NI USB 5102 Windows7 support

Hi.
Is NI USB 5102 oscilloscope supported in Windows7 and if it is which Ni-Scope version should I use?
Thanks.

The USB-5102 is not supported under Windows Vista or Window 7 with NI-SCOPE.  Although I have not tried this, you may be able to get it to work using NI-DAQmx.  The 5102 is essentially an overclocked E-series DAQ board and can be programmed using either NI-SCOPE or NI-DAQ (it is the only scope card that is like this).  You may need a 32-bit version of the OS to get it to work.

I did this years ago when I had a PM6500 running 8.6 & added a USB PCI card, but know I didn't have the problem you are having.
When I downloaded from the link you provided, I got this file USBCard_Support1.4.1.smi.bin. After using Stuffit Expander, I got this file +USB Card Support 1.4.1.smi+, which is the installer. I don't have a Mac running 8.6, so I can't try the install.
Suggest you do this. Put the smi.bin file in a folder on your desktop & then uncompress using Stuffit. This will yeild the .sim file. Then double click the .sim file. Did you get the message "+Please insert the disc: USB Adapter Card Support+" when you double clicked the .sim file? Or some other file?
When you downloaded the smi.bin file did you use a Mac or a PC & then put on a Zip disc? What computer did you use to uncompress to get the .sim file?

  • Transfer rate with USB 5102 is very slow (8 updates/sec). Any possible way to increase it??

Taking 100 microsec data from 32 sensors we want to monitor results in real time. Because of slow data transfer protocol (niScope_InitiateAcquisition - niScope_FetchBinary8 loop) for USB NI5102 (~125ms) we can update only every 4 sec. Any way to speed it up? Is PCMCIA 5102 will do it faster (we don't have PCI)??

To verify, you wish to take data for 100 microseconds on each of 32 sensors and display the data in "real time." The problem is the overhead of the initiate/acquire, not the actual acquisition time or theoretical data transfer time. Have you considered taking all your data in a single acquisition? I assume you are already multiplexing the signal to the 5102. This will require a bit of work in setting up the advance trigger for the multiplexer and the reference trigger for the 5102, but this is far cheaper than buying another acquisition board. Your data acquisition sequence would then be:
Set 5102 for 64000 points, 20MHz, 0% trigger reference position (add more points if needed for settling time)
    Set multiplexer to first channel
Iniate acquisition on the USB-5102 (you may want to use the hardware start trigger for repeatability)
    Trigger 5102 to start acquisition
Cycle multiplexer through the 32 sensors with 100 microsecond dwell time per sensor (add extra dwell time for settling time as needed)
    Read data from 5102
Parse the data by splitting the array using your known timing
With this method, you only take the overhead hit once per scan instead of 32 times. You should be able to get single-digit Hz update rates. You can speed up the data acquisition by using both channels of the 5102 (unless you are already doing this for some sort of data reduction). If you are doing this in LabVIEW, pass your data into a queue in your acquistion loop and pull it out of the queue in a separate loop to process and display. This allows you to time multiplex the acquisition and display.

  • E3000 shows "USB is not supported" error with External Harddrive

I have the E3000 router and recently purchased a USB WD (Western Digital) 2TB External Harddrive.  I plug the Harddrive into the router, open the router homepage (http://192.168.1.1/) then click on Storage > Disk and I get a "The attached USB is not supported" error - any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks for any help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Likely Final Update:  WD Support sent me a link to download / install SmartWare and solve the problem I was having with the SmartWare software ("Drive Settings" was greyed out).  Once I got SmartWare back up and running I was able to change the "Drive Settings" within SmartWare.  As the last update suggested, I modified the sleep timer settings and security (password settings) and tested to get the following results:
Sleep Timer on / Password protection on:  E3000 shows "USB not supported"
Sleep Timer off / Password protection on:  E3000 shows "USB not supported"
Sleep Timer on / Password protection off:  WD Hard Drive seen and seems to function properly when connected to E3000
Sleep Timer off / Password protection off:  WD Hard Drive seen and seems to function properly when connected to E3000
So (other than maybe some inital problems with the WD SmartWare) it appears the "USB is not supported" error is due to the Password protection being turned on for the External Hard Drive.  This point should be highlighted in the Western Hard Drive materials but I don't see it anywhere on the box or in the manual (maybe its fine print in the manual).  Cisco and / or Western Digital are screwing us by not allowing password protection (or making this point known) on at this least model of Hard Drive!
Thanks again to everyone that helped with troubleshooting this!

