NI VLM license request trigger

We are running a NI VLM 2.0 and network installers made using it work fine.
If for any reason during a station installation there is no communication with the server but the install is finished what would be the best procedure to make the license request from the station to server occur again? We found that if we run the installer again with the communication reestablished it would happen but we would like to do it without a re-install or a manual computer addiction.

Hi Renato,
You are right, the client should automatically request the license upon the installation. If this is not happening, you can run the file mslsetup.exe, that you are probably going to find on the network installer's root directory. This will trigger the process of setting up communication and permissions with the VLM server without having to reinstall the software.
Or if you want, you can create disconnected license files and install them manually on the clients.
For more information on those procedures, there are some short videos showing all the steps from the installation of a license file, to the creation of the disconnected licences from your VLM Server. Those videos are on the link below:

  • Why is "Do Not Allow License Request" disabled?

I have a Dev Suite w/Automated Test Named-User license assigned to me that I typically like to keep reserved for my main dev computer.  I have a test station computer that has a computer-based LV 8.6 and a computer-based Test Stand Dev System license.  Unfortunately the test station computer always uses my named-user license unless it is already being used by my dev computer.
According to documentation I'm supposed to be able to use NI License Manager to prevent the test computer from checking out my named user license using the "Do Not Allow License Request" option, but it is always disabled.  Any ideas?

DevSuite comes with Labview Professional so I don't know what the difference between "DevSuite Standard" and "DevSuite Professional" is.  Regardless, we have Developer Suite 8.3 with Image Acquisition and Machine Vision and Automated Test.
    Setup Details:
Both computers (my dev comp and the test comp) are connected to the network.
I'm logged on to both computers using my network credentials.
I have a named-user DevSuite 8.3 license assigned to me.
The test computer has a computer-based Labview 8.6 Full Dev System with Mathscript license and a computer-based TestStand 4.1Dev System license assigned to it.
I believe the test computer LV installation was done using a network DevSuite installer.  (I suspect that's the root of the problem.)  I don't know if the test computer's TestStand installation was done using the DevSuite installer or a TestStand installer.
    VLM Results:
Starting TS on my dev computer first uses the DevSuite license.
Starting LV on my dev computer first uses the DevSuite license.
Starting TS on the test computer uses the computer-based TS license.
Starting LV on the test computer incorrectly uses the DevSuite license.
I suppose if I ran the regular LV installer on the test computer it would switch over to that license instead of my DevSuite license.  Ideally there would be a way to define which license to use if more than one valid license is available.  (Command line switches?)  98% of the time I want the test computer to use the LV Full license, but there's that 2% of the time when I need to use the DevSuite on it.

  • How do I convert my evaluation license to a VLM license?

I have installed an NI VLM and run vmlclient on my PC and run NI License Manager to point to the VLM, but when I run Labview it tells me it it still running on a evaluation license.
How do I get the software to check out a license from the VLM?
    Best regards
    Richard

    Hi,
The way to check out a license from your VLM server, is to let the client to run vlmclient.exe (it is automatically run at the end of a VL software installer), and it will send a licensing request to the VLM server. Again, see this KB.
At the licensing server you will see a prompt in the VLM which you will need to manually accept the request to grant a license to the client.
You don't need to run the license manager on the client at all, everything is configured automatically by running vlmclient.exe, this is the app you need to run to get the license, do not tweak your License Manager.

  • Unable to generate license request in ELM

I have a system running in 9.1.x. Im unable to generate a license request. Does anyone here have a solution for this? i have the PAK with me but the network were the system was running would not allow internet access so im left with no option.

