation of any of your other programs.
    2. You can also download NI-VISA from our website and install it. You will probably need a reasonably fast internet connection, but this may be the easier way to install it. The URL for the VISA download page is linked below. Ve
rsion 3.0.1 is the newest and works with most Windows operating systems.

  • PASCO Load Cell and NI DAQ Interfacing

    Hi everyone,
I have a PASCO Load Cell PS-2200 and I am trying to interface it with an NI-9201 AI (in conjunction with a NI-cDAQ 9172). Instead of attaching wires to the cell's pinout, I stripped a PS2 connector and rearranged the wires to match the pinout of the sensor (which are the strain gauge input, strain gauge output, the excitation voltage of 4.2 and the ground). I connected the strain gauge signal to a channel of the NI 9201 and I am using an external power source to provide voltage to the cell. My VI is trivial and consists of an input DAQ and Lowpass filter.
The problem is that the input signal is obviously not right, it looks periodic for one. The filtered signal appears stable at first but slowly increases over time. And the signal does not respond to applied stresses.
I would really appreciate any help on this. I am a ME sophomore and have little experience with LabVIEW.
    Thank you.

    Thank you Jignesh and Dave,
Jignesh, I do not have a scope I can measure the ouput with. And no, the cell does not respond to variable loads. Also, please find attached the snapshots you had asked for. The front panel snapshot shows the cell's reponse when under no load
Dave, the module I am using has a 16 bit resolution and within a +/- 10 full inut range, don't we have enough resolution to acquire the smallest change?
Also, from the pinout of the load sensor, the pin for the excitation terminal and the positive strain gaugw output are adjacent. They are not the same terminal. We took every possible precaution to make sure that the terminals of the PS2 connector did not touch during soldering.
Thank you for your help again.

  • Labview and NI-DAQ 7.x, outputting to NI-6221 card

I'm trying to use a Labview toggle switch to control a bank of relays (all at once) through an NI-6221 DAQ card. The DAQ Assistant VI will work with a true/false constant in an array, but not with a toggle. Is there a way I can control the DAQ Assistant with a toggle?

The DAQ Assistant DIO Line Output receives an array of Booleans. If you would like to send a toggle switch to your DAQ Assistant, then all you have to do is wire it through the Build Array.vi (located in All Functions»Array). If you are wanting to write to multiple lines based off of the value of a single toggle switch, then set up all of the lines in the DAQ Assistant and place the toggle switch into a for-loop, where N equals the number of lines you're writing to. Wire the toggle switch out of the for-loop with auto-indexing, which will create an array of Booleans of the proper size, and connect it to the DAQ Assistant.

  • Is there any incompatibility between Labview 8.5 and Traditional DAQ?

Hi,  I`m using a DAQPad 6020E and the Labview 8.5 Daq assistant don`t detecte my DAQ when a try to create a new task (to create a new virtual chanel). But MAX detect the DaqPad. So, is ther any incompatibility between Labview 8.5 and traditional Daq? Do you know how can I resolve this?
    Thanks.

First, you posted to the wrong board. Measure is an old add-on for Excel.
Second, there is no incompatibility between LabVIEW 8.5 and tradtional DAQ. There is an incompatibility between traditional DAQ and DAQmx which is what the DAQ Assistant uses. Make sure that you install DAQmx if your device is supported by it. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the DAQ Assistant.

  • Interface between C++ and labview

I have decided a project that consists of C++ and Labview. C++ is used
as the input to labview. However, i don't know how to use C++ to
control the labview. Can C++ control the labview directly? and how ?
or I have to buy another program or hardware to be interface?

ActiveX and TCP/IP are both good choices for high-level communication
between Windows applications. LabVIEW's VI Server, introduced in version
5.0, gives you tremendous power to control LabVIEW programmatically and
exposes it to the programmer via either ActiveX or TCP/IP.
For a very nice example that shows how to call a LabVIEW VI with arguments
passed from the C++ environment, then bring the resulting data from
LabVIEW back to C++, check out the following example from NI's site:

If the URL doesn't work for you, just go to NI's Example Programs Database
(http://www.natinst.com/support/epd/) and search for "labview and c++".

  • Interface between LabView Executables and compiled MATLAB code

Query: Does anyone have experience of calling compiled MATLAB functions from a LabView Executable?

    Hello
Well, I am using some applications as you ask. Some calculus was done in matlab, so, now, it is compiled as dll an front end and other calculatiosn are in Labview. matlab dll are registered as activex, and so are called from labview. Integration is so good, tha some old matlab application was changed to Labview and matlab dll.
I must to state that I am not the integrator. My part is only Labview. So, should you have further questions, I can pass this thread to the integrator company. I do not promisse answers.
    But it runs fine.

  • Interface between Legacy and SAP for Equipment Master

    Hello
I got a requirement where I need to develop a interface between legacy system and R/3 system for Equipment Master Data update in R/3. I am thinking of getting a Idoc file from Legacy and then update the changes or any new creation of Equipments in R/3. I found a standard BAPI for this BAPI_EQUIPMENT_CREATE/CHANGE. This BAPI use a strcture BAPI_ITOB for data record of IDoc. But I got more data from legacy except what we have in BAPI_ITOB. I got Partner Data, Classification data also for Equipments. I am thinking of copying the BAPI to a Z function module and modify the Idoc structure , message type and all to capture all the data and then do a update in same way as standard transaction IE01(Equipment Create) is doing in Batch Input. Do you think if there is any better way of doing this? I am not used to transaction BAPI . just wondering if we Can use that in someway to include our modification?
    Thanks
    Harkamal

20,000 is on quite higher side for IDOC.
IBIP help doc says it needs 2 Kbyte for each record, i.e. 40 Mb for 20,000 rec. that should be ok. Since it has structures for Partner & classification data , I don't think u need to modify the BAPI.
    Transaction IE01 - Create equipment
    Transaction IE02 - Change equipment
    Structure - IBIPEQUI Equipment record

  • How is the interface between the Java Stack and ABAP stack is achieved?

How is the interface between the Java Stack and ABAP stack is achieved?..Please send me the answer to [email protected]

    Hi,
By interface, I assume you mean the connection between the ABAP and the Java stacks in a double stack system.
The connection from Java to ABAP is through JCo connections defined in the WebDynpro section of the J2EE start page. So Java to ABAP requests are processed through JCo.
The connection from ABAP to Java is through RFC connections defined in TA SM59. The ABAP to Java requests are processed through RFC.
    Refer https://dsd.esco-salt.com/StartPage/documents/integration/3.html for detailed explanation.
The UME can be maintained in either ABAP or in JAVA depending on the persistence.
    Refer: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/5b/5d2706ebc04e4d98036f2e1dcfd47d/frameset.htm
    Check UME data source configuration.