  • USB 3.0 support in Windows 7?

I can't find any official information online about what support Windows 7 has for USB 3.0, can someone point me in the right direction?

I can say categorically that USB 3.0 support for Windows 7 seems to be a little like the eSATA problems experienced by people...  A washout.....
I have Windows 7 professional SP1 with ASUS p6t deluxe X58 chipset...  USB 3.0 with the drivers (at least) from Buffalo are highly unreliable and not worth investigating or buying....
Until the drivers have clear standards there will remain these motherboard chipset incompatibilities like with the X58 chipset.  I have a 3.0 USB Buffalo Controller that whose driver seems to be VERY BUGGY....
    a. external connected loses connection with the mobo
    b. throughput is ABSOLUTELY PITIFUL as many have said at a miserable 23-28 Mb/Second  (this is what we waited for????)....
    c. the drivers on the controller card...that it seems to fail at will where a navigational-"ghost" of the attached drive's directory is frozen (i.e. not refreshed by windows explorer) and consequently the ONLY thing that remedies is a re-boot UNTIL....
....it fails again.  Not, repeat,  not a happy camper.  I would have gladly waited until the drivers had been cleaned and ready for RTM status not this pre-alpha/alpha nonsense that the poor unsuspecting early-adopter geek community is having
to suffer through.................GROWWWWWWL..........  It is a bit sad really....the first real blemish on what has been an otherwise stellar O/S release....  So dammit...................FIX/STANDARDIZE THE DRIVERs...  There...I tried...to
    say it nicely.
It's alway interesting hearing from experts that know everything.
I have two system with USB 3.0 on the motherboard and my transfer rates usually run between about 60-90 Mb/secs.
And, Microsoft does not write the USB 3.0 driver - it is written by NEC or one of the other hardware partners!  My guess is your problem is caused by the Bufflao hardware and their implementation of USB 3.0.  It's definitely has nothing
to do with Microsoft!  Talk to the USB 3.0 committee @

  • IdeaPad A1 USB OTG/Host Support

    Hey everyone,
Has anyone found a way to get USB Host (USB OTG) to work on a tablet that is not supported? I have a Lenovo IdeaPad A1 which was upgraded from Android 2.0.3 to ICS (4.0.4) which is also rooted. I was under the impression that all Android devices had the support for USB OTG as I bought a $70 tablet off of eBay and it did. I found out the hard way today that not all support it. I really hope someone has some insight to this as I just bought this Lenovo and am kind of disappointed to find it doesn't have something a $70 tablet does.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

I think this is a matter of building it into the Adroid/linux kernel and not all companys build it in for some reason. I have built plenty of kernels and its not that big of a deal especially for a high tech company. They must not have the time or can not pay the engineer.
Anyway, since you are rooted and the source is available you can actually do this yourself if you have the time and skills.

  • Boot camp and windows 7 but window wont find usb to download support drivers

Used Boot Camp to partition, downloaded support onto USB zip drive, installed Windows 7 fine I thought, but in Windows 7 now it will not find my USB so i can't download the support drivers from my zip drive back into Windows.  No internet found either (probably because i can't download the support drivers).  HELP QUICKLY please!!!

Boot Camp in Windows has nothing to do with Boot Camp in OS X. So, there was no need for you to reinstall Leopard.
Since you're using Leopard, your Leopard disc will have the 2.xx drivers, which, (apparently) will not install in Windows 7.
You'll need to get a hold of the 3.0 drivers. The 3.1 update downloaded from the Apple site won't install without 3.0 drivers installed.