    Hi Aman,
I'm attaching the logs. What i did for know is that i did reinstall call manager using the lower version
(Bootable_UCSInstall_UCOS_9.1.1.20000-5.sgn) since deployment is due next week. When the system arrived it came with a Bootable_UCSInstall_UCOS_9.1.2.10000-28.sgn then I upgrade it to UCSInstall_UCOS_9.1.2.11900-12.sgn. thats when the ELM issue happen.
Yesterday i did the resinstallation using version 9.1.1.20000-5 i was able to generate license request and installed the license succesfully. then i proceced to upgrade to system to 9.1.2.10000-28 then finally to 9.1.2.11900-12. as of now ELM is working with no issue encounter

  • Generate new License Request from ELM

    Hello everyone,
I am having a problem generating a new License Request from ELM.
It was required to me by Cisco Licensing in order for them to provide me a new License file.
Here are the steps that I made in generating a new License Request from ELM. (See attached file ELMaccess, LR1 & LR2)
I first accessed the ELM under CUCM administration.
Select License tab> Other Fulfillment Options> Generate License Request> Save to my computer
I received a .txt file (lic_req_201.....) and that certain file was the one I sent to Cisco Licensing.
    Cisco Licensing replied:
"It is still the same license request that you have here, just regenerated. What is needed is an entirely new and different ELM License request."
I am not really certain for what kind of License Request file that he wanted, or maybe there is a different procedure in doing this?
    Can someone help on this?
If I am missing something or if there is another procedure on generating a new License Request kindly guide me.
    Thank you so much.
    Kind regards,

    Hi mkchandak,
    Thank you for your response!
Yes we did, we actually at first generated a license request, submitted it to licensing and they provided us a license file. Now, upon the installation of the license file we received this error message "Insufficient Licenses".
We went back to cisco Licensing, a new engineer assigned to us, provided all the details he requires, our license case was approved by their Product Manager and now he requests for a "Newly Generated License Request".
I followed the same steps in generating a new License Request:
I accessed the ELM under CUCM administration.
So maybe he is referring to something other than the License Request that I have provided.
Maybe there is a different procedure in generating a "fresh and newly generated License Request"
If you know a step-by-step procedure in achieving this, please guide me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again!

  • Runtime Error when cancelling license request

I'm getting the following error when cancelling a license request.  The main difference between my application and the sample applications is that the root Flex Application is mx:Application, rather than mx:WindowedApplication, but I can't figure out the best way to trap this Error - I guess it would be better for the Licensing SWC to catch this error and dispatch an Event instead?

I think I'm missing something then.
I don't see how the Feature-based Licensing (http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/melrose/4.3+Feature-based+Licensing) can work as indicated in the documentation.
In the sample code the program will exit once the trial has expired, and there will be no other choices.    If not purchased the feature doesn't turn on, but the trial dialog will indicated an option of buy or quit once trial is expired.  The quit will exit the application completely, not disable the feature.  The licensecheck also happens at creationcomplete, not giving an option for explanation of why to buy, or what is being unlocked (yes I realize it is just sample code, but it doesn't seem practical at this point.)
Am I reading the documenation / sample code wrong?  Is there another example that will show a different type of behavior?  If you set no trial does the licensing still come up?

  • VLM licenses "Already activated on another computer"?

I already had at least one user with this issue before receiving our recently renewed VLM license.  We use VLM licenses in disconnected mode exclusively as most users or are located in satellite offices.
In the license manager on the end user's machine, the status says "Already activated on another computer".   The Note says "Contained in a disconnected license" blah blah blah ...
The documentation says "Note  Disconnected and home license files generated by NI Volume License Manager do not need to be activated.".  However, these users keep getting asked to activate.

    Julie,
National Instruments products' activation revolves around the Computer ID.  The Computer ID is based on the physical (MAC) address of the network card by default. If either a network card is replaced or multiple network cards are present, the changing MAC addresses might result in unactivated software. You can confirm this by checking out the computer ID in the client computer's License manager and VLM on server. They probably no match each other.
In order to remedy this situation, contact National Instruments support (ni.com/ask) so that a Computer ID can be generated which is based on the hard drive serial number of your computer rather than the physical (MAC) address.

  • License Request

Below is a problem that a writer in my group is having. She are asked to put in the license key each time she opens any of the programs in the new Tech Comm Suite 4. Any Ideas?? I suggested that she uninstall and reinstall the entire suite to see if this corrects the problem. She is using Windows 7 O/S.
Remember the issue I had last week with signing in to the software products with my license?
Now it is requiring that I do that every time I launch each of the software products.

