NI-VISA installation fails on Scientific Linux 6.0
Hi!
I am trying to install Labview 2012 on Scientific Linux 6.0 (regarding to the NI website this distro is supported).
The LabView installation works fine, but the subsequent NI-VISA installation terminates with the following error msg:
# ./INSTALL

Obviously the installer finds the kernel source and gcc 4.4.6. Is there anything I can do to install NI-VISA on the system? If not, could you suggest me a linux distro which works with LV2012? I am tired trying several ones.
Thanks for you help!

Oracle9i Rel2 installation fails on Redhat linux 7.3
Hello there.
My m/c is Pentium III 500MHz m/c with 320MB physical RAM and it has Redhat Linux 7.3 installed.
I'm trying to install oracle 9i and it fails in DB creation. The "dbca" shows an error message
"ORA-27123: unable to attach to shared memory segment" when it is at 51% through.
I have configured 1.9GB of swap space. The "ipcs" command do show some shared memory allocation under "oracle" user id with "0777" permission. I can't really figure where to start in analysing this problem. Your inputs are very much appreciated.
Thank you.
Vimala.
31-Aug-2002You need to know that while installing Oracle software itself you must not invoke any wizard like adjusting Oracle network or creating databases , just finish of the Installation , restart machine and start configuring the network and databases , this approach was very successfull with Servers who have less than 1 G Ram.
I have installed 9i R2 over 256M ram over Redhat 7.3 , no Problem JUST , if this problems happens after installing the Oracle software itself , it is reported by Oracle that it has bug in this version that happens for instance when you open a shell window , startup a database and exit SQL+ , when trying to shut it down from the same window it returns the same stated error before , I managed to solve it by ( from inside SQL+ ) giving :
!ipcs oracle
Then
!ipcrm ****
**** = the id numbers of Oracle processes for shared memory realm.
Then exit SQl+ , open another shell window , start SQL+ and we are back on business again.
This is all instead of resatrting the server. -
I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Suse Linux 7.0 (with glibc 2.1.3).
However, while runnning universal installer, I get the following error messages:
"Error in writing to file /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/javavm/admin/libjox8oracle_jpub_c.so"
and (later):
"I/O error in file /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/jis/install/ncomp_so_full_orb.jar"
When trying to link the Oracle components, the installer produces:
"Error in invoking target utilities of makefile /opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk"
After installation is finished, some Oracle utilities can't be started.
E.g., svrmgrl fails and I can't create a database instance.
What's going wrong here? I tried to reinstall Oracle several times, but this
behaviour is reproducible. Yes, I unset LANG, and set all necessary environment
variables. Any ideas would be really helpful!
nullHi:
I am experiencing the same problem. I followed the installation instructions to the dot, but found that the universal installer (UI) (java based) fails at the very beginning.
I'm still trying to install. However, as per the installation instructions, I didn't install Java. So the UI is only running on the runtime version that comes with the CD.
If I make any progress these days, I will post the solution...

Oracle 8.1.6 Installation fail on RedHat Linux 6.1
The machine was running 8.1.5 on RedHat 6.1 (Sure, the installation was painful at that time, I downloaded jre1.6.5 & linux_81501patch_ee.tgz to make it works).
The problem now, is upgrading 8.1.5 to 8.1.6. Since so many people told migration is painful, so I decided to export database, remove 8.1.5, install 8.1.6 and import database.
After remove all the oracle files (I believe), I ran "runInstaller", after select "Custom" and click "Next". It immidiate shows following error:

Hi,
We've moved our application to compile against the 4.5 SDK.
We're compiling it with Flash Builder (on mac) into an air file and as our application is using NativeProcess API, we're packaging it on each platform into a native installer with the following command (linux example) : adt -package -target native app.deb app.air
We think we fall into the same issue ashttp://forums.adobe.com/message/3271944#3271944 but for the 4.5 DSK.
On Linux it used to work with the following environment (env1):
- Ubuntu 10.10
- Java Sun 1.6.0_24
- Flex SDK 4.1.0.16076 + Adobe Air SDK 2.5.0
It stops to work when we upgrade to the new Flex SDK (env2):
- Ubuntu 10.10
- Java Sun 1.6.0_24
- Flex SDK 4.5.0.20967 (with the default embeded Adobe Air SDK 2.6)
The faut message is "Invalid AIR file" and nothing is logged in the log file (/home/<username>/.appdata/Adobe/AIR/Logs/Install.log).
1) The .air file is installing correctly on env2 (without the support of the NativeProcess as expected)
2) We also tried to compile the project directly on env2 :
amxml app.mxml
adt -package -storetype pkcs12 -keystore cert.p12 app.air app-app.xml air.swf
The .air file is installing fine but the packaging into a native process fails in the same way...
3) We tried to package a native installer of our .air file on env1 and it works!!! (the installed application seems to work fine also on env2!!!)
Are we missing something or does it seems to be a bug of the Flex SDK 4.5?
Are there some restrictions to package a native installer with the Flex SDK 4.1 a air app build with the Flex SDK 4.5 ?
Thanks in advance,
MichHi,
Finally we figure out how to solve the issue.
The packaging into native .deb installer fails as explain above because with the hole Flex SDK 4.5 (adt -version told 2.6.0.1920).
The packaging is successfull if only Air SDK 2.6 is install.
What is strange that both adt seems to be the same "2.6.0.1920" (found with "adt -version").
Can someone from the Adobe dev team explain it?
I suppose as the Flex SDK is not available for the Linux platform, the download only contains the Air SDK for Windows and Mac OS as opposed to the specific download of the Air SDK for te Linux platform...
Thanks,

NI-VISA on Snow Leopard - installation fails
Installation of the GPIB drivers gives a few errors, but the process completes.
NI-VISA (4.5.1 I think) installation fails on Mac OSX 10.6.1 right at the end. I am using the LabVIEW 2009 Evaluation dmg.
NI-VISA Configuration tool quits upon launch.
Message Edited by m-s on 10-25-2009 03:58 AMHello m-s,
Officially we have not announced when Snow Leopard will be fully supported. I understand that it is a very nice operating system and you would like to use it, but because of the system architechture changes, we have not fully tested everything. I recommend going here and clicking on this space indicated in the picture to file a product suggestion. The more of these that come in, the quicker this will be addressed.

Kernel sources not found on Scientific Linux 6
Hello!
I am having trouble installing NI-VISA on Scientific Linux 6. The installer can not find kernel source despite the fact the kernel-headers and kernel-devel packages are installed. How to point the NI-VISA installer to the kernel source location?Hello,
It looks like there's some information about this listed in the installation instructions and installation FAQs of the readme file for NI-VISA here. Have you looked through this before your attempted install?

Installation OIM on redhat Linux really slow
Hello,
I have a problem with the installation of OIM. When I try to install OIM on a linux server (redhat 5.0 64b) with the JRockit 64bits java 1.6.0 (jrmc 3.2.1-1.6.0) version the installer is just really slow. It takes ages for the command line installer to go to the next step.
has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?
greetings,
BasThe machine on which OIM is to be installed has enough memory, I believe it has 8GB..
The weird thing is that the first time we ran the installer, it was just normal (== fast) but the installation failed when deploying OIM into Weblogic and we can't run the weblogic deploy script, since this also fails.. (it throws a nameError: fail on the configoim.py script) That's when we decided to try to install OIM again from scratch.. so we moved the current installation directory to another location and started the installation again. This when the problems as decribed by Bas began.. The installer is really really slow.. we waited for more then 15 minutes for it to continue to the next step.. but it didn't. We checked the machine for spiking processes but the machine was totally idle..
Does anyone know what could be the problem? Are we doing anything wrong? or are we missing something?

Acrobat XI Pro installation failed
MacBook Pro 13" Retina
OSX 10.8.5
3 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Used Akamai NetSession Interface.
Downloaded from Adobe website. After download, clicked on installer, entered serial number, quickly went through installing until right at the end: "THE INSTALLATION FAILED: Installer encountered an error that caused installation to fail. Contact manufacturer." Part of the message cut-off abruptly.
Then, it appeared that the installation did occur but when I opened the software the interface didn't look "smooth." Then almost immediately software update stated Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.04 was available for download, but computer wouldn't allow it to be installed citing error on initial problem. I uninstalled XI Pro and tried to download again from Adobe website but the window instantly opened for Akamai and said download complete. The same problem occured when I tried to install again, with the same error message.Thank you Anish.
The software now appears to be working for some reason, and even though Error 1301 appeared when trying to update to Acrobat 11.0.04, it shows that I am running 11.0.04. There is something going on in there but so far so good.