  • What USB sources are support on MacOS?

    Hi
I've previously posted about MacOS not recognising my mixer - so I can't encode it.
I don't use the built in line audio input because the output of of the mixer is a balanced XLR and I want to have local monitoring / control of the level,EQ and compression.
Does anyone have a list of supported or known working USB audio sources that FMLE will recognise and encode on Mac OS?
    Thanks
    Andy

I am not sure whether this router will support USB drive of 3 TB.
I think you can try to create partition on the drive and see if that works.

  • USB 2.0 Support for K8N Neo2

Hi again, almost there, just a few small things to work out now. One of them is USB 2.0
I have 1.1 capability, I am running bios v1.5 and have installed the SMBus option from the Nforce 3 system drivers v5.10 yet I still don't have support for 2.0
In system hardware Device manager I get the 2 yellow questionmark next to the "USB-Controller" and one next to "Ethernet Controller", how do I resolve these driver issues??
    Thx for any help

7025MOD4-1A3.zip works well for me.  It is available here along with other bios that do not have the usb problems that come with official versions:  http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~chsmith/Syars_Bios_Collection/NEO2/
Note that it depends on the processor you have, and you did not tell us your system specs.
Don't use live update.  Use winflash and check the right boxes.

  • USB 2.0 support with WIN XP

I have just bought a via based MAXXTRO USB 2.0 PCI CARD. Plugged in, powered PC. Win XP recognized the card and automatically installed drivers without notice. So I checked the hardware set up and realised to my surprise that the card was recognized as USB 1.0.
I have MSI 845 Ultra -C, Amibios 1.5, P4 2.4 GHz, Win XP SP1a, latest via driver download. I wonder if the MOBO supports USB 2.0 at all?
Or is it just some issue arround the MOBO USB 1.0 controllers messing up with the PCI USB 2.0?
    Please help

    Yes, I have mentioned it.
    To sum up:
    PC: P4 2.4GHz,
MSI 845 ULTRA -C, Amibios 1.5, newest available drivers
     512 MB , 333Mhz RAM,
USB 2.0 PCI CARD (MAXXTRO, via based),
    Win XP Professional, SP 1a
the USB hardware set up states I have VIA USB host controller, rev 5 or later , but in the artcle at:
    http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=3&faq=13&Search=USB+2.0
they suggest it reffers to USB 1.0 spec. not to USB 2.0
It might be an issue of the MoBo, or WIN XP. But  this is where my knowledge ends.
    Self advise:
first I have to make sure, the motherboard supports the USB 2.0 ( do you know?)
second I will check with Microsoft (there is an update patch available, did not help)
third I susspect the bulid in USB 1.0 host controllers (?) in the MoBo might interfere with the new card and the USB 2.0 is recognised as USB 1.0, Should I desable USB 1.0 somehow?
    What should I do?

    Thank you for your post.
In order to keep the power of the board to a minimum, and to keep our prices very competitive, our customers use software triggering for applications such as impact hammer test.  We are happy to coach your development team in the implementation of software analog triggering in LabVIEW, Our Sound and Vibration Assistant, or with our "C" Api.  I have asked our Product Support Engineer to post a note regarding the "C" api function calls.  Stay tuned.

  • Bootcamp can't create a bootable USB drive, only supports 64 bit version?

I got a windows 8.1 ISO file downloaded onto a FAT usb drive, but whenever I try to create a USB drive for installation, an error message comes up saying that only a 64 bit version is supported. As far as I know though, there wasn't any specification when I downloaded the ISO file from the PC that this was 32 versus 64 bit. I'm running a Mid 2012 Macbook pro 15" with Maverick 10.9.2. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how exactly do you solve this problem? I'm not a computer person so could you please give very specific step by step solutions if you have any solutions for this issue? Thanks so much!