Can you please share the following logs from the location %temp%
    amt3.log
    PDApp.log
    oobelib.log
Also, it will be better if you first empty your temp directory so that the log contains just the relevant information. Once done, launch any product and try serializing it. Relaunch the product such that the serial number is asked again.

  • AMI - Remote Disconnection (Status Change Request) trigger

    Hello Colleagues,
We have Dunning creating Disconnection documents (in addition to Disconnection Notification Work Items) for AMI (smart)meters.
    Question:
At what point in the process is the Enterprise Service for Device Status Change triggered?
We have tried closing the Disconnection Work item, and then entered a Planned Disconnection date in the Disconnection document (transaction EC86).
After the above steps,  we go into AMI monitoring for the Device in question, but we dont see any outbound message for Device Status change.
If you know what I am missing, your feedback would be really appreciated.
The AMI Wiki says the enterprise service is triggered when the Disconnection document is changed with planned disonnection date.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ivor M.

    Hi Ivor,
You need to do the following in order to trigger status change service
    1)Create  Disc. Doc. EC85
2)Generate Discon. Order EC86 & save ( with or without work item)
3)Without Work item EC86 give Disc. Doc. no. & enter now double click on Discon order & execute either immediate disconnection
by pressing button or wait for planned date, on planned date this will automatically got disconnected & corresponding web service will be triggered.
if you face any problem then contact me.

  • How do I create DRM Licenses that can be used for Offline Playback?

    [ Background ]
Typically, a license is acquired from the DRM license server when the client video player encounters a video that is DRM-protected.   However, some use cases call for the ability for end-users to be able to play DRM content when a network connection is not available to the device.
For example - the user wants to download a video from their home, acquire a license to play the content, and then get onto a train/airplane where a network connection isn't available.  On the train/airplane/etc..., the end user expects to be able to watch their video that they downloaded at home.
    [ DRM Policy Requirements ]
For this use case to be possible, the DRM license must be acquired when the network connection is available.  In addition, the DRM license must be allowed to persist on the device disk.  For this to be possible, one value must be present in the DRM policy:
    1. Offline License Caching must be set to 1 or higher.  This policy parameter indicates how many minutes a license is allowed to be persisted to disk once it's been acquired by the license server.
    [ Workflow ]
Now that the content has been packaged with a DRM policy that allows for offline caching (persistance) of a license, the video player simply has to acquire the license before the network connection is lost.  This can be accomplished via the typical API calls that the Video Player Application Developer would use to do a normal DRM license acquisition (DRMManager.loadVoucher()).
For example, by using the DRMManager ActionScript3 API: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/drm/DRMManage r.html
For other platforms supported by Adobe Access DRM (iOS, Android, etc...), please refer to the appropriate documentation around playback of DRM content on how to pre-fetch the DRM license.
    [ Workflow - iOS ]
Enabling offline playback using the Primetime Media Player SDK (PSDK) for iOS requires a bit of self-extraction & instantiation of the DRM Metadata from the m3u8.  The reason for this is that as of PSDK v1.2, the PSDK APIs do not expose an mechanism for extracting the DRM metadata.
You must manually (outside of the PSDK) get access to the DRM Metadata, instantiate a DRMContentData, and then use the DRMManager class to obtain a license for your content.  Afterwards, you may download your HLS content and stream it to your video player application locally.  Since the DRM license was pre-acquired before playback of the downloaded HLS content, your video player application does not require a network connection to acquire a DRM license.  Below is a code sample of obtaining the DRM Metadata from the m3u8 manifest and then using it with the DRMManager singleton.
/*          Main entry points, playlistURL is url to a top level m3u8. */
    void PlayContent(NSURL* playlistURL)
              DRMManager* drmManager = [DRMManager sharedManager];
              if ([drmManager isSupportedPlaylist:playlistURL])
// First we need a handler for any errors that may occur
DRMOperationError errorHandler = ^(NSUInteger major, NSUInteger minor, NSError* nsErr)
      /*          report error. */
/*          Synchronous call to DRM manager to extract DRM metadata out of the playlist. */
                        [_drmManager getUpdatedPlaylist:playlistURL
                                                                                      error:errorHandler
                                                                                    updated:^(NSURL *newPlaylist, DRMMetadata *newMetadata)
(void) newPlaylist; /*          updated URL is not used for this code sample. */
                                   if (newMetadata)
Assumes we are going to try to satisfy requirements to acquire license on the first policy in the metadata.
If there are multiple policies in the metadata, only 1 of them need to be satisfied for the license request to
                                                      go through.
                                             DRMPolicy* drmPolicy = NULL;
                                             for (id object in newMetadata.policies) {
                                                       DRMPolicy* drmPolicy = (DRMPolicy*)object;
                                                       break;
                                             if (drmPolicy == NULL)
/*          report error, this metadata is malformed. DRM metadata must contain at least 1 policy*/
                                             if (drmPolicy.authenticationMethod != ANONYMOUS)
However, please note that the above only describes the DRM license handling for offline playback.  The actual playback of video using the Primetime client SDK is not officially supported.  You will have to use your own mechanism of saving and playback back HLS content locally within the application.
Theoretically, it is possible to save the HLS stream to the app, and then embed an HTTP server to the app to stream the HLS content back into the application.  However, the Primetime client SDK doesn't not expose a way to do this directly, since it's not yet supported.
    cheers,
    /Eric.

