NI-Visa Freezing Application

I created an exe using labview 2011 to comunicate through a USB to dh485 adapter. The driver is from FTDI its the newest version.
I am running windows 7 64 bit on my laptop. I can run the exe on my laptop with the adapter plugged in and never have an isuue. I've install the exe on an acer veritron running windows 7 64 bit, and installed NI-Visa 5.4. I can run the exe and it opens the comm port, starts communicating, reads the correct information for a few minutes and then freezes on a Visa read instruction. The application stops, no further loop interations occur.
I've installed the development software on this pc to try and figure out the problem. I just dont understand why the code halts at a VISA read on this pc only. The exact same code is from on my laptop and it works fine.
Any suggestion?

Have tou tried all the usb ports on the PC? Typically, it is much better to use a port that's attached directly to the motherboard (in the back of the computer). Also, are you using usb 2.0 or 3.0 ports?

Are there any known issues for macbook pro freezing (applications mostly) because of internet fluctuations?

I live in Philippines and our internet speed here is not very reliable. It fluctuates a lot and sometimes, it would just drop to zero and then kick back in again. I don't know why this is so - either it's our DSL or our router. Nevertheless, I just want to know if there are issues with applications freezing in macbook pro (esp safari) due to internet fluctuations, causing the color wheel spin and the my laptop freezing for few seconds or sometimes minutes. Everything would freeze, all I can move is my mouse and thant's it. Usually, if an application is not responding, it's only that application. But l noticed this time it's causing the whole system to freeze. I just recently upgrade to Mountain Lion.

If you're browsing the web and you're internet connection is slow or sometimes dropping, it is normal for Safari to hang or freeze for a little bit until it connects to the site you're trying to view or visit.
Try this - go to system preferences - network - advance - dns and change your dns server.

Windows Update last Tuesday and Windows 8.1 Freezing, applications crashing

We have number of Windows 8.1 Dell OptiPlex 9020 Machines 64bit with Office 2013 with all latest updates and SCEP 2012 on it. We have noticed that number of machines started to freeze and crash applications like Word, Outlook, Excel. We have done system
restore and looks like computers are working again but they will pull updates over night again. Does anybody knows if there are any issues with last week updates from Microsoft, and did anybody experienced similar issues

Freezing, Application Ending while using PSE 12 during editing.

Good afternoon, I'm using PSE 12 and the application keeps on freezing and ending during editing. Just purchased a new MAC laptop that is running Yosemite 10.10. Any advice? Thank you in advance.

Combo 10.7.4 Update slowing down and freezing applications

After updating from Combo Mac OS X 10.7.3 to Combo Mac OS X 10.7.4, my third party applications slow to a crawl and freeze on a rotating basis.
Affected applications:
- BOINC with which I do volunteer medical research (3 CPUs used 100% of the time);
- aMule 2.3.1 to download files;
- Mozilla Firefox 12.0 to browse the internet.
I tried to reduce the CPU usage of BOINC (3 CPUs used 80% of the time instead of 100%) to no avail.
I re-installed with some difficulty Mac OS X 10.7.1 from the copy I bought on the Mac App Store to preserve the work I had done on my iMac since the last TimeMachine back-up, but did not improve performance, possibly because I ended up with a mixed system of Mac OS X 10.7.4 components surviving the Mac OS X 10.7.1 re-install.
I am currently performing a TimeMachine re-install of my previous system (Combo Mac OS X 10.7.3) which will take almost a full day and erase my Macintosh HD to copy the TimeMachine content.
When reading posts on AppleInsider.com and TonyMac x86 blog @ http://tonymacx86.blogspot.ca, I came up with at least 3 different explanations:
- The Mac OS X 10.7.4 System takes up all the RAM memory and gives back unused, free memory only slowly, so that third party applications (and Apple applications such as the Finder and Force Quit) don't have enough free memory and freeze on an alternate basis, although my Core i5 quad-core iMac has 12 GB of installed RAM recognized by Mac OS X;
- Apple has changed kext files in anticipation of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and accidently changed the CPU multiplier so that the CPU is artificially limited to 1.6 GHz (instead of a quad-core 2.66 GHz);
- Apple has changed the /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist file and the following lines of the booting sequence:

<string>Yes</string>
should be replaced by using TextEdit to copy the following lines:
<key>DropSSDT</key>
<string>Yes</string>

I'm just an average user with no programming skills. I don't feel comfortable with doing undocumented tweaks when I don't really understand what I am doing. On this one, I sure hope that Apple engineers are investigating the issue to come up with a fix.
In the mean time, I am using TimeMachine to re-install my previous system (Combo Mac OS X 10.7.3) which will take almost a full day. I have been deprived of my iMac for 3 days and that's all the time that I can spend on a malfunctioning Combo Mac OS X 10.7.4 Update.

