NI Update of LabVIEW -- Trojan detected?

Hi
Having recently upgraded to LabVIEW 10, I installed the new NI Update software (after another Forum message gave that as the solution to a hanging NI Updater dialog). I ran the Updater, which came up with a few critical updates. I told it to go ahead.
While loading the following file (ten minutes ago):
http://ftp.ni.com/support/softlib/labview/labview_development_system/2010/2010%20f2/Windows/32-bit/L...
my Kaspersky (AV 6) virus software has just claimed that the file contains "HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic", and has halted the download, waiting on my decision to junk the file or proceed.
I'm assuming that this is a false positive....... but can someone confirm that this is the case?
Many thanks,

99.99% of the time these are false positives. NI checks their software for viruses before making them available.
If it helps, there was an apparent update of virus signatures by multiple vendors. My Symantec Antivirus started claiming that some software on my PC suddenly had Trojans. They don't.

Probably not a false positive.  I've got no file by that name in my Photoshop folder...
Could be malware dropped in that folder by some other agent.
Caveat:  I don't know whether that's a legitimate filename used when installing the software.  I got no hits using Avast! when installing here.

The Lenovo System Update installed the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver 8.9.2.1002" right before the Windows Upgrade got broken. So in the Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, I choose Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, on the Driver Tab, I choose the option "Roll Back Driver" and after rolling back the driver and restarting the OS, now Windows Update is working like a Champ!
    The End!

  • Modification of Global channels In NIMax while Labview Program running, not updating in Labview

    Hello,
Okay, here is my issue.  I have a program that reads data from a device using global channels in MAX.
Step 1:  I open MAX with the systemExecute.vi with the parameters to wait till program finishes.
Step 2:  I Modify a channel in Max, for example change the assigned daqMX Scale, or Min Max values.
Step 3:  Save channel in Max.
Step 4: Exit MAX with the file exit.
Step 5: The Labview program continues, and I re-read the available global channels and global scales in the Labview vi but the properties have not changed to match what I change in MAX.
If I stop the VI then start it again and read the global channels then the properties get updated.  How can I get the channel properties to update in Labview after changes are made in Max without stopping the labview vi and starting it again?

Many properties of the channel can only be modified when the task is not running.  Have you tried stopping the task in LV before modifying the parameters, and then re-starting the task?

  • How to use peak detection in labview to detect peaks from data acquisition information

    Hi
I am a university engineering student who is working in a team to develop a coin detector, its purpose is to recognize different coinage and detect fakes.
For this we are using LabVIEW 8.5.1. I am relatively new to labview and have had no experience of using to before. We are trying to integrate four voltage signals produced by an electromagnet, straingauge, optical sensor and a proximity sensor. We have already developed signal conditioning for these tests and now wish to put them into labview.
Our plan is to use peak detection on each of the tests so that labview can detect peaks which correspond to different coin types, provided they meet set criteria for each coin. Then to combine these either using logic or mathscript to produce a Boolean output for each coin.
One of our advisors helped us develop a peak detection program for a simple simulated sine wave however we are struggling to adapt this for data acquisition information and itegrate it with mathscript and to be honest it does not make much sense. I have attached the program below. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Chris,
Here are several ways to help  you get started with peak detection:
    1. On your functions palette, you can search for "peak detect" and you'll find several different variations of VIs that will do peak detection.
    2. You may also want to take a look at this tutorial: Peak Detection Using LabVIEW and Measurement Studio
    3. There's an example in the example finder called "Peak detection and display" that will probably be useful.
    Hope this helps,
    Misha

  • Write a VI in Labview to detect the time

To write a VI in Labview to detect time T when the voltage across the capacitor rises to 0.6321 of the applied value.
Then knowing the value of R, C can be calcul\ted by: C= T/R .  Please where will I start.
    C = Capacitor
    R = Resistor
    T = Time
The equation t=RC can be rearranged to show that Vc = 0.6321.E (V)
Where do I begin.  I have looked the Labview tutorials.

How are you reading the voltage ? I guess you must be using an DAQ card to do this right ?
If you have a card which can read the voltage in a specific interval of time (that you can specify) for a certain number of readings upon triggering (say every 10 microsec 1 reading for 10msec = 1000 ADC reading). The device must be having a buffer to keep all these data as well (so that you won't interrupt the device until it finishes). Once reading finished, you can read the buffer and look for the time reading 0.6 x applied voltage (or close). Once you see this reading, you can calculate the time as [the index of the reading x 10micro sec].
The key here is to find the card that can do it this way.