  • How can I procure a TLP license for the French version of Adobe Acrobat?

My company has been successfully licensing the English language version of Adobe Acrobat (Std 7 Pro) under TLP for nearly two years from our US-based reseller, for locations in both the US and in Canada. Now I have a license request from our location in Quebec for the French language version, and neither my reseller nor the reseller's Adobe specialist have been able to provide any useful (or even coherent) advice on how to accomplish that. Can you help?
    Scott Miller
    Manager IT Security
    Unimin Corporation

R e a l l y ? ? ? ? ? ? Nobody at Adobe sales, support, or in its reseller or user community has a clue how to procure a TLP license for Acrobat in a jurisdiction using one language localization and deploy it to a subsidiary in a jurisdiction using another? Surely you aren't serious? This is an elementary corporate software licensing question. The inability of Adobe (et al) to provide any answer does not bode any better for its future than does the fall of Flash to HTML5 for web page rendering. The history of IT companies that come to believe that they have some kind of historical entitlement to market share and no longer need to work for it isn't pretty. Watching this company attempt to sustain itself on Creative Cloud subscriptions alone should be amusing. One more reason to lkeep looking for alternative formats and products, I guess.

  • Why don't my DRM policies seem to work? Using "License Server for Protected Streaming"

Do you find yourself setting rights/restrictions in a DRM policy (like disallow playback on Linux), only to see that the right/restriction isn't being enforced when you play your content?  There may be several reason causing this to happen:
    1. If you are using the "Adobe Access Server for Protected Streaming" that came on your ESD/DVD, this streaming-only server is configured to specifically ignore any policy that was used to package content.  Instead, the server itself overrides the entire packaged policy and instead, reads rights from its tenant configuration XML file (flashaccess-tenant.xml) to generate licenses issued back to the requesting device.
    2. Is your license server configured to use a PolicyUpdateList?  This is a list that can be used to override any old policy (according to its Policy ID) and to use a newly defined policy instead.  This is useful if content was pacakged with a policy and then afterwards, the business rules have changed for the particular policy, warranting an across-the-board change to all content packaged with that particular policy.  Using a PolicyUpdateList is essentially a way to version your older (already used) policies.
    3. is your license server overriding the policy manually in its code?  If you're using the Reference Implementation license server (or building your own server from the SDK), your server has direct access to the policy.  The server can add/remove/change any right in the policy before using it to generate a license for the requesting device.  If you're using the Reference Implementation, by default, it will simply generate a license directly from the policy without any manipulation to it.
    4. Are you sure you re-packaged your content using the new policy where you made your changes?  On your license server, since you have access to the policy (it's sent up to the license server as part of the license request), the license server can log the policy ID of the policy.  Check your logs to verify the new policy is actually being used.
    5. Are you sure you're playing back the newly-packaged content?  Caches may be stale.
    cheers,
    /Eric.