Installation Fails on Debian Stable 64 bit
Hi There
I have been trying to install skype for a while. The i386 architecture has already been enabled, and the repositories have been updated. I have repeated the process several times just to be sure.
During skype installation a bunch of conflicts occur and aptitude can only install skype by uninstalling most of my system, at which point I have to abort the installation. I have tried many different packages, including Ubuntu packages, old packages, old static packages, tarballs. Nothing helps. Here is the output from the terminal:

If anybody has a solution, I would appreciate help, as - unfortunately - for some reasons I kind of depend on Skype

OVMM 3.3.1 installation fails on OVS 3.3.1 in vbox environment.
Hello,
I'm trying to install Oracle VM Manager 3.3.1 on Oracle Server 3.3.1 @ Oracle VirtualBox VM for testing It
Installation ISO of VM Server downloaded from edelivery with name V46550-01.iso
Installation ISO of VM Manager downloaded from edelivery with name V46555-01.iso
VirtualBox version is 4.2.18 r88780 @ Win7 x86_64, host machine is HP ProBook 4340s (core i3-2370M 4Gb RAM), guest VM is 2cpu 2Gb RAM.
Oracle VM Server was sucessfully installed before.
Now I try to install VM Manager as it described in document part 3.4.2
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20065_01/doc.30/e18548/manager.htm :
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
cd /mnt
./createOracle.sh
... [done]
./runInstaller.sh
installation fais with message "Configuration verification failed" because it found VM server as "redhat 3.3.1", not Oracle Linux.
You can see this fail on attached screenshot 1.png
installation log attached as ovm-manager-3-install-2014-11-14-101028.log
When I try to install it without prerequisite check
./runInstaller.sh -n
installation fails with non-error message "Retrieving MySQL Database 5.6".
You can see this fail on attached screenshot 2.png
installation log attached as ovm-manager-3-install-2014-11-14-101419.log
How can I correctly install VM Manager on VM server in this case?
Regards to all,
Aleksey.Matt_Millard, You're right,
I want to install ovmm into ovs dom0.
Is this prohibited or just unsupported by oracle?
There are some unofficial instructions about this way, like
http://www.pythian.com/blog/installing-oracle-vm-manager-3-0-1-under-dom0-host/
Looks like it works on previus versions of ovmm and ovs. -
[SOLVED] Intel Fortran Compiler v11.1.072 installation failed
hi everyone!
i have some problems with the intel fortran installation. i try to install both ia32 and intel64 version, but without success. i launch from the shell the file "install.sh" and i follow the instructions on the screen, it says that i have missing optional pre-requisites, but also in other linux distribution such as ubuntu or debian, i always skip missing optional pre-requisites and go on. so i do that, but in the step no. 6 when the installation begins, there are a lot of errors:
Installing Intel(R) Fortran Compiler for applications running on IA-32
component...
Intel(R) Fortran Compiler for applications running on IA-32 component
installation failed.
Installing Intel(R) Math Kernel Library for applications running on IA-32
component...
Intel(R) Math Kernel Library for applications running on IA-32 component
installation failed.
what happens?
thanks all for your replies, i'm here for other infos if you want.
Last edited by zeruel85 (2010-06-28 07:56:26)ok, i solved the problem, but with another ifort version. first of all, install these required packages:
sudo pacman -S glibc libstdc++5
then download from aur the package "intel-compilers-common 11.0.074-2" and extract it. now:
cd /PATH/intel-compilers-common
makepkg
sudo pacman -U intel-compilers-common-11.0.074-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
always from aur, download "ifort" and extract it. before compiling it, copy the file "l_cprof_p_11.0.074_intel64.tgz" from the "intel-compilers-common" folder into the "ifort" folder. now we must have the license file. we can get it from the official intel site:
https://registrationcenter.intel.com/Re … NCOM&lang=
just insert your email, select your country and click "Continue". we'll receive an email with the license key attached. now copy the file into the "ifort" folder. open a shell and do this:
cd /PATH/ifort
md5sum LICENSE.lic
where "LICENSE.lic" is the name of your license key. after that, we have to modify the "PKGBUILD" file, always into the "ifort" folder. in line 19, write the correct license file name. in line 24 write the correct md5sum result. save and exit. now we can compile:
cd /PATH/ifort
makepkg
sudo pacman -U ifort-11.0.074-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
now we have ifort installed! just logout/login to complete the installation! then type:
ifort -help
to verify if ifort was correctly installed. if the ifort guide appears, well done! -

So you are missing at least one of the "extra" packages needed for an Oracle install.
I found some posts that make me believe Cent 6 isn't quite ready for Oracle 11 :