12 GB SO-DIMM RAM
2 TB hard drive with 100 GB of free space

Final report:
I hope that my experience will help others who added their comments to this thread and anyone else who has problems updating Mac OS X.
Here's the solution to my problems:
1- I backed up the contents of my iMac using TimeMachine (before any attempt to install a major system update) so that I would always have a copy of my Mac running smoothly under Mac OS X 10.7.3;
2- I used Geekbench to measure the performance of my iMac running Mac OS X 10.7.3 and achieved a score of 7622;
3- Using Google and browsing through Apple Support Communities, I realized that Mac users weren't up in arms over the Mac OS X 10.7.4 Update, instead I was confronted with a number of users reporting various issues, none of which was similar to what my iMac experienced, meaning that my experience was unique, exceptional;
4- Starting the iMac through a self-made Mac OS X 10.7.1 booting DVD (I didn't make a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion USB thumb drive), I used my TimeMachine backup to erase the contents of the iMac and replace it with the copy of the backed up iMac running Mac OS X 10.7.3 (before the Mac OS X 10.7.4 Update);
5- Once everything was stable and running well, after repairing the Macintosh HD and then, repairing permissions with the Apple Disk Utility, I did what most Mac users do, i.e. use the Software Update command under the Apple menu to check if there were any available update for my iMac running Mac OS X 10.7.3;
6- Software Update offered me a 729 MB Mac OS X 10.7.4 Update which is bigger than the 692 MB Mac OS X 10.7.4 (Client) Delta Update being offered on Apple Support Downloads;
7- I downloaded and installed the 729 MB Mac OS X 10.7.4 Update offered through Software Update which, presumably, contained additional software which is specific to the iMac model and year that I use;
8- After making a Safe Boot as described by Apple @ http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455, repairing the Macintosh HD and then, repairing permissions with the Apple Disk Utility, and giving the iMac 2 more days to defragment on its own the hard disk, I am pleased to report that my iMac achieved a higher score of 7663 on GeekBench, showing that everything is back to normal and that my iMac runs even better with the Mac OS X 10.7.4 Update.

Pages "Freezes" Application Not Responding...

Hi everyone, hopefully you can help me out here..
I am using Pages 2006. and Every-time i open it up and click anything.. like open an existing file or help or about pages... it freezes on me.. "Application not responding" and I have to force quit every-time!
I have done a virus scan, restarted my computer a bagillion times, and have reinstalled the application. My project is due in a few days and I cant get the thing working!!
Someone help!!! what do i do??

Try quitting Pages and deleting the .plist file. Go to HD > Users (your account) > Library > Preferences, and move the com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart Pages.

Yosemite has ruined performance of my 3-year-old iMac with freezes, application shutdowns and more. What can I do?

Since installing Yosemite my iMac frequently freezes, particularly when I have multiple windows open/apps running. I've never had this problem before. All my apps are installed on a solid-state drive and all documents, etc. on a separate drive, so I'm accustomed to fast performance. Most problems seem to occur with Microsoft Office (Word and Entourage) and Safari, but that's what I use most heavily, so no surprise. I have always been able to keep a lot of apps/windows open on desktop without performance problems, until now. Yosemite is leaving me stranded. (I upgraded to Yosemite because a couple of the newest apps I use on my two Macs and iPhone require Yosemite.) Any advice?

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Printing freezes applications

Printing on this machine freezes the application (ie TextEdit) forcing a force quit. I have reset the printing system, added new queues, and tried printing from TextEdit and preview. Both freeze.
I am seeing the warning "No limit for Validate-Job defined in policy kerberos" in the cups log.
I have run routine maintenance on the drive, fixed permissions, cleared cache files.
Revert to previous CUPS version? Any other suggestions? Thanks ...