Not possible with a POP account.
The email account sync process with iTunes syncs (or transfers) email account setup information for select accounts only from your computer to the iPhone. This does not not involve messages.
The reason the account's Inbox mailbox seemed to sync is because received messages with a POP account are the only server stored messages and if not removed from the server when downloaded by one email client can be downloaded from the server by another - in this case the iPhone.
If you want Sent messages kept synchronized between your computer's email client and the iPhone's email client, you MUST use an IMAP account for this purpose.

  • How do get a license file for SBO8.8 Beta?

    Hi All
Where should one go to get a license for SBO8.8 Beta.. I've tried to download a 2007A license but they are not compatible and in license request it is not possible to choose 8.8
    Anyone know?
    /Rasmus

Yes I know and that is all fair, but then stating that the the Beta is out for SSPs to pretest their add-on don't fit together ... Any Most add-ons need an active license for 1 of 3 reasons:
1 - They have a license component (AddonId) that they need to check against but cannot because of no license present
2 - They check against the license Install No, but without a license there is no install-no
3 - They check the number of pro-licenses in the license (using the license bridge) to validate if you are allowed to run.
Also it seems that a database cannot be upgraded unless a license exits.. That means that we can't test out upgrade of customer databases
Don't misunderstand me.. I very happy to finally have the 8.8 Beta in my hands and I've allready learned a lot today and found a few bug to help you out, but the real test was the add-ons and customer databases (primary to test add-ons again and the Data Achiving function) and that seem not to be possible
I was hoping we could get a full license that lasted the 30 days...

  • How does the license work? Confused here

Ok this is a dumb question. But please tell me if my understanding is correct.
    1. SAP Business One 2005 and 2007 have similar license method based on hardware key? We got hardware key, give to SAP, and we got license key back to us and install?
    2. What happened if the system crashed or any other situation where it requires us to re-format the hard disk? Do we need to pay some money again?
    3. What if we change server? Do we need to get new license key again and pay?
    4. For client workstations, do they need to have hardware key sent and get license key as the server does?
Please let me know on above so that I have a clear understanding.

    Tom,
If you are an SAP Business One Partner, you can go to the SAP PartnerEdge Portal using your "S" number to login and then under the SAP Business One section you can choose "License Request" and view the FAQ at the bottom of the page with respect to SAP Business One licensing.
If you are not a partner ... here are the answers .....
    1. SAP Business One 2005 and 2007 are the same with respect to licensing.
    2. If the hardware key changes, which ut may if hardware components change on the machine Business One is installed, you may be required to acquire a new license.  You should be able to speak with your SAP Partner of Channel Manager to give back what you have and get a new one.  It purely depend on of the Hardware ID changes due to the change.
    3. Same as #2 above.
    4. Each user that logs into SAP Business One requires a named user license. The Hardware ID for the License is based on the machine where the license server is installed.
    HTH,
    Eddy

  • Self-Serve Demo License website now available

To all Sales and Service Partners: A new self-service demo license page has been posted on the Channel Partner Portal Web tools landing page.
    Check it out:

System: Yoga Tablet Pro-1380F, Android Version 4.4.2, YT2-1380F_USR_S000219_1504281410_WW21_ROW
After opening the previously installed Lenovo Companion App, 1.3.0.0215, it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to the latest version, 1.4.0.0518. I was interested in the 8 new diagnostic tools, so I did the update through the prompts. After I did the update, and rebooted, I launched the app. It "looked" OK, until I tried to run the diagnostics. The entire Companion App crashed.
I then un-installed the app, and rebooted. I went to the Google Play Store, and searched for the Lenovo Companion app. I was surprised to see that "This app is not compatible for your device". To recover (get back to version 1.3.0.0215) I needed to download that version, using the link given in post # 6 by supersmp.
Now, whenever I launch the app, it prompts me for the update, but at least the version 1.3.0.0215 diagnostic tools work.
So, mostlyhuman, my advise is to wait until this bug is worked out. If you want the app, try the 1.3.0.0215 version in post # 6, above.
