NI PCI-1588 Windows XP Accurate Timing Device

Hi, I see this product has been discussed on this forum here before so I hope you can help me! (Maybe Tom)
I need to log socket messages to and from an electronic trading platform with microsecond accurate timestamps and would also like to be able to schedule events with 0.5ms accuracy. Getting the messages to match exactly to real time with a GPS is nice but not so vital.
Currently I log the data with a Windows System Time (normally accurate to about 10ms) and add a high performance timer tick count so I can check approximate relative timings. Just having a single accurate timestamp would be much nicer. By messing with the multimedia timers I can get sleeps accurate to 1 or 2 ms but I would also like more precision.
It looks like I could buy this NI PCI-1588 Interface http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/202345 and use the enclosed C DLL software NI-Sync to get all this (The C DLL should work fine with C# and C++). Can I add an external GPS for accurate timing? Could I also just use the card as is allowing it to sync with the internet?
Is there another product I should consider? I don't really need to sync multiple machines to one time source... just have very accurate times and callbacks on one machine. I also looked at a Windows RTX addon but it was much more expensive than this card.

Whats the point in having an accurate sychronised clock card in your machine if you can't read the time from it? Are you sure I can't use the C DLL to read the time in the device? I am talking about abandoning the Windows Clock and using the clock on this board via the C DLL. I looked at your article but I am not really sure what Lab View is. I just want to use the C DLL to read the clock. I have no other hardware etc that links to this and I am not really in a lab. I am just trying to get accurate timestamps in my code. I want to use NI-Sync and I don't know about Lab View.

I will update thread with their reply as nothing, even Driver Genius Professional 11 has located the actual working driver. Once an update is verified, I will post back to this thread since I couldn't find the right answer online.

When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up.

Windows Can't find Device Driver Softw

I just got a Zen 6GB media player, and I installed the Media Explorer software from the cd that came with it, charged the player via the computer, but I can't load anything on to the player because everything says it is still not connected. The reason for this seems to be that when I plug it in, windows cannot install the device's driver software. It starts searching for the drivers, but can't find them. In window's device manager it lists under Portable Devices a MTP Device, but it has the yellow exclamation point on it. And when you look at the devices details it says "This Device cannot start. (Code 0)"
Does anyone have any idea if there is some way I can get the drivers elsewhere and point windows to them? I'm not sure what to do. All the related software says there is no device connected, since the computer won't recognize it without any driver information I guess. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I have Windows Vista and everything is up to date as far as I am aware.

Note that it's often a good sign of a hardware issue with the iPod's hard drive meaning the iPod will need to be serviced or replaced.

Windows XP Mode, Unidentified device fails to attach

Would you please assist me with the following:
I wish to use a CDR 2000 USB x-ray sensor in Windows XP Mode under Windows 7 Pro 64.
There are no drivers available for Windows 7, there are drivers available Windows XP. The sensor works correctly on a Windows XP PC we wish to phase out.
In windows xp mode the usb sensor appears as "Unidentified Device" in the USB pull-down. It shows "attach" to the right. When I select it it reports the error:
Windows XP Mode - Windows Virtual PC
Could not attach the USB device. You can attach the USB device to a different USB port or restart the virtual machine and try again.
I've tried both without success. My system has USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. I've tried it on both. Device Manager in Windows 7 shows the device when plugged in, though it is as "Unknown device". It never appears in the Windows
XP Mode device manager.

Hi,
The drivers for this device might not work in Host, please first check in Device Manager to see if the device could be detected, make sure the BIOS is configured to use USB 2, then redirect the device and install the driver from within Windows XP.

"An error occurred while reconnecting drive letter to \\network server\share folder.
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.
This connection has not been restored."
1) A workstation is running Windows 7
2) The user has a drive letter mapped to a UNC
3) The connection is interrupted at some point and then restored
4) Upon attempting to access the mapped network drive, the user gets the error about the letter being
already in use.
Extremely disappointed that some of the posts marked as answers were obviously not, shows how poor the moderators here are.
My latest results clearly point to a Windows 7 client problem:
I received the error.
Had run nslookup so had a prompt open.
ran dir z:    worked. went to Windows Explorer, same error.
ran dir z:\sharename    worked. went to Windows Explorer, same error.
copy con z: test.txt then type test.txt; could create and retrieve file. Went and clicked on mapped drive in Windows explorer and received same error.
Obviously(?) not a Server or Networking problem. Ran Malwarebytes from bootable CD (client doesn't believe in AV). Didn't happen with USB flash drive.
Any other ideas?

This is usually because the drive letter assigned to the network share is taken by something else. Maybe, by a removable drive.
Moderators and other answerers do their best to help specific cases, but everyone has their own situation. Apply common sense to the replies you find in the forums.
When you typed dir z: - is Z: the drive letter you wanted for this share, or it was automatically assigned?

Alternatively you could try using common sense when you post, as well as taking the time to read the entire issue post so that you can avoid showing both your ignorance and arrogance (arrogance without any competency to back it I might add).
Suggesting that it might be "another drive" that took over the mapping shows your lack of reading comprehension and is unhelpful.   Please take the time to, once again, read first.
Lastly moderators here generally show little technical skill beyond entering search words into a knowledge-base of articles and then applying the results incorrectly further exacerbating the situation for the customer.

I can't find the driver to dowload and try to fix the problem. Where can I download it or solve somehow my problem?

I agree. In my opinion Sun has done a horrible job documenting all this madness for the average developer just starting out with this stuff. There is the CLDC, J2ME, Personal Java, J2ME-WTK, MIDP, MIDP-FCS ... maddness. Anyway after sorting through it all for a few days, I think the answer to your question you will need to use Personal Java for WinCE and the Sharp Zaurus, and MIDP for PalmOS for the palm. Jeode seems to be the most common and best Personal Java implementation and it is basically the JDK1.2.2 (or is it 1.1.8) that is designed to run on WinCE and Embeddix (such as Lineo on the Zaurus). You program it just like you would a 1.1.8 application and then you can test it by running pjava.exe which is included in the personal java 3.1 download from Sun. There is also a program called JavaCheck that will ensure that your app will run properly in PersonalJava. As for the Palm, MIDP for PalmOS is a 574K program that installs on your palm device. You then use the J2ME-WTK (wireless toolkit) to build a JAR/JAD file and you use the MIDP API to write the code.

This is a common problem that is most likely caused by files that are not marked to have proper read/write permissions.
To solve this problem, follow these steps.
1. Close iTunes.
2. Using the finder, Ctrl-click the folder that contains your music files, then select Get Info.
3. Ensure that the Owner is set to have Read & Write privileges. Choose to Apple to enclosed items…
Once you have modified permissions, fire up iTunes and try to sync your music again. If it throws the same error message and still doesn’t work, research more about permissions in Mac OS X, as there could be something else not right with the permissions of your music files.

hi,
i had an older version of reader (9.something i think) that started making troubles, so i removed it (via control panel) and tried to use reader x instead. but after installing it i tried to run it and got this message titled "c:\programfiles\adobe\reader10.0\eula.exe":
"windows cannot access specified device, path or file. you may not have the appropriate permitions to access the item".
after clicking "ok" the program shuts.
i downloaded this version from adobe's site and registered. i also tried to go back to version 9 but the installation itself wouldn't go.
i'm using windows xp and downloaded reader using chrome. i deleted all previous adobe reader files from my computer prior to downloading, so it should behave as if this the first time this program was installed on it.
how can i solve it? (i've already tried going through the whole process again and again)

I have found out how to solve this issue..
Took A few days to figure it out and a lot of installs and un-installing
Install CS6 master collection again and restart your machine- Make sure all anti-virus is disabled
What you have to do:
1. Press Start
2. go under "Abode Master Collection CS6 (it should say its empty)
3. now left click the folder "Adobe Master Collection" and open it..
4. it will now come up with all programmes that SHOULD have worked - their thumbnails will not be visible it will look as if its corrupted.
5. Now this is a long procedure- go on the first shortcut, lefts click and go to properties.
6. Then select the option that says "Open File Location" it will then take you to its main folder.
7. Left click the highlighted Programme within the main folder, then go on properties
8. Go on the security Tab, press "continue" then you go on "Add" then type your account name, then "check name" then tick the box "full control"
9. Then navigate to the "compatibility" Tab and select "Run this programme as an administrator (if you don't do this it will come up with another error)
You should now have the thumbnail (picture) for the programme now
You have to now repeat this for the rest of the programmes/shortcut's within the "Adobe Master Collection" Folder