  • Update of Labview

    Hello,
I do not know if I am posting correctly but I will try.
I have been using Labview for one year and the most difficulties that I had, it was always with installation and update of Labview. I have few wishes about better work with this from my point of view.
    1) As Labview have many modules etc. And serials for each separately module or one for all. I think it would be more easy and interesting that I put DVD/CD then I put my serial and installation program shows me what I can install or for what kind of modules my license is valid. As I was beginner I did not know what is for what and what I can install for my license.
    2) Why there is not proper update of Labview? Something which shows me that new software is release or something? And then installation automatic..I am still trying to install SP1 for Labview 2009 but there is still any problem:/ I wanted to install new drivers for my cRIO system but it shows that something still is missing and I do not know how I can find the rest...A NI UPDATE SERVICE never found anything.
    3) Removing of the software is not nice neither. Many things are connecting to each other and some I do not know why..For example I have cRIO drivers 3.3.0 and I installed drivers 3.5.1 but as system showed me that I cannot use it because something is missing and I decided to deinstall. Fortunately the new drivers were linked with the old one and I had to deinstall all...and after again install the old one.
It is few things which really annoying me with Labview but I think it should be much easier...
    Regards,
    Nemesis
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for answer. Yes, as I know I have all. Please look at the picture. It seems to be ok. As I said in my first post. I wish had a tool that tell me what I have to install in order my Labview works correctly. Like that I have to think and ask people what I suppose to install or what I need still. For me if I install new drivers let say cRIO 3.4 and if I do not have something it should tell me that you need this and this...and eventually download rest...
Regarding before posts. My update service worked correctly but never found anything. As my service was running of date I though that it have should be after one year something new but I did not receive any news or something that I could upgrade. I just received a DVD with new drivers I think November 2009 but it was by post and nothing new.
I like Labview very much it is really great software for automatics/mechanics/electronics and not only. Just I personally think that some things should be easier.

I have always gone the latter route when I needed it.  I usually use an action engine to keep track of the error messages.  Said action engine can be used to combine and suppress errors, as well.  I have posted an example below (LabVIEw 7.1).  In this case, the error propagation is occurring in a task handler which is processing multiple command/data pairs.  The command is set at the beginning of the task and the error handler is sprinkled liberally throughout the task code.  In this particular case, the desired behavior is to continue execution on error, but log the errors.
I prefer this type of method because it gives me complete control over the error propagation.  It has the down side of requiring more code and effort, but I think it is worth it. I like functionality to be explicit on my block diagrams.  It makes long-term maintenance much easier.

Updated Windows 8 to 8.1 and have 3 monitors on Geforce 660ti video card. Since update only hdmi monitor detects. Have updated all video card drivers and clean installed multiple times but still same problem. Can unplug hdmi monitor and get nothing. Plug
it in and that monitor works but nothing on dvi monitors.

    Hi,
Check whether the monitor is detected by the computer according to this method:
Go to control panel, then go to hardware and sound, click the display.
Then click Change display settings at the left panel, just like the picture shown as below, then click Detect.
There should be all the monitors listed, meanwhile I suggest to go to the official website of your computer motherboard producer and download and install the BIOS version accordingly.

  • Two Trojans detected on my mac

I have a mac OS X and have Norton Anti Virus for Mac installed
Following the recent news reports regarding the infection of macs from a Trojan Virus hidden in a Flash Update, I ran a scan which detected two trojan viruses infecting my mac, I clicked "Repair" but a later scan showed the viruses were still infecting my mac.
    What should I do now?

    Hi ...
Your Mac may be infected by the flashback trojan.
Run the F-Secure Flashback removal tool >   Flashback Removal Tool - F-Secure Weblog : News from the Lab
Use OpenDNS to block malware in the future  >  OpenDNS is blocking the Flashback Trojan, or what’s being described as one of the single biggest Mac security incidents of all time.: Apple Support Communities
Make sure your Mac OS X software is up to date. Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update ...

  • 10.5.7 update massively broke monitor detection, remains broken in 10.6.3

I have two 17" TFT monitors (Samsung and Hyandi); one at the office, one at home. Both of them worked perfectly with my 13" Macbook using OS X from 10.5.3 through 10.5.6. As soon as the 10.5.7 upgrade was installed, both stopped working. The Hyundai can still be used with the VGA connection, which does not work with the Samsung; neither work with DVI. I have also had problems with monitor detection when giving presentations and connecting the monitor to external projectors (VGA).
I dual boot with Linux on the same machine; both monitors continue to work flawlessly there. I reinstalled OS X 10.5.3 to a Firewire disk and both return to a working state there. Immediately after installing the 10.5.8 combo update, both cease to work, and today, after upgrading (the Firewire-disk install) to 10.6.3, the problems persist.
I have seen suggestions to try SwitchResX in various similar reports, but have had no luck there since after plugging in the monitor it's never even recognized.
Upon plugging in the monitors, the main display begins to blink while it apparently tries to detect the resolution of the secondary monitor. This continues indefinitely leaving the computer useless until I disconnect the secondary monitor.
It frustrates me to no end that there is still not a fix for this problem. I assume it is not exceedingly rare since it happens with two different monitors, and it is clearly an OS problem since it works perfectly with older versions of OS X and Linux.
Has anyone found their way to the other end of this mess? At the moment it seems downgrading to 10.5.6 is the only real option, which is very frustrating since that means completely reinstalling the OS.

    Hey nerowolfe,
Thanks for the info, I will try the combo update and see if it resolves my issue. I have tried rebooting all three of my machines and there is no problem with my router. As I mentioned earlier, everything worked fine with all of these machines until I ran this new update.
Yeah, I love my G5 (Last 2.0 dual core model made prior to intel models). I have a 320 GB WD Velociraptor 10K Rpm drive for my main drive and a 1TB WD as a secondary. Also, I have 10GB of Ram and upgraded the video card to a 256Mb AGP.
I have been using MACs for 4-5 years now and I just love my G5 PPC. My rendering times with Kinemac 3D and iMovie are pretty darn quick. Here is an example of an animation clip I did on my G5 for a company called SnapShotz Photobooth Rentals in Los Angeles. (SnapShotz is a photo booth rental company that services weddings, quinceanaras, bar/bat mitzvahs, corporate events, etc.) The clip was made almost entirely with Kinemac and then re-edited with iMovie.
The video clip can be viewed from:
