Ni supplied hdmi to vga converter

I hope this is right board, my apologies if its not.
Has anyone else had a problem with screen resolutions when using the hdmi to vga converter supplied with a 8133 controller?
the controllers gpu (ati radeon e2400) is more than capable of 2048*(i forget now)
I have a iiyama prolite x2472hd which again is more than capable
through the adaptor (hdmi to vga) i get  1600* 900 @60Hz. highest resolution and I can get it upto 1920*1080 but the refresh makes it unusable.
If i use the controller without the adaptor i get 1920*1080 at 70Hz (i believe it will show at higher resolutions).
if you want want high resolutions from pxi controllers do not use the supplied adaptor
i wanted to post this problem with the solution so other people could find some info as there is little around but any comments greatly appreciated
Please remember to accept any solutions and give kudos, Thanks

  • Keynotes + iPad2  (AirPlay) + AppleTV  + Digitech HDMI to VGA Converter.

    Hi,
I am going to buy a iPad2, Apple TV and DigiTech HDMI to VGA/Component and LR Analogue Audio Converter, which I want to connect to my data projector in my classroom. AirPlay on the iPad 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10nfcwTHbIA
I want to use Keynotes, and mirror iPad Apps onto the projector.
I will provide various students with iPad2 devices and let them interact with the lesson as well.
Is this possible with Keynotes, and is there another option to regarding the connection to the projector?
At this stage I need to buy a Apple HDMI Adapter ($39), Apple TV ($129), and HDMI to VGA converter ($149). So $319 to get a wireless connection to my projector.
Does anyone have other options ?
    Kind Regards
    Sean Udal

I believe the only devices you need to achieve a wireless iPad 2 mirroring experience on a display is an Apple TV 2.  When iOS 5 comes out in a few weeks the iPad 2 will have full bore wireless mirroring using the Apple TV 2.  The Apple TV 2 outputs an HDMI signal so if your display has HDMI inputs you're home free.  However, you like me (I am also a teacher), have the nasty problem that our classroom projectors only accept a VGA input (probably composite too).  That Apple TV 2 is sending an encrypted HDMC signal to your projector via it's HDMI cable.  So, you need a HDMI to VGA converter that can overcome this encryption.  I just bought a HD Fury 3 HDMI to VGA converter that has a chip in it to deal with the HDCP encryption.  Sadly, I just hooked this system up in my classroom and it doesn't work.  I posted this information in the other thread you started asking about this same issue.  One of our school's tech personal is going to see if he can resolve this but I am not optimistic.  There are many posts in other forums that claim great success with the Fury 3.  If anyone has some insight regarding this I'd love to hear it.  My projector is a new Epson short throw projector.  It cost somewhere in the range of $1600 - $2000.  Sorry, can't remember the specific model off hand.  Anyway, even though it has no HDMI inputs, it is not a cheap projector.

  • Hdmi to VGA issue

I use an HDMI to VGA converter to an external monitor. Recently the external monitor began to flas off and on periodically, and then completely went blank. Tried rebooting, and a second vga monitor with the same results. Purchased a new adapter as well and at first it semed to resolve the issue, but then it returned.
I turned the Laptop off overnight, and restarted, and the external monitor began working again.
That night left the LT go into sleep mode overnight, and when woke the LT the next morning the external display again did not recover.
Turned the LT off again and let it set for about an hout. Turned back on and the external monitor now works again.
I've reset the power options to nev ?er turn the monitor off, but let the LT go into sleep mode to attempt to determine where the issue is.
Not sure if it's heat related or sleep mode related.
Warranty expires in August so want to get to the bottom of this if possible.
    Suggestions?

    Hi there @Spark_Ric
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are trying to use an HDMI to VGA converter to connect to an external monitor. I am happy to help you with a direct HDMI connection, to an HDMI device to test the functionality of the HDMI port. Beyond that I cannot troubleshoot an HDMI-VGA adpater that may not be compatible.
If possible do you have an external HDMI device you can connect to, and test with, or if you prefer as you say you are in warranty, you can try calling our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html
Again, it is likely that phone support will want to eliminate the adapter from the chain and test with a direct HDMI connection to verify the HDMI port.

  • HDMI to VGA no audio

As soon as I plug in my HDMI to VGA converter I now lose audio from the computer / video. It was working fine last night so I am not sure what changed.  Haven't done anything affecting audio settings.
I'm running Windows 8.1 and I've installed all updates received since I bought the laptop on 3/18. Is there a special setting I need to work on to resolve?
    Many thanks!!!

    Hi @Zullyfra ,
    Thank you for your inquiry.
I grasp that when  you connect your HDMI to VGA converter you loose the audio from the computer video.  It was working fine previously and you have not changed any settings.
When you connected the first time was the notebook on or off?
You may want to try  connecting both devices first and then turning on the external device first and  the notebook last.

  • S2110 HDMI to VGA connection

Hi all - I bought a micro- HDMI to VGA converter to connect the S2110 tablet to a projector.    I've connected it to a computer moniter and a TV, to test it,  but there seems to be no signal.  Is there an app or a configuration that needs to be done to enable the HDMI out of the tablet?
    Thanks in advance.

A compliant converter wouldn't confirm it was connected to an HDCP compliant device and the Apple TV wouldn't send the movie (or send the "HDCP is not supported" message).
A converter that is not compliant would confirm (circumvent protection) it was connected to an HDCP compliant device and the Apple TV would be fooled into sending the movie.