Mavericks freezing / Applications not responding

Before I start this problem is not isolated to one machine. We have around several MacBook Pros from 2012 onwards, Retina MacBook Pros and iMacs.
The Retina laptops came with Mavericks installed.
So our general issues are:
- Fan noise loud
- Machine with no acitvity starts wurring up
- All applications not responding then having to hard restart
- Laptop running hot
This has only happened since release of Mavericks and is not SSD related as we have had non SSD related Macs with the problem.
Almost every machine I've listed above has experienced the issues above.
Does anyone know a fix for this or is Mavericks just not worth using?

disabling the browsers ui is definitely impossible via any method besides some illegal method that m$ might implement via .NET.
I looked into what you are trying to do a while back and thought one of my banking sites was able to pull it off with frames....however i just tried it with them and it does bring my logged in profile back so now i'm not sure what i remember.
in short, i think its impossible. remove page caching and shorten the session timeout is your only chance i think.

Build application freezes, USB-6501

I am running LabView 7.1.1 on Mac OS X 10.3.9. I am controlling a couple of instruments via GPIB and the USB-6501 with DAQmx Base. My VI works fine. I'm trying to build a stand alone application with the application builder and it freezes during the build. I have unchecked the box to "Disconnect type definitions and remove unused polymorphic VI instances" in the Application Settings of the Application Builder and it still freezes during the build. I've tried to recompile the VI by holding down the option and shift keys while clicking the run button and it locks up then too. I have successfully built applications without the USB-6501. Can anyone offer some help? Thank you.

Hi All-
Unfortunately MAX is not available on Mac for troubleshooting, Mike. Vob, can you please verify whether you installed NI-DAQmx Base prior to or after installing the LabVIEW 7.1.1 patch? The driver must be reinstalled after installing the LabVIEW patch and after mass compiling your directories. You should not mass compile after the NI-DAQmx Base installation.
Also, this line from from the NI-DAQmx Base ReadMe might be pertinent:
If, when building an executable or shared object project using NI-DAQmx Base VIs, the Application Builder catches an error, you must restart LabVIEW before running any NI-DAQmx Base VI.
Please give these suggestions a try and repost if you are still experiencing problems.

Adobe Creative cloud Photoshop CC 2014 , smudge tool freezing

Issue: Adobe CC 2014 , Photoshop smudge tool freezing , application stops responding when using more that 4000px

Note : same issue persists on different Windows 8.1 with - Nvidia Quadro K4200 4GB.
The software stops responding and freezes when photoshop Smudge tool only when size is increased to >4000px ,
Have updated CC desktop from
https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and installed all updates.

Reduced cache set size to 128 in performance.
Tried Advanced graphics card settings in preferences.

We had tried on multiple operating system and also with latest updates done , same issue persists ,current version is 14.2.1 x64 , Photoshop stops responding once brush size in increased about 1000px.
All latest update were installed via creative common cloud.

Calling different Applications w/o having to enter login info again.How ?

Hello,
we have created several apex applications that are in different workspaces. Each application has it's own custom authentication process and a login form.
Now we want to have a central login form, from which user can login and be able to visit
all applications in other workspaces (without having to pass through the login form again) , through a menu with url links.
We managed to do it for the applications that are in the same workspace, by adding the same cookie name in the authentication scheme of each application, and passing the same session_id to all menu url links.
How can we achieve the same result if our applications belong to different workspaces?
Any help will be appreciated!!!

Executable build failing with no error message with smtp email VIs

I have a VI which I want to build into a .exe which will be used as an HMI for a real-time system. I am using the SMTP VIs to text/email me various notifications about the system state. The main VI works fine if run but will not build into an .exe. The error message comes back blank so no help there (LabView 2010). If I just simply disable the portion of the code in the HMI.VI which contains the email VI code, the application builds. I searched for anwers and was unable to resolve the problem. Any ideas? Do I need to include anything in the build that is specific to the LabView SMTP VIs? I'm new to building .exe's so I appologize for any rookie mistakes I may have made.

I found a bunch of topics on email send errors after the application was built but nothing related to .exe building failures (related to the SMTP/email VIs). I also found topics dicussing the bug that fails to report an (any) error during the .exe build (for 2011). The solution was to install the service pack. if that's my problem then I will have to go through the motions to get that done (corporate computers / lack of persmissons and such).

Trust me, the last thing I want to is waste my time fishing for answers on the forum, especially when I get a response from forum members who would rather point out that my mis-identified problem has been answered many, many times, rather then just helping me out.