  • HP HDMI to VGA Adapter

I bought the HP HDMI to VGA adapter to use on my Windows 8 ultrabook. It does not work and nothing shows on the second monitor/ projector (reminas black as if no signal is received in the projector). I have tried all the usual tweaks and I know how to connect to a second screen.
Is this adapter not compatible with Windows 8? if so is there a fix that I can download to get it to work?
It was very embarrassing to try and use this in a corporate presentation and it failed.

Yes an HDMI to VGA adapter will work fine. Keep in mind it will not carry audio but neither did your old vga connection so I am assuming it is not a problem.
You would find an HDMI to VGA at any Best Buy or you can order on one amazon.com such as here:
    http://www.amazon.com/BestDealUSA-Adapter-Converter-Laptop-NoteBook/dp/B007PLL4CK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8...
Connect the projector and use the Windows key at the lower left of the keyboard and the p key at the same time and it brings up a "projector" console that lets you easily switch from laptop to projector to laptop + projector.

  • Help please. Extended display won't work on MBP and AOC 20" 1600 x 900  60HZ monitor. Mirror display does. I've a mini dvd to vga converter cable. Should this work?

Help please. Extended display won't work on MBP and AOC 20" 1600 x 900  60HZ monitor. Mirror display does. I've a mini dvd to vga converter cable. Should this work?

I have the same mini display port adapter and Belkin DVI-HDMI cable (but a Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV) so just set this up on it to see if I could duplicate your problem, unfortunately for you (but good for me) I can't.
I connected the adapter+HDMI cable before switching the HDTV on and then powered up the MBP. It (the HDTV) came up with my background right away (it's set at Mirror not extended Desktop) and when I run System Preferences/Displays get the following. Sorry but all I can confirm is that adapter+cable combination should work ...
Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys?

  • HDMI to VGA Kludge?

Does anyone know if bolting an XtremeMac XtremeHD HDMI to DVI Cable and then a Apple DVI to VGA Display Adapter (both off the Apple store for £16.95 and £15.00 respectively) into the back of the Apple TV and then into a cheapo (or small - sub 10") LCD screen would work?
Everything from a Mac Plus up to a MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I don't think this will work because I believe the Apple DVI to VGA Display Adapter doesn't actually convert DVI (digital) to VGA (analog) but instead tells compatible Mac graphics processors to output VGA on the DVI port.
If you Google "DVI to VGA converter" you should see two distinct price ranges, a very low one for adaptor cables that are like the Apple one & a much higher one for converters that actually do digital to analog conversion. See DVI ADC VGA converters - Digital flat panel monitor converters, HDTV for an example of the latter type of device & some useful info (in the note) about this type of conversion's limitations regarding content protection (HDCP).

  • The best HDMI to VGA adapter

I have a U510 with the useless mini-VGA and no adapter has worked for that, so now I am looking for a good HDMI to VGA adapter. What is a good one for under $40? (Online or at Best Buy, RadioShack, or Staples)
    Thanks!

There's no such thing as a HDMI to VGA adapter. HDMI is purely digital signal, while VGA is pure analog signal. You'd have to get a converter that not only could change the shape of connector, but also decode digital sitnal and encode is as analog one. I don't even know if anybody makes such a thing. Why would you use VGA anyway? HDMI is superior in quality and functionality. VGA is susceptible to e-m noise too.
EDIT: Ok I did look it up, and there are HDMI to VGA converters. I must admit I'm surprised. Still, I'd avoid it if possible. If you do need it, I can't recommend one as I never used one, but maybe using the one you can get from Lenovo might be a good idea?

  • HP Smarttouch 15-n006ed with H4F02AA (hdmi to vga adapter) possible?

    Hi all,
A few days ago I bought a notebook (type '15-n006ed'). When i got home, i noticed the notebook had no VGA-output. I bought the notebook for school and i need to connect it with the beamer (i'm a teacher) so i need an hdmi to vga adapter....
I found information about an adapter from HP on the internet, but my notebook is not in the list of compatible devices. Is it possible to use the adapter anyway or is there an alternative for it?

  • Apple TV - HDMI to VGA

I just bought an Apple TV 2 and am trying to hook it up to a VGA projector to Airplay stream my mirrored iPad. What is the best converter from HDMI to VGA?

There are certainly some that will defeat HDCP but strictly we're not supposed to mention them - in any case i've never used one so couldn't give a recommendation.
It's really frustrating - the paying customer gets their usage curtailed to prevent them copying - something I'm sure 99.9% of customers would not have the time or interest in doing - those who want to distribute illegal copies will find ways of doing so beyond the capability of home users as many of these outfits will be criminal groups with resources to match.  When you think about it why would a consumer want to waste time and energy producing an inferior lossy analogue copy of digital media which they would have to record in real time then potentially convert to an appropriate media format later.  No, in this day and age the person who wants an illegal copy will find a software solution to rip a disc, buy a pirated disc or get an illegal download.  Win, win, win for those who don't pay, but a hole in your wallet if you do pay and limited usage options.
In the days of vinyl audio I liked to own my albums - CDs have little similar value to me in their physical presentation and merely clutter - what we really need is for all the media companies to get together and offer subscription based eat as much as you can music/video/films/games via the internet at a REASONABLE monthly price.  Won't be perfect for all where internet is poor, but the studios are so behind the times when it comes to providing what the customer wants and can easily be delivered.
